Opinions de Tacos Tu Madre Los Angeles
Seriously the best tacos I've had. This is a great local spot in Los Feliz and it is decorated super cool. From the paint on the outside to the interior. Tacos of all sorts, I had the KBBQ taco, crispy fish, and braised beef! All were absolutely wonderful but the stand out was the Korean BBQ taco. This is a must go to and I never give out 5 stars. Staff was great, service quick, and most importantly, absolutely delicious! I am now a regular.
This new location is such a hidden gem! Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff, complimentary chips and salsa (the green is a yummy salsa verde, the red one is a smoky chipotle), and water with mint and hibiscus flowers. Throughout our meal, the presentation of each item was truly gorgeous and carefully considered. We got the non-alcoholic agua frescas and their $2 street tacos. The agua frescas were the perfect sweetness. Next time we’ll add tequila 😉 The street tacos are INCREDIBLE! Try all four or just get the brisket and chicken with the cotija cheese sprinkles. We thought those were the best but they were all good. Very filling and a great value. For dessert, we got their famous red velvet churros with cream cheese frosting. Not quite as good as the classic churro but they hit the spot. We arrived around 6pm with prompt service and it was pretty quiet inside and on the patio. By 7pm it picked up, filled with couples, families with their kids, and girlfriends catching up over margarita flights and fried avocado tacos. Service was a bit slow but understandable since it just opened. With the string lights, cute patio chairs and homey vibe, this place is sure be THE next big destination in East LA. My bf and I are so grateful to a wonderful place like Tu Madre in the neighborhood!
Perfect place for a work party, especially during Happy Hour. I arranged for a party of 15+ and the managers were very communicative and accommodating. Everyone loved the food & drinks, and mentioned what a great vibe the restaurant had. Out service was A+ and i would highly recommend the Los Feliz Tu Madres for anyone and any occasion
Brisket breakfast taco - eggs, cheese, salsa / 5 🌟! Honey, sriracha fried chicken breakfast taco - eggs, cheese, salsa / 5 🌟! Crispy fish taco - cod, spicy honey, poblano ranch slaw, pico de gallo, pickled onion / 5 🌟! KBBQ taco - asian marinade steak, kimchi, avocado, tomatillo salsa Chips and salsa / 5 🌟! Tacos Tu Madre in Los Feliz migrated a few blocks over to a much larger space on Hillhurst, and the move was a great idea. They space they relocated to has a huge, shaded patio, and with how great LA weather is, it is a perfect spot to enjoy some great tacos. The food was fantastic and creative. I went with a taco sampler, two breakfast, two regular and four was a LOT of food. Two or three would be filling, especially with the fresh tortilla chips and salsas they offer. There were a lot of flavor options on the menu, and everything looked great. The four I settled on were perfect for my tastes. Tu Madre has multiple locations around LA. Parking for Los Feliz was not something I noticed since I was able to just walk over but knowing the neighborhood, it won't be too hard to find street parking.
Loved this place, agree with other reviewers that service can be hit or miss but I would not hold it against this place and still encourage you to give it a try! It is clear that team members really care and would like the guests to have best experience. Thats being said, food is good and drinks are strong. I would suggest ordering street tacos instead of regular tacos from the menu, in my opinion, I didnt really notice much of difference, liked the street tacos. Chipotle cauliflower was a perfect appetizer and would for sure order that again. Really glad we came here, will be coming back.
Loved everything about this restaurant! The atmosphere, service and food were tops. Our favorites were the pastrami taco and the spicy margarita! Will be back soon with a larger group from work.
This place is such a fun little find! The chips and guac were super fresh, and the carne asada tacos were so good. Prices weren’t too bad either, which made everything even better. The restaurant has such a cute vibe, almost like you’re eating in a treehouse. Great food, fun atmosphere, and I’m already planning to come back soon!
