Loved the aesthetics of this place. Great music and good drinks.

Awesome quiet place for cocktails and conversation before the late night rush of crazies!

Fun...I was there during a KCRW event. Well staffed and easy to get service.

Been here a few times and recently hosted my birthday here. Super reasonable price to get a table for a group and the music is always on point.

Hipster Chinese setting in the heart of Chinatown. Solid cocktails, great seating, terrific classic soul playlist. Usually when it's DJ time at a bar, I'll peace. However, in two times here the DJ had just transitioned to live funk and soul and it's great. A+.

It is a really stylish bar in the middle of a Chinatown outdoor shopping mall. When you come inside you will be surprised at how big it is. The drinks are great and the bartender will serve your drink in a hurry which is all you can ask for after a hard day of work and the start of a night of partying. Definitely worth the trip and be sure to order a Buddha beer for me!

Played a few records here, center of iconic Chinatown in LA. Loved the vibe, they cater to good music and real DJs here which I love. Also have some wildly good cocktails!

The staff here is beyond amazing. I needed some assistance with a thing, and everyone was extremely kind and helpful. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Also the drinks, the music, everything is awesome!

Renovated the old Mountain Bar and better than before. Swank but cozy now with cool drinks, good music and an eclectic crowd. Sit down tables to hangout in with a DJ upstairs to dance. Good drink selection, fair prices.

Great bar in the neighborhood. Depends on when you go the vibe can change. Overall drinks are on point. My friends love this place and we always have a great time!

At 130 years old, General Lee's isn't any old cocktail house, it is part of the establishment. I have had some of the best times of my life in this place. Do visit, and don't forget to get your fortune told first, in the little shack across the way.

Very cool place. We came to watch the Jazz every Tuesday night. Great spot and great Jazz !

I General Lee love all the drinks here ;) General Lee makes super creative, super fun, and INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS drinks. They also have HAPPY HOUR 6-9pm with $7 cocktails! My picks from their Chinese Fables menu: 1 Little Rose (with lavender, lychee, rose water, egg white, lemon, creme de violette) 2 the Empty Pot (enough for 5 shot glasses, meant to be SHARED! With baijiu and loquat) 3 an Immortal Elixir (Rosemary on fire! super refreshing and fragrant) 4 Kind Birds (With pear brandy!) They also have a DJ that spins hip hop and other super easy dance beats on the weekends. Looooove this place!

Very cool two-story bar with lots of seating and a bar on each level. We had some time to kill before another event so we got there early (around 9 PM) on a Saturday night and there wasn't a line. We walked by later around 11-11:30 PM and the line was out the door and down the street. Good DJ that night too. Worth visiting again!

Love this place. Lived down the street from it for 2 years and frequented a whole lot. Always great vibes. No cover. Shout out to Otis Williams for being a great bouncer. Drinks are superb and tenders are quick and nice. Very lenient with letting you out for a smoke as well. Gonna miss coming here so often but will definitely make my returns

Pretty small place. Everyone who works here is great. Bartenders are friendly and security hands out water bottles when they close and I even saw them helping out this guy who was way too drunk look for his group.

The best Club in LA. The music was so great. I love the trap music, hip hop, r&b. It was such a vibe. It's very hard to find places like this in LA.

Good vibes at night but also very millennial. Super nice bartender who took the time to answer our questions about the drinks

H

Chic yet casual nightclub with excellent DJs spinning rap and dance hits. Come for the music. Stay for the drinks and the dancing. Outside there is a nice patio to cool off if needed. Security and bartenders were hospitable. Will go again.

Trendy lo-fi, multilevel lounge with aesthetic decor, cocktails, and music. Lots to discover is this hideaway. Perfectly located in the heart of China Town with the theme to match.

An excellent place to stop and enjoy incredibly well prepared cocktails in a luxe environment that enhances your inner calm. Or you can also stay for the DJs.

