Opinions de endorffeine Los Angeles
We were on a tour of LA coffee spots over Christmas break and this one stood out online as one that would be serious about the coffee and not just a 3rd space to post up and work, where the owner is the barista and actually cares about coffee. We were right and the experience was great. First I have to say it is in the top 3 of all the places we went as far as flavor of the coffee goes. Watching Jack work was like watching a scientist work in the lab. He tossed out the first pull of my espresso because it seemed he wasn’t satisfied with it. I had a cortado and my partner had a pour over they were both amazing and we sat to savor them at his bar. We quietly watched him work while classical played in the background. I appreciate they don’t offer sugar to adulterate the coffee drinks. It made me giggle that there’s no PDA allowed but I completely get it and also appreciate the no cell phone noise allowed policy. Once we finished our drinks Jack asked us how they were and we “talked coffee for a few minutes” He recommended some other great places to visit as well. I love how serious he is about his craft and you can tell he has a passion for coffee and how he presents it as an experience that is a reflection of his personality. If you go here, go with reverence for the bean and the craft and you will have a wonderful experience. I completely disagree with anyone who says that they didn’t find this place hospitable, I felt the care and execution of the experience provided the utmost hospitality. We will definitely make it a repeat place to visit when we are in town again even if it is out of our way. This place is for serious coffee enthusiasts who are interested in experiencing how the background and experiences of an individual come through in the extraction of this delicious bean. You don’t just experience coffee here, it’s the experiences of a person and their passion for coffee.
If there is such a thing as a ‘Master Barista’, this is where you’ll find one. Superb experience, flawless and delicious coffee, in a relaxing space that puts coffee at the centre of the experience. Dare I say it, best coffee in LA and one of the best in the US.
I can divide my coffee experiences before and after endorffeine. The level of attention Jack put to every single cup is impressive. Respect!!
Best coffee place ever. It truly elevated my palate and appreciation for coffee. Each cup strikes a perfect balance of flavor and depth—but to fully enjoy his creations, you need to be a true coffee enthusiast. His brewing is a blend of art and science, and you’ll find yourself admiring the craft as much as the taste. Too bad, I don't live in LA. :(
For anyone who is on a serious coffee journey, this is the Super Bowl of coffee experiences. Jack is a biochemist who meticulously brews every cup. You go here for pour overs or espressos. Think of Jiro for sushi, that is Jack for coffee. You feel like you are transported to Japan, and the ambience is more like a temple or a shrine. There isn't a lot of noise, despite being across from howling ray's, no music, no laptops or plush seating. You are there to experience coffee taken to a level that's previously unknown, to unlock the secrets of the molecule that only a few shamans have been privy. That you need to be patient is a given. This is not a place for large groups. There's counter seating around Jack, as he extracts the flavors from the bean du jour. While his cousin manages the till. You wait patiently and then take your time to savor the heavenly brew, taking time to let your nose pick the sweet, the acidity, the soul of the bean. The taste profile changes to the sublime as you get closer to room temperature. Jack is meticulous, I hesitate to use the word perfectionist as he may not agree. He may toss out a cup that isn't up to his exalted mark. You are witnessing an artisan at work, who won't compromise. I have a soft spot for the pour over, however even the espresso is a masterclass in high pressure bean extraction. Last time we spoke, Jack mentioned a possible collaboration with Diego Bermudez, my absolute favorite roaster, who have a heavenly lychee forward Colombian light roast. That would be the dream, mad hacker Diego's beans, and rocket scientist Jack's extraction. There's great coffee shops in LA from Kumquat to Maru, Dayglow to the Boy and the Bear, Good Boy Bob to Loquat, but there's only one Endorffeine. This will never be a chain, or run by employees. If I could, I'd be here everyday, but a trip to coffee heaven is a special treat I look forward to. Tip: Park across the street a few blocks south for relatively low cost metered parking options.
As far as I am concerned there are truly only two things that can and will taint the precious purity of coffee: sugar and romance, and this fine establishment rightly outlawed both (see fig. 2). But don’t worry about feeling Footloose—at least, as far as I can tell, there’s no ban on dancing... yet. The coffee is crafted with the utmost attention to detail and quality.
If you like specialty coffee, you should visit. An incredible espresso that challenges everything you would expect: 1min extraction, on the longer side. Just amazing. I usually get ristrettos but this was spectacular. Unlike anything I’ve had before. It was served in something that looked like a liqueur glass, which was fitting. The barista has been around for long and apparently likes to experiment. I only went there once. So what you get on your visit will likely be different. But I’d surprised if it was anything but excellent. He told me he had different water recipes prepared. Really methodical guy! The shop itself also goes for something different. Dimly lit, quiet (no laptops, smaller devices must have sound turned off).
2018 through 2020 -I fell in love not just with the rich perfectly brewed coffee but with the warmth and kindness of the owners. It quickly became my go-to spot for a quality cup. ---- 2024 - Four years later and nothing had changed, except maybe my deeper appreciation for it. It was still my favorite coffee shop. Its the kind of place you can never go wrong with. ---- 2025 - The coffee is still as superb as ever. Just like the very first time I tried it back in 2018. I love their Consistency, quality and heart ❤️
My No.1 stop for espresso on the West Coast. I love their bean rotations and always learn about new amazing roasters from here. Undeniably, Jack crafts the most delightful pour over around town: tea-like and packed with beautiful flavors. Their cold brew jug is the best togo item you can get. Of course they have latte too, in their branded cans. Check their social media announcements for coffee classes and occasionally tasting menu events... Jack and Ttaya are absolutely amazing and very friendly! This coffee bar is a gem in old China town.
Coffee was just fuel for me to get through my day. I'd get espresso, macchiato, cortado, sometimes double shot. Taste hardly mattered until I crossed paths with Jack at a cafe by my workplace. I started looking forward to the days he was behind the counter and the cup he would make. My coffee runs became the highlight of my day and I started savoring my coffee. Since then i would regularly get coffee from Jack. Absence during lockdown made me realize and appreciate how distinct the coffee he serves is compared to everything else. I'm no expert but his pour overs and cold brew are like no other. Sometimes fruity, sometimes plummy or bright and citrusy. He also makes the cortado I prefer, with the right temperature, steamed milk that doesn't overpower the coffee, flavorful beans and no burnt taste. Just right.
This place is a lovely nice refuge in the bustle of LA. Very great expierence and absolutely upper rank superb shot of espresso from sey. In my experience their coffee is super light and tough to extract all it offers but when done right it over delivers and that was definitely the case here.
Very particular in the making of each cup, makes me appreciate every sip of my coffee. The cappuccinos were just amazing, I don’t think I ever had such a balanced taste from a cappuccino. Great spot to check out