Had a great time at Tu Madre last night. Food and service was great and was perfect for a casual business dinner. Can’t wait to go back! ❤️🔥
Suuper delicious food in a converted craftsman house that has great vibes. The staff all is awesome. And a great plant-based menu! Can't go wrong
My boyfriend and I came in for some tacos before a concert and we were really happy with our experience. The tacos were so flavorful and the variety was amazing. Everything tasted great and service was quick and very friendly. Would definitely come here again!
Great happy hour and fun vibe, fun food and fun drinks like margaritas with flowers to fit with floral feel! Even a squash bloom burrito... we ate more traditional w brisket, chicken and fish tacos -- all great!
Tu Madre consistently attracts taco lovers with its inventive menu and lively atmosphere. Guests praise the flavorful tacos and burritos, including standout options like grilled shrimp and vegan jackfruit carnitas, as well as unique fusion‑style tacos that mix classic and modern tastes. The restaurant also offers tasty craft cocktails and refreshing margaritas, adding to the fun dining experience. Many appreciate the friendly service and cozy, casual vibe, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family.
Absolutely loved the outdoor patio - it's shaded and beautifully done up. The heat lamps didn't overheat us either haha. Excellent food and drinks, and superlative service from the staff. Great spot for a date or even a big group dinner or celebration. It was my birthday, so they brought out a sparkler on churros which was so sweet and delicious.
I just passed by this place while I was on my night walk, and decided I wanted to stop in and see this place. I had a lot of questions, Mariah my server was very helpful with my excessive questions, and the bartender Luis made me a nice handcrafted Cucumber spicy margarita. They gave me some menu recommendations of crispy shrimp and potato taquitos, which both were 9.99/10!! Thank you guys for hosting me at your lovely spot tonight. I’ll be back and tell my friends about it
Love, Love, Love TU MADRE. Hands down, BEST quesadilla I've ever had, and I didn't think there was that much of a difference until Tu Madre's. Fabulous atmosphere, incredible staff. The ambience is just incredible. Highly Recommend. I will go there everytime I'm back in LA to the Los Feliz location :)
This was my first time at Tu Madre and will not be my last. I ordered a braised beef burrito and it was delicious. Definitely the best burrito I have ever had in my life. The employees were polite and friendly. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and the ambiance was welcoming and relaxing at the same time. I enjoyed the service.
We order from here constantly and really enjoy! Decided to eat in and had a blast. Terrific service, and the vibe is top-notch. Imagine eating in a friends craftsman bungalow, high design, whimsical and comfortable !
Great patio ambiance, excellent service, and terrific food. Between four of us we ordered tacos, taquitos, burritos, and bowls -- all excellent, as we're the margaritas! Definitely going to be regulars at Tu Madre.
The vibes were amazing, a perfect way to start a Sunday afternoon. They got a little thing for everybody, from your vegan friends to your meat lovers. The staff was great, even when they were busy, they made sure to take care of us and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Would definitely recommend their non-meat options, familiar and elevated flavors
I honestly didn’t even realize there was a Tacos to Madres so close to my house, so once I found out, I had to go check it out and I’m so glad I did. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is everything. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with a tropical, relaxing feel that’s very natural and calming. It’s the kind of place you instantly want to sit down, unwind, and enjoy your meal. And of course, the food did not disappoint , delicious as always. I loved that this location offers margaritas, so I went straight for a margarita flight. My favorite flavor by far was the tamarindo. For food, I ordered a mix of classic street tacos and some of their more seasoned, topped tacos. The fried chicken taco really stood out: super crunchy, sweet and spicy, with honey that tied everything together and coleskaw on top. I also had their street corn, which is always a solid choice, and one of their must-have items, the grilled shrimp bowl. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. What really made the experience even better was the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with our ordering and walking us through the menu. They kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything, which really makes you feel comfortable and well cared for something that truly stands out at restaurants. Overall, everything here was amazing from the atmosphere to the drinks to the food and service. Definitely check out the photos, because once you see them, you’ll know this is a spot you absolutely have to try. 🌮✨
Just visited Tu Madre Los Feliz and honestly… such a vibe. It’s a swaggy little bungalow turned restaurant with tons of character, plus plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for chill hangs or casual meetups. The menu is creative and fun, from their unique drink options to flavorful tacos, burritos, and bowls. Everything feels fresh, playful, and thoughtfully done. Great atmosphere, great food, and an overall dope neighborhood spot. Definitely coming back. 🌮🍹
Amazing experience at Tu Madre! The team was so accommodating and patient with us while dining with our 3-year-old. The food is fresh, flavorful, and delicious, and the drinks are excellent. Such a welcoming place—we loved it.