Out of all the places I’ve been for drinks and dancing in LA, this is the place I’ve been the most. Ambiance ranges from bourgeoise to ratchet depending on the night. Come with cash because your bartender is sure to please you ⁎*⋆ฺ࿐˞͛

I was here on a Monday night in January and The vibes were immaculate. Two stories draped with some very impressive house plants. Two bars, one upstairs and one down, but only the downstairs one was operational when I was there. There is a friendly bouncer at the entrance but no line and there was no cover charge when I visited. The entrance directly opens to the wishing well. They don't have a patio space but there are some benches outside if you wanted fresh air or to make the air outside less fresh 😉. There was plenty of seating inside and plenty of excellent locations for people watching and wall flowering on this evening. There were a bunch of people there but there was still pretty good flow and it wasn't muggy at all which I really appreciate. I ordered a Lucky Buddha Lager which was only eight bucks. If you know that beer, the green glass doesn't protect the lager very well from light exposure so if it's been on the shelf too long, it's not good, but this one was really good so I think they turn that beer over pretty quickly. They have a pretty fancy / fun cocktail menu and the crowd was really friendly. I didn't look for the restroom at all on this visit but the fact that I didn't notice a line for the restroom tells me it wasn't too crowded either. I will definitely visit again soon.

i got a beer here, and it was alright. this place is more known for hosting mahjong underground every thursday - people just come here to play mahjong + get drinks. it was my first time playing it and everybody was very welcoming and taught me how to play it. very cool experience!

First time visiting General Lee’s, and I will definitely be back as I love this place 👍 Very big! Downstairs has a bar area as well as a places to sit, chat, and relax. Upstairs has a larger bar area, and an even larger sitting/dancing area. After 10pm there were DJs playing on both levels. Lots of fun to be had. Bathrooms were on point also! Our bartender Ian was awesome, and both of the drinks I was suggested were amazing… Highly recommended!

I had a phenomenal time at this bar and the main reason was Phillip. He was a great bartender who was fast, communicative and friendly. There was a large group of people and he held it down, and got to everyone promptly. This bar is lucky to have someone like Phillip. I can’t wait to come back

Awesome weekend nightlife spot. Music is great, bouncers are friendly, speakers are super high quality (strong bass) and not overly-loud, and free self-serve water. The Ringmaster goji berry cocktail is phenomenal. Only downside is it gets very congested and kinda hard to move around.

Monday Mahjong is my will to live. General Lee's is an eclectic spot with very unique drinks. Lots of space and a good vibe. I wish they would have more than one bartender because mohawk man is working HARD to take care of us. Or at least someone upstairs!

Came here around midnight on a Saturday night. It was fun! No wait to get in and people were great. They play R&B mixes. There's a dancefloor and a small area to sit, next to the DJ. Parking can be found on the street. It can be found in the plaza across where Rush Hour was filmed, the first one; Chris Tucker: "I don't want no soul food but how you gonna sell me a box of grease?" Old Chinese man: "No soul food here, I ain't no punk *!?&+ !"

W

High end hipster bar. Fancy $14 cocktails. Beautiful atmosphere. Good place to impress a date. I ordered the "mountain" she ordered "penetrating wind". Both very good.

Came here on a Tuesday night for a small private mixer so only the 2nd floor bar was open for us. The entrance and signage for this bar is so nondescript that we walked right past the door before looking around and noticing the doorman. At first blush, I thought the name was a bit kitschy for a bar in the heart of Chinatown but you have to respect historical kitsch. The lighting was very muted so I couldn't really appreciate the details that went into revitalizing this space. What I could see was an inviting 1950's era living room with a well-stocked 3-sided bar manned by 2 bartenders serving up beautiful looking fancy drinks. A trip to the bathroom revealed an ornate hand-wash fountain contrasting a simple hallway lined with enclosed red-doored stalls. With a drive ahead, I opted for a single Wednesday Cat Witbier suggested by the dapper barkeep. Delicious beer but a bad idea letting a cat tangle with the large catfish po boy I just ate. For the Chinese New Year, they came up with a namesake drink called the Monkey Paw. I can't remember all the ingredients but I believe it had cognac (surprise) and two other classy spirits. If I get a chance to come here again, I would sidle up for a paw.

Moderately priced bar lounge with an underground feel. Killer DJ spinning 90s hits and millennial hipster bartenders, so something for everyone. Not a full bar, so be open to what they do have.

Always crammed and stuffy, but they've had some good music the couple times i've been. Drinks are pretty standard. Expect a line, but i'm glad i've never had to pay a cover!

