A group of 6 of us went, 4 adults, 1 teenager, and 1 child. One person in the group was coeliac. There's a children's menu, very convinient. There's a gluten-free menu, and the coeliac person had seafood pasta and it was delicious. The food was fantastic, very tasty, we mainly ordered pasta dishes. The desserts were very tasty and highly recommended. The service was super professional and very attentive. And the atmosphere was very pleasant. We sat for longer than expected as the meal went on and there wasn't a single frowning face, they were lovely. Highly recommended Italian restaurant in the Angel area, we'll definitely be back 😊.
Really one of the very best Italian restaurants I have been to. The food is very much based on the region of Puglia so don't expect the usual menu choices. The food was fantastic and Romeo our waiter was so engaging it all helped with the general experience. Highly recommend
Genuinely beautiful staff who embrace families with young children. The food is delicious and authentic. The kids menu is great too. Highly recommend!
Traditional food from Puglia and some Italian classics - would recommend and will definitely go back. Big wine selection too.
Amazing family lunch on Easter Day at Terra Rossa. Service was quick and staff very personable and kind. We had an amazing past with octopus ragout sauce with, seafood risotto (they make a different risotto every day), a staple of the Puglia cuisine, orecchiette pasta with cime di rapa (broccoli), a tasty pizza and to end on a sweet note, some gelato and the typical Pasticciotto with custard from Salento region. Price was in line with an Italian restaurant in central London, especially given two dishes had seafood. The only thing I would have liked differently is having more vegetables on the pizza but it’s just if I really need to give advice. We’ll be back for sure!!!
Now that’s how a pizza should taste! Crispy base, rich toppings, full of flavour. Proper pizza, done right. The host was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area.
It felt like being back home, during Summer. Food is spot on and typical southern. Italian. Atmosphere is just great and service is attentive but not disturbing. You must go there. I came here with my family and I was looking for a place I knew it would be easy for them to pick something to order. As we are from the south of Italy, when we got into Terra Rossa in Angel I really hoped it was good. And it was actually perfect. I felt like we were in our villa in Puglia, having food with the loved ones. Ingredients are clearly fresh, wine was amazing and serving the focaccia with pinzimonio is an idea that makes you understand that the place is run by pure southern Italian people. The meat in the Pappardelle al Cinghiale melts in your mouth and Fettuccine Funghi Porcini E Tartufo just smells like forest - having the crunchiness of the tartufo slices, it makes the dish different from the usual Funghi E Tartufo pasta. When we were there the manager told us they were trying to bring back on the menu the Vitello Tonnato, so we ordered that to see if it worth it. It probably needed a bit more sauce, to not feel too dry, but it was good overall. There's really nothing I can complain about. We were lucky we found ourselves there when there were only 4 tables to serve, so waiters and manager could give us all the attention. I really appreciated that the manager let us sit in the best spot available, at the bottom of the restaurant, without forcing us to sit in front by the window, just to attract more customers. Nobody rushed us through the meal which was quiet and relaxed, making the whole experience absolutely perfect. I'm sure it won't be the same during peak times, but if you are looking for an authentic and high quality southern Italian restaurant, Terra Rossa in Angel is where you must go.
Italian meal in Islington Puglia region. Great menu. Great food. Excellent wine and waiter to help. Shared 3 starters between 4. Huge portions 😁 Mains were all fantastic. Coffee afterwards also good. Toilets smart. Can sit inside or out😁🇮🇹🍝 Not a fancy restaurant but a very very good Italian. I loved it 😁🏴🇮🇹🇮🇹
I loved food here. The atmosphere was really cosy as well. Food wise, I can recommend trying seafood pasta and capricciosa pizza. Service was good, fast enough, but from time to time, it feels a bit intrusive as we had a date with my partner and we were asked so many times about our food and if we want anything else. I mean it could be just steps of service, but I would prefer to be asked once.
We had delicious pizzas at this restaurant before flying out of London. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Reservations highly recommended as the place can become packed.
WOW! What an incredible experience at Terra Rossa! Every dish the 6 of us had was simply perfect - rich flavours, fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. They has brilliant options for vegans (2 of us were), with separate vegan and gluten-free menus. We celebrated my husband's parents anniversary at the restaurant and had fantastic service throughout our meal - it truly made for a special day!
