I Visited Italia Uno for the first time and thought it was fantastic. Proper old school Italian café. No thrills, just a good place to get a bit of lunch and sip a coffee. I get that some people want a bit more from an Italian, probably the same folk who've never been to Italy and think all cafés and restaurants there are sophisticated and elegant. This is real. The Pasta and Panini were great and the Torta de Nonna was just as good as I've had in Italy. The food and coffee in my pictures came to little over £16. I'll be back

Authentic and great-value Italian cuisine, served with the homeliest and warmest smiles. Uncle is a local treasure, as are his wife and eldest son who run the cafe with him. The decor’s also brilliant. You won’t find a more eclectic range of Napoli kit anywhere else, and you can always watch La Liga on the telly as you wait.

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food is way better than you’d expect. The sandwiches are made with fresh, hand-cut meat, real cheese, and crisp veggies. The sun-dried tomatoes stood out—they added a ton of flavor. It’s a small, family-run spot with good portions, and at £5 for a 10-inch sandwich, it’s a great deal. Definitely one of those places you might overlook, but once you try it, you’ll get why people keep coming back. I’ll be stopping by for another sandwich next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Incredibly cheap Italian food, good quality and nice location. Although the place may look a bit messy, it's really worth to go.

The best. Food, value, the staff, everything. Soon there will be very few places like this left in london (let alone central london) and that will be sad.

This place is super Italian and the sandwiches are affordable, so fresh and so delicious! Very much recommended for a breakfast or lunch :) I had the number 2 and enjoyed every last bite!

Cute authentic Italian experience. Such a gem.

This is a very authentic Italian café with incredibly delicious food and unbelievably good prices. You’ll quickly forget that you’re in London, having just come from the busy Oxford Street. Instead, you’ll find yourself enjoying fresh, homemade Italian food, excellent coffee, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with great homecooked food. We had meat pasta of the day which was bolognese, aubergine parmigiana, a sparkling water and nonna’s cake, all for about £16. Very good value. Also cash friendly.

Affordable / cheap but really savory sandwiches. Excellent price for the quality of the products used. Ham and mozzarella were excellent. I Recommend if you want to watch the soccer game too

I have been coming here consistently when I come to my office near this place. It is an absolute gem in the middle of SOHO and I feel like I’m in Italy when I’m here. It’s got delicious authentic food for unbeatable prices, and the owner is incredibly nice. I am never disappointed with the melanzane alla and toasted bread for just over a fiver

A hidden gem no less. Pasta of the day for 5 pounds, large variety of panini and lovely stuff.

Firstly, the most charming lovely cafe, run by a great team. Secondly very affordable and tasty food from fresh pasta to sandwiches. Always a queue at lunch but well worth the wait

This review is primarily based on the sandwiches made here and my overall experiences here over countless visits over the years. This is not your fancy sandwich place, this is your Italian hole in the wall, fresh deli meat on bread kinda place with a cappuccino on the side kinda place. Whatever the Italian version of a greasy spoon is, this is it (but without the grease). Family owned and run they make top tier sandwiches and lovely coffee at a price you shouldn't be able to get in central London (I'm surprised more students are coming here for their fill). Some of the other stuff outside of the sandwiches can be a bit hit or miss, but for the price I don't think you're justified to complain. My only fault would be sometimes, closer to the evening they run out of the nice soft bread they use and the alternative doesnt quite hit the same, but still this place is far far better than a lot of the other sandwich places nearby and it's open, somehow, pretty much all day. Oh and the interior is just a real quirky mix of everything, with TVs playing 3 different Italian channels at any one time, almost always one with football. I find its nicest to sit outside, but often I'm just grabbing and going for lunch.

Found this place when looking for a hot chocolate after dinner and was not disappointed. The owner has been running this place for the last 38 years (!!) and is an absolute joy to talk to. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a decent hot drink for fair prices & I will definitely be back.

Walking passby, and find this place so charming - as have the original Italian cafe feeling . Sit down for a coffee and just watch time passing , so relaxing . Would come for food next time . Owner is sooooo friendly .

A gem. £5.50 for most items and it's absolutely fantastic. What you imagine an authentic Italian deli to be. Fresh ingredients, great bread. My friend had chicken escalope with salad and I had the vegetarian breakfast which was scrambled eggs with all the best parts of an Italian antipasti plate. Fresh, light and very competitive prices. I've recommended it immediately to my family and friends.