Such a cute place with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Plenty of seating indoors and out!! Love the vibe of this place. Ordered the street tacos, quesadilla, and grilled chicken burrito! All were fantastic. Staff was super friendly and attentive, even though it was pretty busy! Cannot wait to come back to Tu Madre!
I honestly have nothing bad to say about my experience here. The waiter was friendly, the decors were so cool and inviting. The margarita was great and the tacos and burritos were amazing. Loved the churros too. One of my favorite Mexican spots now
We had an amazing experience at Tu Madre. The food was truly spectacular. Even the water they bring at the beginning is special, infused with mint and beautifully decorated with flowers, which already sets the tone for everything that comes next. The drinks were delicious. I ordered the mango chamoy and although the chamoy flavor was a bit strong, it was still really good. We tried the strip corn, nachos and a burrito and every single dish was outstanding. Fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The location is also perfect. The sun hits just right and you get that beautiful golden hour glow while you’re eating. The ambiance is gorgeous, boho, warm and beautifully decorated. Everything feels intentional and inviting.
Food was great. Service was great. Restaurant was clean. Their fish tacos were awesome. They also have great plant based options.
Tu Madre is one of those spots where every plate that comes out looks like it was made to impress. From tacos and burritos to loaded nachos and quesadillas, the menu is packed with bold flavors and creative combinations. Everything tastes fresh and layered with flavor — juicy meats, warm tortillas, melted cheese, and toppings that bring the perfect balance of spice and crunch. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they’re putting on the plate. The vibe is laid-back with that classic LA energy, making it a great place to kick back, enjoy good food, and try a little bit of everything. ⭐ Overall: Tu Madre delivers a fun, flavorful experience where the food is vibrant, satisfying, and definitely worth coming back for.
Surprisingly lovely find near Griffith park area. The food is amazing!! The number of Taco choices will spoil you for sure. We tried quite a few of them and were not disappointed by any! Taste is authentic, presentation unpretentious and the choices innovative! Must try if you are in the area. Oh and don’t miss the Tamarind Margarita!
Great tacos and margaritas! My waiter recommended the crispy chicken and braised beef tacos which were amazing! I had my heart set on the tuna taco but wish I took my waiter's suggestion on all 3 tacos. It was good, just not as good as his recommendations. The blood orange margarita was very refreshing. The sage and flower garnish gave it a little something extra special.
From GA. A Friend told us about happy hour $1.50 & $2.50 tacos. See the picture for the happy hour menu. The vibe was so premium outside that most people ate outside. There were a couple people inside. Nice vibes inside too. Not too big but seemed to be adequate. Clean restroom/establishment with nice and fast service. Eggplant, Jackfruit, KBBQ beef and brisket were all fair. They were kinda small. I didn’t complain because of price but if it wasn’t happy hour I might’ve had more of an issue. Fav taco was the fried fish. The mushroom was the second fav. Chipotle Cauliflower was great. Truffle Guac and chips were good. Drinks strong. I like their fun menu options. I could eat here again and recommend especially for happy hour. Nice plating and forks. My only complaint was the small size tacos. Because of the great happy hour deal, I didn’t see a need to drop a star. Although I could see why someone would give 4 star.
Had a great birthday lunch here. Jose our waiter was excellent. We loved the brisket nachos, braised beef & KBBQ tacos. The breakfast burrito with brisket was also delicious. The red velvet churros were over the top and loved the birthday presentation! Sitting outside on the patio made for a perfect celebration!
