So much fun! Japanese French twist on the menu. Uni tuna tartare toast, black sesame rolls with salted French butter and ikura, uni pasta, salad with toasted walnuts and apples, cassoulet, a croque Madame with a confit egg yolk on top that was amazing and most spectacular of all, an abalone, scallop, snail butter pot pie. So so delicious!! Inventive menu. Really good service also! Great wine and sake list! And across the street, the flamingo bar, pink tropical disco - great for a before or after dinner drink! Go there. You won’t regret it!

My first time here and it was amazing! All the food wasn’t heavy and it was filling but light. The black sesame dinner rolls was very good, the pot pie was shockingly good .. I was thinking it would be heavy and since I don’t like pie I was skeptical why it was popular but it was delicious. The pastry ontop was fluffy. The uni and bluefin tuna toast was good but definitely was expecting to be more 😅 The grilled loup de mer was good too just nothing too wow except the yuzu sauce — loved the yuzu sauce. It was recommended by the server. The grilled duck breast was good! I’ve never had duck like this and I liked it!

We really enjoyed our dinner date here! We came on the earlier side before it started to get busy. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and the service was great. Peter, our server, gave us some amazing recommendations — and he did not disappoint! I wish we had more people with us to share dishes because everything we ordered was delicious. Each dish was so delicate, and every detail and ingredient felt so thoughtful. I got the Cobbler for my cocktail and it was pretty refreshing but might be on the sweeter side for someone else’s liking. We got the Parker House roll, Japanese itoyori sashimi, celebrity tomatoes with burrata, Hokkaido uni pasta, hanger steak, and mochi. I really wanted to try the cotton cheesecake, but we’ll save that for next time. Can’t wait to come back with friends and explore more of the menu!

Sooo food was amazing! Best I’ve had in may ways, service was pretty bad. I used to work in the F&B industry so I know…the staff don’t seem ok. First of all, I checked in at the host stand and asked for an indoor table and she basically shames me for not putting that in the notes. And says there’s only patio seating. That’s fine, I get it. She then confirms that it’s my birthday. Once at the table, the server doesn’t mention the birthday at all. She also offers zero suggestions on food and barely checks on us. Just overall cold. No rudeness or anything but a pricey dinner you do expect at least some warmth? The food was so good! The croque madame was a highlight. Definitely indulgent but not super heavy. We loved the freshness of the market salad and the squash salad was different. I appreciate the creativity—burrata at the bottom was a fun surprise. We also got the spaghetti which was yummy and the flavors were really unique. The chicken entree is pricey at $61, but was very tasty and the meat was tender and juicy. So overall im giving the place a 5 star for the food. But dont expect warm service.

A wonderful date night at Camelia. Great vibes, buzzing but with nice staff and hostesses and not the snobby LA situation. The cocktail bar REALLY knows what they're doing. It took a long time from our reservation to actually get a table and put in our order but luckily the bar staff was fantastic. Our first dish (tuna uni toast) was way too small for the price which I think explains the lower reviews. Everything else was amazing, peak for us was the pot pie, which was in a escargot butter and SO good. I can't wait to come back.

I thought long how to rate the restaurant as we had a really bad start. Although we had a reservation no table was free and we had to wait long, not being served. Only after I complained twice, and quite directly, we got a round of complimentary drinks and after 25 minutes a table. It seems like they give out reservations but do not limit the table times, so basically with a reservation you get a next free table but not at a guaranteed time. They need to change this to meet expectations. However, as soon as we were seated and tempers had cooled it was a great experience. We ordered almost everything on the menu and it sum it was a great food experience. I love the sharing/ tapas style. Sometimes very innovative (try the burrito for sure) sometimes just plain good. Only the chicken I’d not recommend, it was just OK. I’d recommend to come here with more people to be able to select a lot. Service was good from then on, timing of the dishes perfect and the wine menu is fair and balanced. Not sure if I’d come again but I’d definitely recommend to go there at least once.

Camelia is a fantastic restaurant with a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. The food is flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly portioned—leaving you full without feeling overindulgent. The photos really speak for themselves, but my personal favorites were the Croque Madame and the beef dish. Both were incredibly tender with excellent texture and depth of flavor. Safe to say, Camelia has earned a spot in my top five restaurants in LA.

Although the architectural changes are subtle, the old Church & State space has been thoughtfully transformed into an incredible new experience. Food is inspired with standouts being the warm bread with French butter and ikura, a soft-shell crab presented artistically, and the croque madame that has an egg yolk that soaks right into the dish when cut. Cocktails are pricey but delicious and well presented. Given the deep sake bench at their other restaurants, we are excited to explore that next time. Modern French food that felt much “lighter” than traditional paired with the dynamic Japanese fare of the OTOTO / Tsubaki group is a winning amalgamation. Service is fast, professional, and knowledgeable. Pricey, but worth it.

Camelia was one of the restaurants I wanted to pay a visit during my stay in LA. Not many free parking spaces available there, ended up valet parking. Food was decent but nothing really stood out. Portions are on the smaller side and price somewhat on the higher end. We ordered a cocktail that was suggested by the waitress but had to return because it was the worst cocktail I've ever tasted. I did like the ambience though and how the chefs came out and served some of the food. Overall a decent meal but a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Perfect evening out for a date night. The restaurant ambiance was refined yet lively. There were people out for dates, girls night out and some business dinners. The service was prompt and professional. The food portions are smaller and good for sharing. Would definitely come back to try the other food items.

