Yang Chow 2.0 is a popular spot known for its fresh, quickly served American Chinese food. The Slippery Shrimp is a standout dish, with many comparing it favorably to Panda Express. Some find the food overpriced or inconsistent, with a few complaints about quality issues.

Really, really, good Chinese food authentic and high quality in my opinion. They serve big portions but great for left overs if can't finish. Good customer service. It's always a pleasant experience coming here. It's a must try!
Soooooooo....good! I really liked the slippery shrimp bowl! It was sweet, sour, crunchy and filling. Good price for $13. Also tried the spring roll. It was a little greasy, but still crunchy and satisfying. Don't bring a large group with expectations of dining in because the space is small. Overall, great customer service and good food for such a limited menu. I will definately come back for more real soon!
I'm a very long time fan of the full Yang Chow restaurants in Chinatown and Pasadena, and in particular their Slippery Shrimp. This location is not a full service restaurant, and is essentially more of a take out option almost exclusively, but their Slippery Shrimp is every bit as delicious as you'll find at the full locations, and that's really all that matters to me. I live down in Orange County, so this location is much closer to me than the other ones, but the Slippery Shrimp is so good it's worth making the hour long round trip for me to get some. I can't speak to the quality of any other dish here, but it's Yang Chow, so if you're not ordering the Slippery Shrimp then you're just doing it wrong.
The slippery shrimp were amazing and the shrimp fried rice was really fresh and not greasy at all. The milk tea was perfect and not too sweet as well. Everyone there was really friendly and helpful too. Looking forward to coming back again soon!
Just tried Yang Chow 2.0 and it really hit the spot. We had Sweet and Sour Chicken and Szechuan Beef, both delicious. The chicken was tender white meat. The beef was crispy and tender, not over-cooked or crispy fat, and had a delightful flavor that included a hint of ginger. The broccoli and rice were perfectly cooked and there it is, a very satisfying lunch. We will return soon to try their signature Slippery Shrimp!
The slippery shrimp is so delicious!!! Chicken fried rice was good too. The green beans (a la carte) were perfectly cooked and a great addition for the meal to feel less fried. Our go to Chinese!!!!
Very excited about this place landing in Long Beach. Well known for their Slippery Shrimp and Szechuan Beef, among other classics, this place is exceptional. Grab a beer at Steady, then grab some of the best Chinese food in Long Beach. See Benny, one of the owners, he'll take great care of you. Note: opening to public this Friday 3/1. You'll unfortunately need to wait two days.
Great Food. I order Egg Foo Young. A Label was attached to my bag at the time of delivery that stated, we don't make Egg Foo Young at this location but we will make it for you with this order. I thought was a very AWESOME thing for them to do. Yang Chow should reconsider the Egg Foo Young. It was the BEST DISH. I hope they start making it, so others could try
Ate at the Chinatown location 3 years ago on a visit to California from North Carolina. Loved it so much that even during this coronavirus pandemic, I ordered from the Long Beach location and it was just as good! Love the service and the consistency in the quality of food. I'll be back again, hopefully it won't take 3 years to visit again.
Simple menu with tasteful quality and good seating in or outside. My slippery shrimp bowl was very good and I was crazy enough to pair it with a boba milk tea. There are a la carte options for the items that are good for small groups/parties with great value.
The food is excellent. The prices totally reasonable for a ton of food. BUT - go here for the unparalleled customer service. Tomio was probably the nicest and most helpful person we’ve encountered in a dining experience, as were all the others with whom we had contact. We look forward to many more meals from Yang Chow 2.0! 🦐 🍚 🍵 Side note - the breading is cornmeal and gluten free!
The customer service is A1 and the food is so yummy. I ordered the beef and broccoli, Yang's fried rice, and 2pc spring roll. Everything was hot, fresh and flavorful. It was my first time, I will be coming back
I love the food here. It is well worth a stop, but the parking isn't great. And it isn't a restaurant where there are seats. I believe there are four tables and a couple outside. The slippery shrimp is so yummy. I either get a bowl with it or a la cart.
Great food and service. This is a new location with Chinatown's favorite menue (limielted). Slippery Shrimp by far is what everyone is buzzing about. They offer a variety of teas with boba being an add on. Outstanding service. The manager carried everyone's food over to the brewery nearby.
By far my favorite Chinese food in the Long Beach and surrounding areas. The slippery shrimp are amazing and one of my go to orders despite my normal favs being beef and chicken dishes.
Drive by this place every night on my way home. Stopped tonight because raining and decided to give it a try. They make their food to order, it's not like Panda on warming tables. More $ but worth it and their dishes are authentic. They recently had a break in and their pay system/computer was stolen, so only accepting cash or online orders. I happened to have cash, I am so happy to support a small quality business. Try it if you are looking for good Chinese takeout.
GREAT EXPERIENCE & FRESH FOOD! I had an opportunity this past week to purchase take-out from Yang Chow 2.0, which was actually a recommendation from a friend. This restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and the menu selection is good. I enjoyed their house fried rice which was delicious. I do feel they could have added more of the meats, but otherwise the rice was fresh and tasty. In addition, I also purchased their wings which had the right amount of flavor and spice added. I would definitely come back to enjoy a meal at Yang Chow 2.0
I gotta say it's good!. Come try for yourself. The indoor seating is limited but they do have a patio where tables and seats would be if it were dry outside. It's my first time here and I very much enjoyed the slippery shrimp. I also had a milk boba and it was good. They are still adding the last touches to the restaurant but the quality of the food is 👌🔥. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the dishes. A bit pricy but worth it.
Very good American Chinese restaurant. This the same Yang Chow in Chinatown and Pasadena but with a slimmer menu. They are known for the slippery shrimp dish, but the Szechuan beef is Amazing too. very crispy and tender with nice gingery flavor. The spring rolls are very crispy and highly recommended. The bowl sides are going to be rice and Broccoli. Important: expect a line, and if they do not answer your phone call is because they are very busy!
YAY!! We now have a second GREAT Chinese place in Long Beach! Granted it’s a small-ish menu (because they’re in a small space and wouldn’t have the ability to store additional ingredients), but what they have is TASTY!! I have enjoyed the original Yang Chow in LA’s Chinatown for over 15 years and now we have a petite version here in Long Beach. Their Slippery Shrimp is the first reason to go. I have always found it difficult to explain to people but as the manager Benny said, it’s sweet, sour, a wee bit spicy, garlicky, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. And I would add slightly sticky from the amazingly delicious sauce. They’re famous for it. But eat it hot! Don’t drive all the way home with it, allowing it to cool down. And don’t get the Slippery Chicken; get the Shrimp. You’ll be happy you did. And be sure to get the larger portion. You’ll want the leftovers. A few cold pieces as a midnight snack really hit the spot. We also tried the Szechuan Chicken Bowl, which was so very good: crunchy, great sauce, fresh broccoli, and rice. Benny suggested getting the Szechuan Beef “done crispy” next time. He says it’s amazing. And I had the Milk Tea (Black tea). Yum. Benny has terrific customer service skills. It’s a small space with a small parking lot, so it’s easier to go during off-times. Once they open for lunch, they’re open all day. You can also get takeout and bring it next door to Steady Brewing’s Tap Room and enjoy their IPAs, Porters, and more. And be sure to pick up dessert from Creative Cakery, a couple doors down, in this nicely rehabbed small strip mall on Clark, near Spring. Their mini Bundt cakes, Lemon bars, Cherry bars, and PB & Chocolate bars (really, ALL of their bars) are scrumptious!
Very good , the slippery shrimp was the best , I'll never go to panda Express again

