801 Chophouse – Where Great Food Meets Even Better People If you’re in Leawood and looking for a place that gets everything right — from food to feeling — 801 Chophouse is the spot. It’s classy but not stiff, elegant but still inviting. The moment you walk in, you know you’re in good hands. The bar is top-tier with a strong whiskey lineup, excellent cocktails, and wines for every taste. But the real standout? The people. This isn’t just a team — it’s a crew that clearly knows and likes each other. You get the sense they’ve worked together for years, sharing laughs, inside jokes, and probably a few post-shift stories. You can almost tell who’s dating who, who’s trying to eat healthy, and who hit snooze one too many times this morning — and that just makes it all feel real. The vibe here is genuine. It’s not polished to perfection — it’s better than that. It’s warm, natural, and comfortable in the best way. The kind of place where the service feels like chatting with a neighbor you actually like. As for the food? Thoughtfully prepared, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. Whether you’re going all-in on a steak or sticking to lighter options, the quality is top-notch. This is one of those rare spots where everything clicks — food, service, and energy. And yes, I’ll be back. Probably sooner than later.
Best steak I’ve had in years! Thank you so much for the wonderful dining experience!
Tried the off the menu wagyu filet steak, broiled at 1700 degrees. I have never, ever had a better steak. The steak was cooked to medium and was able to be cut with a fork, okay almost. Bela, our Hungarian waiter was fantastic showing our party of 6 all the cuts of meat even those off the menu special cuts. Also had the French green beans and sautéed spinach, all fantastic. Had some merlot and a Hungarian wine dessert along with a taste of the following desserts: pistachio,, key lime, carrot cake, and creme brulee all very tasty.
The meat selection is unbelievable and it was cooked to perfection. The souffle was worth the wait. Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable.
My first time dining at this restaurant. I went with friends and family, and was blown away by the ambiance, the food, the service, and the experience. Nick was our maitre d and he was attentive in every detail. I ordered the 16 oz ribeye with truffle butter and it was delectable. I ended my meal with a New York cheesecake with blueberry compote.
We had one of our meals EVER.I had the big bone in Ribeye my WIFE had a filet and the sides were all Great. We had left overs next day was also great . Our SERVER CHICO was very good. And helped with what side was the BEST. IT WAS OUR 33 YEARS ANNIVERSARY. WILL GO BACK SOON WILL GET THE PORTERHOUSE NEXT TIME CAN'T WAIT TERRY G
If I could give 10 stars I would! Wonderful experience from the time we pulled up to park till the time we left! Madison was our amazing server which did a stellar job! We will absolutely be back!
Our family has never had such an amazing dining experience!! From booking reservations, thanks, Austin, to being placed in a private room, total class all the way. Thanks to Austin and Chris for their loving hospitality. Now for Vito. Best waiter we have ever had. He treated our family like his own. We loved him so much! ❤️ Our Mom died in March and we were having a celebration of life for her. She would've Loved 801!!! Thank you all again for an absolutely wonderful time. Vito, we love you, and you were pure gold. Sorry we overtipped you!!!!! We would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks to everyone at 801 for such a memorable experience! Love 💘 ❤️ 😍 you all
Went for restaurant week and it was top 2 steaks that I have ever had. Very pricey normally but if you want a place for special occasion type of place the quality of the food will make it special. For restaurant week menu I chose for the appetizer the 801 Chop wedge with blue cheese crumble and dressing. The cut bacon diced on it blew my mind. Entree I had the Filet and for dessert Raspberry Cheesecake. The entire experience was fantastic. Waiter was kind and the floor manager was great.
