The Mayfair Chippy is an excellent place for traditional fish and chips. The chips were amazing, with a great selection of sauces, and the shrimp and fish were all delicious and perfectly cooked. I also appreciated that the food is served without alcohol. It reminded me of a similar experience I had in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. I highly recommend visiting and giving it a try.9.5/10. Reservation is recommended .

Absolute fabulous! Squid and prawn toast for starters… Haddock & Chips for mains… The best fish & chips we’ve had for years! All food wonderfully cooked. Great service from start to finish and a lovely welcome from the Door hostess as we entered! Highly recommend!

Best takeaway experience in Knightsbridge! We decided to grab fish and chips for take away and ordered the Mayfair Classic Haddock. It was absolutely delicious - perfectly crispy batter and fresh, flaky fish that came with the chips and a full set of sauces. The tartar sauce was my favorite, followed closely by the gravy, with the pea sauce as a great third. A really nice feature here is the dedicated gin and cocktail bar. We went to grab a drink and relax while we waited for our food to be prepared, which made the wait feel like part of the experience rather than a chore. This is a newer sister site to the award-winning original Mayfair location. It is perfectly located on Brompton Road, just a stone’s throw from Harrods, making it the perfect 'posh chippy' fix to escape the crowds. Highly recommended!

My family and I had a wonderful experience at this establishment. When you first walk into this place it appears small, but as you walk to the back it opens to a lovely dining space with a glass roof. Quite charming. On to the food. Of course, our primary interest was fish and chips ... and we were not disappointed! The cod was nice and flaky, wrapped with a lightly battered shell. Delicious!! And this chips were also cooked to perfection. The service was quite good as well. I highly recommend.

The best fish and chips in town! They even have vegetarian and vegan options. The vegetarian option is amazing, just like the classic one. The tartar sauce is 10/10! I highly recommend this restaurant. Moreover, the staff is lovely! It’s impossible not to eat there when in London.

If you're a fan of classic food, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Their classic Fish & Chips was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The fish was perfectly done. And mussels is yummy. They use fresh ingredients because every bite was clean & tender.

The food was really good and they we’re accommodating to my partners gluten intolerance. The GF fish and chips were just as good if not better than the original. If you don’t have a big appetite, consider splitting the chips and one person just get a piece if fish- it was a lot. The curry sauce was good. The only complaint was a 12,5% service charge that was added to the bill when it came to the table- again- small fries, but just thought it was worth mentioning.

Excellent meal here, with myself having the classic cod and chips, and my wife having the truffle loaded chips. Bothe were excellent, the fish cooked very nicely with a crispy batter and very nicely cooked chips with lots of bits which I really enjoyed. The staff were a little cold though and seemed far happier talking to themselves than us, but still the meals were served promptly and we enjoyed our lunch. Both the tartare sauce and curry sauce stood out as particularly good and I’d return just to taste that tartare again.

An outstanding spot, easily one of the most impressive places of its kind. The service is sharp, the food is exceptionally crisp and clean, and the quality is unmistakable in every dish. Even the sauces are on a different level. This place genuinely sets a higher standard.

This was my first meal in London. The Mayfair Chippy is a cozy and stylish seafood restaurant in the heart of London, famous for serving one of the best fish and chips experiences in the city. Located in the upscale Mayfair area, it combines a traditional British chippy vibe with a modern, elegant twist, making it perfect for both casual diners and food lovers seeking a touch of sophistication. We ordered the classic fish and chips, paired with traditional sides like mushy peas, curry sauce, and tartare sauce — all of which were spot-on. We also tried the oyster mushrooms, and they were absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. Whether you’re a first-time visitor to London or a local craving authentic British comfort food, The Mayfair Chippy is definitely worth a stop. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a classic British meal done right.

The haddock and chips were so delicious. Portions were generous. The tartar souce was nice but the others were not my type. The triffle had the great balance of fruit and custard. We hope to be there again.