My partner and I had a pasta craving and fortunately this restaurant had space for walk-ins on a busy Saturday night. We both really enjoyed our dishes. The octopus ragu was so flavourful and the seafood pasta was also very delicious, with a generous amount of seafood. We shared a homemade tiramisu for dessert which definitely hit the spot as well. Staff were also really lovely. I would definitely revisit!
first time trying Terra Rossa and we had a very good lunch experience. service was exceptional, as was ambience. for food we had staples from Salento: fave e cicoria, panzerotti, orecchiette alle cime di rapa, pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale, pasticciotto (all accompanied by a good glass of negroamaro and taralli). the pasta were excellent. a bit less convincing was the pasticciotto, which was served fridge-cold and the pastry was not really "crumbly" (maybe used butter rather than lard, not sure). overall it was a very good, hearty lunch served with a wonderful smile
This is the kind of nice traditional family style Italian restaurant that you will come to have a hearty meal with friends & family. Food is good & portions decent. Prices are also reasonable & you don’t feel you have been robbed like some other places. Atmosphere is warm but I wouldn’t call romantic.
The best vegan pizza I have ever had - and I’ve been vegan for 5 years! The octopus rigatoni also had fantastic reviews, with fab service and delicious cocktails. We’ll be back.
My wife has mobility issues and not only did they allow us to sit at a 4 person table instead of a 2 person table so it was easier for her to move around, without being asked they then moved some of the surrounding tables as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. If we are ever in that part of London again we will definitely dine here again.
Delicious food, reminiscent of the pizzas we had in Italy. The quality is very close - something that its hard to find in London. The service was excellent, welcoming staff and friendly owner. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend and most certainly visit again.
Eating at Terra Rosa was such a great experience today. It was a warm evening so we were able to sit by the open doors and enjoy fresh air while eating. Romeo our waiter, was attentive and funny. He made great recommendations throughout our meal, especially our desert a homemade beignet with ice cream and caramel inside. Never tasted anything like it. Really delicious!!! Will be back again :)
1st restaurant experience in 4 months and wow! Despite the cold weather, the light was still bright and the restaurant managed to get a heater operational so it felt good. Food was well presented and tasted amazing! Parmigiana, Panzerotti, Penne a la corsara tasted delicious and cooked to perfection. Staff were super attentive and friendly.
This is a delicious and authentic family run Italian restaurant. Firstly, the service is great and the decoration and vibe is fantastic. The food itself is also of high quality and not outrageously priced for what you get. In particular, I thought that the tiramisu was delicious along with the bruschetta. They also do a great selection of wines. I would definitely recommend this place and would absolutely come back.
Simply excellent. Fabulous Puglian food and drink, just as this do it in Italy. Service was friendly and attentive. The food couldn't have been better. We cannot wait to return.
Terra Rossa transports you straight to Puglia within London's bustling streets. Stepping into this restaurant feels like entering an authentic Apulian farmhouse, complete with traditional ceramics and the aroma of freshly baked bread. Each dish boasts exceptional quality and perfectly harmonized ingredients, inviting you on a culinary journey through the 'Heel of Italy.' From fragrant taralli to mouthwatering focaccia, every bite evokes memories of travels in Puglia. Don't miss the Salento panzerotti or the tantalizing octopus a pignatu—a true taste of ancient Salento. And the burrata? A creamy delight paired exquisitely with pumpkin mousse and toasted almonds. Indulge in generous portions of paccheri with seafood sauce, pappardelle with wild boar, or grano arso, each a celebration of Apulian simplicity and flavor. Finish with the iconic pasticciotti from Lecce and a glass of red Passito. Terra Rossa is more than a restaurant—it's a gateway to unforgettable gastronomic experiences. Run, don't walk, to @terrarossa.london, and let's savor every moment together
Second time eating at Terra Rossa - loved it the first time and had a great time the second time around (despite being sat amongst big groups of people that were very loud!). The food is incredible (the burrata with pumpkin was incredible - I think it’s a more recent addition to the menu). I will be back again!! Highly recommended!
The food was truly incredible. From the pizza on the kids menu, and the chicken, to the Burrata as a starter. Every dish exceeded expectations. The highlight was undoubtedly the truffle spaghetti, which stands out as the best I've ever had in London or anywhere else in the world. The tiramisu was just the way I prefer it—creamy and generously portioned. I highly recommend trying it. The service was great too. Regrettably, our lunch was cut short due to the disturbance caused by our two young children, but we are eager to return for another visit.
