So much fun! Japanese French twist on the menu. Uni tuna tartare toast, black sesame rolls with salted French butter and ikura, uni pasta, salad with toasted walnuts and apples, cassoulet, a croque Madame with a confit egg yolk on top that was amazing and most spectacular of all, an abalone, scallop, snail butter pot pie. So so delicious!! Inventive menu. Really good service also! Great wine and sake list! And across the street, the flamingo bar, pink tropical disco - great for a before or after dinner drink! Go there. You won’t regret it!

My first time here and it was amazing! All the food wasn’t heavy and it was filling but light. The black sesame dinner rolls was very good, the pot pie was shockingly good .. I was thinking it would be heavy and since I don’t like pie I was skeptical why it was popular but it was delicious. The pastry ontop was fluffy. The uni and bluefin tuna toast was good but definitely was expecting to be more 😅 The grilled loup de mer was good too just nothing too wow except the yuzu sauce — loved the yuzu sauce. It was recommended by the server. The grilled duck breast was good! I’ve never had duck like this and I liked it!

Had a great time! We used the Red Dining Book and loved everything we ordered. The Croque Madame was our favorite dish, hands down. Definitely will be coming back

We really enjoyed our dinner date here! We came on the earlier side before it started to get busy. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and the service was great. Peter, our server, gave us some amazing recommendations — and he did not disappoint! I wish we had more people with us to share dishes because everything we ordered was delicious. Each dish was so delicate, and every detail and ingredient felt so thoughtful. I got the Cobbler for my cocktail and it was pretty refreshing but might be on the sweeter side for someone else’s liking. We got the Parker House roll, Japanese itoyori sashimi, celebrity tomatoes with burrata, Hokkaido uni pasta, hanger steak, and mochi. I really wanted to try the cotton cheesecake, but we’ll save that for next time. Can’t wait to come back with friends and explore more of the menu!

Sooo food was amazing! Best I’ve had in many ways, service was pretty bad. I used to work in the F&B industry so I know…the staff don’t seem ok. First of all, I checked in at the host stand and asked for an indoor table and she basically shames me for not putting that in the notes. And says there’s only patio seating. That’s fine, I get it. She then confirms that it’s my birthday. Once at the table, the server doesn’t mention the birthday at all. She also offers zero suggestions on food and barely checks on us. Just overall cold. No rudeness or anything but a pricey dinner you do expect at least some warmth? The food was so good! The croque madame was a highlight. Definitely indulgent but not super heavy. We loved the freshness of the market salad and the squash salad was different. I appreciate the creativity—burrata at the bottom was a fun surprise. We also got the spaghetti which was yummy and the flavors were really unique. The chicken entree is pricey at $61, but was very tasty and the meat was tender and juicy. So overall im giving the place a 5 star for the food. But dont expect warm service.

A wonderful date night at Camelia. Great vibes, buzzing but with nice staff and hostesses and not the snobby LA situation. The cocktail bar REALLY knows what they're doing. It took a long time from our reservation to actually get a table and put in our order but luckily the bar staff was fantastic. Our first dish (tuna uni toast) was way too small for the price which I think explains the lower reviews. Everything else was amazing, peak for us was the pot pie, which was in a escargot butter and SO good. I can't wait to come back.

Camelia is a fantastic restaurant with a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. The food is flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly portioned—leaving you full without feeling overindulgent. The photos really speak for themselves, but my personal favorites were the Croque Madame and the beef dish. Both were incredibly tender with excellent texture and depth of flavor. Safe to say, Camelia has earned a spot in my top five restaurants in LA.

I thought long how to rate the restaurant as we had a really bad start. Although we had a reservation no table was free and we had to wait long, not being served. Only after I complained twice, and quite directly, we got a round of complimentary drinks and after 25 minutes a table. It seems like they give out reservations but do not limit the table times, so basically with a reservation you get a next free table but not at a guaranteed time. They need to change this to meet expectations. However, as soon as we were seated and tempers had cooled it was a great experience. We ordered almost everything on the menu and it sum it was a great food experience. I love the sharing/ tapas style. Sometimes very innovative (try the burrito for sure) sometimes just plain good. Only the chicken I’d not recommend, it was just OK. I’d recommend to come here with more people to be able to select a lot. Service was good from then on, timing of the dishes perfect and the wine menu is fair and balanced. Not sure if I’d come again but I’d definitely recommend to go there at least once.

