Din Tai Fung in LA never disappoints — every meal genuinely surprised me in the best way. The crab xiao long bao were outstanding, super delicate with rich crab flavor. The string beans with garlic were very, very good (honestly addictive). The fried rice was comforting and well balanced, and the shao mai were solid and satisfying too. Consistently high quality across the table. Amazing food and an easy place to come back to again and again.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Din Tai Fung, and our server Greg made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we were seated, Greg went above and beyond to make sure my friends and I had a great time. He recommended an incredible bottle of sake (seriously the best bottle I’ve ever had!), and it was so yummy. But what really stood out was how thoughtful and attentive he was, especially when it came to my friend with a food allergy. Greg made sure everything was safe and enjoyable for her, which meant the world to us. His energy, passion, and care made us feel so welcome. Truly, Greg killed it and I’m so grateful for how he elevated our night. If you’re lucky enough to be seated in his section, you’re in for a treat. Thanks again, Greg, you deserve all the recognition! The food was of course, incredible as always.

Din Tai Fung in Santa Monica Place is one of those rare restaurants that manages to be both a machine of precision and a warm, satisfying experience. Sitting on the top level of the mall with views toward the ocean, it feels elevated in every sense. The famous xiao long bao live up to their reputation—each delicate dumpling perfectly folded, filled with Kurobuta pork and hot, rich broth that bursts with flavor. The crab and pork version is another standout. The cucumber salad with garlic and chili oil is the perfect cool start, and the string beans with garlic might be one of the best vegetable dishes in Los Angeles, full of wok char and crunch. Cocktails are more thoughtful than you’d expect from a global chain. The Yuzu Margarita is balanced and bright, the Pear Lychee Martini is light and floral, and the Old Fashioned made with Taiwanese whisky and oolong syrup is a clever nod to their roots. Service is smooth and efficient, and you can actually watch the dumpling masters folding behind glass. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. Din Tai Fung is a well-oiled, world-class operation that still feels human, and this Santa Monica location gets every detail right. Five stars.

We were really hungry today and felt the food was taking a bit long, so we asked a few times. The restaurant was quite busy, which I totally understand. To my surprise, the manager personally came over to apologize and even comped part of our meal. It was such a kind gesture, especially since it wasn’t really their fault. I really appreciate their thoughtfulness and great service. This isn’t my first time dining at Din Tai Fung Century city, and it definitely won’t be my last. Thank you for always treating your guests with care!

An outstanding place for authentic Taiwanese cuisine! Every dish is flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The service is impressively quick and attentive, which makes the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The only challenge is the long wait for a table ~especially during peak hours ~but once you’re seated, it’s absolutely worth it. A must-visit for anyone who loves great Taiwanese food! 🥟✨🇹🇼

The rest just tasted normal to me, but those were definitely my favourite and something you have to try. I loved how everything looked inside. It was so beautiful. Din Tai Fung is simply the best! The food is always spot-on — from the awesome chicken dumplings and famous soup dumplings to the refreshing cucumber salad, crispy string beans, tender broccoli, and that perfect fried rice. Everything tastes fresh and full of flavor. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is warm, and every visit feels like a treat. Definitely one of my favorite spots!

Seriously, I was blown away by how much I enjoyed the food here. I know Din Tai Fung is beloved by all. However, I was never a big fan since I typically eat at more authentic, mom-pop Asian restaurants. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was here! I really tasted the high quality of ingredients in every dish. All the dishes ordered were: Cucumber Salad, Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao, Chicken Xiao Long Bao, Crab & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Spicy Wontons, Noodles with Minced Kurobuta Pork, Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao w/side of sea salt cream. Seriously, do not go anywhere else for dessert. Those chocolate dumplings were so yummy! All the dumplings were so soft and very flavorful. My favorite savory dumplings were the crab/pork ones - the blend of the meats was perfect, no flavor overpowering the other. Food came out relatively fast. However, our initial server was hard to get a hold of. The setting was very nice and extremely clean!