An Unforgettable Evening of Culinary Excellence at 801 Chophouse My wife and I recently enjoyed an exquisite dinner at 801 Chophouse, a truly top-tier dining experience that began and ended perfectly. I highly recommend securing a reservation, as this is the kind of place you don't want to miss. Appetizer: A Masterpiece Crab Cake We started the evening with the Maryland Jumbo Crab Cake, which was, without exaggeration, one of the best I have ever tasted. It had an amazing buttery flavor that genuinely melted in the mouth. The crab meat was remarkably sweet and succulent—an absolute triumph and a fantastic start to the meal. Exceptional Salads For our intermediate course, I chose the Wedge Salad. I requested it modified to hold the blue cheese dressing and crumbles, opting for ranch served on the side. Even with the modification, it was superb, featuring fresh Campari tomatoes and beautifully smoked bacon lardon. The smoky flavor of the bacon was incredibly intense and fresh, giving the salad a rustic, authentic touch. My wife opted for the classic Caesar Salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed for its light dressing, crisp romaine, quality croutons, and a substantial, nicely sized Parmesan cheese wafer, topped off with anchovies. Delectable Entrees Our main courses were equally impressive. I had the Pan Seared Hawaiian Ahi Tuna. It was cooked so perfectly that you could literally cut it with the side of a fork. The dish was nothing short of amazing and completely delectable, with a complementary sauce and perfectly sautéed vegetables. My wife's choice, the Mowi Salmon, was pan-seared to absolute perfection. It was amazingly cooked, remarkably flakey, and the crust provided the perfect savory stability to the incredibly tender interior. The Must-Have Side We shared a large side of the Maple Bourbon Glazed Carrots. I cannot recommend this dish enough if you enjoy carrots. They were very nicely done and provided a wonderful, sweet-savory complement to both the seafood entrées. Sweet Endings We concluded the meal with two fantastic desserts. I had what I consider the best Carrot Cake I’ve ever eaten—so much so that I had to take an extra serving home! It was served perfectly with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. My wife enjoyed the rich, yet surprisingly light, Brooklyn Blackout Cake. It offered a very smooth and delicious chocolate flavor, beautifully complemented by a creamy mousse. 801 Chophouse is a must-visit for anyone looking for a truly memorable dining experience marked by quality ingredients and flawless execution.
The Sunday Ritual That Ruined All Other Steakhouses For Me🥩 Ever had a dining experience so perfect it becomes your measuring stick for all others? That's what happened the first time I slid into a window seat at 801 Chophouse in Leawood. Now my Sundays have a sacred schedule: yoga, nap, and the best steak in Kansas City. I used to think all high-end steakhouses were basically the same until 801's Sunday Supper menu came into my life. The moment you walk in, the classic 1920s steakhouse ambiance wraps around you like a warm blanket – all rich wood, white tablecloths, and that unmistakable energy of a place that takes its craft seriously. My ritual begins with the 801 Wedge – a seemingly simple salad that somehow transcends its ingredients with a blue cheese dressing so creamy and flavorful it should be illegal in at least seven states! 😂 Then comes the star: a 6oz Filet Mignon De Burgo that's so tender you could cut it with a stern look. Paired with their garlic mashed potatoes and perfectly grilled asparagus, it's the kind of meal that makes conversation stop and eyes close involuntarily. Meanwhile, my husband follows his own tradition: caesar salad (which he insists is the benchmark by which all others should be judged), the Mowi Salmon that converts even the most dedicated carnivores, and their housemade sorbet that somehow tastes more like the fruit than the fruit itself. The experience is elevated further by their GreenCoat staff – professionals who understand the delicate art of attentive service without hovering. They remember your preferences, make spot-on recommendations, and somehow know exactly when you need them and when you don't. Insider tip: Request a window seat in the bar area for the perfect blend of ambiance and people-watching. And don't skip the crème brûlée – that perfectly caramelized top giving way to silky custard is worth every calorie.🤤 Some people have Sunday football, others have family dinners – we have 801 Chophouse, where USDA Prime isn't just a grade of meat, it's a philosophy that extends to every aspect of the experience. After all, why settle for an ordinary Sunday when you can have one that's rare and well-done at the same time? 😉 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
