Stopped in this morning while waiting on our rental EV to charge. It's a great cute little diner. Staff was super friendly and nice and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Jasmin was our waitress and she was very friendly and knew the menu very well. The food was very good and was out in like 10 minutes. The bathrooms were also very clean. Overall I would highly recommend this diner! 5 stars all around!

Love this place !! Been there twice already. Wonderful service, and excellent food. Menus not large but that makes it even better as they're able to concentrate on foods. I had breakfast the 1st time ..did the choose your own 3 foods , was so delicious and 2nd time was lunch and their "Diner Burger" was really good. Good quality beef used , they didn't over cook it..it was like a medium done . It was moist, had great flavor. Their fries are really good too. Will be going back again to take my husband. Not sure when this place opened as I never saw a grand opening announced but I'm glad someone told me about it.

When I go on road trips I try to find places that are small businesses to eat at. Who wants a chain restaurant when y oh can experience something unique? We chose a diner for an earlier dinner and Scott’s Diner didn’t disappoint. It has an older feel that a diner should, yet clean, warm and welcoming. The server was attentive and answered our questions. The food was deserving of a 5+ rating. The sweet potato fries melted in my mouth, the salad was crisp and refreshing. The country fried steak was top notch and the pot roast was tender and seasoned perfectly. This diner is right off the freeway. Google will get you there. Parking is behind the restaurant.

Fabulous food, efficient service and clean environment. My friend ordered Pork Chop and Eggs. She was extremely impressed with the meat’s moistness and quantity. My California Benny was superb. Fresh spinach, flavorful tomatoes, creamy avocado and eggs on a perfectly toasted English muffin with a delicate Hollandaise sauce. I had the bacon which is included on the CA Benny gifted to my friend. She said it was unprecedented in flavor and texture. We arrived at 10 am on a Saturday. It was very busy but we only had to wait 5 minutes in the seating area. The noise level was fairly high because of all the loud conversations plus we were seated up front next to the music speaker. I would recommend asking to be seated away from the front if you want to be able to hear each other talk. This was my first experience at Scott’s Diner. For certain, it won’t be my last.

So I’m picky when it comes to my food. I was staying at hotel near by woke up early to see what was to eat. Saw the basic fast food but saw through the window as I was walking by a new clean looking restaurant. Thought might give a try and it hit the spot, food was very fresh. I will recommend this place to any friends and family, fast friendly and great tasting food.

I was hesitant to go here as I had heard bad and good from family and friends. But was pleasantly surprised. They were swamped with the GV HS girls soccer team so I was expecting a wait. But not so, seated, ordered and got food within 15 minutes. Food was very tasty and we ended up taking half home due to generous portions. Staff was friendly and upbeat. We will be returning.

Great Diner Food. Ordered the Cali Burger (Add Bacon), and it tasted great. Rest of party ordered Country-Fried Steak and Turkey Club. Everyone enjoyed their meal and all noted the meal portions were big.

Visiting family in town and looked up a place to eat. Saw that Scott’s Diner had great reviews and pictures looked amazing so we decided to drop in. The restaurant looked unassuming outside and inside, BUT….. the food and service were amazing. I love breakfast food and was glad that they serve it all day. Portions were generous! Staff was so hospitable and checked in on our group throughout our time there: made sure we had condiments, refilled our drinks, cleared plates immediately, and offered dessert towards the end of our meal. If it weren’t for COVID I would give Scott and all the staff a hug as juicy as the steak they serve.

YUMMMMM!! 1st time here (2/26/23) my husband told me about this place. They’ve been open for about a year now. Great menu choices. They even have a Create Your Own breakfast by choosing 3 items, never seen this on a breakfast menu like this, “Awesome”! I had the Fajita Omelette w/chicken and country potatoes, didn’t care for the way they prepare them (deep fried) would rather have them cook on the flat-top right in with the peppers etc., but they had good flavor and were seasoned well. My husband had The Duke Omelette (sautéed onions, peppers, spinach, mushrooms) and choice of meat, topped with hollandaise sauce & sliced avocado. Large portions, we had to take ½ home and very tasty!! Don’t be alarmed by the look outside or inside, the food is what counts… They were busy and still Scott the owner was very personable and attentive to all the customers. Wait staff while most were very young did an excellent job and were especially attentive as well. Better than I’ve seen for some time. We will definitely go back to try some of the other menu items. Go check them out!!!

