This place is an absolute oasis. Good vibes all around. Owners and staff are super chill and welcoming. Feel like I could stay here all day and not notice the time flying by. Coffee n almond pastries are very yummy. The owner told me they make all their pastries with imported French butter. Love that!

Cafe nido is a coffee shop to the next level. It’s situated on the backside of the block and the entrance leads to a quirky, zen and earthy space. Everything about it is like the calm you need in the middle of a busy city and life. The staff is super friendly and coffee is delicious! I grabbed some toast w apricot jelly and it was of the heavens. It gets busy but we were able to find a seat and hung around for a little over an hour.

Great atmosphere and awesome ownership! Had a chance to chat with Devin and was very impressed by the direction he is taking the shop. Many cool things to come and great coffee. They are using Counterculture Coffee and have a cool nightlife scene that I hope to check out soon!

TAHIA

This locale boasts one of the city's most charming and serene aesthetics. Thrice a week, it transforms into a lively bar. There might be a bit of a wait for breakfast, but fear not! They offer free books to keep you entertained. You could even enlist a friend to queue for you as you relax on their tule-lined benches, echoing a Spanish parroquia ambiance. Coffee is approximately $6, and juice runs around $9. It's a worthwhile visit for the unique experience. Warning: Almost no parking on location. Park around the block or across the street.

Cafe Nido is a hidden gem that feels like stepping into a cozy little forest. The ambiance is perfect for reading or getting some work done, with a calm and inviting atmosphere. Their strawberry matcha is a must-try—super smooth and creamy, perfectly balancing the sweetness of the strawberry. But my personal favorite was the toast and butter. Served with Le Beurre Bordier, one of the best butters out there, it was rich and indulgent, especially paired with raspberry jam. If you’re looking for a peaceful café with great flavors, this spot is definitely worth a visit!

Came here on a rainy day. Unusual for LA and, since the place has mostly outdoor sitting, it was almost empty, which was great for me since I could finally snug the cosy velvet sofa, sip my delicious Americano and read. The coffee and the goat cheese tart were delicious. The baristas here are always super friendly.

Cute and peaceful atmosphere with delicious menu options and fast service. The strawberries & cream matcha and goat cheese + spinach croissant were very good! The books are available for rent or purchase. Street parking only. Vegetarian and dairy-free options.

The goat cheese croissant was good. But the best part of the scenery. I love being in green spaces. There was plenty of seating when I went but it soon filled up. The only thing that I didn’t like was the country music it didn’t go with the tropical vibes. But I just put on headphones and relaxed.

Come for the environment! This is a special atmosphere. The shaded outdoor space is beautiful. Fair warning, it’s not ideal for studying— pretty much all benches and very low stools. Also there are a few cushioned chairs but the rest is very hard seating, so may need to bring a cushion if you’re staying for a while. But it’s a great place to sit and reflect, journal, read, or catch up with friends. A small window with books you can read while you’re there, or rent/buy. Live DJ also makes it very fun! They have great music selection here and it’s a good vibe. Coffee is fine, nothing special but certainly not bad. A bit pricey, but typical LA. Service is not consistent— one barista was very sweet and came around taking everyone’s trash as we sat, but another barista was not attentive. My friend and I stood waiting to order without any acknowledgement, then she took my friend’s order and walked away without saying anything and without taking my order. Not personally a big rub for me, it is what it is, just something for potential visitors to anticipate. All that to say, definitely check it out if you’re in the area, just be aware that the reason it’s popular is the setting.

The service took a while to make a simple latte. And I judge this based on the typical time one takes to make one. The place was pretty empty when I went. And when I thought my drink was finally up it was actually someone else’s who had been waiting longer than me. The pastries were a bit dense. But I didn’t try any other food offerings. It’s a good use of a space that isn’t open during the day. Reminds me of Pluma Cafe in the Pattern Bar downtown. There’s a lot of good coffee spots in the area though but if you want a secluded vibe for your afternoon cuppa, this isn’t bad on an empty day. Would not go if it’s hella packed. They do have minimal parking too though but you’re in the Trader Joe’s black hole so proceed with caution.

I got the pesto chicken sandwich & “buttered croissant “that’s supposed to be on baguette bread. Bread was dry & hard. They toast the baguette which makes it hard. The actual bread has no flavor. I wouldn’t call it a baguette. The sandwich is actually on the smaller side ( I genuinely thought it was going to be a full sized sandwich , which ok whatever) The pesto has no flavor. Really just there for decoration. I don’t know why bell peppers are in a pesto sandwich. The actual chicken is shredded ( who knows why) no flavor but I thought it was going to be shredded. The croissant was better but not good and below “mid”. It’s less than a Costco croissant. Borderline tastes almost frozen. No flavor for flakiness and no “buttery” but hey at least it wasn’t hard. Service was ok. No one was rude or anything but it definitely feels like they are there passin the time. And no one was paying attention so one guy was just waiting in where you are supposed to order and holding the line up. Actual ambiance is nice and relaxing. I am not leaving this as a way to be rude but as a way to give feedback to improve. I would suggest the manager/ owner send in someone and do random tastings / visits to see how it is. I hope to see an improvement as supporting small businesses is important! Much love ,

There's a $1-2 difference between the same burritos (Nido's chicken is $16 and Tacolina's is $17). When asked what's the difference between the two the register staff said "none". When asked to explain the difference then in pricing, he said "they're both burritos". I of course ordered the less expensive of the two chicken burritos and had to see other orders come out to know that they are in fact, very different. One is a small breakfast burrito with potatoes and dry unseasoned chicken, and the other is a large loaded traditional burrito. It's not hard to add descriptions to the menu or simply know the basics about the food that you serve. 1-star service. 5-star atmosphere for the most glorified and beautiful study-hall you can find on this side of the 101.
