Wow, we had a group of six, and all of us loved our food! We need to come back soon.

Food is amazing. A gem in bixby knolls. Must try the calamari with pickled vegetable tempura. So good! Also the beet salad with burrata was delicious. Omar our server offered us great recommendations and was very friendly. This was our first time at this restaurant but it definitely won't be our last.

This is a must visit spot in LB. The food and cocktails were only surpassed by the service. We had the whole grilled branzino, whiskey braised short rib, spaghetti carbonara, grilled ceasar salad, pistachio cheesecake, tiramisu, barrel aged manhattan, and the margaritas. We can’t wait to come back and order the rest of the menu. Bart was our server and he was everything you could ever hope for a server to be. Absolutely fantastic at his job. We’ll be back for sure.

The seafood platter dish and the Oaxacan tequila are two of my favorites.

Great place for brunch with friends. It wasn’t too busy on a Saturday. They didn’t have bottomless mimosas but they had $5 mimosas which were great. The food was quality and the service was 10/10.

Cozy little restaurant with excellent drinks and service. Food was good, we had Cesar salad, ship app and pasta. All homemade and delicious

Great new addition to Bixby Knolls. Fine dining in a casual environment and comfortable outdoor seating during covid-19. The pork chops were cooked perfectly, with the right amount of seasoning. And no one should ever say no to hand made pasta. Wood fire grilled fish has a great charred flavor and the fish isn't overcooked. Will definitely go back.

service, appetizer, entree, dessert, drinks and dessert where wonderful, it keeps getting better and better I have the oysters and the calamari that sauce is something else !! Then the Baja fish tacos! Omg!! It was a party in my mouth I was having a food orgasm!! and my spicy margarita and long island iced tea!! My and my bf tried different restaurants around Lb and Bixby knolls and we were skeptical about this place (because we experienced bad service and horrible food in others restaurants) and we left knowing that this was our new favorite restaurant, I work in the industry and this place have my mind blown! Just a Little pricey but it's worth it!

We wanted to try something new and found this great place. Cute inside, really good service and the food was great. I had the squid ink pasta special with seafood and it was fantastic. They have a good drink menu and I highly highly recommend the Tiramisu for desert. Sooo damn good.

Great place, awesome service, fantastic food. So SO SOOOO loud inside. Probably where we were sitting and also the piercingly high pitched voice of a guest sitting near us, but we couldn't have a conversation. I'd still go back... The steak and salmon were fantastic.

Came here randomly with some friends from out of town. This is the kind of place you make your neighborhood spot or that place you bring friends that won't disappoint. We each got different dishes short rib, chicken parm, and steak. We each loved our dishes found the portions and price well aligned. Will be back!

We got there shortly after 5pm opening and were the first ones. Great service. Delicious food. Overall excellent experience. I'm unaware if there is parking in back but the curb was full and we had to park down the street

Had to enjoy my food before taking a photo. Simply a delicious Carbonara. I kept eyeing the short rib pizza w/Bone Marrow, til next time!

Food was amazingly balanced in flavors. Service was on point and felt like a valued customer. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. For the first time in my life...I actually swallowed a whole bite of yams. Not only one bite but all of them...they were deliciously paired with perfectly grilled porkchop. My husband had the ink squid pasta....it was also yummy. I normally never give 5 🌟...but it is well deserved.

Came in with my fiance on a monday night date dinner. First time here, so started simple with the Dry Aged Burger and the Bolognese. Kitchen did really well, nailed the cook on the burger, pasta seasoning and texture was excellent. Will defintiely eat here again.

Modern interior yet cozy and warm. Service is excellent - attentive but not hovering or rushing you to make selections. Menus are well balanced with a variety of classic and new combinations of favorites and more importantly everything was delicious - great cocktails, yummy pastas, fish and juicy steaks + short ribs!!!