Beautiful evening well spent, my third visit and incredible, delicious seafood as always. If your missing hearty italian food please stop by, very cosy and everyone is very welcoming. Great atmosphere to dine with family & friends. Gorgeous date spot too. Thanks for having me will back soon!!
We had a wonderful lunch at Terra Rossa Restaurant in Islington. Our host, Romeo was an absolute dream, and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. Very attentive and thoughtful, even taught us a few Italian words along the way. Such a wonderful experience and a place I’d highly recommend! We will be back - thanks Romeo…!! :)
Authentic delicious Puglian dishes to sink into 😍 The staff are friendly, happy and professional. We went for a late lunch on a Wednesday (today). They've extended the Eat Out to Help Out off their own backs to keep their staff in-work. It was delicious. Every dish we had was bang-on. Every month or so, I get a craving for the Terra Rossa dishes that I just can't find anywhere else in London. We ended up getting 3 starters between 2 of us. The burrata on pumpkin sauce, and the courgette strips were light and refreshing, where as the Parmigiana starter is rich and deep. I wouldn't be able to eat a whole Parmigiana to myself, but sharing a starter version is perfect. A great mix, of dishes we felt and just so delicious. The only time you'll find me eating courgette is in this restaurant! For mains the octopus ragu sends me to heaven in the first bite, every time. If you're going to try just one dish... Go for the Octopus ragu pasta! Minced octopus sauce is full of Octopus flavour, and always a melt in the mouth texture. My dining companion ordered the fresh pasta and heritage tomatoes on pureed broccoli. We enjoyed the fresh green healthy taste. The pasta was slightly sweet, and when eaten with the broccoli puree the flavours were perfectly balanced. Excellent. We left happy, full and satisfied. Looking forward to our next visit. 👍🏽
We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The service was quick, and the staff went above and beyond, even offering water for our dog. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, but the real surprise was the amazing pizza called Terra Rossa - far better than we expected to find on a high street in London. We'll definitely be coming back!
Ate here one night with my family and was so good we came again not even 24 hours later. The pizza and pasta are absolutely divine. We all agreed the last time we ate pizza this good was when we lived in Italy. Please do yourself a favor and stop by - service is lovely and atmosphere is cozy and comforting. An islington must eat!
Wonderful evening, thank you..food was delicious. So well catered for coealics too. Lovely atmosphere..drinks were great and a nice varied selection. Didn't feel rushed.
We had a fantastic meal! The staff is fantastic knowledgeable and very accommodating. Really went out of their way to make sure that we had the best time. The food was outstanding. I would gladly go back there and try everything on the menu just to see what it was like. Thank you to All of the staff for making us feel so welcome and providing exactly what one would hope for in a top London restaurant
A lovely neighbourhood gem! We had the burrata with pumpkin and amarettini which was unique and delicious. Also very impressed with the mains and shared the prawn pasta and the Bresola/rocket pizza. All accompanied by a lovely house Primitivo, The service was impeccable and attentive and I’m looking forward to coming back.
Have to say, this is the first time i had tried this place. Heard many food reviews about it. The pasta was tip top definitely recommend. Little on the pricey side, but worth it for a nite out. Staff were friendly and hospitable I will be suggesting to my friends and family and postbon my page when i get the pics together. Thankyou for the service and Grazie to all the staff. Very clean and the decor is very inviting.
Absolutely fantastic evening with friends. Group of 6 adults and everything was perfect. Slick service, great food. Lovely atmosphere. We will most definitely return to try some other dishes. Thank you!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I’m coeliac and was catered for so well. They are very careful when it comes to cross contamination. Highly recommended!
Terra Rossa is one of the best Italian family owned restaurants in Islington located halfway down Upper Street just before the Almeida Theatre. A truly authentic Italian food with home made pasta dishes and outstanding sauces. There is an assortment of fare that caters for everyone including a vegan menu. Service is excellent from all the attentive friendly owners and employees. The Atmosphere and mid range prices are as expected for this popular dining establishment in the heart of trendy Islington. Why would you visit? That’s a question you should ask the many Italian diners who frequent Terra Rossa. Book a table, you will not be disappointed. - V.Avella.
As someone who has lived in Italy, this is my favourite 'cucina' in London. The food is incredible - a mix of traditional favourites and Puglian gems. The atmosphere is vibrant and warm, and staff are friendly and attentive. It's a special place that stands out in so many ways.