We are HUGE Yang Chow fans and were super excited that they opened a Long Beach location so close to our house. Now we don’t have to drive to Chinatown anymore. You can’t go wrong ordering anything from here, it’s all delicious! But, our regular order is Slippery Shrimp, green beans, Yang Chow fried rice, and beef & broccoli. The Slippery Shrimp is really the star of the show. I’m sure the name is lost in translation because it doesn’t sound at all like its name. It is crunchy, sweet, sour, & spicy. This is the dish that the fast food place with the Panda’s walnut shrimp wants to be when it grows up. There is a reason why Yang Chow is so many people’s favorite Chinese Food restaurant, it truly is the best. And the Long Beach location allows you to order their most popular dishes and 10 minutes later be eating. This location isn’t big, so the dining area is small and not really great. But, this is the place to get the best food to-go and fast! You have to try it!
Yang Chow is one of my favorite places to eat. I didn't take any photos but the Shrimp fried Rice,Chicken fried rice and the Spring rolls are the best. They have other delicious items on the menu as well. This location is much smaller than the Yang Chow in downtown Los Angeles. The customer service is very good. My family and I are there for Mothers day and it seated nine of us comfortably. It's small and intimate but you can have your meal there they are pretty quick with the order so you don't have to wait long to enjoy your meal. If you are in Long Beach check them out or Downtown LA. Decent parking as well.
This place is great, food comes out fresh and hot with very quick service. My takeout order was ready very quickly. So happy to have Yang Chow and their slippery shrimp closer to home.
Yang Chow 2.0 is our go to place for Chinese food. It's extremely good. My go to is the Kung Pao chicken, but everything there is good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING THEIR CHILI OIL. It's the best chili oil around, and you can order a big tub if you use chili crisp or chili oil for other things at home. It's good on everything.