The cappuccino I ordered at Endorffeine — prepared simply with oat milk — stands out as the most exemplary espresso-milk beverage I have ever had. What is immediately noteworthy is the absence of any bitterness or burnt notes: the espresso’s outer profile was light and nourishing, and the tactile balance with the oat milk preserved clarity rather than masking nuance. Equally striking was the aftertaste, which revealed a delicate, fruity coffee-bean note that I have long been skeptical of when others describe such flavors; here the descriptor felt precise and warranted. It is difficult to reduce the experience to exact terms without resorting to hyperbole, yet the encounter felt genuinely transformative: a confluence of careful extraction, sensitive milk-texturing, and restraint that elevated a simple cappuccino into a memorable sensory event. I offer this assessment with humility and gratitude to the team at Endorffeine — their attention to craft produced an encounter that will influence how I evaluate coffee going forward. I must also acknowledge the kindness and attentiveness of Jack, the owner, who came to the counter where I was seated and, without my prompting, graciously insisted on remaking my cappuccino because the first did not meet his own standards. That level of integrity and care is rare and deeply admirable. Moreover, the warmth of both the staff and the customers created a space that felt genuinely welcoming and earnest — an atmosphere as memorable as the coffee itself. Though I am regrettably an infrequent visitor to Los Angeles, I recommend Endorffeine without reservation to anyone seeking not only a refined coffee experience but also a place of uncommon hospitality.
Delicious hand brew & espresso. Brewed with intention and purpose. The aromas were beautifully highlighted ! We really enjoyed your approach and the conversation with you 2. Already looking forward to our next visit :)
Smoothest coffee I’ve had in LA—velvety yet bold. Industrial-chic decor I loved. Staff know their beans and chat readily. Rare gem for serious coffee fans. Will return
Best espresso in LA & some of the best I’ve had anywhere, period. Jack really takes coffee serious & I respect it so much, he’s an inspiration. I’m from NYC & when I visit LA I make sure Endorffeine’s espresso is part of my morning routine. Can’t wait to visit again & have one of Jacks beautiful espressos.

