Opinions de Lemon Grass Thai Restaurant Livermore
I've been coming here for years, so it is about time I do a review. 1. two ways to look at menus: on the window (assuming no one is standing there) or scan the QR code on the table 2. go to the order table setup by the door with your mask on and order your food 3. Pick your table and wait patiently. :) 4. Food will arrive in throwaway containers 5. Enjoy your meal and drinks 6. Bus your own table and toss it in the bins setup for recycle and trash :) Last night's food: Tom Kha (on the sweet side, so I just added chili); Roti with Green Curry (delish! buttery too!) Food is always solid here: my favs: Green curry, some of the best in the area, pad kee mao, penang fish and thai iced tea.
I was here twice during my time in the area. Both times were great. Fresh rolls were my favorite. The added avocado made them even more delicious. Second time I was here, I felt too full for my entree so I asked for it to go. Server thought it was because they weren’t fast enough, but I explained that it was just me. Server still apologized and offered me an iced coffee, which was great since I was getting on the road for quite the drive. The restaurant is in a lovely environment - right down town. Plenty of outdoor seating. Free parking in the large lot behind. Lots of other businesses around. Cute area to explore while in town.
I have yet to eat at this restaurant, so I’m not too sure about the atmosphere. I have ordered takeout twice from this place and let me tell you that the pineapple tofu fried rice is unbelievably amazing! You also have to try the yellow curry.
One of THE best thai places I've been to. Great flavors, and excellent in taste. We did hop in for the lunch, starting off with fresh rolls which were pretty good with the peanut sauce. The drunken noodles were the best, had wonderful taste, not too greasy, and did come in with good quantity. Highly recommend this place and we will be back to explore other menu options.
Cute little Thai place in downtown Livermore. Came for dinner on a Saturday night and it wasn’t too crazy. Service was excellent and food was tasty.
I totally love this spot. The service is amazing, and their Thai food is so authentic with super high-quality ingredients—you can seriously taste how fresh everything is! From the seafood they cook to the herbs and all the veggies, you can just taste the love and freshness; it's phenomenal. Plus, the staff is so friendly, and their genuine kindness keeps me and my boyfriend coming back for more! This place is one of our go-to's when we're in Livermore craving Thai food!
The Food was so yummy and authentic Thai touch. The highlight was the Basil fried rice in "Thai spice", it was what absolutely yummy and exact spice what I expected, on spot. Highly recommended spot!
The food presentation was lovely. And the food was delicious. The salmon wrapped in banana leaves was perfect- creamy and flaky. Perfect keto item. Spring rolls were crispy. The brown rice was unusual. Great nutty flavor. My glass of wine was more like half a bottle of wine
I work around the corner so decided to order lunch for pick up. I ordered the Panang Curry (Spicy) with white rice. The food was ready very fast and the packaging was excellent. Temperature was perfect and the flavors amazing. The curry had a beautiful velvety texture with lots of meat (chicken) and veggies. The flavor of basil was strong and beautiful. The spice level was perfect. The rice was cooked nicely and the two were great together. I would definitely go back and take family and friends. Update 08.05.2022 Second time ordering today so I picked L Kee Mow which is wide noodle dish with chicken, basil, carrots and tomatoes. I selected spicy level. Absolutely beautiful and delicious. Picked it up still very hot and fresh. The spice level is was perfect and all ingredients fresh. I may just have a new favorite.
the besttttt!!! i will return to order their pineapple fried rice and a small bowl of coconut soup with shrimp, recommended! oh i forgot, their grilled chicken BBQ also fantastic!
We door-dashed from Lemongrass Thai yesterday. We got the noodles, some fresh spring rolls, and red thai curry. Every item was flavorful, spice-level as requested, and modified as requested! The portion sizes are generous and the contents are high quality and fresh. The noodles dish was cooked to perfection. The red curry was creamy and extremely flavorful. One thing we noticed was lesser choice of veggies. Typically I see more mushrooms, more broccoli.. We are glad we tried to doordash from Lemongrass. Now we know we have a solid Thai option in beautiful Livermore.
Excellent Thai restaurant in Livermore downtown. I was able to schedule a table ahead of time and it was ready. Food and ambience is very good. The street parking is the only option
I have Celiac disease and there’s very few places I can eat. Their gluten free items are marked and the server was aware of what was and wasn’t safe for me. I felt very comfortable eating here, and it was probably the best Thai food I’ve ever had
Great food! Large portions, even on the lunch plates! Quick and friendly service. A little pricey, but good for the portion size and quality. Can get busy. Closed after lunch, before dinner.
The noodles were good, but because I forgot to ask about the spice level they weren't spicy at all. There are chili sauces on the side that more than make up for it.
