I had the chicken pieces with two sides. Everything was delicious. The chicken is roasted over open flames so it is really nice and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The chicken is seasoned really well. The side dishes were fresh and delicious also. Some of the best tasting chicken that I've ever had.

I'd never eaten at El Pollo Loco before, but knew that they enjoy cult status among fans. I was not disappointed; the food was terrific, healthy and cheap. If you like grilled chicken, this is a great option. Also, it reminds me of the chicken place on "Breaking Bad".

I got their chicken avocado burrito, the chicken was so juicy and delicious. The churros were also so delicious and soft. Their mash potatoes and gravy were also delicious. Would definitely go again!

No white meat during lunch time. Wait for a table. Clean the dirty table. No flour tortillas. Napkin dispenser was empty. They have corrected all the above issues. I have had many excellent meals since.

Best tasting healthiest fast food in Marin. Veggie and vegan options abound and food is ready fast. I eat here almost daily getting the Pollo bowl substituting avocado for the chicken or their new vegan chickenless chicken. It's five bucks and includes chips and a drink... Can't do any better than that! Today I had an experience in the drive-through with Kevin and Gloria that solidified I'll be a customer for life. Very touched! Thank you!!

I had just buried my dog a few days ago . While waiting for my meal another family walked in . A little girl was holding the same stuff animal my dog was buried with. What are the odds ? I took this as a sign from heaven . So my experience here was amazing.

My favorite chain of all-time. Quick, delicious and healthy food. Can't recommend this location—or any other El Pollo Loco location—enough!

UPDATE 1/31 After be researching the cause of the gut reaction I experienced I'm super excited that it was NOT the food that caused it, but rather a allergic reaction to a drink, which I've never had before. Still in disbelief that it could lead to so much symptoms. FOOD POISONING JANUARY 29, 2023 This is quite unfortunate of an experience. My family and I live nearby this location and order here often. However, food poisoning is no joking matter and restaurants need to ensure safety when managing foods for the public. My family (including a 23-month old toddler) and I ate take out from here but fortunately I'm the only one experiencing severed vomiting and fevers. We tracked down that I was the only one who consumed the spicy sauce and pico de gallo tomato salsa. This could've been the culprit. I hope the business contacts me for further details and investigation on the matter.

Great location. The tortilla soup here is always amazing. I love that they offer several really affordable options for just $5 and the chicken is real chicken vs the processed stuff most fast food places use. The drive thru typically moves pretty fast here and the staff tends to be pretty sharp. It's almost always the same few persons working the drive thru, which is a good thing. It means they keep the same people vs the typically high turnover in fast food. It also means consistent good service happens here. It's my go to lunch spot when I work occasionally in the area.

I am a big fan of El Pollo Loco restaurants. This one however is very poorly managed. The owner needs to sit down with the team and demand changes. I have visited here six times since they have opened. Every single time they have been out of an item that someone in my group wanted. There is no excuse for this. Ever! The turn around time is very quick because of the business you do. You should be ordering more food. How can you be out of crunchy tacos. I don't understand that. The food at the Rohnert Park location is slightly better. So we have that to look forward to. I have noticed an improvement in the customer service.

Something about this location...I ordered delivery the first time and they kept avocado (which I'm allergic to) in the order... fine; scraped off as much as I could and ate. Second time I dined in...the guy completely got the order wrong and was adamant that we were wrong not him. Literally had to show him a picture of what we wanted. I love el pollo Loco, but this location isn't the best.

We ordered the 8 piece leg & thigh meal between three of us. The meal was really good. The young man who took our order was very helpful when we asked him some questions.

Have gone a few times during lunch breaks at work and food quality is consistent and good. This review is during covid times so some of the negative might not always apply. But when you come in there's not really a line everyone kind of just huddles up next to the counter and soda machine, also the few tables that are outside don't ever seem to be cleaned so it's definitely not a place to have lunch at, the drive-thru moves out of moderately fast-paced. Also parking is never an issue and it's conveniently located right off of Anderson and both 580 and 101.

They seem to always be a little slow. Certainly tasty and probably more nutritious than other convenient options. The burritos are harty but seem small. Chipotle has a little something up on them in my opinion. They're good though.

good chic but I didnt appreciate some of my order not being included in the to go order that i paid for. went through drive through so I didnt notice until I got home by then it was too late to go all the way back to get the missing items.

I've visited El Pollo Loco in San Pablo CA and in Southern california as well and though this was some time ago I went to San Rafael's Pollo Loco looking forward to a similar experience and was disappointed with both the taste and the quality of the food offered.

I love the healthy menu and the food. My only complaint with the San Rafael restaurant is they neglect to provide u with the ordered dressings even when ordered.