Camelia was one of the restaurants I wanted to pay a visit during my stay in LA. Not many free parking spaces available there, ended up valet parking. Food was decent but nothing really stood out. Portions are on the smaller side and price somewhat on the higher end. We ordered a cocktail that was suggested by the waitress but had to return because it was the worst cocktail I've ever tasted. I did like the ambience though and how the chefs came out and served some of the food. Overall a decent meal but a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Perfect evening out for a date night. The restaurant ambiance was refined yet lively. There were people out for dates, girls night out and some business dinners. The service was prompt and professional. The food portions are smaller and good for sharing. Would definitely come back to try the other food items.

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. The French-Japanese fusion is delightful - every dish we had I would order again. Same with the cocktails. Our server was super helpful in pointing us in the right direction on favorites and flavor profiles, she took her time with us. And again, there wasn’t a single dish that disappointed! Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Great New York–style pizza with amazing flavor. The cheese and crust were really good and hit that classic NYC style. The only small downside was that the dough was a bit dry, likely because I grabbed slices from the counter — I’m sure a fresh slice would be even better. Service was fast and friendly, the place was clean, and overall it was a great experience. Definitely worth checking out!

The food was superb! The decor was nice exactly what an Italian restaurant looks like but, the death metal music was too loud and didn't match the Italian vibe to create an authentic ambiance. I had to shout across the table to my husband...I'd definitely stop for pizza again however, I'd take it to go.

Old school dark grunge atmosphere, not bad. Bought a vegan 18 in round and a vegan sicilian and they were HUGE. Highly recommend the Sicilian as it had nice dough texture, good sauce and perfect cheese (vegan). The 18 round was okay, but VERY thin. Like paper and was lightly sauced. But you get A LOT of pizza for the value. I would definitely go again and when it's fresh

Apparently I ordered a Meat Jesus and a Sicilian with pepperoni but it looks like I ordered a Meat Jesus and 2 slices of Sicilian with pepperoni. I even double checked. Even my receipt says I ordered a total of 2 slices and not 3. If this is true moving forward I am impressed and I will be ordering 1 slice of Sicilian with pepperoni. I barely finished eating what I ordered. The pizza/tomato sauce used is very good and the Meat Jesus is fire. I love the atmosphere and the service. I'll be back again as soon as humanly possible. 🍕⚙️

Been coming here for many years. Love how they have pizza by the slice. I used to be vegan so I would love the vegan options too. The dips are in large containers. Sometimes they give you two slices if you pay for one. Customer service is good. Overall, I'd say it's dtla's best pizza spot. I tried a few other ones and they didn't impress me much. There is that one spot in the arts district by the ice cream shop. I forget what it's called but that one's decent but it's a chain and it's not as good as this one. Support the locals.

honestly would not have gone here had it not been for me being a jackass to my employers. my job gives you a free 1-topping pizza for your birthday and i said meatlovers. apparently “meatlovers is not 1 topping” so i doubled down and said “prosciutto” to which i was told “if you can find a spot that has just prosciutto, let us know” so here we are with a cheese pizza and a prosciutto add-on later and hey, can’t complain. you guys helped me out in my time of tomfoolery. thank you

WOW! The Best Vegan Pizza in Town! Whether by the slice or a whole box, this place is a must-try! I had the Vegan 3 Meat pizza, and it was hands down the most delicious Vegan pizza I’ve ever had. It tastes just like the real deal, but without any animal suffering. The slice was surprisingly huge. The crust was slightly crunchy, with that authentic Italian flavor, and the vegan cheese was perfect—no weird aftertaste at all. I was very satisfied. A thoughtful touch they offer chili flakes and nutritional yeast for extra flavor and protein!!! This place deserves 100 stars—totally worth the drive. The staff is very kind and friendly!! I only wish they had more locations because this vegan pizza is that good! Highly recommended!

