Mexicali is great. The tacos are delicious, overflowing with flavorful meat and toppings and super cheap! I prefer the asada tacos - absolutely top-tier. They have an incredible salsa bar too.

Their al pastor is best around. Lots of flavor and smokiness. Their carne asada is a bit chewy for my likeness. The chicken taco is definitely one of the best. As a Mexican what I always look for at a taco restaurant/taqueria is how good their salsas are. Definitely their two most spicy are really good and tasty.

Had some amazing food here and I would so recommend trying if you have the opportunity to. I had the carne asada Vampiro and was absolutely blown away by the first bite and well every one after. I also had a shrimp taco which was spectacular and split some of the Mexicali fries that were piled high with goodness and some of the best al pastor that I have had before. 100/10, go at least once and you'll want to return. Guaranteed

This is a really small place you wouldn't really pass by unless you knew it existed, coz there aren't many restaurants around. But my, is the food good?! I found the place online when going through some LA must-eats before a vacation, and it was definitely worth the trip. I had the Chicken Vampiro Quesadilla, couldn't miss out on that now could I, and it was so good! I requested them to use corn tortillas instead of the flour ones, and since those were smaller they made me kind of like a quesadilla sandwich. It was just loaded with meat, and that great garlic sauce. Such an amazing dish. There didn't seem to be any cheese in there, which was good. I also tried the Chicken Cachetada without cheese, and it was a crispy corn tortilla with another large amount of chicken and their Chipotle aioli. The sauce was nice and spicy, which was just what I was hoping for. I wasn't a fan of the crispy tortilla though, so I think next time I'd just go for a regular quesadilla version instead. My boyfriend hot the Queso Fundido with chicken, and he really enjoyed it. It came with guacamole and 3 watm soft tortillas. I was expecting the Queso to be a little more on in the liquid side, so it was a bit too thick for me. I wasn't too big a fan of the dish as a whole, guess Monterey Jack isn't my kinda cheese. He also got a horchata, which was good. Not too sweet like most others out there. The quantity was also decent. The woman at the counter was the sweetest ever, and got along well with all the customers. There also seemed to be some regulars, this place is clearly a hidden gem. Would definitely go back for the Vampiro Quesadilla! P S. They do accept credit cards, with a $8 minimum.

Scenery: The place could have used a bit more light inside. You can probably see from the pictures I posted that it was quite dim despite the great amount California sun outside. The picnic tables inside did feel a little weird to me, but they sufficed my needs. Service: Although I came in minutes before closing, the lady at the counter still took my order and served my food. I was impressed. She truly was sweet! Savor: I had the chorizo taco and it tasted great. I really liked that they had sauces and toppings readily available on a cart in the corner of the room.

This place is pretty good, but a bit too pricey for my taste. Food quality is decent, service is great, but it’s just a tiny bit high in terms of entry cost. Burrito left me feeling like I wanted more. However, the Zuperman (three meats and cheese between two harina tortillas) at $10.98 was pretty solid. All in all a good local choice but probably won’t be back all that frequently, despite being walking distance from my apt.

First time here, plenty of paid/ metered parking, the did mess up part of our order but, very good menu, food is delicious and huge portions. Very fair prices, friendly staff, very clean restaurant, lots of options, tons of seating, inside and out. Highly recommend and have already gone back.

Great salsa selection. The taco dorados have the perfect crunch — very tasty chicken tinga. The queso fundido is great with the cauliflower.

My mom invited me to this place since she really enjoyed it. I ended up enjoying it as well. I ordered two shrimp tacos and one mexicali taco with asada. The carne asada isn’t the very best in my opinion…it was very hard to chew on and the flavor of it was bland.. But I really LOVED their shrimp tacos!! I put the guac and hot salsa in them and it was the best flavor ever! They have a little stand with condiments that you can put in your tacos and utensils, sandwich bags, etc. The beans are very delicious as well.

Good casual Baja Mexico food. The salsa bar is phenomenal. The Al Pastor was not as crispy as I'd like, but everything else was on point. The Vampiro was my favorite and is for a garlic lovers. We added eggs to our dishes. Strongly recommend visiting.

This place has fallen off. I can no longer suggest this place to my friends and family. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos and a torta with drinks. Total came out to $52. When you charge that much, the food needs to absolutely slap, no exception. The Shrimp tacos had stale and hard tortillas and mind you; we dined in! The Torta was also off and lacked the finesse of aioli and spread that used to be applied. Not good. I am not sure if the head chef was absent or retired but it is not the same. I'll try one more time and it's not looking good for this place.