Very cute little shop, feels very authentically italian - just two italian men making beautiful fresh sandwiches. super affordable and utterly delicious. I tried the lasagne too which was divine

E
Ernesto Santibanez

Traditional Italian cafe serving a wide variety of panini - at very reasonable prices - lasagna, and of course coffee. Additional Italian products such as biscuits and soft drinks are also on sale. The owners are very special - huge football fans and never miss a match thanks to their 3 TVs! You could say the decor is a bit old fashioned, but you will honestly feel in Italy, in a typical unpretencious neighbourhood cafe.

we are 100% coming back next time we are in london. we got the tomato soup, melanzane alla parmigiana, arancine and meat lasagne and it was one of the best meals we've ever had. owner has earth shattering aura. we forgot to take pictures of the food before eating cause it looked and smelled too good to wait (they weren't shy with the parmegiano) so here's a picture of us holding out plates licked clean so u can see how satisfied we were. only place i trust to make coffee in london. no notes.

Went in for a quick lunch, and ordered a spaghetti bolognese. Perfect al dente pasta with meaty sauce. Service was attentive. I should try other dishes, including pizza. Probably one of the best value for money Italian restaurants in the neighborhood.

Best pasta I have tried so far in London. Superb taste at a very affordable price. £4.50 for a big plate of pasta? Yes! Plus the people serving and preparing the food are genuinely nice! I will definitely come back!

A proper authentic Italian cafe. I had fresh salad with sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, topped with tuna. 😋 The best Americano coffee ☕️ I've ever had. Rich, dark coffee with a frothy golden-brown crema on top, with a small patch of lighter bubbles near the center. This coffee leaves me with an aftertaste of chocolate or toffee. 🥰

Hidden gem walking distance from Soho. The dine-in area is not that attractive but you will never have such fresh and yummy pasta for less than 6gbp (We paid like 15gbp for a proper meal of 2). Owner was smiley and helpful too.

Absolutely amazing. £4.70 for a slab of DELICIOUS lasagne, perfect little side salad, crispy garlic bread, gorgeous little seat out front. Felt like I was on holiday! Now one of my favourite places in London. (I just wish they sold alcohol so I could have had a beer with it!)

E

Such a pleasure to be served by felizio (felix) who is the cafe owner. He was so kind and made us feel at home. The prices are nominal and the food tastes homemade. Absolutely would return back for a long meal.

F

The most authentic Italian cafe I've even been to in the UK. Reminds me of sandwiches I've had in Florence or Naples and so reasonably priced especially for London. Pasta is homemade too. Run don't walk here!

F

an absolute gem of a place. as a student, i feel like getting food out is a luxury. but because of their reasonable prices, i can get two sandwiches (one to eat in and go) and a coffee! all for 11.30!

One of the best cafes in London! I've been going to Italia Uno for over a year, and each time the food is absolutely delicious and the service is so friendly and welcoming. I normally get a number nine sandwich with aubergines, but all of them are delicious and I could eat one every day. The pasta is also great, especially the lasagne. Their cappuccino is the best I've found in London, and super affordable aswell. Overall, a fantastic family run business, and I hope their success continues to grow and grow.

A good place to go for a budget lunch in Fitzrovia. Simple but tasty Italian sandwiches - £4 for a mortadella and cheese panino is such great value. Would highly recommend.

I’d give this place 6 stars if I could. The food is delicious and very cheap, especially considering the area it’s in. I come here very regularly and have only ever had positive experiences. The meat is cut fresh to order and nothing is prepackaged, and the drinks are great too.

S

In a world of chain cookie cutter cafes with freezing cold sandwiches (pret anyone?) it’s nice to go somewhere where the bread is warm and the food tastes of a home kitchen rather than a uniform corporate recipe. Albeit a tasty Italian home kitchen - mozzarella, good bread, real ham sliced in front of you, aubergine, artichokes…your sandwich made how you want it with exactly what you want in it - made slowly and properly …with the bread properly seasoned with salt, pepper, lemon. It’s not shiny or corporate which makes it all the more special. And it’s cheaper than pret, which is a miracle.

Such a nice hidden gem in central London. So authentically Italian with very reasonable prices. We got the lasagna and the pastas of the day which they can do a plate of 50/50. Would highly recommend

Delicious and extremely reasonable Italian food. Not the fanciest but probably the best value spot in the whole of Fitzrovia.