Endorffeine is for true coffee nerds—the baristas know their beans and love to talk flavor profiles. Their signature pandan latte blew my mind; it’s aromatic and slightly sweet without being overbearing. The space is small and sleek, almost like a science lab. It’s a bit pricey, but you’re paying for quality and precision. Great spot to nerd out on coffee

Drinking coffee is the next best thing that ever happened to me. lol. Let’s begin. Endorffeine is a tiny coffee bar on Broadway in Chinatown, LA. They’re located within an old plaza. It’s dim lit, minimalist design and bare layout gray walls that makes you think you’re in a wet chemistry lab. The menu is quite short with 5 hot and 3 iced drinks. No pastries. However, they sell merch and coffee bags. Moreover, sugar/sweeteners are not available in case you’re wondering. This coffee shop has got me curious for months now but never had a chance until today. Alas I arrived on a cool weekday. I had a hot Cortado ($5.5) with oat milk. It was robust enough to get jolted. Service was absolutely spot on. Atmosphere was chill, very dim lit and quiet for a coffee bar. They prohibit laptops, kissing, sound on cellphones and outside drinks. Yes, Kissing!! Parking ain’t a problem in the area. Staff were incredible. Overall, this is a nice coffee bar with solid coffee.
I had two cups of cappuccino at Endorffeine and they were delicious. However, I feel like Endorffeine is more like a coffee lab than a coffee shop, so I would recommend it only to coffee nerds who cares about just the coffee and nothing else. Endorffeine lacks the coffee shop atmosphere, as if the place is created for the coffee maker, not for coffee drinkers. The shop is tucked in the darkest part of a Chinatown plaza and inside the shop feels like evening even at noon. The store has a neat 270 degree bar equipped with various coffee gears but unfortunately it's not open for seating at the time of my visits. Outside, a dozen chairs are cramped in a small fenced area. Every seat is taped with a huge note prohibiting outside food. It is simply not a welcoming scene. I went to Endorffeine four times and twice it was closed. The announcement was only made only on IG (not on Google), with a Closed sign at the door. Even when it opens, I find it hard to understand what kind of coffee shop opens at 9am and only four days a week?

A bewildering experience. I'm not sure about the type of person I would recommend this place to. We were first in line to order - the four people ahead of us had already been seated - and waited half an hour for our two coffees due to the six drinks ahead of us. So you need to have time to wait. Yet, it didn't seem like the time spent translated into a better cup of coffee. I've had better coffee in Hawaii, Japan, Singapore etc (though not many in LA which might explain Endorffeine's popularity). The place was cold, and the stainless steel counter and paraphernalia made it feel like a lab. It's not particularly warm or inviting, and it doesn't seem like you're encouraged to work there or stay long. Overall, especially given the restricted opening hours, it feels a place more for the brewer than the visitor. Elora LOT #25 ETHIOPIAN LANDRACE HONEY Ethiopia Cappuccino with Sey Elora - 4 stars A pleasant light roast. Given the brew ratio of about 1:4.5 I was suprised the texture of the drink wasn't watered down. I thought I got notes of honey but none of the peach tea/hibiscus/apricot/lime listed. Pourover - 3 stars Too one-dimensional for our tastes. My friend who usually orders pourovers preferred the cappuccino too.

ONLY RECOMMENDED FOR COFFEE PROS If you're not a coffee pro and you're driving by this place, keep driving. There are many coffee shops within a few miles with WAY better coffee and atmosphere, and chill baristas with a great personality (e.g. Kumquat and Eightfold). Like everyone says, the attitude is real here. The only positive was that we were served in glassware outside.