Second time at Wood & Salt Tavern, and they did not disappoint. Opted for the cesar salad to start, which was presented well and tasted fantastic, very fresh, and not too heavy. I went with the NY Strip for my entrée and my wife chose the Ribeye Steak Frites. Both of the dishes were cooked exactly how we ordered them and had a ton of flavor. Our waitress was super pleasent and this has become our go to new spot! Can't wait to try the brunch one of these weekends!!

All the food was amazing. When I didn't like the beer I ordered they replaced it for no cost. The pasta was spiced than expected, but was still delicious.

This place is really great! They have happy hour on Friday evenings which is pretty rare - 20% off apps (lots of yummy unique ones to choose from), beer, wine, and well cocktails. Portions are generous! Decor is cool and location is great too!

Had a great experience here the other night. Our server was fun and sweet. She guided us around the menu and made great recommendations. Everyone in our party raved about their dishes. This place isn't cheap but quality costs money. Will definitely return.

Date night dinner. Started with oysters which were slightly spicy but delicious. Their drink selection is great and I was eyeballing some cute looking cocktails at the tables around me. I got the mushroom paccheri...so good! However my husbands short rib bolognese was to die for 😋 It was a bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it for a date night or special occasion.

They just started brunch this weekend, and it was delcious! Super nice & attentive service. Good front patio. The espresso, banana bread was awesome. We also had eggs benedict, a W&S egg/bacon plate and an amazing fruit plate. Cucumber-spinach mimosas! Yum. Make a reservation. Go! $$$

This was a great place dinners were all great. Short ribs pulled apart with a fork and potatoes were mixed with a little horse radish gave those spuds get up and go! The only downer was the gin and tonic had an aged lime.

Our evening at Wood & Salt wasn’t just a meal; it was a culinary journey that redefined excellence. Bart, our server, set a high standard from the moment we were seated, effortlessly surpassing our already high expectations from a previous visit. This time, Bart, the Chef, and their dedicated team didn’t just meet the bar; they raised it to new heights, making our last dining experience seem modest in comparison. From the moment we walked in, everything was flawless. The service was impeccable, the presentation of each dish was a work of art, and the flavors were nothing short of sensational—truly, off the charts. If you find yourself within a 100 miles of Wood & Salt, consider this a sign to make the trip. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. You’re not just finding a meal; you’re discovering what might just become your new favorite Italian restaurant.

I have nothing to critique about this restaurant. I stand by my⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ratings on the Food, the Atmosphere, and the Service. Especially in the Service Dept., with the top notch food serving and waiting tables knowledge that our server, James, flawlessly provided to us, during our dinner reservation for three head counts, which was made for this past Friday 06/14/24 @6:00pm. This was actually our first time ever visiting Wood & Salt Tavern to dine in. We had the most wonderful dining experience. From the yummy tasting of the food items that we ordered, the dessert, the drinks, and of course, last but not least, having James as our server. James is simply the best.

We visit Wood & Salt Tavern regularly, and it’s always a solid choice. The food is consistently good, with a menu that offers a nice mix of quality and creativity. Prices are fair, especially given the standard of the dishes. Service is attentive without being overbearing, making for a comfortable dining experience. The cocktails are well-made, and we’ve always enjoyed what they have to offer. When we have guests or friends in town, Wood & Salt Tavern is our usual spot for a relaxed dinner or drinks. It’s a place that consistently delivers, whether for a casual night out or something a bit more special. Thank you.

I was in the bixby knolls area and found this place after leaving a different restaurant with a long wait time. I didn’t have any expectations when walking in but I left completely satisfied and pleasantly surprised. The caesar salad and Mexican coke combo was top tier! I will be returning back here just for the salad. My favorite part of this restaurant is the great service and ambience. Attentive servers and beautiful plants draped from the ceiling.