3rd visit. I'm so happy to have this diner in Merced. The service is super awesome and the food is really good. We brought the kids here for the first time today. They are a.... opinionated group, so we wanted to get their feedback. The boy, 7, ordered the sprinkle pancakes. He loved them. He is a pancake "expert" in his opinion and said they were fluffy and had a great taste even without the syrup. The middle girl, 8, is the most opinionated of them all. She had the chicken strip with fries and fruit. She is hard to satisfy but to our surprise she was not just satisfied, but happy. She said her chicken was juicy and didn't have that half burned, half old grease flavor. She loved the fruit and said it was fresh and not squishy. The oldest girl, 10, had the biscuits and gravy with bacon on the side. I couldn't get her to talk much because she ate the entire plate! She said at the end that the biscuits were fluffy and soft and the gravy tasted like my homemade gravy. 😋 Now that's a compliment. She said she wished we could eat here every day. I had the BLAST on sourdough with onion rings. Perfectly cooked! Hubby had the steak and eggs. He was very satisfied. He cleaned his plate which he would never do unless he really liked it. Great job once again to Scott's Diner! We'll be back.

Tad was our server (he was so polite, engaging and knowledgeable) Tad answered all questions I threw at him! He kept up with my coffee and our waters. I love great customer service, (but not just good or just good enough) only great customer service. Tad also said they serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner all day, everyday. Scott (the owner) came over and introduced himself to us. He felt easy going easy to talk to and a nice guy. Scott stated he had a smaller menu so he can make sure to keep the food as fresh as possible. I think right now the choices are perfect. Not too many but enough to mix it up. I believe and age can come here and be satisfied. Also the portions are not too big and not too small, they are just right! 2015 E Child's Ave, Merced CA off of the child's exit, next to Dutch Bros., across from KFC is the address. Scott's Diner just opened on Tuesday November 2nd. You can see that the inside has a lot of potential for becoming a great place to bring the family or a place for the guys or girls to meet up. (Not sure if they sell beer or not) More decor will be needed, but you can see they are working on it. They do have a television on and music going. Not to loud, loud enough to hear not also not loud enough that you can not talk to everyone at the table. My niece and I ordered two different sandwich meals and I was thinking, " wow, they looked placed well organized and delicious" totally forgot to take a picture until after we were all done eating. (Sorry) I loved the fact that I could taste individually everything in my linguica sandwich and how it went well together. I did add mustard to mine as it was just calling my name from the kitchen! The bread on top was a little pain for that type of sandwich, just a little butter with salt and pepper or some garlic salt and butter while being toasted, would have helped. I had coffee and could drink it black and also add creamer and sugar and it was delicious both ways. I chose onion rings as my side to my sandwich and it was the best decision to make. I love ranch with my onion rings but also tried them by themselves and I could eat them without sauce. Very flavorful with just a hint of sweetness. The ranch tasted homemade and not store bought which was a plus! I plan on bringing my family back to Scott's Diner because I actually think this will be our new Denny's. Taste homemade but not like you kids made it, but a loving parent. I honestly can not wait to see what Scott's Diner becomes!

Amazing restaurant in Merced! The chicken fried steak was crispy and covered in gravy. My son's steak was so tender and juicy, the pot roast is always so flavorful, and if you want a good burger, this place is where you need to go. Decent prices and great service.

Clean booths. Super friendly servers and staff. Food came out quick and was delicious. I ordered a special they had of a Peppered Ribeye Melt and it blew me away!

Small diner with delicious food, attentive/friendly staff, and great prices. We will definitely return! My steak dinner was cooked perfectly and came with a salad, dinner roll, onion rings (which I'm very picky about, but loved theirs!), and mashed potatoes with gravy for just under $18.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. I drove by the place several times, and thought the place had closed down. I searched for best breakfast near me, and Scott's came in as #1. I checked the latest review and it was 35 min old. I went straight to Scott's, and it did not disappoint. All ingredients are high quality, portions are big, and service is incredible.

Stopped here on our way from Yosemite to San Francisco and had a lovely breakfast! Very friendly service, clean and lovely food. The little bowls of fruit were a lovely touch. Would definitely go back if it weren’t for the fact we live in England.

