Great Diner. The wait staff and their assistant are Wonderful, especially in the breakfast area; personable and courteous. I'll drive a distance to have a meal there because of the well prepared food and atmosphere. Always worth the trip. Everyone has a bad moment; it was addressed and rectified. I love dealing with real people. One of my favorite places to eat when I'm not home.

Had dinner here on Friday night and it was exactly what I needed. I was very impressed with the bread, macaroni salad, and pickles they initially brought out as normally I don’t expect that much. I will say my favorite item that I had was the French onion soup. It was perfect and reasonably priced

I have been coming here for years atleast 15 years. I absolutely love and adore Lilly. She is who keeps me coming back. The food is iffy but her service is amazing. The owner is rude and disgruntled and doesn’t have a smile, happy bone or thank you in his body but he watches that register like a hawk. I go in once a week, get the cheers hello, greet Lilly and she just brings me my order which never changes. It’s a home away from home but if she was to ever leave so would I.

W🤤W Your meal starts deli style with macaroni salad, coleslaw, and pickles. The Mac is ordinary, the pickles have good crisp snap and excellent garlic flavor, but the slaw... fresh, crisp with vinegar, a touch of garlic, salt, and sugar. Loved it. Killer chicken soup with fresh white meat, carrots, and celery, just like grandma made. Next, the hot open face roast sirloin with brown gravy. They obviously roast their own. There is a touch of medium rare, tender, like butter beef. The servings are HUGE. Gravy is excellent 👌 The mashed potatoes are like grandma's. The green beans al dente'. W🤤W Dessert is their style of lemon meringue pie, just the right sweet and tart. This is the best diner we hit in years.

Our waitress, Mariel, was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We recently went for breakfast and a meeting, we were comfortably seated in an area that accommodated our discussions. The staff was lovely and the food (banana Walnut pancakes with bacon and eggs) was wonderful.

I've been going here for over 20 years. I have never been dissatisfied. The food is cooked to perfection. The staff is very friendly and has great suggestions. If you're looking for good food, i have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I highly recommend location. I don't know why you don't have a filet of sole stuff with crab meat as a suggestion.

Dined here with a group of 6 after arriving from JFK Airport after a long flight home. Was seated promptly by a cheerful person. Immediately received water and the best part, cole slaw, mac salad, large basket of rolls, crackers, breadsticks and some of the best pickles we ever had. Our order was then taken and served at a nice pace. Menu was huge as were the very generous portions. Everything was outstanding in quality and all 6 of us had doggie bags at the end of the meal. Very nice job Sherwood Diner - plan to visit again when around JFK Airport.

I’m so glad we came here instead of Applebees! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The food came fast and hot. We got bowls of coleslaw, pickles, macaroni salad and buns with butter for free as appetizers and then the portions were huge, we ate leftovers for dinner! I forgot to take more pictures because I was hungry and tired but man this place was great.

Before we even ordered we were served bowls of coleslaw and pasta salad with rolls and pickles. I honestly got full on that before my meal came. The food was good and had huge portions but was unseasoned. I had to add lots of salt and pepper. The atmosphere was a cute old school diner but nothing extraordinary. Our waitress Esha was very polite. The photo is the Romanian steak and stuffed shrimp.

I dropped by this place when I visited target. It seemed to be an original diner. The diner had a huge space. I ordered a milkshake, Chicken Quesadillas, and potato skin as an appetizer. All the food was tasty and authentic. Please be aware that dishes were amican portions so they were huge. Considering to order an appetizer it was the same as having a main dish. Highly recommended.

My recent visit to Sherwood diner was awesome. I've visited Sherwood many times in the 90's and the food, service and atmosphere was always great. Sometime in the last decade I visited and it was just okay. After some years away and some skepticism I'm so glad to say Sherwood has redeemed itself with me. The staff are welcoming, attentive and go above and beyond to accommodate patrons. During my last visit I ordered a walnut salad with grilled salmon and avocado. Wow! Huge portion, flavorful, fresh and simply delicious. I love the fresh bread, macaroni salad and cole slaw they bring out in the beginning. So good! Our waiter attended to a group of about 15 and did an excellent job. I commend them for building a great culture and keeping the food high quality. I will be returning and recommend this place to others.

Popular local diner has been here for years and years. Good go to for its good good

This diner has been here for a very long time, maybe 50 years. It is very modern and clean. The staff is very friendly. The food is good. There are breakfast specials, which are extremely reasonable. There is a large variety of specials. I feel a lot depends upon your wait person. The better the wait person, the better the meal. Most of the sandwiches are good. The fish is always fresh. I like the salmon the best. The grilled chicken is very good. The best deal at the diner is Monday and Tuesday dinner. Two people can eat for $26. That includes a choice of homemade soup, a salad, main entree, two sides, dessert, a soda, and a coffee or tea. That is a bargain for $13 a person. WOW. There is plenty of complimentary parking.