I just needed a cool chill out spot for a few, as I had some time on my hands. I actually found street parking in Chinatown so, thanking my lucky stars, I hoofed the 3 blocks over to General Lee's. I got there early on Saturday night so the music wasn't really popping yet, but the path to the bar was clear. Seriously, order one of the specialty drinks. They are the Bomb! DJ's are consistently good here. But they save their best stuff for when the crowds roll in. Can't blame em for that. Always a good time. B back again soon!

Great cocktail bar in Chinatown. LA prices for cocktails but a very nice place though the music can get a quite loud on weekends when the DJ starts playing. Music makes it more like a club which doesn't fit into the ambiance and the area.

Idk how much anything costs - I don't handle that. What I do know is that the man at the door is a gentleman, the people looked good, the music was great, everyone behaved well, and the drinks were nice They def need more space. It was too packed for me(literally, u can't move in some areas), so I walked in, drank my drink, and went back outside. You can still hear the music out there. If they could get permission to use the outside, too, they would dominate the nightlife scene, and it would be so pretty and lovely <3

Finally stopped by General Lee’s! So many recommendations and good reviews, I had to. On a Saturday night; it was a packed house. Solid, inventive cocktail menu. (No food served here) They also serve red wine and Cava. A plus if you ask me. Every server I talked to was nice. Good Dj and good music. A cool hang out in the middle of Chinatown. Unpretentious and eclectic crowd. Loved it! Maybe more bathrooms downstairs would be nice? But I’ll be back ASAP! Happy holidays everyone!

They do not serve food at this establishment. If you are buying a section, you can bring in outside food (finger foods only) for your group. The establishment is cozy and decorated nicely. There are two floors and two different DJ's playing different genres of music. The dance floors get packed with people and it gets hard to move. Ladies: don't wear crazy high heels because the floors get slippery, as people drop their drinks. The bathrooms are gender neutral and a crazy line forms as the night progresses. If you buy a section, they serve you this spiked punch. Everybody loved it and you definitely get buzzed before the night is done.

I stopped by during one of their mahjong events Thursday night. It was crowded. I would have like for them to have a bit more variety of mocktails, overall we had a good time with friends but since it was crowded we didn't get the chance to play mahjong. Some mentioned there were a lot pro players. There was also a dance area so that was nice

Not sure what happened to this place, but it turned into hipster central. the crowd is diverse in that there is pretty much no dress code. Not a classy place, but a good place for a chill atmosphere with a DJ on weekend nights. Some makeshift dancing may occur. Drinks are decent but pricey for what they are.

Never knew there was nightlife in LA Chinatown until some friends suggested General Lee’s for a night out. Don’t be fooled by the name or the fact it’s in Chinatown though. Most of the patrons and staff were not Asian. It’s a decent space with 2 levels but gets crowded, especially downstairs around the bar and restrooms next to it. Only 1 of the 2 restrooms were functioning the night we went. In the upstairs area, there’s a bit more room to dance, and there are sofas if you want to relax for a minute. Cocktails are unique blends, not really to my liking, but at least they’re more creative than standard club cocktails.

Went on the weekend and it was crazy busy. Everyone inside was in their early 20's and it was super loud. Everyone seemed to be having a good time but for me it was just way to crazy. Good for the owner to have a packed house but if your not into being crammed into a small room dont go on a friday night.

The atmosphere on Jazz Tuesdays is fantastic, definitely a 10/10. However, the bartender took 20 minutes to serve me, and when I finally ordered a beer, she went to serve other people at the bar. Additionally, she prepared the drinks with her bare hands, handling the fruit after touching her hair and receiving money, which I found unhygienic.

Great drinks! Great service! Great music! Great place! Went back a week later and they failed to implement their dress policy accordingly. They only told some people not everyone. My friend raised the issue so he walked around with one of the employees to make certain that anyone and everyone who violated their non posted non enforced dress policy was informed and was being compliant. About 30 minutes later a gwntlemen walked in violating the dress code, but bothing was said to him. Again, when the question was raised, we received excuses after excuses. We left and rossed the street and had a better time with much better drinks at the other establishment. We will NEVER return to this place ever again.