Fun repurposed home. There was a alot of seating, inside and outside. The patio was super pretty with lots of fun lighting. The tacos and burritos were delicious, particularly the brisket! Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
Had a great night out at Tu Madre. Our cocktails were amazing, the food was delicious and our servers were very nice.

We came here for my sister in-law and nieces birthday (party of 12). This was everyone’s first time here and can honestly say our party enjoyed Tu Madre very much. The cocktails were amazing and the food was great! Highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again.
We ordered shrimp taco, Korean bowl, Korean burrito, bahn mi burrito and street corn. The street corn tasted just like the ones we buy from food carts. We loved it. Same with the bowl and burritos. They were so delicious and filling. Don’t skip on the red velvet churros. It was so good! It’s warm, crunchy and that cream cheese dip was delicious.

Well well well. Five stars when I try the rest of the menu. I love Mexican Food yes I do. This is not Mexican cuisine in it's authentic form, however it's a delicious Korean Mexican weird fusion that honestly works! The Tortillas are the authentic part of all this in my opinion, everything else is new school meets a classic that everyone loves. First I had the Mushroom Taco - scandalously delicious 🤤🤤🤤 craving it as I think about it. Secondly had the shrimp Taco, sweet interesting mix of flavors, lil spice love it. Thirdly chicken ! Good crunchy and well done. Lastly the asada taco - weird way of preparing this old school classic but as I said it works and taste good very good. Will I go back YES! Looking forward to the Mahi Taco word is it's delicious so I been told.... Well well well... Till we meet again Taco Tu Madre....... To be continued......
Ok ok...where do I start. Place is very small. But it has outside seating, so it's ok. You do, and be prepared to pay for parking, its L.A. soo no surprise, right? Well, let's get to the food. I ordered some tacos... al pastor, asada and carnitas. And I got the Ahi tuna tostada. The tacos were good, authentic taste, I was surprised to be honest. The carnitas were really good and crunchy. Honestly these are authentic tacos, they taste like the ones in TJ, but staying in the U.S. The ahi tostada was fresh and the tostada looked what it seemed like a purple corn tortilla. But if was good. Honestly, this place surprised me. It was way better than what I expected. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy! P.S. If you have been institutionalized by Chipotle, Rubios and Baja Fresh and think those places are "mexican" food, then more likely you won't like this place. Because this is authentic Mexican tacos and food. This is what mexican cuisine should taste like. But I dare you to try this place and eat real tacos and delicious ones at that...lol.
Tasty tacos and nice atmosphere on the patio. Presentation is incredible and there are a lot of options for both food and drinks. The drinks were gorgeous but pricey for how strong they were, seemed like a lot of mixer and ice (our friend swore they received a virgin margarita by accident). Would recommend getting a few of the street tacos — a little less fancy but much cheaper and just as filling as the specialty tacos!
This review is based off of an “Uber Eats” delivery and I think it would be a higher rating if I dined in the restaurant. I ordered a crispy shrimp taco, guacamole, kbbq braised beef street taco, crispy fish taco and a brisket street taco along with a red velvet churro for desert. The guacamole was pretty good with their standard chips. The crispy shrimp taco was delicious and also their crispy fish taco. The brisket street taco and kbbq taco were probably my favorites. The red velvet churro was also good but I wish there was an option to add ice cream to complete the dessert. Overall a solid overall dining in experience. I’d definitely order from this place again and I will likely try to dine in store to get a real full dining experience.
Enjoyed a few taco with spicy margaritas. Was solo and felt comfortable and at ease. Somehow a little overpriced if you consider other tacos places in LA
My mom had the crispy shrimp bowl over a year ago, and when she came back to LA she said having it again was one of the things she was looking forward to most! Vibrant, quality, and delicious. The food comes fast, is rather affordable, and doesn’t disappoint!