Great food in moderate portions and a bit pricey but VERY GOOD. Cool creative cocktails but not on the cheap. Smallish drinks for ~$16-18 but again very good. Expect 120 for 2 but excellent food

Had an off menu lamb burger. Cooked perfectly with a special sauce, one of the best burgers I have had at a restaurant. Wife had mushroom pasta she loved it, not to heavy really good flavor. Wonderful service, really good set up. Our server Bart was one of the best servers we have had in a while, nice to see good customer service still exists.

So after hearing about the Wood & Salt Tavern we decided to go check it out. It is located in the 90807 community of Long Beach which has several things to do. They present the restaurant very well, clean and inviting. They offer different dishes that make you want to order several. The salads are also delicious. We had a very pleasant visit and will be back to enjoy more of their scrumptious plates.

Very well prepared dishes. The shrimp in spicy sauce has nice flavors and shrimp cooked perfectly. Shared a pasta and a steak dish with my husband. Pasta carbonara was great and very light. Rib eye steak was tender and chimichurri had nice bite to it. Too full for dessert!

We were tried Wood & Salt Tavern, centrally located in Bixby Knolls. The service was great, the food superb and hubby said his Old Fashion was the best he’s had in quite some time. He had the chicken Parmesan with burrata and I had the fettuccine with clams. Both dishes with homemade fresh pasta. The portions were perfect for us and I saw that some dishes can be ordered in appetizer size. We had the calamari appetizer with fresh pesto and spicy marinara. Delicious! Highly recommend.

Wood & Salt Tavern in Long Beach was such a pleasant surprise — the kind of place that instantly puts you at ease. From the moment we walked in, Gabriel greeted us with the warmest welcome and let us choose any seat we liked. No pushiness, no upsell — just that perfect, low-key hospitality that makes you want to stay a while. I ordered the grilled Caesar with chicken breast, and it was spot on. The greens were crisp, the dressing had just the right bite, and the chicken was tender and flavorful with a beautiful char. My husband went for the paccheri with spicy mushroom sauce and added chicken — comforting, rich, and just enough heat to make it interesting without being overpowering. The vibe? Rustic, warm, and clean — think reclaimed wood, soft lighting, and little European touches that make you feel like you’ve wandered into a cozy tavern tucked into a stylish neighborhood in Paris or Barcelona. It’s elevated but never pretentious. Honestly, it’s the kind of place you want to keep to yourself… but also can’t stop telling people about.

This place was great! We have been trying places in the neighborhood and this has been the best so far. The service we received from Abraham was excellent. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. We had the oysters. I thought they were good but my wife said they were okay, so this might be preference. We ordered Brussels sprouts and everyone agreed they were delicious! Totally recommend to share. The table got the burger, filet, risotto, and the braised beef! All were outstanding. The filet though, was over done. We ordered it medium rare and it wasn’t. We sent it back but again it came out too done. The saving grace was that steak was absolutely seasoned and the flavor was good. Abraham noted the issue and tried his best to resolve but the steak was edible and good! We will totally go back!

Service was great and the food was even better. I spotted this place walking the neighborhood. So I looked up their menu. Best decision I made. The host was very welcoming and the waitress was great. I had the whiskey braised short rib. DELICIOUS!! The braised short rib is what peeked my interest and it didn't disappoint. The hostess mentioned they had really great mocktails. He told the truth! It was a perfect pairing with my meal. I will definitely be returning.