So it's kinda a story. The restaurant we wanted to eat at was not open due to weather so we meandered into this restaurant because who doesn't like steak? We walk in and right away we know we're under dressed the host is in a tie and the servers are all in jackets. Most of the clientele in the bar are in suits. It's old timey feeling for certain and the host looks at us asks if we have a reservation which of course we don't since this was a last minute decision but he was totally like "Not a problem. Let me see if I can find you a table". Not even bothered that we're in jeans and casual jackets so total kudos to him. He had us seated in the bar at a booth in under 5 minutes in the bar area. We never made it to the main dining room but the bar was gorgeous. It had a rolling ladder along the liquor shelf and it was fun to watch. However, I digress. We're now seated in a booth about 20 ft from the door which leads to the frigid outdoors from the storm rolling in and we're pretty well protected from the cold air. I don't need any of my extra layers so we're good there. Comfortable table is secured! Now we have our menus and hubby and I are discussing what we want and what we think we may need to get through the next day at least. We're approached for our drinks by one of our servers as they work in teams. I order a boulevard wheat and hubby orders a whiskey smash. I'm sad to say no photos of the drinks but his whiskey smash was probably one of if not the best whiskey based drink I've ever tasted (not a huge whiskey fan personally) but the mint blackberry combination was just amazing. My beer was a beer lol. So our second server approaches is to take our food order. I am so sorry I don't have names. I am awful at remembering them. But we explain a little of what we're doing and that we will require boxes and she gives some guidance on about how much we should order to get through the next night. So we put in our order. She asks if we want our soup with the appetizer and explain we'd like it spread out and she is like no problem. Our food was timed to perfection. Onto the food! Meatballs - Not italian style with marinara. It comes with a mushroom sauce that was amazing. It had some slight heat to it as well which was surprisingly pleasant. After the meatballs the chowder came next. The chowder was also delicious!!! Pieces of lobster in a slightly spicy corn chowder with a side of crackers that you can add or not add to your liking. At this point I'm looking at hubby going I think the bar is too high. There's no way the food is going to continue to be this delicious. He's all like let's just enjoy it because you never know. You never can know but we've had that disappointment before... I can certainly say the rest of the meal was just as epic as the starters. So our main courses come out. We each ordered a 12oz filet knowing we were having left overs both are cooked to perfection. Mine was rare with a crust. Hubby requested medium rate and his was cooked too perfection as well. I had a topping of mushroom sauce and cognac butter. This sauce was the same as the meatballs. I was not disappointed. Hubby had a topping of au poivre which was also very delicious. We each requested these on the side to be able to decided how little our much we wanted with our steak. This was also a recommendation from our server. Gold star to her! Onto the sides! Garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. They were tangy, super creamy, and definitely full of garlic. It was everything I could've hoped and dreamed of for garlic mashed potatoes. Baked potato was delicious as well. It was perfectly cooked. The bacon and cheese were of high quality. I appreciated that the butter and sour cream came on the side. The macaroni and cheese what can I say? The pasta was perfectly cooked it wasn't soggy but a perfect al dente so it had bite that went very well with their cheese sauce and bread crumb topping. Once again so delicious. Dessert= divine I'm out of characters lol
My first visit to 801. Our food was great. Our wait staff was attentive for the whole nite. And the atmosphere was impressive. Top notch restaurant at a commensurate price.
First time visiting this establishment and it did not disappoint! Our server was very kind and attentive and amazing! She was so sweet and patient with us •͈ᴗ•͈ I forgot her name but she has short, platinum blonde hair! What amazing service she provided for us this evening! We came for a birthday today and we were very pleased with our dining experience. The dessert was complimentary for the birthday boy! Our food came out reasonably quick and it all tasted so fresh! I got the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna for $48. The bread was sourdough and very fresh! I would so come again to celebrate something special •͈ᴗ•͈ our waitress really went above and beyond for us tonight. Parking: 2/5 Rather troublesome. I had to park all the way in town center and walk over here. They had valet but I’m not sure if I had to pay for it or not so I just opted to park myself. Wait time: 5/5 We had made prior reservations so seating is took little to no time. Atmosphere: 5/5 Very business casual/elegant dining. Attire: Business casual Service: 5/5 Amazing. Everybody greeted us with a smile.
801 Chophouse provides a distinctly upscale and classic steakhouse experience, marked by an atmosphere of refined elegance and dark wood accents. The restaurant features a premium price point, positioning it perfectly for celebratory occasions such as a milestone birthday or formal gathering. Guests can anticipate exceptional quality steaks and an impeccable level of personalized service, ensuring every patron feels valued. This is a premier destination for sophisticated dining.
This was a first for us - our 30th Anniversary. Food and service was impeccable. Appetizers through dessert lasted approx 1hr 40min. Steaks were cooked perfectly, and I don’t think we’ve ever had a better crab cake. $400 for 2 people, without drinks is a bit over the top, but there was so much to try. Would definitely go again, and pare down to something more reasonable that doesn’t leave us taking home an entire meal in leftovers. Our waitress was amazing. Always there, but not hovering, very personable. The free Anniversary dessert, and single stem rose was an amazing unexpected touch. 5 stars all around.