First time at the Lemongrass Thai and we loved the food. Very rich flavors that the kids and grandparents liked. We went there because they were open late but now I can see us hauling ourselves to Livermoore to get some Thai food.

Ordered lunch on our way thru town. Kids and adults decided it was some of the best Thai food they have had in the area. Plus the service was excellent
Thursday night dinner, party-of-5 adults, I had to drop everyone at the curb because the angle parking spots along both sides of First Street were filled. I eventually parked 2 blocks north in one of the last unmarked spaces in the gravel lot behind Stockman's Park, and walk between other business lots & buildings to get back to the restaurant. All that is offered just to inform future customers. Lemongrass has a small sidewalk dining area that was full when we arrived, so we ate inside in a dining space that reminded me of a tavern (low ceiling, dark paneling, low light). The service was attentive but slow, with a steady stream of carryout orders being filled along with attention to other eat-in diners. The dishes we enjoyed were Crispy Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, Tom Yum soup, Sweet & Sour Trout (Pla Sam Rod) and Special Prawn. The Pad Thai was average. Overall a good meal, and sitting outdoors would have improved it.
Stopped by for dinner while on the way back from the trip. Very tasty food. We ordered Tom-yum soup, yellow curry, basil fried rice, pineapple fried rice and vegetable spring roll. Everything we ordered were super tasty specially vegetable spring rolls and Pineapple fried rice were so so yummy that I will come back for this dish again. Service was bit slow as there were less folks to serve but its ok since it was thanksgiving week.
Everything we ordered was tasty and the outdoor seating ambience was amazing. The only thing that was not too great was the waiters taking too long to address any request, maybe they were short staffed or maybe it was because it was almost closing time but we waited too long for every request. Let's talk about the food we ordered: ❤️ Roti with green curry sauce - this was just amazing, definitely must try, perfectly crisp and soft bread with great green curry sauce 😃 Tofu Krob was interesting, it was very crispy as expected from its description, the sauce in which it comes is sweet. You should try if you are looking for something different than the regular spring rolls or pot stickers 😃 Pineapple fried rice was delicious except for the insane amount of raisins they put in it. I really liked it but the excessive raisins were annoying 😃 Red curry was rightly sweet and spicy. I loved that their curry was thick and not runny
I did not expect the medium spice level to still be so hot. Otherwise the spring rolls and especially the prawn salad were great. Would only recommend it at the mild level. The atmosphere is laidback, the decor is pretty, and the location is nice (but for the parking).
Got the Tom Yum, yellow curry and the crab fried rice. Crab fried rice was great. Tom yum soup was good and correct mix of sour and sweet. The yellow curry was exceptionally sweet and tasted very sugary, not good since the sweetness was masking any good flavors. Ambience is ok, some table lamps are a bit too low and I hit my head on one while getting up from the table. Overall ok place.
Good flavors with lots of different plates to choose from. Thai ownership. Food taste fresh. Nice atmosphere for families and couples. Outdoor seating available with some tables in the shade. Service is relatively quick. Street parking in the front or shared parking lot in rear. Street parking are difficult to find during lunch and dinner time.
Great location in beautiful downtown Livermore. Place was quite full, took a little while to get our order taken & then to receive food. Average portion size, yellow curry was spicy & delicious. Rice is a la carte. Tofu dishes available for vegetarians & vegans. Server was able to tell us what dishes did not have animal products, which we appreciated. Pad Thai was excellent. Green curry was so-so. Overall a nice meal.
Food tasted relatively fresh and at reasonable prices. The Thai tea was flavorful and not too sweet. The house salad was not what I expected. It was a lightly dressed Thai peanut dressing over slaw. Still good flavor. I had the special, Spicy Crab Noodles - pad Thai noodles fried with green onions, jalapenos and egg and topped with crab. Overall good. A little oily only with the noodles. I would recommend.
Great food! The Panang curry, Spring rolls and Satay were well presented and delicious! The ambience can be better. It looks dated and seems like it needs some work. It’s situated in its own little corner with nice window views in the night. I would definitely go back to try more food from this restaurant!
Stopped by for a late lunch on a workday. The food had plenty of flavor and comparable with similar Thai restaurants. Service was a bit slow since there was only one server for the entire restaurant. Outdoor seating got a bit sweltering and parking can be a bit hard to find in this area.
Tried their coconut based pork soup, chicken basil fried rice and special salmon entrée. The salmon entrée was the star. The other dishes were very delicious as well. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Great service as well. Don’t forget to try the Thai iced coffee on a hot summer !

