Opinions de Fat Cow BBQ Lewisville
Absolutely incredible. Awesome brisket, flavorful Jalapeno cheese sausage, awesome jalapeño poppers, really tasty barbecue sauce. Great potato salad only thing that I wasn’t a huge fan of the mac & cheese because it was kind of watery, but it still had great flavor.
Update: we stopped back in here 2 days later on our travel back to East Texas and ate again! The same amazing atmosphere and customer service. This round we had the sliced Brisket, which is just slices of heaven to be honest. The most tender and moist Brisket with the yummy crust just cooked to perfection. We got a half rack of ribs which again were amazing! And of course we had to get Al's amazing tacos! Al also had us try his "dirty nachos" and let me tell you... ignore everything below because they are phenomenal. They are traditional in the since of Messy but oh my the flavors!!! We absolutely enjoyed it. Don't forget the watermelon sweet tea. To top it off we snagged a piece of homemade pecan pie and another piece of the heavenly homemade apple pie. Hands down the best pie we've eaten, even cold. Still our #1 recommend if you're in the Lewisville area, or even within an hour, because it's just that good!!! ......................................................................... Original : The BEST BBQ my husband and I have ever had, hands down! The service to start was absolutely amazing. Al made recommendations to us and did not do us wrong! We tried the ribs, which are so tender and flavorful! The spicy BBQ is soooo good. The Brisket tacos are phenomenal! This was recommended by AL and we were soooo impressed. These are the most filling and delicious tacos. Omg my mouth is still watering. The fat japs with that homemade ranch is delicious! The last thing we ordered was called a Brisket Sundae. This is an off the menu item that I happened to see in another review. It did not disappoint. Al's homemade beans are perfect with this. The Mac and cheese is so Creamy and you can tell it's made with real cheese and milk. The cherry on top was the Texas country music playing during our dinner. And the wonderful conversation with the owners. Also, we were gifted a slice of homemade apple pie that not only looks delicious but smells like heaven. We cannot wait to try it. Stop by and try this place! You will not be disappointed.
my absolute favorite family owned business, atmosphere is great, food is even better! the people who work here really care about you, Thomas was the best! very caring
Omg so I first have to say You haven’t had sweet tea until you experienced it hear! But that’s only the beginning. If you love great flavor and tender meats this is your place! Also the staff is super sweet! Absolutely hands down one of my new go to spots in Lewisville ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amazing experience! The atmosphere was super calm and clean inside and the food was incredibly delicious. The pulled pork and the barbecue sauce was so good. The service was amazing. We came after a rush so a lot of stuff was out and they offered fresh rolls and cookies. Great place
I’ve been coming here for almost a year .. and I promise it doesn’t get any better than FAT COW BBQ! I’m from Louisiana and this is true BBQ. I love the ribs, SUPERR TENDER !, the sides are amazing as well and the energy here is AMAZING!!! It’s always laugh and smile when I come see Al and Pam 🤎. I’m excited to see the changes that Brad will bring to the business and will continue to show my support! #FATCOW4L
We saw this place on our way to a store and had to try and let me just say... the food, the service and the owners are out of this world kind, caring and soooo super friendly! We absolutely 💯 fell in love with this place and as avid restaurant people, we will definitely be going back again to this BBQ place! Highly recommend 👌 👍
Decided to visit this place based on the reviews. Immediately welcomed by the owner Allen who had the most amazing personality and made some great recommendations. Definitely try the brisket tacos with the bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeño in the middle. Probably the best taco I’ve had in my entire life!
We visited Fat Cow BBQ because of the positive Google reviews. According to the menu, Fat Cow has won the Best of Denton County every year 2015 - 2019. After tasting the brisket, we understand why. The chopped and sliced brisket has a wonderful smoky flavor. No BBQ sauce needed. I order the 1 meat plate with 2 sides and a roll. My dining companion ordered the sandwich and 2 sides. Very flavorful and a good value. We highly recommend brisket along with the Mac & cheese, baked beans, and Cole slaw sides. During our visit, most customers seemed to be regulars (based on how the owner greeted them) and ordered a 1/2 pound of meat and a side. The sandwich bread and rolls are tasty and fresh, but I’m going with the 1/2 pound meat at my next visit. The restaurant has a nice rustic decor, located at the end of a strip shopping center. Definitely worth a visit.
Fat Cow BBQ embodies the spirit and culinary pleasure of all things uniquely Texan. To say their barbecue is awesome is weighing in lightly. There are so many accolades to give — for starters, the best chopped beef sandwich around. I rarely order those, but at Fat Cow it’s a must. Secondly, the brisket is seasoned better than most, served up in generous portions with a bottle of their spicy homemade sauce is what every BBQ addict dreams of. This is a one-off original spot that can’t be replicated — an authentic hole in the wall. Best yet, the owners are fun, friendly, and downright hilarious. Love them and this rather rare and underrated treasure. Hurry in before it gets discovered.