The food was.very good Limited menu than some of my favorites from downtown. Four stars due to frustration trying to find menu. Told a photo was on Yelp. Ok but no mention of specials. Seems even when I spoke with counter person and then maybe one of the owners no one mentioned 2 noodle dishes. Would have liked one of the noodle dishes and ditch the fried rice. So lack of communication sucks
Limited menu. Famous for slippery shrimp. We had that and beef fried rice. Both were good, notable for not being greasy. A bit on the expensive side for what you get. Parking lot is small and shared with several other businesses, not easy to find a spot
My favorite Slippery Shrimp is local for me now. It's not as good as downtown but very close. Great owner and help. Their other menu items are outstanding. Highly recommend you to try this restaurant. Only negative is parking. It's not easy
I have to say I absolutely love the Yang Chow restaurant in L.A.'s Chinatown (and Pasadena). Yang Chow 2.0 is a small fast food/take-out version that is very good but doesn't quite meet the quality of the restaurant 's food. I'm happy though that Yang Chow has established this little outpost in Long Beach! One suggestion I'd like to make is to offer combination plates or bowls so I don't have to choose between my two favorite dishes: slippery shrimp and kung pao!
Such good food. I ordered enough for a few meals because I don't live in the area. You must try the slippery shrimp (unless you can't eat or don't enjoy shellfish)! So good!
It was my first time at Yang Chow 2.0 in Long Beach and I was hungry. I opted to order the beef & broccoli with brown rice. Figured I would get my meat & veggies. It was quite good. The restaurant is clean and the food was hot. Would definitely go back when in that part of Long Beach. Keep up the great work.

The recipe for the kung pao chicken has definitely changed. The flavor is bland has no taste The only save was the adding thechili oil. The and quality is not the same.
Heard about this place on social media and coming from San Diego, I tried this on my way to LA. I ordered the A LA Carte (28 oz) of Slippery Shrimp with a Milk Tea Boba for me and Mango Oolong Tea for Mother. The food was solid but definitely a bit overpriced. I liked the flavor of the shrimp and the crispiness was solid. Note that the a la carte does not come with rice or noodles, this is extra.

Food was average this time around. Don't know what happened to the chef. I've there several times previously and the food was much better and tastier. I'd the fried rice combination and Szechuan chicken. Taste was ordinary at most for the price $$. I was expecting a treat. Should gone somewhere else.

I ordered lo mein, shrimp fried rice, and beef and broccoli. The only good thing was the beef and broccoli. The lo mein noodles were not fully cooked and had no flavor. The shrimp fried rice had no flavor either and the shrimp seemed borderline barely cooked. I should’ve known when my food was ready in like 5 mins that it wasn’t gonna be good.
I have visit the location In Los Angeles many times and I love that place. So when i saw Yang Chow in Long Beach I was excited. I ordered my favourite slippery shrimp and some noodles. I was so disappointed when I got home because what I got was slippery chicken, that I did not enjoy. I looked at my receipt and clearly it shows that I paid for slippery shrimps. I have been calling them with no answer. Will I go back? NO!!
Been wanting to try this place for a while. I wanted to love it, but I'm not sure I'll be back. Service was good. Food was a disappointment. Very stingy on the protein. The chicken lo mein had mostly noodles and just a few pieces of chicken. Too salty. The kung pao chicken was about 50% green onion. I actually thought they had a different style of making it and didn't include peanuts, but then I did find two or three peanuts in the dish. Finally, it's just too pricey for what you get. I don't plan on going back. I really want it to love it.
I ordered the house special lo mein for like $14 at 6pm on a friday. It was lacking in flavors but tasted extremely salty. An overbearing amount of salt was almost all I tasted. The other taste that stood out to me was the taste of reheated meat that was cooked earlier in the day. You know that left over meat from the fridge taste? Yea you can just come here for that if you don't have any old leftover meat of your own laying around. It wasn't good. No thank you.
Absolutely horrible quality, I read the reviews and thought this was going to be a great new spot, I went 30 min before close and I think I got all the left-overs. There was a horrible taste to the beef and the chow main was very tough and chewy. The chicken was decent but not for the price.
I came here because I was staying at a hotel down the street just for one night. I figured it had good reviews and lots of them so may as well give it a try. I’m pretty unimpressed with the quality of the food. It’s fine in a pinch, but definitely nothing to rave about.