The food was really good. We had the fish and chips and they did it right. The service was friendly and attentive without feeling over the top. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, which made it easy to sit back and enjoy the meal. Overall, a great spot with a nice balance of good food, good service, and a pleasant vibe.

I can see why these Mayfair Chippy won restaurant of the year at the KWCC Awards. Outstanding food and service… it has all the British charm of a classic chippy but elevated in a way that reflects the glamorous area it operates in. We’ll definitely be back ❤️

We had a lovely evening at The Mayfair Chippy’s served by our lovely waitress Ranjita on the night of 20th November. She gave us the time needed, returned and heard what we wanted and provided beautiful service. We loved every bite of our meal and definitely will make it to our monthly dining outing. Thank you for the delicious dish and amazing service from R. 10/10 across the board

I was surprised beyond my wildest expectations. The fish are enormous and you have a fillet of loin only with no tail. Chips are to die for. If you have the classic you get mushy peas, curry sauce and tartar sauce. If you go in January it is two for one at this location. Amazing! This branch is also more chilled than the Mayfair location.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Mayfair Chippy. We had the classic Haddock fish and chips and it was amazing crispy batter and very flavorful. The portions were generous and everything tasted top quality. The staff were wonderful: friendly and very welcoming which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re in London and craving proper fish and chips!

Had the classic cod and chips without the mushy pies. The cod was cooked just right with the batter nice and crispy. The gravy so also just right not to think or think. The curry sauce was not to spicy. The only down side for me was the tartar sauce could have a little more flavour. Nice little touch at the end with a little bag of sweets rather than the usual mints. Overall a very nice place to eat.

Excellent Fish & Chips - lovely batter, very good tartar sauce. The Haddock is recommended. Batter fried halloumi cheese highly recommended as a starter. Portions very generous - we split one order and it was more than enough. Good service even when they got busy.

Absolutely flawless, I’ve had fish and chips everywhere and I mean everywhere. WOW. This place is levels on levels. Service is 10/10 and when you think nothing could be the service the food comes… Jaw dropping-ly good !! Would go more often if it was closer to me

One of the best halal fish and chips I’ve had for a while. Walking in was a bit weird because we weren’t welcomed and the lady was on the phone but thankfully we were taken care of by Ramzan who was awesome. Really gave us a lot of attention and help. Fish and chips were big so two people can easily share. We got the cod. Check it out!

Knightsbridge is always buzzing and The Mayfair Chippy was no different. We went on a Tuesday early evening and it was packed, perhaps because of the school holidays. From the moment we walked in, I had a gut instinct the food would be really good, even before ordering. I went with my wife and two children. Being quite clued up about food, I asked whether the batter was beer batter. It was, but they also offered a non-alcoholic option, which we chose. We ordered the fried cod with chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and chip shop curry sauce, as well as the fried haddock with the same sides. The portions looked generous, so we decided to share. What can I say? It was hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had. The tartare sauce was on another level, and the mushy peas and curry sauce were equally impressive. We finished the meal by sharing the sticky date pudding. It was delicious, though very rich. All in all, a fantastic experience and highly recommended.

10/10 service from Ranjita who made us feel at home from the moment we walked in. Best fish and chips we’ve had in London. A bustling restaurant that doesn’t feel rushed or pressured or intense. Would happily eat here again, and intend on doing so!

Fun, elevated fish and chips restaurant with fresh oysters, vegan options, and meat options. The fish and chips are terrific and the batter they use is delicate and crispy. The chips are next level good. Make a reservation and get yourself here quickly.

Food was perf! Best fish & chips in London! Serving was good - quality was nice - we were also seated fast. Love!! :) The unique thing for me are the selections of dips for the fish & chips - the variations made it more enjoyable to eat

Great take on the classic fish and chips. Restaurant and take out options. Menu is classic dish focused and a great option is the haddock & chips with mushy peas gravy and tartar sauce to cover all the bases.

The food was absolutely delicious. I was definitely not expecting it to be that good. I was like huh, might as well try it out, and then I was like Whoa! This food is amazing!! I definitely recommend it to anyone who is hungry and ready for some delicious food.