Came here for my Fiancée birthday dinner. We luckily were able to reserve a table an hour ahead on a Saturday night with no troubles. We sat outside on a nice evening, and the waiter was able to move the umbrella so we weren't blinded by the sun. The waiter was quick, knowledgeable, and had good suggestions. We had a calamari appetizer that was amazing and just melted in your mouth! All entrees were amazing, and I especially lived the carbonara pasta. The cocktails paired so well with the food and were flavorful. The waiter even gave us a birthday ice cream! Will be coming back again. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Stopped by on a Thursday night for dinner with some coworkers. We were all pleasantly surprised. From the friendly faces greeting us. To the inviting atmosphere. We had the house made bread, goat cheese brussel sprouts, and prawn's. All executed well above average! Adding that the Prawns were some of the best tasting shirmp I've had. Ribeye with the peppercorn sauce was exactly as it should. Savory until the end The potato croquettes were beautifully done fish n chip style. Even served with a creamy dill sauce for dipping. Now for dessert. The espresso served over vanilla ice cream 🍦 was a pleasant surprise. I didn't expect it to be that satisfying. The creaminess mixed with the tartness created a battle in my mouth. A ++ Ok. Now for the 2nd best thing I ate. The Cinnamon Roll is ridiculous. Nothing to say. Just save room and order it for the table . Or just for yourself. 100% Fat Man Approved 👍🏼👍🏼. Will definitely be coming back again.

Well first impression! PRETENTIOUS. Hostess looked at me like I was in the wrong place. Is it because I’m Hispanic? Hope not! Followed by the question: do you have a reservation? The place was empty! Lasagna was very good. The steak I ordered medium I got rare. If I’m paying $38, I would like to have it my way. However, it tasted good and the pairings were okay. Dessert was good. Excellent waitress (Natasha) and busboy.

Dinner at Wood & Salt Tavern was delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation as it does get full pretty quickly at night. We started off with the Blue Crab Croquettes and they were good - different. The crunchiness was perfect and the texture of the fish was just right. It is more on the gamy side so if you like to mask the taste of fish, this may not be the dish for you. As a group, we shared the Margarita Pizza which was really delicious. It had tomato confit on top which added a delicate flavor to the taste. We also shared the Pork Belly and side orders of fries and truffle fries. The truffle fries were divine. Excellent side order. For drinks, we had dirty martinis, old fashioneds and tap IPA. All were delicious and our sever was attentive enough to bring us another before we finished our glass. Service all around was amazing. Our server was communicative, friendly, and suggested great dishes to try. Parking: On the street or in the back lot.

Went for a friend’s bday dinner. It was a pretty busy Sunday evening so the staff were juggling multiple tables but were still attentive. Food was amazing!!! Loved the Cesar wedge salad, steak frites, calamari, bolognese. Tiramisu was super strong, but not sweet — personally not my taste but I know it’s authentic.

Great local restaurant very rich and generous portions. It was a pasta night for our first visit and we tried three dishes. Caccio e Pepe, Shortrib Bolognese and Pasta alla Carbonara. All three rich and flavorful but the clear winner was the short rib bolognese! Absolutely delicious and perfect portion! We started the experience with fried stuffed olives which were a nice start to the meal. We sat in the outdoor front patio and felt very comfortable with their beautiful fresh green decor. We will try them again. P. S. We had dessert! The chocolate mousse on a rice crispy is inspired! The tiramisu was uplifting 😜

I had the branzino & cabbage and it was so good! My partner’s ribeye was welldone when they asked for medium, so that was a little disappointing. Wine and beer is good but the cocktails we ordered were kinda meh. Service was really great!

Incredibly understaffed, one server for the whole place while the gym rat, too pretty to work bartender admired his biceps and polished the same glasses. Food is fine, typical for what you’d expect.

Gnocchi was very doughy not fluffy or airy like it should be. Corn croquettes were disappointing as well, nothing croquet about them. The Fried olive were surprisingly good. Most likely will not be returning. Very pricey and can get my money's worth elsewhere.

Great interior space with the right kind of energy. Unfortunately food was a bit bland, especially when you consider the prices. Will give it another go at some point but it’s no priority.

We went to dinner Saturday at 5. There were only a few tables seated and most had reservation signs on them. We asked if we could be seated and were told they were reserved for diners at 7 - we pointed out it was only 5 so they were willing to seat us. After asking about appetizers we took the wait staff's recommendation on the bread and were disappointed. It was barely edible. It was super hard and difficult to bite into and chew. Our dinners were fine and while the service wasnt horrible, it wasn't great. I asked for salad dressing on the side when I ordered and waited for it after my salad was delivered but eventually had to ask for it bc no one checked on us. It was pretty expensive for a so-so experience. Won't return.