Service was good and the chicken tasted pretty good. Coleslaw is ok not the best I have tasted and the Mac and Cheese is very good. The salsa tastes a bit weird but still good flavor and overall not a bad place.

Sure- update. I eat here most days due to convenience of location for my work. Every day after the ordering is complete- the cashier will say is that all? I say yes thank you that is all. And then I'm asked again if I would like to add chips or guac. (right after I have said no and that was all) it is asked again. Annoying. And then occasionally I'll get a do I want to upgrade my drink (again this is after I say no thanks to that) Then on occasion my salad will not have any silverware or my drink won't have a straw. If ever I ask for additional cheese the salad comes with no cheese. So pretty much as long as you order it how it comes with out asking to buy extra cheese the salad itself is pretty consistent. The number 1 thing is the ordering in drive thru- the cashier will straight be talking to someone else in the middle of trying to talk to them when it's my turn at the window (in an attempt to keep orders moving forward I get that much but when its my turn and I've waited it should be my turn) Once an order is done and the customer says nothin else- it would be a great idea to stop offering more things! It's SO SO ANNOYING. ask before the customer says nothing else. The cashier will literally say will that complete your order- then always I say yes. But then EVERY SINGLE TIME I get asked if I want to add more. When I agree that it is complete. Let it be completed! Thanks for asking. Add make the order additions more accurate. Same thing Double chicken avocado salad with a side of cotija and a vitamin water small. No I don't want chips and guac and especially after I've just said no thanks to anything else. No. No. No. no still means no! Update: a year later. New window worker. Same line of questions. Every time I say that is all. I am then asked if I would like the dang chips and guacamole. 😂 No. I really don't want anything other than what I am trying to order. Thank you.

This was a nice change from the usual fried food. The chicken was dry but good flavour. I got a side of corn which was really good and mashed potatoes which was stupid on my part. It’s Mexican food. Order Mexican food.

Started out great. Very convenient stop during luch break. The service and quality has gone down. They are a healthier alternative and longer hours. Christian at the drivd through is always polite and apologetic when there are items not available from the menu.

Food and attitude demonstrate apathy and minimal effort of staff who see themselves as corporate slaves. They're STILL operating pathetic covid-fraud practices like failing to provide the salsa bar that made patronizing them worthwhile. Bankruptcy typically follows such incompetence and apathy.

This location has a very poor customer services. it is better to do drive-thru than curbside, because you will be waiting all day for your order.

Stopped here while traveling. They did not have the restrooms available (They told us someone had stolen the bathroom key and the manager hadn't replaced it) My husband had to go across the street to a store to take our child to the restroom. Then came back to join us to enjoy dry chicken.

Last year while visiting the area we got dinner here Why was it $20.00 more than other el polo loco We would go the chain in So Cal and never got robbed like the San Rafael store. We won’t be back!! The chicken was also burnt and the employees said that’s the was it is, maybe they should go work at another store and see how they do chicken.

I'm from SoCal. I've always enjoyed El Pollo Loco. I was happy to find El Pollo Loco after moving to San Rafael. So I'm sad to say this locations drive thru really disappointed me . The young woman at the drive thru window wouldn't talk. There was no greeting, not even a simple hi. No confirming my amount due, she just reached out & took my debit card. Didn't ask if I needed any salsa, which I was trying to ask for. When she handed me my drink she was taking another order so I couldn't ask for house salsa at that time. When she handed me my food, she still had not spoken a word to me. I'm wondering, what happened to basic customer service? I've worked fast food in SoCal. I worked the window when the car line is 6-8 cars deep or when people are honking their car horns or when there's sirens going off down the road. I still said hello to every customer & thank you, have a nice day after every sale.

Expensive for a fast food joint. Only a few low-cost items, and those were not very good. Was sold out of one menu item. Avoid the BRC burrito, it's terrible! For much better Mexican fare at comparable price, go to Taqueria Mi Familia across the street (Marin Square).

Went in today and order a fajita burrito with no beans. Unwrap burrito to make sure that there were no beans. No beans. However, there were only eight pieces of chicken strip a size of a pinkie.

All three of us felt sick afterwards. I have had better chicken when my roommate accidentally burned it in our college dorm.

The service was slow, the food was meh, and the rats running along the side if the drive thru were a little unsettling...

I went through the drive thru, ordered 2 meals and a quesadilla...they said to pull to the front, he would bring it out. We waited, then I went in, he didn't even start it!! I stepped outside, went back in, was going to ask for a refund, and he hands it to me. That was way too fast...went back to my car, took a bite, and none of the cheese was melted. A quesadilla is melted cheese!! I went back in and got a refund. Will NEVER go there again!!

i visited today and Last thursday and was told that there were no Crunchy Chicken Tacos. So i left. Today however, after leaving I walked in and talked to a manager to complain and she tells me that they ran out and are currently making some! Staff doesn't wear gloves when handling food. Witnessed an employee scratch his face with an unlocked hand and then went to work on a file of chicken on the grill. I walked out. Not very sanitary.