The Mayfair Chippy in Knightsbridge serves the best fish & chips in London! We sat outside and really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere – the outdoor seating is lovely but limited, so making a reservation is definitely the best idea. Highly recommended if you want to try top-quality fish & chips in a nice spot

Awesome place for fish and chip. The best I had. It gives you 3 sauces. Cornish crab salad is also superb. Rush hour need reservation.

We visited here for lunch around 1pm, make sure to book in advance as it’s very popular and worth the visit, they do takeaway also! We wanted to try the Vegan options on the menu, for starter we have the crispy oyster mushrooms with truffle sauce. This was delicious, the truffle sauce was the perfect combination with the mushrooms and was addictive flavour. For main we had the To-Fish. This came with chips, mushy peas and siracha mayo. This was such a delightful alternative to your normal fish and chips. The portions were large but you can always take a goody bag home with the left overs, just ask them to bag them up. Of course we had a sweet treat, we had the pistachio ice cream, but there is a vegan option available which is chocolate. Would definitely recommend as it has many options especially for you Veggie/Vegan friends!

Absolutely loved my visit to The Mayfair Chippy Knightsbridge. The fish and chips were excellent, perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, and tender and flaky on the inside. You can really tell that high quality ingredients are used, and everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. On top of that, the atmosphere is calm and relaxed, which is a nice change and makes it a great spot to sit back and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. A fantastic place for classic British comfort food done right. I would definitely recommend it and would happily come back again.

I had a wonderful experience at The Mayfair Chippy during their iftar menu. The food was excellent — very tasty, high quality, and perfectly portioned. It was extremely fulfilling after a long day of fasting, and you can really tell they put thought into the menu. The service was equally impressive. Our waiter, Pooja, was very kind, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. She made us feel welcome and ensured everything was perfect. Overall, a fantastic iftar experience. I highly recommend it and will definitely be coming back again.

We came specifically for the Mayfair Classic Fish and Chips, and were lucky to catch their 10th anniversary promotion at 2015 prices. We ordered two portions — a bit overambitious, as the servings were huge. The food came quickly. The fish was perfectly fried — crispy on the outside, tender inside. It came with the usual tartare sauce and mushy peas (slightly on the dry side), plus a curry sauce that was an interesting twist. Very filling and satisfying. If it were at the regular price, it’s a bit on the expensive side for fish and chips. The restaurant itself is cosy and comfortable (those checkerboard tiles looks pretty!). Though the tables are a bit close together. Service was a little inconsistent — some staff seemed stretched even when the restaurant wasn’t full — but overall it didn’t ruin the experience.

Fish and chips are aplenty in town and there are several notable famous names such as this one. I ordered the signature fish and chips with haddock and curry gravy as well as a serving of scotch egg for a start. Portion of the fish and chips was rather sizeable and could feed 2 pax if you're not feeling that famished. The batter was light and crisp and the haddock meat was flaky and robust in texture. The curry gravy and mayo sauce helped to add some layers of flavor to your fish. The fries were nicely prepared with a good crunch on the outside and a warm soft pillowy inside. I would say that this was probably one of the better tasting fish and chips out there. The scotch egg was not bad. The egg yolk was jammy and the meat ball was okay. Service was quite commendable as the staff can be attentive. The decor of the place was neat and clean with plenty of natural light in the upper deck. Prices were definitely on the higher end but that's to be expected with the established name here. While I am no big fan of fish and chips, I reckon I would choose this if I had to dine in one.

I think I may have expected too much. I visited during a promotional period, so the place was extremely busy. Compared to the full price, receiving such a large portion of fish along with various sauces felt reasonable. However, I don’t think the fish was fried particularly well. It was quite soggy, and the batter did not adhere properly to the fish. The curry sauce was rich, but in my opinion, it was slightly too sweet. I did enjoy the chips, which were nicely crisp. I might visit again at a less busy time, or perhaps try a different branch instead.