For me this place was very middle of the road the calamari was just not good and extremely chewy but my entree dish it wasn't bad it's not the best place but it's not bad for downtown California heights cool restaurant amazing way staff was just middle of the road

Cauliflower appetizer was awesome. Multiple levels of flavors and textures. Short rib pasta and mushroom pasta lacks flavor and are one note dishes. Peach and burrata cheese salad had unripe hard peaches. Dessert donuts were dense and raw inside. Dishes have potential to be amazing, but I hear they have a new chef which may be the problem. Restaurant needs to reevaluate their dishes and make sure they are flavorful and cooked appropriately. Would like to return in a few months to see if there are any improvements. 3 stars for potential and atmosphere, otherwise 2 stars.

Got the ribeye and it was chewy and over tenderize. The patotoes were delicious and customer service was great but for $39 for the steak I have had way better.

The lasagna was good. Floor is oddly slippery, you might want to fix this issue. Service was slow and not attentive.

The food was stellar. The short rib is so tender it melts in your mouth. Their esquite pasta was delicious and the Housemade bread was crispy and full of flavor. The quality of the food was great. You can tell everything is made to order. The only gripe I have is the service and the servers not respecting personal space. Outside there’s a sign that says “please wait to be seated” so naturally I waited to be seated. A few minutes go by and no one comes out to seat us, but we can clearly see the bartender at the end of the room on his phone. Since nobody came out we walked in and the bartender put his phone down and showed us to our table. When we sat at our table our server was very kind and attentive but when we closed out the check he grabbed my girlfriends shoulder as he bid us farewell. It was not malicious nor was it received in that way, but it’s a good practice to keep one’s hands to themselves.

Over priced and under delivered. Hipster spot for lots of vegan plates. Basic beers with over priced "local brews". Had the buger to be cooked medium/rare. Came almost well done. Wife had the lasagna... not sure why they call it that. Sauce covered up the bad taste. Usually give places a second try. We'll see...

I sent a formal email over one month ago and left a voicemail to Wood & Salt Tavern but have yet to receive a response. This was my review about the inconsistencies in food quality within five days!!! While I try to support smaller restaurants, a lack of response from the manager and/owner makes me wonder, why should I support your business??? To whom it may concern: I first visited your restaurant on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 6PM. I was so impressed with the food, I decided to bring my husband and another good friend to your restaurant on Wednesday, May 12th at 7:30PM…only to be quite disappointed and embarrassed having my guests subjected to the mediocrity of your food. The Fried Fresh Calamari lacked flavour in the coating and the pickled vegetables did not ferment in the pickling juice long enough to achieve its full acidity. The Charred Corn Croquetas did not have any charred corn flavour nor smokiness. The Red & Golden Beet Salad did not quite have the kick of the vinaigrette to marry the entire salad together. The only new dish ordered was the Squid Ink Spaghetti which had very little rock shrimp and the the protein was a tad overcooked. The Roasted Barramundi Filet was an extreme disappointment! The fish was a tad fishy and the skin was not crispy. The crispy potatoes was boiled and had absolutely no flavor at all. The romesco sauce and vinaigrette lacked adequate seasoning. Due to the lacklustre dinner, I did not order dessert. The Tiramisu that I ordered the first time was underwhelming and none of the flavour meld together because it was not sitting in the refrigerator overnight to achieve a full marriage of flavour. It was extremely sweet with very little cocoa flavour and the expresso was not evident. Is there a different cook from both days? Also, Friday was extremely busy and Wednesday only had 1/3 the amount of customers. Therefore, food should be better and not worse. As a result, I am nervous to entertain guests or revisit your restaurant.