I had dinner in this restaurant for a friends birthday. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staffs were super friendly. So many amazing stuff to choice from. Since we were a big group, I had a chance to try a few different dish and all of them were tasty. The salmon was my absolute favorite. It was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. This is without a doubt one of the best high end restaurant in Kansas City area.
One of the places where everything is cooked to perfection, with the right flavor and temperature. I’ve never had a bad steak there. Once, I had a simple issue, but they took great care of it and made sure I would come back.
This dinner experience was exceptional. Our server, Maxwell, was one of the best servers I have ever had. He was knowledgeable, attentive and very friendly. I highly recommend their oysters, you can order them individually or 1/2 & full dozen. I enjoyed the west coast variety. My steak that I ordered was a 16 oz ribeye with blue cheese potatoes and mushroom pan roast. Everything was cooked to perfection and the meal was extremely satisfying. If you’re in the area and your budget allows, I would suggest you treat yourself and enjoy a dining experience here.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the 801 Chophouse, and it was, without a doubt, one of the best steak experiences I've ever had. The quality of the steak was simply unparalleled - cooked to perfection, each bite was a delightful journey of flavors. But the excellence didn't stop at the food. Their wine selection was impressive, featuring a range of choices that perfectly complemented the meal. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just enjoy a good glass, you'll be pleasantly surprised by their curated selections. The service at the 801 Chophouse was phenomenal. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in ensuring a great dining experience. They provided recommendations that enhanced our meal and attended to our every need with a smile.
Our 801 Chophouse experience was absolutely top notch from start to finish. The moment we walked in we were greeted individually by each employee we saw. Once seated, our server gave us excellent suggestions and descriptions of drinks, apps and specials. The ambiance is dark but warm. The food was served in perfect times and was oh so delicious. You do pay out for such service and quality but it was worth it for a special occasion. We cannot wait until our next visit! A couple of our favorites from our visit include the New Fashioned cocktail, crab cake appetizer, and any of the aged steaks.
Went for my Wife’s birthday and had an absolutely amazing time. Our server was maybe the best we’ve ever had with the kids. He took the girls to the lobster tank and showed them lobsters up close. It was great!
We dined here tonight during restaurant week and for my boyfriend’s birthday and loved it. Food was phenomenal, steaks were great and the creme brûlée was delicious. Masha was our server and was very attentive and sweet.
Hands down one of THE BEST places for HH. If you are lucky and happen to snag a spot in the bar, go ahead, order everything on the HH menu. The bartenders and staff are so friendly and kind. The food was magnificent. Sooo good. The crab cakes were amazing. It was possibly the best ones I’ve had. The crabmeat was plentiful and huge.
We celebrated Johnny’s 35th Birthday tonight at the #1 Top Steakhouse in all of Kansas! Special thanks to Austin, Vido and Seth for making our dinner event super spectacular! The Service, food and ambiance was above and beyond perfection! Plus you never know when you’ll see your favorite Chief or Royal player here on any given night! Thank you 801 Chop House in Park Place Center, Leawood: (The Beverly Hills, “Rodeo Drive” of Kansas)!
This is the best meal anyone could ever ask for. The staff is out of this world, but down to earth. Don't wait take someone you love and have a great time.
O.M.G idk why it took so long for me to come here, but I absolutely loved ever moment of this experience. Robert to really good care of us which such good grace and very memorable personality ✨️ And I found Nick is the artist behind the talented Napkin folding (I would for you to teach how you do the tree folding) but down to the cuisines because this wasn't food baby. I had the most delicious oysters Rockefeller 😋 EVER. Nothing is compared to it, I swear I could 2 dozen easily but I had 6 I mean just perfect. Then they slap christmas joy in my mouth with their Steak tartar OMG heavenly delicious and to wash it down I had a beautiful yet elegant grapefruit cocktail that was like a ribbon bow tie on the appetizers. Just when you think your done I order the bone in prime rib medium well with hash the presentation was almost to beautiful to eat but the smell coming from makes you wanna eat it like a caveman lol. I definitely left with leftovers that was package nicely for me and husband we was celebrating 🍾 my birthday in which they out it one the menu for me I even got a happy birthday song from Robert..he was awesome definitely have make this my to go #1 spot
Fancy and intimate setting with excellent service and cuisine! We were celebrating a birthday and they put birthday confetti on the table, gave us menus with “happy birthday” printed on it, and a complimentary dessert with a message! Great spot for special occasions.