Surprisingly good. Family-cooking style and the flavor is balanced and mild. All dishes we ordered are lovely. Even dessert is above the par, better than most restaurants of this price range.
Hopped in for lunch and had the lunch menu, overall would recommend. The meatballs were great and ate them up. The lasagna was also good but I prefer a firmer vs the more runny iteration of lasagna. Regardless still good food and wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again.
Came here with a friend for dinner after work on a Thursday evening. We ordered the octopus ragu paccheri as we had seen lots of good reviews about this signature dish, and then we also ordered the oriecchiette with homemade meatballs. Gotta say, maybe this is authentic Puglian so it should just taste like this but both me and my friend found the oriecchiette too salty, especially as we ate more and finished the dish. It could be because we are Asian and we are not used to food that's too salty but the meatballs especially were way too salty for our liking. The octopus ragu with paccheri on the other hand though, was absolutely wonderful. I liked the al dente pasta and I enjoyed the octopus ragu a lot as it had a rich tomato sauce and the octopus was so tender. Service was good, attentive and friendly staff, especially the man who took our payment at the end who was very humourous. Overall atmosphere was good, great for any kind of occasions, whether it's dates, birthdays, anniversaries or hangouts.
Everything was authentic, except for the food. The service was lovely from an enthusiastic host, he made good suggestions and made us feel welcome. The entree of Burrata was delicious although could have used some bread to come with. My wife ordered the seafood risotto but said the seafood didn’t feel fresh and the rice was perhaps undercooked. I felt the same for my boar pasta dish, the meat was great but the pasta was undercooked. The atmosphere was great and intimate for our table of 2, however with the food quality - I’m not sure it justifies the more than 120 pounds for an entree, two mains and two drinks.
Lovely setting, excellent service, and very tasty food! My pasta with octopus ragu was delicious, my daughter’s vegan broccoli pure pasta looked beautiful, but personally I found it bland. All in all though, a very pleasant dining experience.
Solid Italian in London. We booked a table for four for our pre-marathon meal. Their short menu is covers enough that everyone should be able to find something for them. We got a few pasta dishes and a pizza. Everyone left satisfied. The portions were a bit small but the quality was solid. It did allow us to save room for dessert, which was also a solid hit. Prices were fair, however, they did charge for tap water. Service was good, friendly without rushing you out. The restaurant is a decent size and while not packed, was fairly filled during our visit. Therefore, if you are thinking of visiting, grab yourself a reservation. Enjoy!
I had the Trofiette Alla Corsara which was delicious although a bit heavy after a while so I would recommend sharing. The parmigiana starter was the highlight and definitely worth ordering. Nice interiors with good ambience. Service was efficient albeit not very friendly. Also quite expensive.
Food and vibes are great. Serving sizes for pasta are not as I was hungry after. I probably could've had 3x the amount.
We had a good time. I love the setting of the restaurant with open windows and a lot of light. Food was great. We had bruschetta al pomodoro, fave and cicoria, burrata, melanzane alla parmigiana e pasta al grano arso. Draught beers are also local and cool.
Very overpriced for the quality. Almost £20 for what is essentially poorly seasoned pasta & broccoli (Orecchiette e Cime di Rapa). As an Italian myself I was shocked at the quality of this dish and its lack of authenticity and flavour. Our wine was poor too. Everything is expensive for the quality and the service was fine but not on par with the price. I would not return.
Very hit and miss. I think they try really hard with their service to compensate for poor experiences, which is appreciated, however I had one of the worst starters I think I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The scallop with “turnip top purée” was really quite revolting. The scallops were not cleaned properly and still had their sacs on which added a really bitter flavour. They were also not seared well and were cold in the middle. I’m still unsure what the turnip purée was but I can confirm it tasted like a mound of stale browned avocado mush and was extremely unpleasant. The seafood pasta was better, although most of the clams had no meat in them so just empty shells and certainly not worth £22. I would be very reluctant to return here.
Truffle pasta was extremely oily and had no real flavour of mushroom. Appreciated the gluten free options but the sauces were fairly flavourless. The chocolate soufflé was delicious and staff extremely friendly
Would not recommend this place. The food was pretty awful. The presentation was very unappealing. I didn't finish. Staff were nice though. There is a vegan menu.