I had a craving for Chinese food so I went here considering the reviews were decent. I ordered shrimp low mein. What a mistake and a waste of $16!! The noodles appeared to be fried in soy sauce. They were dark and salty and semi hard like they should been boiled first to make them soft prior to frying. The shrimp was salty also. Maybe because everything was made with soy sauce, I'm assuming 🤔.
While the service was easy and quick, received my food in less than 5 minutes. The szechuan beef bowl I ordered was very disappointing. The glaze they put on the beef basically tastes the same as what you would find on orange chicken. The rice was wet and soggy, seemed like they cooked it with too much water, and the broccoli was obviously undercooked. $15 spent not well.

Disgusting!!!! The pan fried noodles were so stale. Sauce was flavorful if u can get past the fact that it’s all fat and oil. The egg rolls were good. I HATE HATE HATE the sweet and sour soup DISGUSTING!!!! I never ever write a bad review unless the restaurant deems it. And this overly exceded my standard of ‘’mad because I wasted money on nasty food’.
This place was a hard disappointment. It took them 30 minutes past when they said to complete our order. This wouldn't have been such a problem if half the order hadn't already been sitting in the bag for 30 minutes before we actually got our food. The chicken was dry and rubbery and had sat for so long that the breading was just mush. For what we paid I expected so much more than the quality we received. We could have gotten the same quality of meals for half the price at panda expense and I hate that place. Maybe things will get better with version 3.0
I’ve enjoyed coming here in the past but this food was horrible. The onions were completely raw, the noodles chewy and covered in a salty stew of soy sauce with no flavor or nuance. The beef was basically jerky and everything tasted bland and somehow salty at the same time. What happened?
What. A. Letdown. I had such high hopes for this place. We decided to splurge for NYE. This place was pricey, but we wanted to treat ourselves. Placed our order for 1 veggie fried rice, 1 slippery chicken, 1 szechwan beef, 2 spring rolls. We were told 25 minutes. When I arrived 25 minutes later, she looks at my bag, and I was told 10 more minutes. Okay, no problem. NYE...they look busy. So I pay for the order ($50.72) and go wait in the car for a bit. 10 minutes later, I return and she checks the ticket on my bag, and clearly they are still waiting on something. She tells me 5 more minutes. I stand back and wait...and watch...and wait...as dish after dish comes out of that kitchen. As order after order walks out the door. No further acknowledgement of my presence until I finally spoke up around the 1hr mark. I asked (exasperated) what we were waiting on. She said it was "almost ready" and I explained I was told 5 minutes 15 minutes prior, and 10 minutes 30 minutes ago. I express my concern that most of my order has been sitting on a counter in a bag for 30-40 minutes at this point. At this point the staff up front scattered, one of them running to the back, and telling the cook, "we need szechwan beef now! Angry customer"...which is *exactly* what I want a food service professional to be thinking about when he prepares my food. I'm seriously entertaining the idea of requesting a refund at this point, but know that my order is moments away from completion, and felt bad waving them off so close to the finish. Once the food finally found its way into my hands, I took it back to the car to see what might be salvaged. My fears were affirmed, however when I found lukewarm, soggy chicken (I suppose living up to the Slippery Chicken moniker in a literal sense), but also chewy, dry chicken. My wife could not have been more disappointed. The spring rolls were cool and greasy. My beef was freshly fried, and the coating crispy, but seemingly (and surprisingly) overcooked and quite chewy as well. Like fried jerky, almost. The "fried rice" smacked of "rice tossed with veggies" and was uninspired. Not a $9 dish. The szechwan beef was supposed to be a 28oz serving, but the tray was half packed with steamed broccoli, and the portion seemed like the one you'd expect on top of one of the smaller, cheaper rice bowls. On the whole, a very expensive, disappointing mistake. I wanted to love it so much, but I cannot recommend this place at all.
Ordered Beef pan fried noodles and schezuan beef for lunch. Beef tasted like spoiled beef and it was so oily. Tried to eat it but had to spit it out. Schezuan Beef was hard and dry. Never going back.

Save your time and go to Panda Express. Kung Pao Chicken had more peanuts than chicken. Plan flavor. I will never eat here again.
Kung Pao chicken bowl. They should call it Kung Pao green onion bowl. First five bites all could taste was green onion. I got a plate separated everything rice green onion peanuts and chicken. green onion 60% and the chicken was about 30% and peanuts 10%. Chicken was so small peanuts were bigger than the chicken they should call it Kung Pao GREEN ONION bowl.green onions and rice cost pennies. What they charge they are making big money. Don't waste your money.
Ordered several plates for a party, they were horrible. It was so embarrassing and a waste of over $100. Don’t waste your money honestly.