I took my daughter there since she loves to eat out at restaurants and she has high class taste buds she says. She liked the food here French fries where on point she advised me and the ranch was very thick and creamy the real kind. She said if they had there own secret fry sauce she would like that too. I especially enjoyed the coffee and had the Cali eggs beni and it was great. As the pictures suggest we were fat and happy when we left. Update may 2022 So hands down had the best steak and eggs the other day. I am love with whole place everyone that works there is awesome and amazingly just on it. Food comes up quickly and cooked to perfection. Funnel cake fries garlic fries any fries they but the funnel cake whoa that can kill the diet

We truly enjoyed our breakfast stop at Scott’s Diner. The eggs Benedict my husband had was one of the best he’d ever tasted. I liked the fact that I could have the chorizo breakfast burrito without eggs and it was delicious! The fruit that came with each meal was fresh and perfectly ripe. I wish we lived closer.

Stopped in on the way to northern California. Saturday at 1030 AM and was busy but not packed. Very quick and friendly service. Food was served quickly and hot. French toast was done well as were the eggs. Bacon was the only item I thought could have been a little better. But it wasn't bad at all. Plenty of rear parking and located right off the freeway. Staff was real friendly and attentive.

I stopped in here on my way to work and I’m very happy I did. The food tasted great! I had the Steak and Eggs with country potatoes and sourdough toast. The portions are generous in size and I left having a very content culinary experience! The service here is friendly and very attentive. I learned about this place from 209 Eats of Facebook. I’m going to recommend this place to my friends. I will return again. My only criticism would be that the radio was a bit loud.

Loved the California Benny. The breakfast potatoes were a treat after a long drive. The atmosphere is everything you want a local dinner to be with incredible service.

Friendly Sevice. They have counter seating. We sat in a booth that has plenty of room Nice eggs Benedict. Good hollandaise, Clean but definitely dated. If you’re looking for a local diner, this is your place. If you don’t want potatoes with your Benedict, they’re willing to substitute a pancake which is really sweet giant and delicious Great prices, good quality, overall a nice experience.

I discovered this little gem about 3 weeks ago I've been there five times since each time I order something different just to make sure the food is good and they're not just good at one thing. In my opinion,best breakfast diner anywhere in Merced and Atwater this might sound crazy but even their water is good. So far my favorite has been the steak breakfast check this out you get a 6-oz steak fried potatoes eggs gravy and biscuits for $10 and some change super down to earth people even the owner Scott himself will come out and talk to you make sure everybody's happy if you haven't been there go if you went there when they first opened go back absolutely love this family-friendly Diner

Eat and the food is always great.The staff is amazing.They're friendly.They're on top of everything.And I really love this place.Because it supports our troops. There's a whole story behind Scott, The namesake of this diner and it's definitely worth a visit, just to come in and talk to the people. This is the California Benny and the New York Steak and Eggs! I always wanted to try this place out, and I’m glad I did! I don’t think I’ve really seen eggs benedict like this in Merced, so I’m glad I was able to eat it! It was pretty good! The New York steak was okay, but it was not bad! The interior of this place was cozy and American! If I’m craving some eggs benedict and I want to stay locally, then I’d come here again for it! 😊

I ordered the double western burger bacon cheeseburger with garlic fries. Let me tell you, it was not a disappointment. The burger had a lot of flavor, it was very juicy. I've always seen Scott's diner but never have I stopped in, this was a massive mistake, from their welcoming decor to their wonderful food this place has it all. One of the most important things to me is community and character. These Scott's diner has in great amounts. The way the owner lights up when he speaks about his grandfather's ww2 helmet or the way the staff talks to you I felt appreciated and welcomed. Great food, large portions, great prices and amazing service all make Scott's diner an amazing place for everyone!

Visiting family in Merced and looking for a place that serves a wholesome country breakfast. Scott’s is the place! The country potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crisp and the veggie omelette was stuffed with delicious veggies. The toast is thick sliced. The service was excellent from start to finish. We didn’t feel rushed to leave even though we were done eating and service stayed the same even as it got busier.

First time here second time for my wife! Our meal was absolutely delicious 😋! We had funnel cake fries as a side those were the first to come out which my wife and I loved! Few minutes passed and got our main dishes 😄, burger was cooked perfectly, from the bun to the lettuce, tomato, cheese 🧀, pickles and red onions. That was my wife's order for mine I had the all meat omlette oh boy it was so good cooked nicely 😋 👌 Compliments to the chef 👨‍🍳! Great atmosphere and vintage pictures to historical newspapers on the wall. Really chill vibes! Can't wait to go again🥳 almost forgot MUST TRY ( SWEET POTATO FRIES) 😍

Great experience—I really appreciated how much space the server gave our table. No hurrying, no checking on us too often, no trying to get us to leave before we were ready. I wasn’t as excited about the food as some reviewers have been. Dessert was better than the meal itself.

