My first time in LA. I was driving down Century Blvd trying to figure out what to eat for lunch. I passed by and saw the Dulan sign. I saw it was soul food, just like my grandma's, so i made a u turn 😋. So glad I did! I purchased the baked fish lunch special. My sides were mac n cheese and candied yams. Let me just say the portions you are given are meals within themselves! I thought to myself, I'm definitely going to need a nap! I wanted fried fish but it was a 30 minute wait. I was willing to wait but my first thought was wanting baked fish, so that was my sign that I needed baked😅 The service was so warming like family. I also ordered a small strawberry lemonade and banana pudding. I know I said lunch buuutt I had to order dessert...it was my first time here! The wait time was less than 10 minutes. I thought it was a sit down place but they had outside sitting only. It was such a lovely patio setting! Now to the taste! Everything 👏🏿was 👏🏿 HITTIN', slapping, da bomb, knarley, whatever jargon you use for good ...it was THAT! no complaints from me! Oh and the little muffins...I wanted to hug somebody granny, it was just icing on the cake. I will be back every time I visit LA. Like everyone needs this in their life

Black Owned Gold. April 2025 UPDATE: 1 Strong Suggestion: Trim the Fat Membrane of of The Short Ribs. I shouldn't have to fight for my life to FIND the meat on a Short Rib! Not for almost $30 a plate!!! Y'all hurt my feelings AND my pockets with that. *Sad face* NO COMPLAINTS OUTSIDE OF THAT. That Sweet Potato....... MOUTH DROOLING.

I usually order the smothered pork chops it's my favorite. Yesterday I ordered the smothered chicken with dressing and it was so good. My favorite soul food place in this area. Highly recommend! They load the plates up as well. The sweet tea is the bomb!

Recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. We had to stand outside and order our food at a window and pick it up at the side window. The person taking order was not very helpful with the menu and kind of rushed us but it was a line so I chucked it up to that. We ordered the meatloaf dinner with Mac and cheese and yams and my husband got collars and Mac and cheese along with sweet tea. I dont eat everyone's meatloaf but was craving it and I am soooo happy I did. It was some of the best meatloaf I have eaten. The yams were delicious as well and my fav side. They gave a lot of food and had leftovers for the following day and more. The tea was amazing as well but my husband did say it was mixed with lemonade so wasn't real tea but was delicious. Hidden gem and will make sure to visit again when in the area.

Chicken stand with fries and baked chicken options. There’s no indoor seating but there are a few outdoor tables (no table service). There’s a small parking lot to the side. Came here around 7pm on a Saturday night and there wasn’t a line, but a long one formed shortly after we ordered. You can order online ahead. Pickup is at the window facing the street, and they’ll call your receipt number when your order is ready. Credit cards accepted. We opted for the family combo, which came with four cornbreads and choice of three sides. We got red beans, Mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes and gravy. They were out of wings and legs when we were there so we just tried the breasts and thighs. I really liked the Mac and cheese as the side, and the red beans were hearty. The chicken was a bit old when we visited but the flavor was still good. The breading wasn’t too thick and though the breast was dry, the thighs were juicier. They gave us hot sauce upon request, which is housemade and had a nice cayenne flavor.

Disappointing to me... But did eat half and got full. Would not eat again, and not sure if I would recommend. I will say almost all the food I've tasted in California is a bit different and not really to my liking! Loved the atmosphere and the lady took order was sweet❤ Muffins were the best thing for me.

I ordered the fried fish lunch special. Sadly to say I was not impressed like I thought I was going to be. My cornbread muffins were burned, literally black around the edges, my fish had a good crunch but over cooked, the Mac and cheese was a complete fail. The yams were my favorite part.

Friend and I went for lunch, wanting homestyle flavor, I ordered meatloaf, collard greens, cornbread dressing. The meatloaf seemed to be made with some type of soy mixed with the ground beef. I cannot describe the texture except that it was thick and processed as from a vacuum sealed package, no flavor whatsoever. The greens were cooked well, perhaps canned, but again zero flavor. The dressing was from a box as well. For $20 the portions were acceptable, but overall I wouldn't recommend this spot. We went to the one on Century near Western. We ate outside. Aa the weather permitted.

Service was nice the young girls are nice, HOWEVER the food? The oxtail dinner was TRASH 😩 oxtail barely any flavor, just bland meat and the greens were terrible they tasted burnt.. the Yams for sure taste like they from a Can..can’t tell me otherwise… waste of my 27$ my granny cook waaaaaaay better than this place

This placed was overhyped. I’m from Florida so when it comes to southern cook especially oxtails I’ve tried so many and know what the best ones taste like and this wasn’t it. The collards and cabbage was very bland. The cabbage had a hint of sweetness but still lacked flavor. Smothered pork chops lacked flavor as well and the oxtails and macaroni were lacking in flavor also. Pretty much everything we ordered. We need up giving it away to homeless people. It’s unfortunate because the food looks so good. But the taste fails to hit the mark.

I’m beyond disappointed with Dulan’s Soul Food on Century. I paid $148 for this meal, and it was a complete waste of money. The food tasted old and reheated — like it had been sitting for days. The oxtails were dry, the rice was stale, the chicken was dry and tough, the yams were hard, and the cabbage was awful. Nothing tasted fresh or seasoned with care. For the price I paid, I expected a real soul food experience, but this was the worst I’ve ever had in California. Such a huge letdown — never again! update***** I appreciate the swift reply from management. I will be visiting the Manchester location soon, as a friend of mine mentioned that this branch consistently provides delicious and fresh food.

I am so disappointed and mad, a waste of money I got oxtails Mac n cheese dressing and greens, I don’t know which item is the worst, unseasoned rice hard Mac n cheese have no taste, dressing is disgusted and the greens horrible, and it wasn’t cheap

I have given up on Dulan's because of two unpleasant experiences in a row. Ordered four dinners on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Order 270868134. Two turkey wing dinners and two fried chicken dinners. This was a delivery order. When I received the order, the turkey wing dinners were placed in a bag together. Both dinners were packed sideways in the bag and all the contents were spilled in the bag from very sloppy packing. The supervisor on duty by the name of of Ashley was very rude. Told me I could get a refund for only one plate. I told her that was unacceptable since it was their negligence in packing the order properly that caused my food to be delivered in a big mess. I had a similar situation a few weeks earlier when I ordered 4 Sunday dinners and they were delivered without the drinks. The restaurant didn't want to take responsibility of their mistake at that time as well. I was told I could come in and pick-up the missing drinks if I wanted them. That was absolutely ridiculous because I paid for delivery and wasn't going to go across town to pick up something they forgot to include with the order. The owner of this location should be aware of what is going on at this establishment. The customer service skills of the so-called supervsior and manager at this location is absolutely horrendous. I will in no way continue to patronize this location or any other Dulan's location. At the time I am writing this review, I still haven't received a refund on the two damaged dinners that I received on 12/22. I suggest anyone think twice about ordering any food from this location, becauae you will be guaranteed to receive the same type of lousy service that I received. Take your money and patronize establishments that really value their customers, but Dulan's clearly does not value customers!
