Opinions de Sushi Komachi Lodi
We stopped in for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a mix of rolls, edamame, salad, and udon vegetable soup. Everything came out fresh and nicely plated without feeling overdone. The specialty roll with salmon and spicy sauce had great balance, and the fish tasted clean and fresh. The California roll was simple but well made, which honestly says a lot. The edamame was hot and perfectly salted. The house salad with dressing was light and flavorful. The udon vegetable soup was comforting and filling with fresh vegetables and soft noodles in a flavorful broth. Service was attentive and friendly. It was fairly loud during our visit, but the staff stayed on top of everything and we never felt ignored. The space felt clean with warm wood tables and modern touches. We finished with a vanilla ice cream dessert, "waffle ice cream" topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, which was simple and fun to share.
Best place in town! Food and service always amazing! There is no other place with such fresh sushi. Definitely one of my favorites.
Amazing place with great energy and outstanding food. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as it’s usually very busy. The staff was very friendly and attentive — I was greeted warmly, seated quickly, given the menu right away, and offered drinks almost immediately. Everything was smooth and professional. The food was excellent. The rolls were delicious, the fish was very fresh, and the presentation was great. I especially recommend trying their signature baked roll — definitely a must-try. Special thanks to our waiter (unfortunately, I don’t remember his name). He was always smiling, very helpful, and made our experience even better. I will definitely be coming back.
Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Everything we ordered was outstanding and clearly made with care. We started with the beef wrapped asparagus and Brussels sprouts, both cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The black pepper tuna tataki was next and honestly could have been a meal on its own. Fresh, well balanced, and executed perfectly. The kushiyaki menu really stole the show. The yakitori chicken skewer was juicy and flavorful, the butabara pork belly was rich and perfectly grilled, and the ebi shio shrimp was simple but incredible. Each skewer was spot on. We also ordered the combination sashimi which was extremely fresh and beautifully presented. To finish, we shared a few rolls. The Cowboy, Code 3, and Flaming Dragon rolls were all excellent, with great textures and bold flavors without being overdone. From start to finish, everything was top tier. This is one of those places where you can tell they care about quality, execution, and consistency. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. I’ll absolutely be back.
We had bento boxes for dinner, it was good. The flavor and quality overall were just right, nothings special. They had many rolls to choose, I did not try any but definitely wanted to come back to try one of these rolls later. The service was good, food served a bit slow because of the weekend crowd.
Sushi Komachi is one of those rare hidden gems that once you find it, you never want to go anywhere else. Tucked away in a quiet spot in Lodi with plenty of easy parking, this cozy, family-run restaurant delivers some of the best sushi experiences you’ll find in the Central Valley. What really sets Sushi Komachi apart are the specials. If you’re lucky enough to get the fish cheeks when you ask—do not skip them. They’re tender, flavorful, and served with a soy sauce vinaigrette that absolutely elevates the dish. It’s one of those bites that stops you mid-conversation because it’s just that good. They sell out of this so go early. The rolls here are consistently fresh, well-crafted, and full of flavor. Favorites like the Spider Roll (soft shell crab done right) and the California Roll are staples, but they also have a fantastic lineup of specialty rolls that deserve attention. Some highlights include: The Komachi Roll – a house favorite that balances spicy and savory perfectly. The Lion King – baked to perfection with a rich, creamy finish. The Lodi Roll – a local twist that showcases their creativity with textures and sauces. You can tell everything is made with care—from the rice to the way each dish is plated. It's clear the chefs here take pride in what they serve. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner. It’s a smaller spot, which adds to the charm, and the service is always friendly and attentive. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or just dipping your toes into Japanese cuisine, Sushi Komachi makes everyone feel at home. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to become a regular. Great food, great people, and a menu that keeps you coming back for more.
Went for lunch once with my daughter and enjoyed it so much that during each visit to Lodi (from Colorado) I grab at least one meal there. Most recently had dinner with my sister-in-law. As always each sushi roll was absolutely delicious and the arrangement was like art work...stunning! Highly recommend this sushi 🍣 restaurant.
I was in town for a week and one of the locals highly recommended this spot as a must try while I was in Lodi. The food was amazing, tasted fresh was hot and had really good flavor. The staff was friendly and never forgot about me. It was pretty busy so it seemed everyone was well taken care of.
You really can’t say enough good things about this place. The sushi is always fresh. We have been coming here or ordering take out from here since we moved to Lodi. We have tried most of the rolls- all delicious. Usually order sashimi and a few rolls. The fish literally melts in your mouth. I enjoy the lunch menu. You can select from a couple of items and make your own bento box (under $20). Staff is friendly and attentive. Good job Komachi!
My girls wanted something yummy on this raining day and decided on sushi. I’ve passed by this place multiple times and finally had a chance to try it out. Long story short, the food was fresh and amazing. The service was wonderful. And, my girls and I were full. Get the flaming dragon roll. It’s literally on fire! The assortment of different specialties we ordered were great.
The food was really fresh and tasty. I had the stuffed mushrooms, miso soup, and the Spiderman Roll. I was in a party of 2 and we both were full. Definitely recommend sitting on the patio. Its covered, there's lights, and firepits.
My wife heard of this place from her cousin. We usually go to M-Bistro for sushi, and we love it there, but wanted to try a new place. We ordered their fried calamari, the tempura plater, The Flaming Dragon, The Midnight Roll, and The Spiderman Roll. Everything was really good. The Flaming Dragon comes out wrappex in foil and gets lit on fire at your table. When the flame dies the waitress opens it up for you. It had a charbroiled taste. It was delicious. I would've given it 5 stars except for as expensive as it was, we get better tasting sushi at M-Bistro, and it's cheaper. That said, I would recommend this place to anyone, and I would come back again. This is officially my second favorite sushi place in California.
First time trying this place. Food was really good. I was hoping to get the hamachi kama but they were all out. We sat outside. We thought it might be too cold, but the heaters were just enough to keep us warm. Our server was prompt and had a great attitude. Can't wait to try both things here.
Everything I've heard about this place made me want to come in. All aspects were on POINT but when I got my Nigiri, they were super tiny pieces. I didnt say anything cause I thought, "well maybe thats how it is here." It tasted great, but then another patron walked in and ordered the same food as I did, and 1 of his pieces of nigiri was about the size of the 4 pieces I was JUST served, combined! I was upset, to say the least. So I paid my tab and left. One thing most important in ANY establishment should be CONSISTENCY. I left feeling like I'd been ripped off.
If you have a party of more than 4, I suggest going somewhere else. The wait time is really long and when we got sat outside, the table was not even set up- no napkins/ utensils, we had to ask for it after our food came. We also had to ask for wasabi and ginger when our sushi came, which should have already came with it. The special maki rolls are good, but the sashimi were definitely not fresh. Got the 12 pc chef choice sashimi and not worth $30+ since it tasted very fishy (especially the tuna) so definitely not fresh! Dessert was also lacking. The fried cheesecake looked like fried spring rolls - not worth $8. Overall, your money’s worth somewhere else especially if you’re celebrating something special.