First, how can you pass a place called Fat Cow BBQ? Second this place proves you can find authentic barbecue in a strip shopping center. The food was great but that's not what is special about this place, there's a lot of places that have great food. What is special is you can tell there's a love for barbecue, they love talking about it, they love sharing it with people, is the kind place where they're so proud of what they do their happiness is in the fact that they get to share it with you. Make sure you try the jalapeno sausage and the red onion potato salad. Most importantly if you happen to be there on one of those rare special days when they have cherry jubilee cookies, steady yourself, it may be one of the best cookies I've ever had in my life. You will hate yourself if you don't try it, and of course you will end up taking more home with you. This is an absolutely delightful little place where you can really feel the love for q!
I have been here multiple times over the years for lunch. Food has always been good. This was rhe first time I came here since it was sold to new owners. The old owners were alot friendlier when you came in. The barbecue sandwich seemed like it had less meat than normal. Sides were good. I will be back.
The ribs were pull apart tender, and the pulled pork was nice and juicy, but the chicken was a little bit dry. The Coleslaw was a tasty side dish and the Mac and cheese was heavenly. Over all 4 out of 5 meal, just wish I would have grabbed more sauce on the way out after picking up the order.
I had ordered from Fat Cow BBQ. We had their ribs, brisket , spicy pinto beans and corn as sides. The ribs fell off the bone and had flavor , the brisket was chopped which was new to me. The spicy pinto beans was flavorful and had good flavor of jalapeno. The corn was ok. Surely a 'might try again' place.
Stopped here for lunch while working in the area. I live in Fort Worth, which has a very competitive bbq scene. This place wouldn’t make it out there. The Positives were the man at the counter, which I presumed to be the owner had great customer service. He was laughing, joking and shaking hands with customers. The establishment was extremely clean. Climate was comfortable. Other than those two things which are commendable, it wouldn’t be enough to bring me back and spend money to eat here. I had the three meat plate , which included 2 sides and a roll. Although the portions were fair and price was industry standard for a good bbq joint, the food quality and taste was poor. The people I see in some reviews talking about how great the brisket is must not be used to eating top notch briskets at places like Hurtado, Heim or Terry Blacks amongst others even though this place is pretty identical in pricing . I had ham , which you could tell was a lower quality vendor bought ham, the sliced brisket , which although seemed to have decent bark on it , was extremely bland and even though I got a fattier cut , it was not very moist and on the dry side. The smoked off the bone chicken came to me served as pulled chicken , and although it was the most seasoned thing on the plate, a better way to serve or prepare this would have been sliced breast or simply serving it on the bone. Shredded it was a bit mushy . The sides of green beans had bacon and onion , but were extremely bland with little to no seasoning. The spicy pinto beans had good flavor , but when served to me they were barely luke warm, and by the time I actually got around to eating them they were basically cold. The roll was crusty on the outside but dry on the inside and not soft or fluffy This place has a lot of stepping up to do in terms of seasoning and quality of menu items served. I can see this establishment receiving inflated reviews due to the previously mentioned great customer service, but the food is basically elderly white people food cafeteria food.
We got all of our food in a timely fashion. They offered several options for sides that were not bad and were in large containers. The cashier took my order and he was quick about making sure that the food was put into the containers that it was not spilling and that it was paid. I did not wait in line long at all as I was the only one in the store. I was immediately serviced upon entering the store and greeted by the cashier. The rolls were great to use as sandwich buns for the chicken and for the beef. The ribs did not have barbecue sauce on them but they were tender none the less and not overcooked or burned. All of the sides were still hot and they were seasoned okay for someone who is salt sensitive. The accompanying jalapeno peppers, the onions, and both dill and sweet pickles were also great to go with the food.
I came through today and ordered two meals — a 2-meat plate and a 3-meat plate. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 13 years and have always ordered the shredded chicken. Instead of the shredded chicken breast I’ve gotten for over a decade, I was given a leg quarter — which is absolutely not the same thing. If the menu has changed, that should be clearly stated so long-time customers aren’t blindsided. To make it worse, none of the food was hot, and the chicken on both plates was clearly not freshly made. The mac and cheese was watered down, my pinto beans had stringy, worm-looking pieces in them, and the green beans tasted like nothing but water with bacon. This was extremely disappointing, and based on today’s experience, I honestly can’t say I’ll be returning anytime soon.
I really wanted to like this place but the last two times I have been here the brisket just didn't taste good. The meat is always dry and hard. Love the side dishes but the last time they put way to much black pepper in the Mac and cheese. And I usually don't buy bbq unless I can see it being sliced. This really sucks because I truly wanted to like the food here. Service is great and I wish you luck in the future.
