Had such a nice time here on Sunday. Staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Had the pork roast which was the best roast I have had in a while. The ambiance was really nice and we really enjoyed the overall experience.

Hands down the best Sunday roast we’ve had in London, with the friendliest staff - and a fantastic wine list to boot!

Came in this afternoon for a spot of lunch, was served by Francisco, and had a lovely time ! Very polite, well manner and attentive gentleman - the food came out nice and promptly. Our only comment is the music could have been turned down a notch, otherwise a pleasant experience. Thank you :)

🚇 South Kensington 🍺 £5.85 Heineken ❤️ A food focused traditional Chelsea pub. . The Admiral Codrington or “The Cod” as it is known locally is situated in a quiet side street in Chelsea. To get here by Tube use South Kensington, it’s an eight minute walk to get here. . This pub was originally built in 1830. Due to railway tunnelling between South Ken and Sloane Square, the pub was rebuilt in 1860. This boozer is named after the naval officer Edward Codrington who captained at the Battle of Trafalgar and later, as Vice Admiral defeated the Turks at Navarino in 1827. . The decor here has a bit of old school charm about it in and around the main bar area. At the back of the bar is the dining area with open kitchen. To the left of the pub is a cosy covered outside space. The whole overall feel of the place was not that of a Gastropub for which the pub is famed for. . The beer choice was straightforward with one cask option available. I ordered a pint of Heineken which was good and pleasingly under six quid. Food-wise, the pub prides itself on offering a modern take on beloved British classics, all prepared using fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. In 2022 this pub appeared in the UK Top 100 Gastropubs list. . I popped in here with my Daughter for a quick drink after visiting The Saatchi gallery to see the Beyond The Streets exhibition celebrating Graffiti and Hip Hop culture. We visited on a Sunday just after 6pm and it seemed we had missed the rush as the kitchen closed at 5pm. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with a dozen or so punters in attendance. The calmness was offset to a soulful soundtrack which was a nice backdrop to the ambience. The service was good, the member of staff who served is was polite and efficient. . @theadcod was a nice visit, my Daughter and I enjoyed chilling out here and having a catch up. I like the decor as it wasn’t full of pastel colours and had an authentic pub feel. The beer was good and the food receives positive reviews. If you fancy somewhere away from the hustle and bustle in SW3, this pub will probably be right up your street. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 26.03.23

Can't say enough about this place. We ate there approx. 4 times during a 12 days trip in November. One of which was for Sunday Roast which was perfection. Get there early on a Sunday (like before 1:30 pm) if you plan to have the traditional Sunday meal. They do Open Table reservations which make it simple even if you're 10 minutes away. We hit them up on a Tuesday for burger night where my husband had a Chorizo and Prawn burger while I had a traditional beef burger with bacon and cheddar. Both were quite good. We also enjoyed their Fish and Chips several times. The pub house beer (a Cask I believe) was excellent, give it a try. Good prices, reminder that you don't get shoved out the door like American restaurants, you can take your time and enjoy the ambience.

Good cocktails, and amazing service from both Morgan and francesco! Personally love the scotch egg, pairs beautifully with a cheeky cocktail! Beautiful atmosphere will definitely come again.

What a lovely pub. I felt right at home the moment I came in. The drinks, the food and the atmosphere were all perfection. I went in with a couple of friends and we all had the Sunday roast. Best in the area so far. Our host, Francisco was very welcoming and overall great. Shoutout to him! Will definitely be coming back.

First time here. My wife is a wheelchair user so obviously gonna focus on that. No disabled access but fortunately she can walk and manage the 1 step. The staff were so kind, helpful and obliging and helped us to a suitable table. No disabled toilets but fortunately, as my wife can walk a few steps, she was able to access the toilets. A member of staff noticed she was struggling and offered help if needed. To us, this meant everything and we felt we were valued customers. Not often the case in other establishments where we feel like an inconvenience. Should we ever be in the vicinity again, we would love to call in for a drink. Customer service costs nothing but means everything to us. Thank you.

This is the first time I've been to an English pub, an adult. The atmosphere was nice. The staff was amazing. We had Fish and Chips which I thought was very good. Turns out it's a 4-minute walk from where we are staying, so I can see ourselves going there again.

Really great pub tucked away near South Kensington station. Delighted to sit in the mini-garden for a rare central London al fresco lunch. Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Felt like an authentic spot and not soulless like other chain pubs!

We loved it. The Cod was my parents local pub in the early 1960s and it was wonderful to be there. My father, on seeing my pictures, laughed that it was a great deal more upmarket now. The food was lovely and the service was excellent.