Have been going there since it opened during the pandemic. The new menu is a big disappointment both in quality and value. Had the shrimp in risotto. Tasty but $28 for 3 shrimp just doesn't make it. $14 for two tiny heads of lettuce on the gem salad? C'mon. The seabass was pretty good but initially came out underdone. Had to send it back. Took 15 minutes to get it back and that only after walking over to the bar and asking what happened to the food. Bolognese somewhat downhill from the previous offering. Used to be a nice lump of bolognese sauce over a bed of spaghettini. Now comes pre-tossed over rigatoni. The eggplant lasagne had good flavors but presentation was missing. Looked like two tortillas sandwiched with some motley grey filling. Strawberry tart was good but at $14 is significantly higher than what the downtown restaurants, Kings or L'opera would charge. All in all, what was a restaurant with outstanding food and great value has dropped down to average and just too expensive for a neighborhood eatery. Ain't going back until things change.

My fiancé and I have dined here before and had excellent, well-seasoned pasta. So I chose to come here for my birthday dinner. Our cocktails and beet & watermelon salad were good. However, the grilled bread we paid extra for was quite burnt. We ordered the bolognese pasta and farmers market primavera pasta. But for some reason both of them tasted SWEET. We can deal with under salted food, but they were noticeably sweet. Both of us agreed on this discovery. We told the server and she was very kind to have the kitchen remake us the two pastas, but sadly the news ones had the same problem. I think the kitchen swapped their sugar and salt… it was bizarre and the server agreed these dishes are not supposed to be sweet. She offered to comp the dishes but we decided to just take the rest to go and maybe we can rework it at home. At the same time, the table next to us sent back their food cuz the inside of their appetizer was cold. So I think something was off with the kitchen tonight. It was a disappointing birthday dinner, I couldn’t even order dessert because my entree was already sweet…I won’t be going back!

I went with my family to this restaurant yesterday October 17, 2025 Arron’s 1730 (5:30 pm) and there was more than 5 tables empty inside and for some reason the young lady on the front door asked if we have appointment, I told her no, and I asked if they accept walk in? She ask if it’s ok to sit outside?! As it’s fully booked inside, just trying to confirm with the manager/owner if the place was actually fully booked?, we ended up going to a different restaurant and they seemed more welcoming.

Very subpar. Ordered Caesar salad with added salmon for an additional $10. Salmon was very thin and severally overcooked, dry. Paid $3 to add avocado to the Cobb salad and it was barley 1/4 of an avocado. The pasta with foraged mushrooms was significantly undercooked. Not impressed. From the other highly rated reviews, perhaps we just ordered the wrong dishes.

This was our group’s first time at wood and salt tavern, we ordered a board of cheese, chute board of meat too and the three bruschetta bread app (tomatoes, pear, mushroom) the boards were the smallest portions I’d seen and were just ok. The bread was a bit sloppily put together, pear wasn’t ripen. Main courses surf and turf, Porter house and tomahawk steaks, with the seafood pasta. Not one of our steaks was cooked right…Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with the cook….all way underdone. The tomahawk was sent back twice…. And just got more burnt on the outside…. And still raw and cold in the middle (really cold). They forgot to season the steaks too, no flavor. There was a sauce on the plate that was like an A1 sauce and maybe worchestor. Pasta dish was bland and had very little seafood. $300 for a party of 4…..I hope no one has the same experience we had. S

The decor of this restaurant is somewhere nice and different than other restaurants around here. Food on the menu are expensive for this area. I ordered the calamari for starter while still deciding. It came out fast which is good. Howere, the potion of calamari is quite small. It's about 3 regular lemon slices. There is quite a lot of breading. At that point, I just decided to leave. I almost always ordered calamar it it's on the menu. The calamari here isn't the worst but certainly at the 2 of 5 points because of potion, exceesive breading, freshness, and it's price.