Came here to celebrate my birthday as I heard alot of rave reviews and it was one of the few places I saw I could get some A5 Wagyu steak. First and foremost, the steak was fantastic. Staff recommended getting it medium done but I think next time I'd get it as rare as possible. Appetizer was the tuna tartare and that was fantastic. I expected it to be chewer but it was damn near melt in your mouth. Highly recommend. Salad was the compressed watermelon. Having never had a salad with watermelon, let alone pistachio, it was really good. Main course was 8oz of A5 Wagyu (this was $280 alone as it's $35 per oz ), some mushroom and broccoli. Overall it was a great but I do have some nitpicks. The way their steaks are done, there is a heavy char all over the meat. I imagine on a thicker cut this would be fine but on a more delicate cut like this, it loses alot of the flavor in the edges. Center where it was closer to rare was absolutely amazing and melt in your mouth. The real highlight, surprisingly was the broccoli. It was cooler to perfection with alot of crunch and flavor still in it. Lastly, they comp'd me a desert as I listed this was for my birthday. Had the chocolate souffle and it was alright. It was a little too rich for my tastes after having the wonderful steak and tuna tartare. Overall, I would go again but only if it was on someone else's dime. Expect to pay a minimum of $150 per person no matter what you get but it will be great.
Superb dining experience! Top notch knowledgeable staff in regards to food, and wine & spirits. They have a massive selection of wines to choose from & with help from the very attentive manager ,Austin?? You cannot go wrong!
Everything is great at this place. We went there for my wife's birthday and I wasn't disappointed at all. Customized Menu under her name , Food is great, and the guy who served us wasn't tired of our kids', continuous questions the atmosphere. I mean, it's just great.
Food and service was outstanding. I hosted a large dinner meeting a few months and Austin from catering did an awesome job. Enjoyed it so much I brought some friends to dinner last night and had a great time
The food was good and customer service and hospitality was exceptional! Austin was extremely courteous and accommodating! Our server Lauren was patient with our large party, professional, and very personable. We all had a great experience! Definitely recommend!
We recently had the chance to try this place while hosting our leadership team from out of state, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service, ambiance, and food were all top notch. If you’re a true steakhouse fan, this spot is a must-visit!
I am a steak snob and this is one of the best filets I’ve ever had. We had a total of 5 with us and everyone was raving about how good their steaks were and the all the food tasted. In addition to the steaks we got a couple apps, Caesar salads, French Onion Soup, added lobster tail to some of the steaks, and the family style sides. Everyone was full at the end so we ended up getting dessert to go and I the carrot cake was terrific. I would highly recommend and if has the whiskey flavored steak available it’s an absolute must.
We had a really good dinner here. The food was all excellent. I had roasted chicken which is normally a boring choice for a nice restaurant, but it was delicious.
Our food was perfect! Our server was great! Food is definitely very pricey, but, it was delicious and worth a try. A great place to go for special events or celebration dinner.
Went there for the first time, it was my birthday and they took great care of us and had one of the best meals I've had in my life at 37 years old! Amazing food and generous pours of spirits and wine with a awesome selection in the bar. I suggest you try this place as it is very much worth the price!
Amazing steakhouse! The food was cooked perfectly. Juicy, flavorful, and tender. Great service, friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely one of the best steak dinners I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend!
My husband and I went to the Leawood location for our 20th wedding Anniversary. The email confirmation for the reservation said they offered valet parking - they did not. The restaurant was very nice. Loved the atmosphere and music (Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, etc.). The food was OK, but not great. The scallops were undercooked and the ribeye (which was $70) was overly-charred on the outside, especially the edges. The dessert was great, as was the staff. Considering the price though, we will probably not go back (Don't go unless you're prepared to spend $75 - $100/person). The quality of the food just doesn't justify the price. One other observation was that on the night we were there, the restaurant was very quiet, only about 5 other couples in the entire place; however, a group of 5 guys who had obviously spent too much time at the bar were seated only 2 tables away from ours. They were clearly intoxicated, loud and using profanity. Fortunately it was near the end of our meal, otherwise I would have given this a MUCH lower rating. Management and staff need to stay aware of situations like this and how it will impact future business. When you go to a restaurant like this you don't expect to have to tolerate that, especially when they could have been seated far away from other couples who are there for a nice quiet meal.