B
Buse Dastan

The staff are super sweet and helpful, and the place seems popular mainly because it’s close to Harrods. The presentation was nice and the portions were quite big, but honestly, the taste doesn’t really match the price. It’s quite expensive for what you get probably because of the location. Would I recommend it? Only if you’re really craving fish and chips. Otherwise, I wouldn’t say it’s a must-try spot. The calamari were overcooked and served cold, which was disappointing. But to be fair, all the staff were genuinely kind and smiling the whole time.

C

Cod currently off menu and replaced with haddock or hake. Had fish & chips w/ haddock. Was fair. Also had fried prawns. Both were a little greasier than necessary.

B
Brendan Mulvaney

Really nice meal. Breading is light, but still nice and crispy. Fish was just perfect, light, flaky, moist. The tartar sauce has just enough kick to be a great accompaniment without overpowering the haddock. And for the Christmas season, the warm mulled wine is a nice addition. It’s a bright and friendly interior with window seats as well as booths and tables.

E
Eamon Ho

Perfect crispness and even golden color with either hake or haddock on a bed of chips with mashed peas, tartar sauce and curry dips. Lots of great fish and chips in London but perfectly executed with more of a sit down experience of you don't partake often. The Knightsbridge location is significantly less crowded than the Mayfair location which had a 3 hour waiting list the same day.

The cod and prawn toast was amazing! Very flavoursome and really enjoyed the curry sauce. The mushy peas were bland and cold. The loaded truffle chips weren’t anything extraordinary and only subtly truffled. The cod bap was good but would definitely opt for the fish and chips next time or perhaps try the lobster roll as that looks delicious. The service wasn’t the best. No one came to check if the food was alright. The waitress gave us the wrong chip order and when we explained to her she was dismissive and got a colleague to sort it out. It was sorted pretty quickly but the food was a little cold by then. Decor and ambience was nice, feels a little crammed inside however rather clean and has resemblance of inside a ship. No AC which was really inconvenient especially whilst London is currently experiencing warmer weather than usual. I had to use my own handheld fan and this just wasn’t ideal for me or my partner as he was drenched by the time we got out! This really should be sorted out ASAP regardless of the situation as I can’t imagine it’s good for food standards etc. Overall, would say in the top 5 of fish and chips I’ve tried. The chips were a little dry but the fish and sesame prawn toast was really delicious. For that reason, I would return again. Overall: 7.7/10 (taking into consideration other elements mentioned).

AVERAGE. + nice decor and vibes + freshly made, hot and crispy batter - overly oily that’s sickly - chips aren’t homemade/fresh Was it worth trying? Just the once. Would I return? No. 5/10. Muskan was our waitress and she was super helpful and friendly - thank you so much.

5min walk from V&A museum.Fish&Chips is popular here and it is very tasty in big amount. Love the tartar dip. Late lunch..reservation is not required.. not sure for dinner...

Very quick service. Ordered Classic fish and chips and despite the ongoing half price promotion still wouldn’t say it was worth the visit. The fish was on smaller side all batter hardly any fish and way too oily to the point the oil was dripping off the fish and the chips when cutting into your food which was unpleasant. Tables packed way too close together and chairs were sticky far from a relaxing experience. Have previously dined at the Mayfair Branch and it was a much better experience.

I went to that restaurant in Kensington today, and the female receptionist there had such a nasty attitude—she’s the one with Middle Eastern features. I did arrive right on the dot, not even a minute early. As soon as I walked in, she told me to wait first. When I gave my name for the reservation, she said I was a minute late. I explained I’d gotten lost by accident and was delayed, and I’d already had to rush over since I couldn’t book a convenient time in the first place. I was actually right on time when I walked in; it was only because she made me wait that the minute ticked by… She kept insisting my reservation was cancelled. I argued I hadn’t been late when I arrived, and then she suddenly said I could still dine but had to wait ten minutes—with a really rude attitude. I said okay, no problem, but there were free tables everywhere and I could’ve sat down immediately. Then the food took forever to come out. I asked for some water, and she just waved me off to wait, holding her order pad and pretending to be busy—and that was it, she never came back. I had to ask another server to get me water in the end. The food was absolutely terrible, too. The fish was tough and covered in a ton of batter, with no flavor at all. Even with a 50% discount, it wasn’t worth it. They even charged me a service fee for this! I’d think it’s overpriced even for 3 pounds. I just wanted to try it because it was on sale since I’m in the UK, but clearly cheap stuff is cheap for a reason. How dare they charge a service fee for this kind of service? It was utterly disgusting.

