SO GOOD! Just moved to this area and have been trying to find a sushi spot. This was my first place to try and so far I don’t wanna go anywhere else. We ate there, instead of to go. She brought over eel sauce, spicy mayo, wasabi/ginger, salt and Siracha without even asking which was exceptional!! Food is really good & the place is SUPER clean. Will be coming back for sure! I also liked how they had a free water thing with cups

The sushi was so tasty, and they added a great amount of salmon and avocado. The rice was soft, the perfect consistency honestly. The bulgogi plate had ALOT of beef in it, and the carrots & veggies complimented the plate so well. i loved this place and the person who took my order was such nice man. Support this business!

Worth a visit - I recommend! Bento’s chicken and beef teriyaki are great. 3 Roll [special] for $33 is fairly priced and good quality. I would definitely consider returning. The restaurant has a good variety of offerings. Notice me, Mr Kim! haha

I love this place. I have been coming here since I moved to long beach two years ago. You can sit outside and eat your food in peace. I’m usually greeted with a smile and always provided with great service.

Pro tip. Order sushi to go and take it to sake secret next door for the perfect meal to go with a drink. Sushi is yummy and staff are nice. Rolls are fresh and made to order. The wait is not bad for sushi! The price ia good for sushi not bad and ypu definitely get your money worth.

Tried here for the first time today and almost left because it was very busy and the wait was long, and the service wasn't the most friendly. But I'm so glad we stayed! Once the food started coming out the plate timing was always perfect and everything was delicious. This has been hands down my favorite dragon roll, ever. We will be back! If bedside manner was better this would be 5 stars.

Sushi Zen Maru is a small business on one of the busiest streets in Downtown Long Beach. While our party (5 people) were grateful to have a place to sit down and eat, when beginning our Saturday night, the experience was easily forgettable. Food Quality - the taste and presentation were average and unimpressive. The hand-cut rolls were not very filling and meager in size, considering the prices ($17-20). Teriyaki bowls were reportedly "nothing to write home about, but at least it was food." There is room for improvement. Service - I went with a party of 5 and were the only patrons inside. There was only one employee working at the time, and we had to track him down a few times to get help. Customers must order at the front counter. Not once did he come by our table to check on us. We all assumed he was busy with something better to do. Atmosphere - kind of plain and felt sterile in terms of décor. There are two televisions that were screening at high volume, one of which was directly over our table. Our group was having a difficult time just having a conversation, so I had to ask the server/cook to turn the volume down, but he turned it off instead, which was fine with us. The exterior doesn't stand out well and is easy to miss. Seating - a few small tables and a community seating bar/shelf along the window.

I hate leaving a bad review on already struggling rating but omg you would think they would try a little harder? The quality of sushi is not the best. And overall presentation was not good! You guys have potential just put a little more effort and you can be great!

Ordered: chicken udon, beef udon, chicken katsu. chicken udon- broth and noodles are good, the chicken is just a bit genuinely raw and bland. better to go with the $9 option with no protein beef udon: broth and noodles also good, the beef is just cheap and possibly freeze-dried and tastes like gas station beef jerky. chicken katsu- good but dry

The service here is good. Just what you'd expect from a place like this. The food on the other hand.....TERRIBLE! This is the absolute worst, tasting "ramen" I've ever had! ZERO flavor. Literally tastes exactly how it looks, like dirty dish water. Rubbery chicken, cheap beef and hard rice. Mushy tempura. What happened to this place? I lived on Pine years ago, and I ate here all the time? Where is Japanese gentleman that cooked here for years? The food was much better then. Don't know how this place has managed to stay open serving "food" like this. Also BEWARE OF THE FAKE GOOGLE REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE. NO WAY ANYONE WITH A TONGUE WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE 5, 4, 3, 2 OR 1 STAR!

Additionally for the low rating is the service got my order wrong, the rest room light was out and was told that people use their phone light and they didn't have free water. Tried also sitting outside but they didn't clean their tables either. My note to the owners: you better pick up your game or you're out of business with so much better options in the area.

This was a terrible experience from start to finish. My food arrived opened, and the driver even pointed it out when delivering it. That alone is unacceptable when you're paying for food that’s supposed to be sealed and handled properly. What made it worse was the response from the restaurant. My order was almost $60, and they could not offer any real solution or take accountability. It felt like they barely wanted to lift a finger to address the issue. After dealing with this, I went back and looked at the reviews and realized many people are saying the same thing. I honestly should have listened. If you see the constant specials and the poor ratings, there’s probably a reason. Unfortunately, I learned that the hard way.