Sadly i couldnt enjoy my Valentines day dinner because last minute they sent us an email saying to come at 8:45 which was reasonable. 5 minutes later we receive a text saying come at 9:30 when our reservations were at 8:30! I understand the holiday but getting a text saying to come at 9:30 as we are heading out isnt ok. We made these reservations 2 weeks in advance and when i called for more information all i was told were people were eating longer than usual and to come on a less busy day? We had multiple plans that and having diner pushed backed to 9:30 cause this a very lackluster Valentines. Now we have to grab a pizza to be able to make our other plans.

Was excited to visit this place but had a very disappointing dinner. The drinks were ok but the food left a lot to be desired. The prices made it that much worse. Waitress presented us with a special of a steak for $32 and upon delivery of the check we were charged $62(!) for each of them! She apologized for confusing the price but we had to pay it. Worst of all - the steak was completely charred on the outside and tasted like charcoal. The manager said this is normal as it is “fire grilled”. Poor customer service from the mgmt. wouldn’t recommend.

We were excited to try this place for Happy Hour, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. While we were seated immediately, that was the extent of the service we received. We waited for about 15-20 minutes without even being greeted by a server. It wasn't even a busy time as there was plenty of room in the restaurant. In fact, there was an older gentleman working near the oyster bar who seemed more focused on chatting with a nearby couple than acknowledging us. Every time he passed by our table, he ignored us entirely, despite being just a few feet away. We even watched him converse with another server, still without offering any attention to us. We had planned to return the next day for brunch, but given the lack of service, we decided to reschedule for dinner in hopes that things might improve. However, the next morning, we had what felt like a Pretty Woman moment. Remember the scene where Julia Roberts' character is judged and ignored by shop staffed based on her appearance? That's how we felt, with a similar disregard, and decided to cancel our dinner reservation altogether. If a restaurant can't provide decent service during a slow time, we couldn't imagine how chaotic it would be during a busier period. In the end, we probably won't give this place another chance. There are plenty of other places nearby with better service. I'd suggest looking elsewhere (Bistro Moulin) if you want a more welcoming and attentive experience.

I visited Wood & Salt Tavern for the third and final time last night. I work in the area and have enjoyed trying the local restaurants after work. I thought Wood & Salt would become a regular part of our rotation. The vibe is cool, but that is where it ends for me. On the first visit, waiter #1 came off as snotty but knowledgeable. I requested the only dish I wanted to try without mushrooms and almonds. I was met with resistance. I was told the chef didn't like to make changes. But, after too much discussion about removing two components from a pasta dish, the dish was made with my requests. On my second visit, I again requested the same dish with no almonds or mushrooms (as it was delicious the first time). Waiter #2 was a different gentleman and did not indicate this was an issue, and the dish was made with my requests. Last night, we had a girl's dinner there. We again had waiter #1, whose demeanor wasn't as snotty as during our first visit. I again requested the same pasta dish with no almonds or mushrooms. I asked him to add cherry tomatoes, as the two appetizers had tomatoes, and I thought they would taste good in the dish. He informed me the sauce was already tomato-based, but I asked him to add tomatoes anyway. He breathed heavily and added my request. He then proceeded to ask me if I was requesting no mushrooms or almonds because of an allergy issue (I knew where this was going). I stated, “No, I am just a picky vegetarian.” Five minutes later, he returned to the table and stated, "The chef believes the almonds and mushrooms are part of the dish and won't make the dish without those ingredients." He asked if I wanted to order something else off the menu, and my response was a hard "NO." Maybe the chef might have made the dish with my requests if I had said I was allergic to mushrooms and almonds. But I didn't want to be dishonest. I was taken aback because this isn't The French Laundry or a Michelin-star restaurant. I firmly believe that if I am paying for a meal, it should be made to my liking. I wasn't asking the chef to change the actual ingredients of the sauce; I didn't want mushrooms or almonds in my pasta. At that point, I decided not to return and would no longer recommend the restaurant to friends and family. I sat with my girls, who finished their meals, which I might add…they did enjoy.