A tasty sarnie for £4.20! Be prepared to queue (I arrived at 1pm and it took 30 minutes) but, assuming you have the time, it just builds anticipation. Everything is made fresh.

L

Great spot. About £4-5 for a sandwich made with proper ingredients that taste great! They are made fresh to order so I would recommend getting there just before Midday to miss the lunch rush. Super friendly and original feel inside.

S

Good value simple home made style traditional Italian pastas and sandwiches for £5-6. Bargain given location just off Oxford Street.

Lovely bowl of meat pasta. Great value. £5.40 for central London. Popular with Italian expats.

Stumbled on this nice little place on my way home. Quick stop for an espresso and cannolo. Good value for money.

Beautiful food and coffee. I'm not sure but it's what I'd imagine a legitimate Italian place is like in the heart of Italy. Would definitely recommend.

Not fast food, but authentic, delicious Italian deli sandwiches. Reasonably priced, still cheaper than a Prett sandwich while being miles better.

S

This is a very unique Italian café. At first sight things look a little bit messy but I guess it works and it's what gives this place its character. There is a good selection of panini with authentic products. The coffee was really good. The service was friendly. Highly recommended

B
Baptiste Provendier

Typical Italian deli. Hidden on the main street, you will everything youre looking for: fresh products, low prices and an ambiance anchored in time. Wasn't a fan of the bread but the meat and cheese were really good. Will come back to try the pasta next time but I recommend if you're in the neighborhood

A
Amelia Rudd

Great cheap Italian deli. Lots of sandwich options, pasta dishes, and salads. It's not the best of sandwich spots but for the price and quantity you get it's very, very good. The meat arancini was reheated, but it was creamy, hot, and melty, and the ragu pasta was delicious, so I would recommend getting that. The owner and waitress were so lovely, and it's a nice place to sit outside and enjoy. We got a big sandwich, pasta, arancini, and 2 coffees for £18 (almost unheard of in London).

Will come and try again, the sandwiches were made to order. I order the tuna salad roll, I love Italian canned tuna (weird I know), however the roll which was actually served as a sandwich, and the tuna was spread so thin and half filled, so that I was eating a lot of plain toasted bread, there was a very small amount of vegetables inside. The bread was really soft and nice. They also charged us a different amount for the tuna roll than advertised. My partner really enjoyed a cold cut sandwich, which was filled more properly and priced well. I would like to come back and give it another go, perhaps I ordered the wrong thing.

Its a genuine place, but it needs a bit of work on the space. As you come in you can feel a strong smell and it looks like it has been abandoned. The food it's good, the staff its nice and it's cheap for sure compared to London price. We drank 2 oat flat whites and had scrambled eggs and italian breakfast for 15£.

Italia Uno Caffee Italia Uno Caffee is a family-owned, home-cooked, and affordable restaurant that aims to provide a taste of Italian cuisine. While the prices may be budget-friendly, it is important to note that the restaurant falls short in terms of hygiene standards. One of the positive aspects of Italia Uno Caffee is its homely atmosphere. As a family-owned establishment, it exudes a warm and welcoming vibe, making you feel like you're dining at someone's home. The staff members are friendly and strive to create a cozy environment for their guests. However, the restaurant's hygiene standards leave much to be desired. Cleanliness and food safety are crucial aspects of any dining establishment, and unfortunately, Italia Uno Caffee falls short in this regard. The restaurant may not prioritize proper sanitation practices, which can have a negative impact on the overall dining experience. Additionally, while the food at Italia Uno Caffee is home-cooked, it may not meet the expectations of those seeking authentic Italian cuisine. Taste is subjective, but some visitors may find the flavors to be lacking in depth or authenticity compared to more traditional Italian restaurants. The quality of ingredients and culinary techniques used may not be on par with higher-end Italian establishments. It's important to consider the trade-off between affordability and hygiene when choosing a restaurant. While Italia Uno Caffee may offer inexpensive options, compromising on cleanliness and food safety can have potential health risks. In summary, Italia Uno Caffee is a family-owned, budget-friendly restaurant that aims to provide a taste of Italian cuisine. However, it falls short in terms of hygiene standards, which can be a significant concern for many diners. If you prioritize cleanliness and food safety, it may be best to explore other options for a more satisfying and reliable dining experience.