Not a single employee speaks english fluently. The employee’s call out the order numbers in Spanish because they don’t know english. I asked an employee taking orders for a fork and she didn’t know what I was saying

What a rip, got a double chicken salad for 13.25 it was fresh salad the rice and beans portions were just terrible you can loose weight eating here, half the food in a burrito for 13 bucks just not a good deal I will be pollo loco to eat here again, rip off... In order to make something I could return and eat, first off make it bigger for 12$ geez, the taco shell was a stale chip it was of poor quality and half the height of normal taco salads makde the whole meal cheaply made go to the mexican place in point Richmond by the corner pub then pizza then 10$ taco salads, so they have a crisp taco shell fresh, next black or refried beans and rice not a table spoon but a good amount the stuff is cheap don't be stingy, next well keep it fresh the meat wasn't fresh either while I was looking at it being grilled giving me the illusion I was getting fresh BBQ, well that's enough good luck The place looks really good from the outside but once inside is like a burger king, you can make the place better not so fast food. Work on your menu presentation.

After I got done telling the lady behind the cash register what I wanted, she asked me if I wanted chips and salas, I said yes but then I asked if it cost extra, she said no so I said ok. After I paid and she gave me my receipts I was charged 3.99 for chips and salsa. I paid a total of 26.13 for 2 burritos and chips and salsa..... way over priced for mediocre food... I could of gone to a restaurant for that price and had better service....

This store is horrible. Horrible customer service. Staff is at lost. Ordered online and gave it more than 20minutes before asking where my order is and no one seems to know where it is. I just decided to have a refund and the manager named GloriaD is just saying that she called someone and that I will get a refund since it is an online order. Manager GloriaD is just making it up and not able to provide a reference number and just making up stories so that I will go away. I have a recording of the whole conversation. Dont order from this store. Staff are just like zombies going on with their day but not really for assisting customers. Store might as well get robots.

I went a couple days ago during the evening and received the most bitter service. A young girl with bleach blonde on one side and natural brown on the other, helped my mother & I. She took a while to get the register working and had to ask her coworkers for help (understandable, I figured she was new). She seemed very stressed and eventually we got our order placed. Once our food was ready, my mother asked for a red tomato sauce & asked for the ones given to us to be taken back (to not waste the sauce) to which the girl that helped us previously gave her the most bitter attitude, not even acknowledging my mother’s presence. She sternly got the tomato sauce my mother asked for to which my mother commented on the service of the place. Apparently it is not uncommon to receive bad service here. The food is okay and if there was a zero star rating available I would have given this place a zero.

They have on their menu a promotion that specifically says a price, when I ordered that specific promotion they told me that it was no longer available, by California law is it is advertised and posted that is supposed to be honored to the customer, unfortunately it was not and unfortunately the manager fought me, and gave me a really hard time instead of honoring that price to make me happy. Oh yea I forgot to mention the chicken was dried out and burnt I wasn't sure if it was on purpose, but I wouldn't doubt it! I am now writing a bad review about my bad experience and embarrassing moment. This restaurant not only needs to teach their employees to communicate in English properly but skills in people with people, Their answer should not be I don't know..I don't know..it's not my fault..that is not the way a manager should handle a situation like this, it was not the money it was the principle behind it, and the way they express themselves. I will not be eating at pollol loco for a very long time if ever.

Driver cancelled my order without letting me know, called El Pollo Loco and they denied to take my order or even refund my money back, Customer service and management where very rude, I do recommend another location but no San Rafael for sure!!! one start is more that they deserve!!

I asked for salt at the drive-up window. The lady asked me three times what I wanted. Then she laughed at me. I'm elderly and I didn't have my dentures in because I was anticipating I was going to eat, and disabled. I can only assume she was discriminating against me because of my teeth, at least that's what it felt like and my only way of concluding why she treated me so utterly disrespectful! This is so contrary to the wonderful service I get to Folsom location there are the girls are always so sweet to me always give me my salt because they know me. I find this reverse discrimination to be somewhat common here in San Rafael where it's primarily a Hispanic community. If you're white you're treated with disdain.

This place gave me food poisoning. I ordered the toastado salad bowl. I was sick for 4 days. The department of Health needs to inspect this place. Something is not right. The ratings will go down and customers will be lost. What's not going to continue happening is this restaurant getting customers sick. This specific location gets an "F" as their grade of bad business. I warn all customers to GO TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION for the sake of your health. They will violate your trust. Owner of the restaurant, don't waste your time replying back to me. This location needs to go out of business just as Wendy's did. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN.