One of our favorite Thai restaurant if we are in Livermore. Loved their Tom-yum soup, Chicken basil fried rice, Special Salmon/Prawn and Pad Thai . As its in Livermore downtown, usually much waiting time to get a table if going dinner over weekends. Sorry to say but staffs are not that friendly. Little pricey but depend on the location, can't expect less.
Lemon Grass in downtown Livermore offers a decent dining experience with food that is overall satisfactory. The dishes are flavorful, but where the restaurant falls short is in the portion size of their sides, particularly the rice. While I’m fine with paying $4 for a side of rice, the portion served is quite underwhelming—literally equivalent to just 2-3 tablespoons. It feels insufficient, especially when rice is a staple component for many of their dishes. If you’re looking for a good meal, Lemon Grass can deliver in terms of taste, but be prepared for the potential disappointment of small portions, particularly when it comes to the rice. For the price, the quantity should definitely be more generous. Overall, the food is enjoyable, but the value for money when it comes to sides could be improved.
This place is probably the worst Thai food in Livermore there are 3 better places top of mind curry was watery, the pad Thai noodles chewy and overcooked. The pricing is weird too. You pay for side of rice 4 dollars? Wild! just charge more and incorporate it in price 4 dollar sprite, again chill but it’s a can with no refills? If the food was good trust me I’m happy to pay for that stuff but it’s gross when the curry shows up cold and is microwaved.
Dirty and Dissatisfied. This place used to be so good. Ate here for the first time in about 10 years as I now live out of state, and I was very disappointed. I don't think the place has been thoroughly cleaned in those 10 years. We were sat near the front window and the framed photo next to my head had a ton of dust on it, and our suspended light over the table had hair on it. My meal was extremely oily ; my wife overall liked hers. I spent 2 weeks in the bay area and this was the most disappointed meal I had the entire trip, which was over 50 meals. I eat Thai food about once a week, so it's not the fact I dislike Thai food, it was the fact I didnt like this place. Place needs to be cleaned extensively. They may have won awards 20 years ago, but it's gone downhill.
I’m giving one star for service due to my disappointing experience with the ladies at the front desk. They were not welcoming and came across as quite arrogant, which really affected my visit. The food was good, but unfortunately, the poor customer service makes me hesitant to return!!
Food taste is ok. Portions are quite less i feel. In fried rice infact very less rice other than tofu. Also just for 5 people the gratitude is included in the bill 🤔.
I’d like to start by saying that the food here was good indeed. However there were major problems with the service and the ambience. This was our first time here. Although we were courteous throughout our time, the waitress did not seem to be happy to serve us. She didn’t seem to like us asking her to replace the plates that were dirty. Every time she gave something to our table it was almost like she was throwing things onto our table rather than keeping them. Not sure why she did not seem to like us. She seemed nicer to other tables. This was obvious because of some behavioral changes like saying “thank you”, smiling and the way she kept things on the other tables. She was chopping vegetables on one of the tables during service. So there was a constant noise of chopping throughout. Thought his was unprofessional at a restaurant like this. Now, the last problem we had here was with flies. It has some serious fly infestation. We had to keep shooing the flies away while we ate. They have a fly trap set (attached a picture) however it’s not very helpful.

Our family had a very bad experience at this place. It was a hot day and we asked to sit inside. Inside was extremely hot and damp weather with no AC. The food quality was awful. I ordered Tom Yam and they charged us extra $5 to add shrimp (only 4 shrimps in the soup) and it was lowest quality Tom Yam I’ve ever had. We also ordered two more noodle dishes that we didn’t like. Food was greasy and too much sweet. All four of us felt sick after.
I ordered the lunch green curry with white rice from Lemongrass in Livermore, and this was hands down one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. The curry was unbelievably salty—so salty it was almost inedible. But the absolute worst part was the rice. The “white rice” they gave me was clearly old, dry, and chewy, like it had been sitting out for days. I literally couldn’t even eat it. When I called the restaurant to let them know, instead of apologizing or trying to make it right, they blamed the chef for using yesterday’s rice—as if that made it any better. The lack of professionalism was shocking. If your staff admits they’re serving old food, that’s a huge problem. I will NEVER eat here again. Completely unacceptable and incredibly disappointing.
I normally don’t leave reviews, but what happened at Lemongrass Restaurant needs to be shared. After we paid our bill (without leaving a tip), a staff member ran outside after us in public to confront us about it. It was embarrassing, unnecessary, and extremely unprofessional. They even told us that if we weren’t going to tip, we should have ordered our food to-go instead—and they said this loudly, in front of other customers. No guest should be shamed or chased down over a tip. Tips are optional and based on service, not something that should be demanded. The food itself was fine, but this behavior completely ruined the experience. I hope management steps in, because this was one of the most uncomfortable and disrespectful dining experiences I’ve ever had.