Disappointing Experience at Wood and Salt Tavern My family and I recently had a dreadful dining experience at Wood and Salt Tavern. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill. Our waiter, Bart, initially seemed friendly, but his demeanor soured as soon as we requested separate checks. To add insult to injury, it took an excruciatingly long time for our orders to arrive. While other patrons who arrived after us were promptly served, we watched as hour after hour passed with no sign of our food. When we brought this to the attention of the manager—a long-haired man with glasses, whose name eluded us—he initially appeared apologetic. However, his empathy quickly dissipated as they continued to drag their feet in the kitchen. When our meals finally did arrive, they were mediocre at best, hardly justifying the exorbitant prices. Waiting over an hour for basic dishes like French toast, eggs, and bacon is simply unacceptable. Despite our patience, we were denied any form of compensation or discount. The manager callously brushed off our concerns, insisting that since we finished our food, we were undeserving of any concession, despite the clear discrepancy in service compared to other diners. In an era where food service professionals are compensated well, one would expect a higher standard of service. Sadly, Wood and Salt Tavern failed to meet even the most basic expectations. I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone. The abysmal service provided by both Bart and the manager reflects poorly on the restaurant as a whole. They prioritized other patrons over us, leaving a sour taste in our mouths long after the last bite.

Excellent presentation but the flavor left a lot to be desired. No cocktail sauce is offered or available with the oysters. The Hanger steak was way over cooked and lacked flavor. For the prices they're charging here this is unacceptable.

My main complaint is the service. This restaurant just isn’t welcoming at all. It honestly felt like they didn’t even want to serve us. Even my 8 year old son suggested we go somewhere else, but I stayed because a friend had recommended it. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. Definitely not good enough for me to come back. On the positive side, the place was clean and had a nice atmosphere. But in the end, service is everything. If you don’t feel welcome, trust me, you won’t enjoy the food.

This used to be our go to place for a nice local dinner. That changed a few months ago when they changed their head chef. The calamari appetizer used to be amazing. Lightly breaded and delicious. Now it's a deep fried monstrosity. You'll basically be eating cardboard that has been over fried and is too salty. There is no redeeming quality. It went from the best—to the worst. We were willing to look past some of this and give the new chef some time to find their footing. But during our last visit I got a terrible case of food poisoning. I've never been knocked out this badly before by food. It's day two and I'm only now starting to digest food. The food poisoning hit my wife too, but not as bad. We think it was the sauce on the bread appetizer since I ate more of it, but it honestly could have been anything. The food used to be A+, now their best meals are just "ok." I'm really sad that this happened to one of our favorite spots. We used to be regulars. Now we'll just avoid it entirely.

Never returning!!! Service: not attentive Food: 1 out of 10 A couple friends recommended this place. They said the food, the drinks and the atmosphere were great. My family and I didn’t think so. I made a reservation through Resy for my family of 3. We have a 5 year old daughter. But they couldn’t give us a good table. They prioritized all the other reservations. We were sat at the high bar tables. We said ok, fine. We are easy going people, didn’t make fuss about it. The server was super busy sitting other people. Not very attentive. The food took forever to come. Ok, fine they are busy for a Monday night. No fuss! We were still excited about the food at that point only to be super disappointed. And that was the last drop. We ordered Ribeye , Half chicken and butter pasta for my daughter. Ribeye was a tiny, overcooked and dry piece of meat. For $40. Come on! Ok we asked for well done. But that was burnt! The chicken sauce was super greasy, and literally hurt my stomach once we got home. The mushroom on the side tasted terrible and I am a big mushroom fan. My daughter’s pasta was a joke. It was the cheapest tasting pasta I have ever tasted. She said she didn’t want it. And she barely touched it. We were going to ask the server to take it back and bring something else. He didn’t come around much. So we gave up. I had to get my daughter ice cream to make it up to her. We left hungry and came home, ate snacks. We’ve just wasted over $100 for a lousy , overpriced, overhyped food.