Congratulations on the 10th anniversary. I appreciated the chance to enjoy an event with prices from 2015. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Most of the staff appeared irritated and unfriendly, which made the dining experience uncomfortable. One male server in particular seemed especially so, as if he was having a bad day. Sorry, that was unprofessional. The only exception was one blond white male staff member, who was very kind, friendly and pleasant. I briefly considered asking for the service charge to be removed, but decided not to, as it was not a big deal and his friendly attitude left a positive impression. Honestly, fish and chips were decent, and I did like the atmosphere and interior. Overall, the experience was mixed due to the service.

E
Efe Zeybel

First of all, the service was good, I have to give credit to the staff. However, I can't say the same for the rest; many things were below expectations. The interior was stuffy and there was a strong smell of food. There was a slight stickiness on the seats and table we sat at; I don't know if it was from cleaning products or something else. The fish and chips tasted average, but the price was very high; the price-performance ratio is very poor. The lobster sandwich was the same way. I would recommend going to other fish and chips places in London or the surrounding area.

Excellent food, but lack of transparency: Visiting London for the second time, I decided to come back here since I had really enjoyed it on my first visit years ago. I was pleasantly surprised to find out about their 10-year anniversary promotion (50% off the “Mayfair Classic” fish and chips) taking place during my short stay. At the time of my booking, the offer was advertised on their website as valid this month (5-31 January 2026), with reservation, and only at the Knightsbridge location, so I booked a table. The food was excellent, as expected. However, when the bill arrived, I was charged full price!!!! £26.50 instead of £13.50!! I didn’t object immediately because earlier that evening, while waiting to be seated, I had noticed a small sign at the entrance stating that the promotion was “available Sun - Wed”, a condition that was not specified on the website when I booked. Since I dined on a Monday and was charged full price, I assumed I had misunderstood the terms and that the offer might apply only on Sunday AND Wednesday, which is why I didn’t question the bill further. At the time of my visit, the website did not specify any particular days for the promotion; it appears this has since been updated: from Sun to Thu and from the 19th available daily. This confirmed that I was in fact eligible, since it was Monday and I had made a reservation (see photos). To make matters worse, I ordered an orange juice that wasn’t listed on the paper menu handed to me but appeared on the website as “Eager Orange Juice, £3.95”. I was instead served a “fresh orange juice”, not specified anywhere, neither online nor on the paper menu, and charged £5.50. This restaurant held a special place for me, as it was where I had my very first dinner during my first visit to the city. Unfortunately, despite the excellent food, this time the experience left me disappointed. The staff were polite and entertaining, but due to the shock and confusion caused by the full-price bill, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving an additional tip, which may have seemed rude, though I had paid the service charge. Excellent food, but very poor transparency and misleading communication. Promotions and prices should be clear and consistent across all channels.

G
Gary Rees

Had a lovely meal, fish tasted very fresh. It is on the pricey side £26.50 for haddock and chips. The food was definitely 5*, the serving staff were great. The reason for the 2* overall review was when paying for the meal they add a 12.5% mandatory service charge so the meal goes from £26.50 to £29.81! The sneaky service charge wasn't advertised in the restaurant or on the menu. It didn't feel correct to be surprised by this at the point of paying, especially a mandatory service charge, surely if it's mandatory they'd add it to the menu price. For the sneaky service charge surprise I would not go back there, even though the food was good