Camelia offers a creative take on French-Japanese fusion cuisine. We visited on Halloween and got to try the special New Orleans style menu. We started with cocktails and these were definitely one of the high points of the menu. They were well balanced and creatively flavored. The food was good overall. Some were just ok for example the mushrooms and oysters both had an overpowering tomato sauce. The shrimp étoufée had a great binchotan charcoal flavor but was a little overcooked. Surprisingly the crisp salad was probably my favorite and for dessert the mochi was very memorable. Service was friendly and efficient. I'd definitely like to visit again and try the standard menu.

French and Japanese fusion cuisine! Came here for a special occasion and really liked the atmosphere here as it’s intimate and romantic in an elevated French vibe. The service was attentive and friendly as well. I really enjoyed the Tomato and Burrata dish and it’s one of their signatures. The Branzino was really delicious too and cooked perfectly! For dessert, I really enjoyed the Pudding with the crunchy caramel crisp on top.

Came to Camelia for Chase Sapphire’s sponsored dinner and did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was unique and delicious. Even better, Camelia / Chase gifted us two bottles of homemade soy sauce to take home with us (and it’s seriously some of the best soy sauce we ever had). Stand out dishes include the bolognese and the croque madame. Personally I found the pot-pie to be too heavy and a bit fishy, but I enjoyed the dish still. Cocktails were on point as well - I’ve never had a white negroni before! Service was attentive but a bit cold, and we were sat very close between two other tables of two. So close together that we were basically sitting with strangers… This was the least enjoyable aspect of our meal. However, the food makes Camelia worth a return visit!

Overall a really tasty meal with unique dishes. My favourite dish was the Bonny melon with tofu as well as the grilled loup de mer. All the food was very unique and I loved some dishes but not others. Service was excellent, helpful and onto everything but not too much.

What a lovely restaurant! I regret not taking pictures of the interior - it was like I was eating at a friend’s NY loft. Very pretty. The food was exciting and tasty! The top two favorites are definitely the pot pie and the croque madame. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu! The drink list looks like a well thought out menu. I’d love to explore the pairing possibilities.

This was our first time visiting, and since it’s a place that so many people seem to go to, we decided to give it a try. We ordered a 12-inch pizza and a salad. The salad was pretty good and enjoyable, but the pizza was very thin and quite crispy. For my personal taste, the texture felt a bit too hard—almost like it was slightly overcooked. It looked like most people were ordering slice by slice rather than whole pies, which makes sense for the area. As for the price, it was reasonable considering it’s located in Downtown. Overall, it was a decent experience, though the pizza texture just wasn’t quite my style.

TLDR: Divey pizza place with vegan slice options. On a food tour, I came across Pizzanista on a Sunday. Any other day, I wouldn't risk braving DTLA traffic and parking, but I was able to find easy free street parking. The place is dark, with loud music, and features 12+ slices, of which 4 are vegan. The place is solid, but not necessarily the best pizza in LA. It satisfies your cravings and isn't obtusely priced. 4 vegan slices plus tip around $30. Service is friendly and I got my 4 pizza slices in under 4 minutes, perhaps helped by the fact that there were no competing orders. It tasted great while fresh, with a bit of chewy mouthful. I ordered 3 thin crusts: vegan pepperoni, vegan veggies, vegan seitan meats Jesus, and a Sicilian style focaccia thick crust. My favorites were vegan seitan meats Jesus (what loaded name) that had bits of crispy vegan bacon and pepperoni, and the vegan veggies (very juicy). The other 2 were passable. Overall, Pizzanista was a better than average vegan pizza experience. Not in the same league as Hot Tongue, but if you are in DTLA arts district, a solid choice.

This location in downtown is a small spot mostly used for to go orders or a quick bite. You got a few booths down the kitchen area and some communal table seating in the front with a counter top along the windows and a few tables outside. As for the pies! Pretty solid by the slice pizza joint. Slices are big and with robust sauces and ingredients. The crust is nice and thin and crunchy. I just wish it had some flavor in it. I get that most of it is in the toppings but a seasoned crust goes a long way. That said it’s a good spot to run for a quick slice or share in on a big pie.