Landed here due to wife's craving for waffles. i Hop (or ihob) was the first stop but being a Sunday at 11 am the wait was 30 minutes. Then remember the diner near Taco Bell. Once we arrived we were seated immediately, although they were busy. My omelet was good, hash browns were okay (they were the scalloped potatoes version), wife enjoyed her waffles with raspberry jam, and kids drowned their silver dollar pancakes in syrup. I also enjoyed the bacon but before I could get a second piece off my plate, kids grabbed it up and it was gone. They also have some rich looking deserts (cakes, cookies). Service is decent for a diner, you will get check-in'd on every 10 minutes or so.

Hubby and daughter took me here for my birthday breakfast 2 weeks ago. Outstanding service, outstanding food, made with family style love. Since then, I've been back 4 times on my own just for dessert!

We are not strangers to Sherwood. We usually have breakfast at Sherwood. The food is good, and the service is good. Services are provided quickly and usually the wait is not very long. Staff followed covid protocols. There is a parking lot in the premise so no problems with parking. When my daughter was about 4, my late wife Sonia and I used to eat here very frequently with our daughter and it grew into a family thing.. We have lots of fun and laughs at Sherwood. I strongly believe that we should support our local businesses.

This diner has been here for many years. The servers in general get down to business and are not the chatty or warm and fuzzy types, but so what! The food is served quickly, is hot and generally very good. Portions are huge. They put out homemade coleslaw( a vinegary version) and macaroni salad ( a more savery version.) I love the Mac salad cause I hate sugary ones. My food has always been very well prepared and delicious.

Have been to the place a few times now and even though it is a dinner I love places that have consistent great food, which this place has. I wrote small notes on picture for this place to, but I just want to reiterate, what I said a little. For pancakes anyway they are one of the best up there with IHOP, and am not a big pancake person usually I eat pancakes once, twice a year, but so far I have eating PC three times this year and two of those times where at this place. Disclaimer: (I have only gotten chocolate chip pancakes). The only reason I don't give this places 5 Stars is because the staff is nice and attentive for a Time, towards the end of our visit the Waiters stop coming around and it takes some time to get their attention so you can get your bill. Only thing they need to work on!

I have come there for breakfast and the environment is great. Its the only nice place to sit down in the area. But the food is just not that good. The home fries and toast are usually cold and hard. I had a western omelette another day. It had the "salsa" was so sugary i couldn't finish it... It was a thick Marinara sauce. The music, location, ambiance all get a star...

But I just felt like I was intruding because it felt like the staff were not interested, or were agitated about something. The whole time I felt uncomfortable. Got there around 6:30pm. Not busy, sat at counter. Waitress was very nice. Ordered Farmers Omelette, took forever to get, around 20 minutes. Coffee was good however. But the place seemed neglected. Fridge was empty , where there should’ve been cakes etc, counter was empty where there should’ve been muffins etc. Oh well..

Our first time here, but the reviews were misleading. First you walk in and it smelled like sweat and ketchup. They gave us rolls with butter, and one of the rolls had a small bug baked into it. Yuck. I ordered the turkey burger and it was overly done and tasted like charcoal. My daughter got a cheese and chicken quesadilla that was very greasy and the chicken smelled funky. Oh and the guacamole came in a plastic sealed container, like from a grocery store. The waitress seemed nice but service was very slow. I don’t recommend this place for dinners at all. Maybe their breakfasts are good, but we aren’t coming back here.

My family dines here often because we have always had good experiences and the diner is close by. This particular day was an exception. Rude and Abrupt waiter and subpar food. My sister's sandwich was dry, no mayo. My dad's bread was stale. And my jalapeño poppers were cold inside. Also the waiter was rude to my dad who's older. Not a fan. Hopefully it was a one off.

Second time here, and last. The food is okay, but you need to remind them that they brought salad, which is on the menu. You have to ask for coffee to be refilled several times. And when some man, worker or manager, or owner starts yelling obscenities at the workers throughout the entire dinner, it’s disgusting to sit there.

This place must have new owners. I normally come here for breakfast. I haven't been in a while and called for carry-out. They were trying to charge me $50 for two omlettes! This place was a million times better years ago. Idk what happened. The bread was hard as a rock. The coleslaw was sweet. The macaroni salad looked like it was at its last stage of life. I was given a completely different salad than what I ordered. The replacement was missing items, the chicken was awful and there was a hair in my water.

We had a pretty disappointing visit to Sherwood Diner. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was frustrating. Our server walked away mid-order without saying anything, which was awkward and unprofessional, and it was difficult to get his attention again afterward. The diner wasn’t busy, so the lack of attentiveness stood out even more. To make matters worse, the food was expensive and not worth the value. Our steak and shrimp scampi looked very sad and was far from appetizing, especially for the price. Overall, this experience missed the mark across the board. We won’t be back, I’d honestly rather go to IHOP down the road.

The owner is the rudest person I’ve ever met. I would never come back.

I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for years and it just keeps getting worse. Tables are dirty cutlery is dirty the food is ok and the employees happen to be very nice although the owner is a miserable nasty rude man who treats everyone like he’s doing them a favor. I decided not to give them my business any longer. I don’t think anyone should support a business when the owners of that business can’t accommodate and serve the customer with a smile or a thank you. You can visit and see for yourself the man at the counter who is middle aged is absolutely a pain to look at let alone speak with. He never says hello or welcome or thank you and I’m done with them.