I hosted a large group of friends for drinks and dinner here. The vibe and food was very good, and great service for our group (shoutout to Thomas!). Incredibly accomodating as well - as they had set up a table for us to have drinks prior to dinner, and it was also no issue adding a table & seat due to an unexpected addition to the group. Highly recommend!

We absolutely LOVED our Sunday lunch here last weekend! The food was outstanding — the roast pork was incredibly sumptuous, the chicken was cooked to perfection, and even the kids’ menu was impressive. Every bite was bursting with flavor. The cocktails were unbelievably delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely, with beautiful décor that made the whole experience even better. The service was impeccable too. It was such a fantastic meal that we’ve already booked again for my husband’s birthday this coming Sunday!

I wanted to say thank you for a wonderful evening at The Admiral Carrington . The atmosphere was fantastic, warm and full of life, and we truly enjoyed every moment. The food, cocktails and wine were outstanding and went far beyond our expectations. A special thank you to Thomas for his outstanding hospitality. His professionalism, friendliness and attention to detail made us feel genuinely welcomed and very well looked after. It is rare to find venues that offer such a great combination of energy, service and character. We left with big smiles and are already looking forward to returning very soon. Thank you again for a memorable night

We’re at Admiral Codrington for my husband’s the 35st birthday. Staff, vibe, service.. everything was perfect. There is only one improvement point is about meat portion in Sunday roast. I don’t think that beef portion is enough if you consider the price.

Visited for lunch and sat at the back of the restaurant which was lovely. Plenty of people at the front who were socialising for drinks on a Friday and a quiet room inside which was lovely for a catchup. Enjoyed the fish special of the day and service was just right. Checked on us regularly without imposing on our catchup which is an art form in my view. Great spot a short walk away from the crowds near South Kensington for lunch.

Superb Sunday Roast! 10 out of 10 on all counts! We had a lovely time and most certainly will be booking again! Thanks!

The Admiral Codrington – Chelsea A proper British pub in Chelsea serving traditional classics the right way. I ordered the Fish & Chips, and it was perfectly crisp, fresh, and well-balanced — exactly what you expect from a reputable London pub. The service was attentive and professional, and the atmosphere feels authentic with a strong local crowd, which always reflects consistency and quality. This spot clearly stands out among other pubs in the area. I’ll definitely return to try the sticky toffee pudding next.

The Cod's a quality establishment, it feels comfortable and relaxed. The large bow windows, the attractive heavy-set bar and the well-placed real flowers all mark this out as a classy venue. It's a Butcombe pub, with eight of the brewery's beers available. There's a drinks list which actually includes pints too, which is very rare and most welcome. The pub was first licenced in 1830, and it was rebuilt in the 1860s as the railways in South Kensington took hold. It'snamed after Admiral Codrington who fought in the Battle of Trafalgar as captain of a ship called the Orion.

Lovely atmosphere and a pretty nice pub. The food was good, we all got burgers and were fairly impressed. The chips were really the star of the show, the triple cooked fries were mostly roast potatoes and the cheesy truffle fries were really tasty with a proper cheese used on top (not rubbish cheese that tastes of nothing!). Definitely enjoyable for a quick lunch.

The Admiral Codrington, a fine little pub tucked away on Mossop street in South Kensington. Unfortunately, struggling to deliver a bit, partly due to the building site across the road I suspect, also the cellar hatch not working and cordoned off with barriers. No cask ales today, although normally three on judging by the badges. Very pleasant staff to help with a drink. Look forward to editing my review soon.

Sadly this is no longer a gastropub at all. Service is very friendly, nice beers, nice pub with outside area. But food has gone seriously downhill. Used to be *really* good but after their renovation a few years ago only hard tasteless burgers etc. So sad.

As locals, we always love this pub. However, there was an inquiry regarding our Christmas booking a few days ago over the phone with a lady who claimed to be the manager or the person in charge. Unfortunately, we didn’t fully understand the details she provided, so we decided to visit in person to complete our booking. After 15 minutes of conversation, everything we discussed was changed, and she began talking about something else. We were confused and shocked at the same time. Her explanations didn’t make sense at all, which led us to decide to book our Christmas party elsewhere. There has to be a better system for handling booking inquiries, and it seems she does not understand how to accommodate any inquiries. We will return and give it another try next year.

Don’t understand how it takes 10 minutes to get served every time I come here, even when almost empty. It’s quite impressive. Usually 3 behind the bar but only 1 seems interested in serving. Just ordered this and they were too rushed to make the rim. But I’ll be back because it’s convenient.