Like someone else said, there is a bad table to be sat at and we were placed in the corner close to the bathroom. Alot of foot traffic and since we were in the back it felt like our server completely forgot about us. For a $300 dinner we would expect to get asked if we wanted our wine refilled when our meal came out. The food runners were nice and I love the vibes but mediocre food and service.

The pizza slices weren’t that great honestly. First of all, they were inconsistent. One slice floppy, another rock hard almost to the point of being un-chewable. Secondly, the crust is super thin and so is the amount of toppings if you know what I mean.

I've always seen this spot but never tried it until recently. Yes, there are 🍕 that is already made. I got the pepperoni! The slices are big, thin, lightly sauced with chunkier smaller pepperoni slices. I thought it was good and flavorful. It got busy during lunch. I think it's worth the try. It has always been a busy spot and is convenient for downtown workers.

This French-Japanese fusion restaurant was extremely disappointing. Three of us ordered several dishes, and almost everything was overwhelmingly salty — not just flavorful, but unbearably salty to the point where we couldn’t keep eating. The pasta was unusually hard and tasted undercooked. Even the fries were worse and saltier than McDonald’s, which honestly says a lot. The most shocking dish was the duck breast: one side was basically raw with a JELLY-like texture, yet the staff insisted it was “medium.” There’s no way that level of rawness qualifies as medium. The only thing we could actually eat was the cheesy sweet potato. Altogether, we didn’t even finish half of what we ordered — it felt like paying to suffer through a bad meal. On top of that, a LA health charge was added to the bill without any prior notice. We only noticed it because we checked the receipt, which felt very unreasonable and made the experience even worse.

Our family of 5 reserved the Friday dinner (day after Thanksgiving) on 11/28/2025 There are many issues with the service. I hope it can help others avoid the problem with this restaurant. 1. We picked a bottle of red wine and the waitress came with an opened different red wine. She didn’t even ask us if that different wine is ok for us. 2. We were waiting for 55 minutes for them starting serving appetizers 3. Two and half hours later we were still waiting for 2 more entrees. Turned out there was miscommunication with the kitchen and they were going to serve the same entrees to us again. The last straw was when the waitress came to our table and asked us if we were waiting for deserts while we were still waiting for the other two entrees. It seems like there was little communications between the kitchen and service/ waitress. 4. Their food was way over priced for the quality and service that they offered.

I made a reservation and visited this restaurant, which was almost completely empty when we arrived. Despite plenty of open tables in the spacious dining area, we were seated in a poorly decorated spot right next to the restroom hallway — a place where people constantly walked by. It felt disrespectful and uncomfortable. Soon after, I noticed that the better tables in the middle area were filled mostly with white guests, while we — the only Asian customers at that time — were left in the worst spot. That’s when I realized we were treated differently because of our race. It was an extremely unpleasant experience, and I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. For a so-called French-Japanese fusion restaurant, treating Asian customers this way is simply unacceptable. Could it really be just a coincidence that the tuna we were served was unusually dark in color, and that the texture of the uni placed on top was different?!!!

I searched for “best pizza in Los Angeles” and this place came up on the very top with very high ratings. When we entered, there was no one at the cashier counter to take our order for 15 minutes. Then someone finally decided to come up and take our order. All the pizzas were ready and all they needed to do was heat them up. But it took them more than half an hour to bring our slices. The pizza tasted so horrible. It tasted like it was dried out for days! I couldn’t even eat more than two bites of the seitan pizza. I don’t know what they did to get such high rating but their pizza is awful. The place is a mess and there are pizza slices lying all over the floor. The staff simply steps on them instead of cleaning up. What a nightmare! I will never trust these reviews again and will never go back to this place!

Ben Litvin
Ben Litvin

Hard to believe it’s the top-rated pizza around, it is definitely not. Clearly asked the counter to bring pizza slices separately: one plate with vegetarian only and another without. They messed up and gave us both on the same plates where meat pizza was next to vegetarian. Fine, asked them to fix it and make it again. The person in the kitchen gave us a nasty look because he was forced to trash it. Clearly it’s not the fault of the customers who asked you to be accurate from the beginning! One more thing, the taste is very mediocre. Absolutely not worth it.