Every time I go to a Tu Madre- any of the locations, I’m like “okay that was pretty good!” I’d say that overall, the atmosphere and “vibe” are better than the food, especially for Los Feliz and WeHo. The food isn’t bad at ALL- it’s good! it’s just a high bar in LA. Service in Los Feliz was a little grumpy but fine! I wish the menu had called out that the mushroom bulgogi in the V-KBBQ was fried. Again, great for a casual but hip vibe. A fun spot!

Tacos Tu Madre is just about the exact definition of "yah it's pretty good". I'm giving it a 3 stars because it took way longer to get our food than expected. Especially considering we were the only ones there at the time. We took the food to go and ordered a sweet and sour burrito, sweet and sour taco, a fried chicken taco, and a carne asada taco. The sweet and sour burrito was good but the flavor became a lot as I kept eating more. I appreciate the menu items and the adventurous spirit in this place to try new flavors of burritos and tacos. I think i'll be back in the future to give it another try, but my experience was pretty much exactly middle of the road "pretty good".
Welp… To call this place “Mexican Food” would be a disservice to Mexicans everywhere. A weird remix of traditional plates and some strange tasting hybrid ones. Food was oddly seasoned and lacked spice. Sort of reminded me of restaurants when they learn the items but forget the recipes-the food looks great but lacks in any promise of flavor. Worse our waiter left us and clocked out for the day shortly after being seated -leaving us with their luxious “tap” water and cold** chips and guacamole seasoned with tajin. My suspicion is that the chips, guacamole, and serving spoon-yes you read that right- were left in the refrigerator together to make service quicker-not to say they were busy, the place was basically empty before and after we ate. Which brings me to the bathrooms 🚽. Broken run down and kinda smelly, the faucets were barely functioning with broken handles and a soap dispenser that was just jammed in there because the original broke and was never fixed. Whew that was a lot and not to say there aren’t hard workers at this restaurant but the food was sloppy, my drink gave me a bad headache, and something else irritated my mouth. At the end we received the wrong check and would have just paid to get out of there but we’re not dishonest ppl. Not a great experience and definitely not worth the price. This restaurant should be avoided-it’s like a run down amusement park in a prime location.
Food was good, drinks were good. Ambiance feels like any other gentrified place. Service here sucks. First of all the person who sat us asked what kind of water we wanted. We said still.....Not knowing they were gonna charge us $8 a bottle of water. Still and flat water are the same thing. Fine. But then the happy hour menu AND the menu spells out what beer they have. Model and Pacifico. I ask our waitress for a michelada with a modelo. She answers as if I cant read and said "we don't have modelo. We have Dos Equis and tecate"....... Not "I'm sorry we changed our menu" nothing. She was cold and dry. Not friendly at all. She didn't even give us her name. To top it all off there was barely any avocado in the grilled shrimp burrito. I wouldn't go back.
I've been looking forward to trying this place. From the getgo, the host wasn't very friendly (you immediately sense the fakeness). Our food came... This is NOT authentic Mexican food! They're offering a twist in Mexican food, but Asian flair isn't quite it. The atmosphere, music, seating, dishes, silverware, food (the weirdest rice ever! It looked and tasted like hard Rice a Roni) or even the water jugs don't do Mexico justice! The mint/flower filled water jugs just confused me. Perhaps I am too Mexican, lol, and expected authentic Mexican flair/food.

I’ve been here once or twice before and didn’t know why I never came back until I came in this weekend. My group and I had been waiting for our order for a good while but we never got it. I won’t be coming back. Try the Thai spot right across, their food and service is way better. Disappointed in their service clearly showing they put white customers above others here. At a Mexican restaurant of all places… We had ordered drinks and food early on after being seated. After more than 30 minutes pass and we’re still waiting on the drinks we got. The table next to us (who got there later than us and had more people) got their drinks and food within a short time. They were also obnoxiously loud to the point where other tables were staring. Not a good look giving special treatment to white people at a Mexican restaurant. Another group next to us was there when we got seated and they also had been waiting. We could tell they had been waiting a while. The restaurant wasn’t event that busy so it’s clear to me that the service is lacking. What a weird experience.