Slow service Server was elderly and he couldn't hear. Very little service. Green beans were overcooked, plate was dirty. Gravy was canned and probably had preservatives. Something in the food caused me to break out in hives! We are traveling so thank goodness I carry benedryl. The restaurant has deteriated so much. My husband travels from LA to NY and has enjoyed this diner for 28 years. How it has 4.2 stars is amazing! We will never go back! The health department should shut it down!

Would not recommend to non-locals. The service wasn't really friendly. The food was okay, but not really worth its value. While I was seated right away - the place was mostly empty on a Sunday afternoon - it took over ten minutes to have someone come and take my order while a couple right next to had their order taken before my order was taken. The cup my friend was drinking out of was filthy, had to ask for another one and when I informed the waiter about the cup, his demeanor was if that type of thing was normal. After reading some of the negative reviews I have to whole heartedly agree with them, this place is for locals - they get preferential treatment, not non-locals.

Ordered flounder stuffed with crabmeat, shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and a platter which included shrimp, scallops, fish, and baked clam. There were sides of salad, soup, mashed potatoes, corn, and a baked potato. When I arrived, my food was packed and waiting for me, as we reviewed my order, they had forgotten my corn, baked potato, and mashed potatoes, the waitress was nice and she didn’t take very long but she remembered each item one at a time meaning she had to return to the kitchen 3 separate times. This was not the problem though. When I got home and began to eat; I was ridiculously disappointed! OMG, the sides were all bland and tasteless. The baked potato was burnt, it was like eating a piece of a box, just dry and tasteless, the corn was equally as bad, no flavor, and the mashed potatoes were nasty as well; we had to fix that up with butter, milk, salt, garlic, and black pepper just to tolerate it. The seafood itself was pretty good except for my fish, that was kind of dry and bland. I am so disappointed because this is a place I’ve been visiting for over 30 years and it seems like they have fallen off in the past few years. All the sides left much to be desired.!

I had a very negative expirence at this "diner", I ordered some take out food. The "waitress" had an attitude. I ordered 3 large soups. They were cold. I did not bread, or cracker. I would always get bread or crackers. The restaurant was very empty, not over crowded. So there is no excuse for such low class behavior! I am complaining to get proper service. The only black girl and unprofessional as hell! She got no tip! Never going there again!

The one star is for a great waitress. Very nice and polite. Food used to be good. Has gotten worse over the years. Very expensive and smaller portions. Zero stars for the owner at the register. Tall grumpy man giving dirty looks to staff and customers. I might deal with it but when paying top dollar for poor quality food, no thanks.

Everyone including owner and manager are rude, obnoxious and not friendly at all!! I have seen mice and roaches in this place omg so disgusting please please for goodness avoid this place

Went there for breakfast, The waitress that seated us looked like just our presence pissed her off 😑 her clothes didn't look very clean either, Her fingernails were not the cleanest. Place looked dingy didn't have a warm atmosphere at all..She brought us coffee and was rushing to take our order..We paid for the coffee and left.

The food was extremely salty, and the bread was soaking wet. I couldn't finish it, I got the vibe that the waitress didn't want to be bothered, so I paid and left. The portion size is pretty decent.

Would give zero stars if I could. Came here for lunch. We were seated and waited about 10 min with Noone even coming to bring water or take orders. There was a couple in the same area as us who was finished eating and had been waiting to get to go containers. After the woman walked to find someone the waitress brought them containers and walked off. Once of us went over to get someone's attention to remind them that we were still waiting. Anther few minutes go by with no service. We get up to walk out and one young lady ask if everything is ok. We reply that we never got service. You would think she would offer an apology or try to have us reseat and take an order. Disgusting service to say the least! Never would I step foot in here and I'll make sure that I spread the word about their horrible services. We are consumers need to hold these businesses to a certain standard. When I'm spending my money i expect quality products and service

Ordered 2 beyond burger and 1 hamburger but server gave all 3 same hamburger. It was taken back without confirming and they now served all 3 beyond burger. Waited 1 hour plus for our food. Patty was cold. I don’t how they are serving beyond burgers. At the end we went to MacDonald to save us time and eat something quick. Wasted our time.

The only good thing was the stuffed mushrooms. I delayed going to this place for years & i see y. Waste of money. Shoulda went with my 1st instinct and went to the supermarket

Food is DISGUSTING and way too overpriced we took the stuff to go cuz we couldn’t get ourselves to finish the food and the waiter asked if we wanted it to go go cuz we barely touched anything, so I took it to be nice 🤷‍♀️The portions are tiny , the home fries are gross and the food is flavorless. My fiancé got a grilled cheese sandwich it came with no sides and it was tiny and dry. We ordered 1 grilled cheese sandwich , mozzarella sticks, two hot chocolates and two omelettes it came out to 50$ NASTY!