This place is a favorite steak house choice from the first time trying it for a birthday experience. The quality of steaks and sides are great and will satisfy any appetite. It's a good place to celebrate with your spouse for a special event or family dinner with top shelf drinks to match. The variety of steak cuts to choose from are amazing like the bone-in prime rib or filet mignon. I enjoyed the meal and will be back for more!
We had a very enjoyable evening service was top notch I wouldn't say the food was anything to complain about it was very good but very pricey as well so be prepared for that I believe you would probably enjoy yourself
The Wife and I was here for Valentines Day. Because of that we had a table by the bar, and that is far from romantic. That being said, it was actually almost quiet there, and turned out to be a non issue. The preparation and presentation was excellent. The filet medallions had a crisp and tasty char, the lobster was moist and tender. The crab was perfectly cooked and cut. The asparagus was very tasty and the lobster mac & cheese was fantastic! Sure, it's a little bit pricey for the ambience, but the food quality and service truly make up for that. Nicholas, our waiter, was knowledgeable, personable, and attentive without being bothersome. Very professional and a asset to the company. We will be back soon.
Honestly, steak should be managed better. My $143 steak was average at best. Appreciated they do not auto add the tip. Wait staff were professional but somewhat slow, had to ask for a drink refill twice while others at the table were cared for???
Very disappointing. I have dined here before and had a good experience. But on this New Year Eve, my steak was over cooked and had a grainy texture. The scalloped potatoes were chewy. On the positive side, the lobster corn soup and Key Lime Pie were outstanding.
We went for a special dinner. Got sat right away with reservations. Our server was wonder full. Food was fine. But for the bang for you buck the atmosphere was awful. It was so packed that you got jostled every time someone needed to pass and we are not huge people. It was so loud that our party of 5 couldn't hold a conversation. I left full but felt unfulfilled. No conversation and constantly moving to help people pass was not how I had planned the evening.
This spot is well-suited for a work outing or a casual get-together with friends, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a romantic date. The food was solid—I'd give it a 4 out of 5 overall. Most dishes were good, though not particularly memorable, with the exception of the Caesar salad, which was truly outstanding. The atmosphere left something to be desired. It was extremely loud, making conversation difficult, and the bright lighting gave the space more of a grocery store vibe than a cozy dining experience. Definitely not ideal if you're looking for an intimate setting. On the plus side, the service was excellent—attentive and friendly throughout the meal.
If I could give 0 stars I would! When I walked in the place with my boyfriend we were not greeted, there a server walked past us bumping into us, didn't even stay for the food the service was not there
My husband and I went here for my birthday after reading several outstanding reviews. This was our first trip to the area, and we wanted to end the trip with a nice meal. We were quickly greeted and lead to our table, and we noticed a large party table right next to us. We didn’t think much of it after reviewing the menu online and reviews. Unfortunately, within five minutes of us placing our dinner order the group walked in. A family with seven children were the large group. From the minute they walked into the restaurant the entire mood was destroyed. They were not well behaved, loud, and no where near being dressed for a business casual establishment. Our waitress was also working this table which caused our service to diminish greatly. We ended up waiting about forty minutes for our steaks and potatoes which were not hot by the time it made it to our table. The manager never stopped by our table or any of the others the entire time we were there, as he was choosing to hide in the corner away from our and all the other patrons scowls of disgust. All of the diners kept making eye contact with each other from across the room hoping for a little reprieve. We enjoy visiting fine dining steakhouses and have been to several in places across the country. I would not choose to go back to 801 Chophouse after this experience.
My husband and I visited this restaurant last night to celebrate my birthday. He made a reservation in advance and clearly noted that it was for his wife’s birthday. However, while we were ordering, our server said to my husband, “I can’t believe this is for your mom’s birthday. She looks more like your sister than your mom.” For context, my husband and I are the same age. I was genuinely shocked by the comment, and by the time I processed what had just been said, the server had already walked away. Later in the service, my husband clarified that I am his wife, yet the server never offered any apology or acknowledgment. I found this comment extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable. In a restaurant of this caliber, I would expect a higher level of professionalism from the staff. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Despite the food being very good, we will not be returning.
