Ambiance excellent. Food excellent value and quality. Decor classy. Service on point. Friendly staff that are very accommodating. No better place to eat on a lovely sunny afternoon and get that laid back Village vibe in a beautiful part of North London, without having to drive for miles out of London . Great transport links.
Lovely local restaurant that I highly recommend people go to. My wife and I had 3 courses and some drinks. Not the cheapest, but the quality was really high, and the service was great, which made it worth it. Will definitely return.
Now known as Carlos, this is a great place for lunch or dinner. They have a special lunch menu, and all the dishes I have tried to date have been delicious. Also, the portions are a good size. Plus they have great cocktails.
Fabulous restaurant in Winchmore Hill, and one that stands out for service and quality. Food is always served with a smile, very good quality indeed and not too pricey. If I could change one thing, I would say they need more chicken / different options for those who don't eat red meat. Really lovely ambience, diners are always welcomed like 'old friends', time and time again. Worth a visit!
A couple of friends suggested this restaurant. Happy they did. Lovely place in a lovely area! We had a Sunday lunch and we really enjoyed it. It was busy, so I suggest to book, but we didn't wait long to be served. We wanted to go for the 3 course but after the starters and the main (we had the Sunday beef roast) we were stuffed so we sadly had to skip the dessert. Perhaps the roast could have been better presented but all the food was lovely. I strongly suggest the goats cheese bon bon, they were definitely our favorites. Super friendly staff, always there to help. Definitely a pleasant lunch.
Came here for a dinner on a Friday evening, we hadn't booked in advance but thankfully we were seated. I really enjoyed my experience here, the food was very well presented and prepared. We had an attentive waitress who asked whether we were ok or needed anything extra etc. I cannot complain about my experience on this occasion. I paid just under £100 for the two of us, so it wasn't a cheap experience, but as a one off its a price I guess I would be willing to pay again
Excellent food and wine very nice ambience well worth a visit, haven't been in three years as the place went a bit downhill but thankfully Carlos of judges has come into the fold and turned the place around. I went today with my mum&brother and sat by the open doors which was lovely,.me and my brother went for the octopus which was very delicious and melted in the mouth with a slight hint of salt in the aftertaste, my mum went for crab and prawns which she said was delicious .For mains my mum had roast lamb and my brother went for roast beef both of which had large portions, I myself had the veal chop which was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth the wine was nice as well. Overall a very pleasant experience and afternoon out will definitely be returning by the end of the month.
Spotlessly clean, attentive service staff, fabulous food and wine. Well situated near Winchmore Hill train station, but parking spaces available nearby. The dish that I requested wasn't available, but a superb alternative was recommended . Desert menu was varied with delicious offerings. Probably best to book a table. Definitely recommend.
My wife and I went here for Sunday brunch. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a 3 month with a pushchair so they gave us a table with more space around it for the pushchair. The service was good with wait staff asking for drinks and taking our order. The chicken roast was very tasty as was the mushroom vol au vent. They do 2 courses for £25 or 3 courses for £30 which is worth it. There is also outdoor seating available which is nice if the weather is good, although they have a marquee but we sat inside Would totally recommend and go there again.
Fish, burgers and everything in-between! Some tasty dishes from Buckle and Vaughn's delicious new menu 🍴 We tried the: 🐟 Cod and chorizo with spinach, new potatoes and beurre blanc sauce 🍔 Homemade prime beef burger with hand cut chips 🍫 Chocolate brownie with Madagascan vanilla ice cream 🍏 Apple strudel with honeycomb ice cream If you’re looking for a new dinner date spot then this is it 🙌🏼
A pleasant meal & bottle of wine. Crab salad starters were enjoyed by all three of us. My lamb chops & my friends steaks cooked as ordered & very tasty.
Sunday family breakfast in the sun. First after lockdown and we hadn’t been here before but booked through open table (everywhere else was fully booked). It felt really luxurious and everything was perfect from the excellent service to the delicious food. Tables were a good safe distance from each other and it felt totally Covid safe too.
When we visited Buckle and Vaughan restaurant in Winchmore hill we noticed that they provided a fantastic selection of meal choices, such as the crispy squid with chili and lime aioli or the goat's cheese and beetroot salad. For the main course, options abound, from succulent steaks cooked to perfection to delicate seafood dishes bursting with freshness. What truly sets Buckle and Vaughan apart is their impeccable service. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable, ready to cater to your every need and provide recommendations to enhance your dining experience. We would definitely recommend because of their exceptional cuisine, and top-notch service, it's a dining experience that's sure to leave a lasting impression.
Took sons there tonight for a birthday meal. Lovely time and highly enjoyable - delicious freshly grilled meats and fish followed by great desserts. Lovely staff and Alex is outstanding and welcoming... Such a change from a couple of years ago when we felt we felt our presence was an interference to the then management....
All four of us had a three course meal each and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Food was fresh, service brisk and staff friendly and accommodating at every turn. Thanks for the great meal!