Din Tai Fung is a wonderful combination of food, vibes, and service if you want a comfort food meal with a modern restaurant style. The dumplings are juicy and have thin skin, and that goes for both the pork, fish, and the chili oil vegan ones! I love that they have a vegan option. Even if the other entree or appetizer portions are kind of small, the quality of the handmade dumplings makes up for it. This location also has views of the ocean if you sit outside. We tried the mango shaved snow since it was a hot day, and the shaved snow was pretty icy but the mangoes are definitely not in season right now 🤣 dessert baos were a treat; best one was black sesame (not too sweet!) fantastic food and overall meal!

This is one of my most favorite restaurants in Los Angeles! They even have the mango snow dessert that was exclusively at their Japan locations! It was amazing when I ate it, and the atmosphere at this location is amazing too. The service is always top notch and I have the best time at this place. It is a must see restaurant for Los Angeles. This place is great for parties, date nights, or a place to bring the family. Thanks for making me fall in love with your restaurant and now I know how dumplings should taste.

Absolute gem! Some of the best flavors I’ve had in my life. Excellent environment, they have a grill right in the middle of the restaurant. Seats around it as well as booths. We waited for about 25 minutes. And it was well worth it. I would wait more! Instead of water you get fresh tea!

Din Tai Fung is always a must whenever we’re in the area — it’s one of those places we keep coming back to because the food is consistently satisfying. When it’s just the two of us, we have our go-to order and somehow manage to finish everything every time! On our most recent visit, we discovered a surprisingly delicious combo: mixing the spicy wontons with the sesame noodles. The balance of heat, nuttiness, and savory flavor made it such a perfect bite — we’ll definitely be ordering that duo again. The only downside to this location is the wait time, which can get pretty long, especially during peak hours. But once you’re seated, the service is efficient and the food comes out fairly quickly. If you’re willing to wait, the food is always worth it. It’s a solid spot for comforting, flavorful Taiwanese classics.

This was our fist time here. We tried a little of everything, about 10 dishes. The food is very fresh. The soy noodles were delicious. The lychee cocktail was very good. Service was really great too.

So good! It never disappoints! We went on a Thursday at lunch and only waited 20 minutes! We were thrilled to dine at one of our favorite Los Angeles restaurants!

It’s quite a popular restaurant; throughout our meal, there was a long line of people waiting for takeaway that never really got shorter. The atmosphere is not particularly fancy, so you might be disappointed if that’s what you’re expecting. Overall, the dishes we tried were tasty, though the overall flavor level was slightly below some of the better Asian restaurants. The wonton was especially delicious, and the service was fast and attentive.

One of my favorites. It’s an iconic place for soup dumplings and also has extensive menu for all the other staples such as rice cakes, noodles, soups, drinks, desserts etc! Came back here for the tik tok hacks. Tried the sesame noodles mixed with spicy wontons and the chocolate mochi dipped in sea salt cream. Honestly you can never go wrong! It’s usually crowded, but today I utilized reservations on Yelp- super helpful and definitely recommend. Service was great, our waiter was courteous and kind. My go to dishes are usually the hot & sour soup, pork chop with fried rice and green beans. If you opt for the dumplings, ask for a side of the chili sauce and dip away. I would drink it if I could. Ambiance is always nice.

My first time. I enjoyed seeing the kitchen at work and the cooks were very entertaining (at least while I was there). Great for kids because they can watch the magic of making dumplings. Reservations are a must. I wouldn't expect to be seated quickly without them. With that said, sure, ya could get away without reservations by dining in the bar (20-30 min wait). Not a great place for groups (over 4), but once seated, orders come quickly. We were a party of 5, they wouldn't bring an extra chair for a small child but to be fair, we booked for 4 with hopes of a booth. They offered a booth but 30-45 min wait (but we had a movie to catch, so youngest sat on our lap). Overall, tasty. This is dumplings and carbs, so yes, it's a bunch of little appetizers but they'll hit the spot. Order the soup wonton, it's a pleasant surprise. Great place for bringing visitors who haven't seen hand-made dumplings/wantons/noodles.
