Just got back from Tokyo and wanted a fix. I can't believe I haven't tried this place before. I felt like I was back, aside from the fact that I didn't have to wait an hour to secure one of eight seats in a random basement. We had a couple appetizers and don, all of it was spot on. Portions are massive, especially for Livermore pricing. Great place for any occasion and the food is exactly like you're at a top rated spot in Tokyo. Will be in our regular rotation!

My son loves the Geso Karage, chicken Karage and Beef Udon. The people there are super friendly and kind and professional. I’m with my small kid, they’re very patient and provide excellent service! Highly recommend and I will definitely return!

Great foods. Generous portion. Friendly and attentive service. Everything we ordered tasted good. Takoyaki, oysters, curry katsu don, stir fry udon. The oyakodon was specially enjoyable to me.

First time there. Excellent experience. Super friendly staff and really good, affordable food! Fast service and clean. The only thing I would change is the temperature of the restaurant, It was a bit warm. So if you don't like to eat fresh hot food while sitting in a warm restaurant take it to go.

The people in the store are very wonderful. The food looks amazing and tastes amazing. Also, I would recommend anybody to come here to get food. It is beautiful.

Hands down, that is the damn best sukiyaki I’ve had not in Japan - perfect balance of sweet and umami - many Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area screw this dish up so much that I’m low-key traumatized to order this dish normally. So glad I did because when done right like this place does - it has the potential of surpassing udon and ramen broth.

My wife and I had been meaning to visit this new place for Japanese katsu-don downtown, and not did they not disappoint! The owners were super nice and the katsu and oysters was freshly fried and seasoned well. Excited to come back again and try out the other items on the menu!

Had a great experience! Food portions are bigger than I expected, so I definitely could have gone without ordering a second item. Great prices for amount of food and it was delicious! The server was so kind and very on top of our service. It was a busy night and she apologized for the wait, but honestly, I think we maybe waited 10-15 minutes? Which didn’t feel like anything abnormal while waiting for a meal. I also left my to-go container by accident and she tracked me down outside to make sure I had it. Very kind and over the top service for us! Definitely recommend supporting!

DELICIOUS! We just had our dinner at Kokolo Donburi and ordered the Katsudon and the Wagyu Sukiyaki. Both dishes + miso soup are such a delight to have on an autumn day where the air is getting a little chilly. We also got to try a new dish: the shrimp shumai! I could eat a whole plate of these just by myself 😋Lastly, the fresh greens that came with the shumai were amazing which came topped with a wonderfully zesty yuzu dressing (Yuzu lovers rejoice!) I loved the dressing so much, I had to ask for more (it’s liquid gold!) Thank you Kokolo Donburi!

The hostess gave us such a warm and friendly welcome, and had us seated quickly and comfortably. Despite our larger group, the service was incredibly attentive, and everything ran smoothly. The staff was professional, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting—perfect for a team outing. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!

We came here on weekdays lunch time. We have to park on the streets. It's a quiet neighborhood, less people walking on streets, and it's interesting is a lot of 40+ yrs of houses while we're walking going to the restaurant. Enough that, the food was delicious. My kids they order food (forgot to take pictures). Lots of drinks selection and delicious ice cream.

We've been wanting to try this place for some time but finally made it after our movie. I ordered the stir fried udon noodles with beef and my wife ordered the chicken and egg rice bowl. They gave us free miso soup while we waited about 5 minutes for our food. My dish was amazing, a bit sweet, but still really good. The beef was tender and the udon noodles were perfectly chewy. My wife's rice bowl was a bit soupy but the chicken with eggs were tasty. The staff was super friendly but the place had a strong odor, like some sort of cleaner. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back. Hoping they have the Uni when I come back!

Fast, delicious, and great portions. A regular go to for lunches with friends. Plenty of variety on the menu! Added lots of new items. Can't wait to try the deserts and the udon options

Food and service were great! We went at an odd hour and no other customers were there so we got our food within 5-10mins of ordering. The restaurant was a bit cold inside, but after eating the food we quickly warmed up. I was surprised at the size of the dishes as they were more than what I could comfortably eat in one sitting. Definitely recommend the Mapo Tofu Don dish! They give the option to add chicken or just keep it only tofu. Overall, I would 100% come back for more.

Recommend dishes: - Mixed tempura: lots of ingredients include pumpkin, potato, shrimp, onion, long beans. - wagyu beef sukiyaki: a lot of beef slices, with some cabbage, tofu. - una don: It is hard to make eel taste bad in a Japanese restaurant. Three dishes are too much for two people. Since tempura is a must-try, one sukiyaki or don is enough.

I thought this restaurant was fine. There was barely any people there on a Saturday though, that surprised me. I had the fried chicken, and it tasted just like chicken from KFC. The prices were lowkey cheap and affordable, I liked that. You had to order first then sit down, so the service was fine. The artwork on the walls looked really good. But the benches were worn down, they could use new seats and more decor to make the restaurant cozy. Overall, I would get totally get food delivered or take out from here.

We walked in. The food didn’t look good or smelled appetizing. Not sure why the review is so high. So much dust on the entrance door window.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this Japanese restaurant based on my experience. We ordered the Wagyu beef bowl, but the meat was off-putting and didn’t taste good at all. I ended up just eating the rice because I couldn’t handle the flavor of the meat. The restaurant also had an unpleasant smell, which was not ideal. Additionally, the staff had difficulty communicating in English, which made the experience less enjoyable. This restaurant has high ratings, so I might give it another chance and try ordering a different dish, but my first visit was definitely disappointing.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this Japanese restaurant based on my experience. We ordered the Wagyu beef bowl, but the meat was off-putting and didn’t taste good at all. I ended up just eating the rice because I couldn’t handle the flavor of the meat. The restaurant also had an unpleasant smell, which was not ideal. Additionally, the staff had difficulty communicating in English, which made the experience less enjoyable. This restaurant has high ratings, so I might give it another chance and try ordering a different dish, but my first visit was definitely disappointing.

Not a good place to stop. Food was not fresh and the rice with beef was under seasoned. It lacked salt. The only decent thing was the chicken wings with stir fry sauce? Weird. Try the kebob place next door.