The chicken tenders weren't dry like other restaurants. French fries were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle which makes them yummy. I was able to sample everyones plate and i didn't have anything negative to say. Keep up the good work and the yummy did going!

This is a good old fashioned, military friendly diner. The portions are huge and absolutely delicious. I have yet to be able to finish my entire plate. It can get very busy at times but well worth waiting for a bit if needed. It's not that there's a lot of noise, they play great music from all genres and generations. It's a fun vibe for all.

We ordered an omelet as well as the steak and eggs. The steak was ordered medium rare but was a bit closer to rare. Despite this it was still tasty. The omelette was good but what really stood out was the country potatoes. They are delicious and I will definitely be getting them again next time.

The service was fantastic!! I ordered the eggs Benedict & it was by far the best hollandaise sauce I've ever had!! The portions were big & the prices were very reasonable! The music was a little too loud, we could hardly hear each other talk but it did have an upbeat feel to it!

A real small-town diner. The prices are reasonable and serving sizes good. The hashbrowns weren't very crispy but they were really busy. The staff are clearly working very hard to give good service. Coffee was good -not bitter like some diners. Really appreciated the "pick 3" breakfast option. They have an eclectic collection of mugs which is a fun touch instead of standard white mugs. The gravy could use a bit more pepper but that's easily fixed at the table.

Great food, affordable price, very polite staff, lots of parking. Also very close to several gas stations, hotels, and next door to a Dutch Bros for that after-meal coffee! Only critique i have are the televisions they have only show 90s cartoons, pet videos, and family videos (basically America’s funniest home videos) But that can be overlooked easily with their choice of radio station

Food portions were huge. Sandwich was great. Bathrooms definitely need an upgrade. Definitely run down but great for military folks.

Yes, portions are huge! Fries were cooked just the way I like them, crispy 😋 Garlic fries were really delicious, too! 😋 Burger patties were underseasoned, tough, and looked to be pre-formed. Plus, the brioche bun was cold, and it broke. The chicken avocado club was missing the avocado, and the chicken itself was overcooked to the point of being extremely dry. Or it was cooked ahead of time and hot held for service or flash heated for service. The server was great, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Great service, just wished there was a little more seasoning in the food. Got the all meat omelette, meat was a little overcooked.

The atmosphere is fun dive diner. The service was great. I was very disappointed with the meal. I got the western burger, and it was super sauced with ketchup,mayo, BBQ, and thousand island. If you like a super sauced burger, then this will be your jam. The meat was your basic preformed burger patty (not a biggie considering the type of restaurant). The garlic fries were the true disappointment. They were saturated with oil, the garlic tasted off, and there was something sweet about the fries. My sister got the turkey club, and she liked it, and her fries were crispy and not full of oil. Hopefully, the next time I go, they redeem themselves. They seem to be well loved and popular.

There’s plenty of space to sit with friends to enjoy your food and drinks. They offer dine-in, to-go and orders via phone call. If you decide to call, you might have to call a few times because they tend not to answer immediately. It’s located right next to Dutch Bros on Child’s. They have their private free parking lot, so there’s plenty of parking space nearby. Staff is was friendly, but not very attentive in my opinion. It took quite some time to get condiments, napkins or refills on coffee/soda. I really enjoyed their breakfast burrito. It came with chorizo, bell pepper, onion, country potatoes, cheddar cheese and a side of fruit. I swapped my side for more country potatoes, which were crispy and flavorful. The chorizo has a really good flavor, and the melted cheese tops it. They also include a side of pico de gallo, which is delicious. It’s not spicy, but packs a lot of flavor. The fruit was pretty fresh and sweet, which I enjoyed. The pancakes are pretty standard, but tasty. The coffee had a good flavor and smell. I just wish I could have enjoyed more of it during my meal. Although the food was good, there was a high number of flies in the restaurant, which was a bit bothersome. Perhaps to-go is a better option.

Got the fried steak breakfast. The biscuit was so nice and fluffy. The eggs and potatoes were ok not anything mind blowing. I did find inahd to put salt on everything. The fried steak was good. I wished they gave more gravy on the steak. It's not mind blowing but ok breakfast.