I’m my opinion, this is by far the best restaurant in Winchmore Hill and surrounding areas. Every time we go there, we are greeted as friends by Alex the manager, his lovely wife Ina and all the staff. Since opening after being refurbished this summer the restaurant looks great, food is consistently delicious as before, using quality ingredients and with a superb wine list. I particularly recommend a glass of the Thienot champagne, which is reasonably priced and delicious. We had an outside table for dinner on a very warm evening to celebrate my birthday, it was wonderful!
Cannot praise staff & service enough! I had a small issue with my meal and it was handled so professionally! Liam is an absolute asset and because of his personality and professionalism I will now be recommending my friends to join me for dinner at B&V! Thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon there today. Will be back there with friends soon- finally a great place to eat in Winchmore Hill!
Been meaning to get out for dinner to B&V for ages and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent. The menu looked a little on the expensive side but the portion sizes justified the cost and more importantly was the quality of the food. Everything was cooked to perfection - starters and mains. Can't wait to get back and sample the other dishes.
Had a lovely birthday lunch this Sunday. Food was incredibly delicious and service was very quick. The restaurant is lovely inside and the staff were very helpful and accommodating to a large table of 9. Will definitely be back.
Highly recommend, the food was so good! Fresh, great quality and really lovely options. The customer service stood out to me most, we had Jamie look after us and she really helped towards making it such a great experience at the restaurant. Along with her other colleague too, super impressed with how they take care of their customers, it was a lovely touch getting a surprise birthday desert also! Will definitely be back, thanks guys! :)
My husband and I held our wedding reception dinner at Buckle and Vaughan for our 75 guests. The team were great, food was delicious and service was perfect. They really looked after us and helped make our day stress free and really enjoyable. Our guests loved the welcome drinks, the meal and the set up of the restaurant.
I celebrated my 50th birthday in the private room at the rear of the restaurant. I had a wonderful evening and was made to feel very special. There were 18 of us. The food was lovely with good sized portions. The service was warm and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The drinks/cocktails were delicious with lots to choose from. All in all, I highly recommend Buckle and Vaughan.
We went here to celebrate my friends 40th Wedding Anniversary, I have been many times but it was the first time my friends had been (they live in Cambridge) and it did not disappoint us in any way. I told them in advance of the visit, we got the best table in the restaurant, the staff were amazing and congratulated them on arrival, we had excellent service throughout the evening and they decorated the desert plates with Ruby Anniversary message. The food was also fantastic 100% delighted I suggested this as the place to go.
Visited Buckle and Vaughn on numerous occasions now and I absolutely love it! The food is beautifully presented and tastes even better! The staff are friendly, courteous and always happy to help, no matter the request! We have been for quiet weekday lunches as well as larger evening functions with work and each and every time the menu on offer is incredible (highly recommend the goats cheese) and the pricing is very reasonable! The cocktails are in a league of their own (mock tails are just as good) and I cannot recommend it highly enough! If you haven’t tried it yet please do! You most certainly will not be disappointed!
Popped in with my partner for a small bite to eat and a few drinks. Staff were very welcoming, Florence the bartender made a delightful espresso martini. Decor is nice and suits the location well. Liam the manager accommodated the two of us and was very pleasant ensuring everything was right with our food and drinks. Will visit again.
I hired the back room for a private event recently; a lunch for 50 adults and kids. From the moment of enquiry, ahead of the booking, the team couldn't do more to help...creating the menu that worked best for my lunch, to the layout of the room on the day, and helping with the finer detail too. I knew my party would be noisy and the private room was perfectly contained. We were indeed noisy! The food was delicious too and the team, again, on the day, totally brilliant and absolutely delivering. We were left to party for the bits we wanted and around that we enjoyed brilliant food and lots to drink. Really impressed and helped us create and deliver a day to remember.
As regular customers of Buckle and Vaughan, we chose the back room there for my Mum's 90th Birthday lunch. The food was excellent and served in a leisurely manner. The service received from Alex and his team was outstanding. The staff were attentive but unobtrusive. Everyone commented on how well organised and enjoyable the lunch was. Thank you to all of the chefs and serving staff involved for making it such a special occasion.
Lovely Christmas lunch with colleagues. I selected the Christmas dishes and was very happy with the food. Modern presentation on prawn cocktail. Very nice. Traditional turkey dinner well presented tasty and delicious. (Roast potatoes slightly undercooked) Christmas pudding was very nice. The Custard was warm (could have been hotter)
Always a warm welcome and cheerful, efficient service from Liam and his attentive team. The food is excellent and consistent across the whole menu, including the Sunday Lunches. Perfectly located with views across The Green, our friends and family from out of town always insist on eating here whenever they visit. You should too.
I had an enjoyable 2 course lunch here. Pleasant service and relaxed atmosphere. The fixed price dishes were delicious but a little on the thin side, especially the main course calamari. I'll return for sure and probably order a dessert to fill up!
A very nice environment to eat. Has been opened up and modernised inside since the previous restaurant. Very good service, but felt it was a little overpriced for what was on offer. There are numerous restaurants in the area offering a similar menu and service more reasonably. Don't be put off, it was a lovely evening.