Camelia offers a creative take on French-Japanese fusion cuisine. We visited on Halloween and got to try the special New Orleans style menu. We started with cocktails and these were definitely one of the high points of the menu. They were well balanced and creatively flavored. The food was good overall. Some were just ok for example the mushrooms and oysters both had an overpowering tomato sauce. The shrimp étoufée had a great binchotan charcoal flavor but was a little overcooked. Surprisingly the crisp salad was probably my favorite and for dessert the mochi was very memorable. Service was friendly and efficient. I'd definitely like to visit again and try the standard menu.

French and Japanese fusion cuisine! Came here for a special occasion and really liked the atmosphere here as it’s intimate and romantic in an elevated French vibe. The service was attentive and friendly as well. I really enjoyed the Tomato and Burrata dish and it’s one of their signatures. The Branzino was really delicious too and cooked perfectly! For dessert, I really enjoyed the Pudding with the crunchy caramel crisp on top.

Came to Camelia for Chase Sapphire’s sponsored dinner and did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was unique and delicious. Even better, Camelia / Chase gifted us two bottles of homemade soy sauce to take home with us (and it’s seriously some of the best soy sauce we ever had). Stand out dishes include the bolognese and the croque madame. Personally I found the pot-pie to be too heavy and a bit fishy, but I enjoyed the dish still. Cocktails were on point as well - I’ve never had a white negroni before! Service was attentive but a bit cold, and we were sat very close between two other tables of two. So close together that we were basically sitting with strangers… This was the least enjoyable aspect of our meal. However, the food makes Camelia worth a return visit!

Overall a really tasty meal with unique dishes. My favourite dish was the Bonny melon with tofu as well as the grilled loup de mer. All the food was very unique and I loved some dishes but not others. Service was excellent, helpful and onto everything but not too much.

This place is great for after work in downtown, the menu is Japanese fusion, interesting experience. The food was great, but a bit less than dinner size, I believe here is fitting for light diet people or hanging with friends/colleagues. The restaurant starts business at 5 pm, remember to make a reservation before you go.

The food here is delicious, the portions small and the prices high. Expect to spend around $60-70 a person and more if you’re getting drinks or if your group can eat. Most of the dishes are the size of tapas and you’ll be ordering multiples. I went home and ate some more, the meal was not enough. Items I enjoyed were mushrooms, bolognese, gratin and pot pie. Items that were good but nothing special were the roasted chicken and fish (Japanese ponzu styled) I’d skip the Suntory on tap for $13. Comes in a 12 oz glass and the first time it just stunk. They didn’t even check the keg or tap. Second time was better, but that lingering taste from the first glass stuck around. They actually only have two beers. The cocktails are good and I recommend the New York Sour. I’d pass on the Flower District Romance and just go for two unique cocktails. Ohhhh and one important thing to note, not sure why, but you are not allowed to bring any outside dessert in. Soooo if you’re planning to have a birthday party and you want to bring your friend their favorite cake, don’t. They’ll be left taking the whole cake home to somehow finish themselves! Also suck it up and just pay for valet parking, it’s convenient and only $15. You can order one less appetizer and save the frustration of finding a spot around the area.

What a lovely restaurant! I regret not taking pictures of the interior - it was like I was eating at a friend’s NY loft. Very pretty. The food was exciting and tasty! The top two favorites are definitely the pot pie and the croque madame. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu! The drink list looks like a well thought out menu. I’d love to explore the pairing possibilities.

Like someone else said, there is a bad table to be sat at and we were placed in the corner close to the bathroom. Alot of foot traffic and since we were in the back it felt like our server completely forgot about us. For a $300 dinner we would expect to get asked if we wanted our wine refilled when our meal came out. The food runners were nice and I love the vibes but mediocre food and service.

I made a reservation and visited this restaurant, which was almost completely empty when we arrived. Despite plenty of open tables in the spacious dining area, we were seated in a poorly decorated spot right next to the restroom hallway — a place where people constantly walked by. It felt disrespectful and uncomfortable. Soon after, I noticed that the better tables in the middle area were filled mostly with white guests, while we — the only Asian customers at that time — were left in the worst spot. That’s when I realized we were treated differently because of our race. It was an extremely unpleasant experience, and I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. For a so-called French-Japanese fusion restaurant, treating Asian customers this way is simply unacceptable. Could it really be just a coincidence that the tuna we were served was unusually dark in color, and that the texture of the uni placed on top was different?!!!

Our family of 5 reserved the Friday dinner (day after Thanksgiving) on 11/28/2025 There are many issues with the service. I hope it can help others avoid the problem with this restaurant. 1. We picked a bottle of red wine and the waitress came with an opened different red wine. She didn’t even ask us if that different wine is ok for us. 2. We were waiting for 55 minutes for them starting serving appetizers 3. Two and half hours later we were still waiting for 2 more entrees. Turned out there was miscommunication with the kitchen and they were going to serve the same entrees to us again. The last straw was when the waitress came to our table and asked us if we were waiting for deserts while we were still waiting for the other two entrees. It seems like there was little communications between the kitchen and service/ waitress. 4. Their food was way over priced for the quality and service that they offered.