Was lovely to sit outside in the great weather. I was just a little disappointed that the service was not so great. We were left for a bit of time to order our food as they were making up tables for other customers. But the food made up for that. My fish grill was delicious. Scallops were cooked well with lovely butter sauce. The salmon was lovely, which was a great big piece. King prawn ws lovely n well cooked. My friend Sea Bass was massive and well seasoned. She did enjoy it very much. Thanks for the complimentary shots. It was a great end to my preBirthday treat.
I can honestly say that the food was pretty faultless. If I was mega picky I’d say that some of the vegetables may have been a bit too al a dente but that is kind of a personal taste. The restaurant was very busy and at times the service was a bit slow, but frankly so what, It was professional polite and there was a really nice atmosphere. I would recommend it
I visited Buckle and Vaughan for the first time on Saturday night for my birthday. Our party arrived separately and there must have been some confusion over the booking as for some reason we were sat at two different tables, but we soon found each other! The food selection was great, if slightly overpriced, although every single one of us loved what we ordered and that’s very rare when you eat out with a group. Their cocktail menu was also incredible and they were really well made. Although I felt the food was expensive I am happy to pay for a good quality meal, and I would definitely visit again.
Restaurant located on Winchmore Hill green, near the train station. Nice decor and ambience with lots of soft furnishings and fabrics which really helps to reduce noise. The tables weren't jammed together, again a nice touch. The service was only ok - we had to wait a long time for our starters (admittedly we were a large group BUT we had pre-ordered several weeks in advance. The food was overall ok, some dishes excellent and others average. I really enjoyed the brie tart starter but was disappointed with the sea bass main as it was a bit dry and a bit thin. A nice local. I will be back to try other dishes!
Lovely restaurant and perfect for special occasions, such as our anniversary (they even brought out a complimentary desert with "happy anniversary" written in chocolate sauce!). The food here is really nice and they obviously make an effort to pick nice staff as the service is always really good. The only reason I'm rating 4 instead of 5 is because I think the (otherwise great) atmosphere could be improved with a more appropriate choice of music over the speakers. There is a distinct 90's beach party vibe to it. Don't get me wrong, there's a time and place for it, but maybe not when I'm trying to relax and eat a nice meal.
The food was good, I'd like to see more creative vegan and vegetarian options. However the red wine dressing was incredibly salty which means the chef didnt taste the dressing he made, by salty I mean imagine adding 5 heaped spoons of salt to something, this can't be healthy. The bottles of red wine we ordered to drink were expensive yet incredibly rough in quality. At this price point the wine should be far better, smooth and low of sulphates.
Had been recommended this place by some friends who said it was the place to go for a nice dining experience as food was great and service was top notch. We had a friend in town that we wanted treat so took here here with high expectations. While the food was very tasty, we were let down by the subpar service that seemed a bit clumsy, no attention to detail and minimal interaction. Overall not terrible but nothing special. Not sure if we caught them on a bad day or what but not impressed at all.
The food was ok , nothing amazing. Calamari starter was good , main course beef roast was mediocre . The coffee after the meal was awful , espresso served in a cappuccino cup , if you're going to do an Italian restaurant, do it properly .
This restaurant has gone down hill since it was taken over. It used to have really cheerful, sparkly, on-the-ball staff but not any more. The waiters wear dirty clothes and it takes forever to get a drink, let alone order food. They keep the wine away from the table but are unattentive when glasses need refilling. They don't bother to offer more drinks or a dessert menu. They switch the lights right up at 11pm when they want you to leave. There used to be a real buzz outside on nice summer days but now they keep the umbrella up permanently (even though the outside area is shaded) which makes it feel cold and oppressive. I suspect it's too much effort to take it down. It's such a shame, this used to be such a lovely place to go, where you'd feel really welcomed and looked after. Winchmore Hill green deserves better.
first visit for myself and my daughter. My daughter's friend booked us a table for four. The restaurant was very trendy in decor with large open windows at the front of the restaurant where we were seated. it was very pleasant. The waiter who was named Carlos was very attentive. Nice choice of dishes on the menu. we chose from the Lunchtime menu for a set price. one guest ordered soup for a starter but was unable to eat it due to the hot weather. The waiter offered another starter if preferred, which was declined. Very lovely place to eat enjoyable food in a classy restaurant
What a very disappointing experience in Carlos @Buckle and Vaughan. We have eaten here before the new ownership and was fine. However last night was very poor, with the exception of the food which was great. We had a reservations on 1st Sept for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived they did not look at our booking, but just showed us to a table in the corner. No menus were offered or requests for drinks. 20 mins later a server noticed us and asked if we had ordered. We said no as we did not have any menus. We were not offered water but were asked if we wanted drinks. Food was great but the interaction with the staff was zero. Such a shame as we will not be eating there again. It is also a shame as I believe it is part of the Judged restaurants in Nothhaw and Enfield which are both very good.
