Amazing that this place exists -- it feels like something from another time. The prices are amazing and the snacks and treats are always delicious. If you don't know what something is they'll gladly explain it to you. We come here mainly for the steamed buns which are like $1.25, the roasted nuts and variety of other treats are always good as well. I'd like to try their larger dishes as well. Its the kind of place I love to support and want to see thrive. Its hidden off the triangle plaza and is somewhat unassuming, but if you're in the area you should pop in!
Best authentic Filipino bakery/dessert spot in all of Los Angeles. Check out their empanadas and turon they’re fabulous! I’ve been enjoying their baked goods for over 25 years. It’s really nice to see a small business thrive and make an impact in the community.
Likely the oldest Filipino Bakery in all of Los Angeles and a family tradition. Not only do they serve the BEST Turon [plantain and jackfruit lumpia/eggroll slathered in a light caramel sauce], but, their Empanadas are to die for. Latin empanadas are great, but, once you try Filipino Empanadas you will never go back! Call ahead and order both in advance for fresh, made to order delicacies warm in the box! My uncle has been a customer for years and years and my kids grew up looking forward to these treats at every family celebration. Tell them Daddy Jun sent you!
I had never had Filipino desserts. These are so good! And the guy was super nice, giving us extra little things on the side to try. I love plantains and had never had them as a dessert. Definitely worth stopping here.
Almost walked past but the charm of the shop caught my eye. Without knowing much about Filipino pastries, the gentleman guided us towards our tastes and gave us a jackfruit and plantain egg-roll (probably has a different name…) which was amazing! Also, the best merengues I’ve had EVER, not too sweet not too plain, just right! Can’t recommend enough if you’re in the area!
A real hidden gem. Stopped by to try the empanadas, they were delicious. I bought hopia & flan, also very good. I almost forgot about the bananaTuron and the young man at the counter said you have to try it and gave us some at no charge. We're definitely making the trip back there from Torrance.
Always went here as a kid. My family still occasionally buys food here from time to time. They used to be really good. Four stars because that potential, but I wish they can go back to how their quality was before. Edit May 2022: 5-Stars again for now because we bought the turon (those bananas and a slice of jackfruit inside a candied egg roll wrapper) and they were freshly made.
This hidden gem is a one of a kind. Genuine people, very friendly. Great empanadas, most traditional Philippine foods. Id say it's a must !! Salemat !!
This bakery is lovely really nice philippine older lady she decorated my cake for my moms bday! Ive been coming here since i was small or at least i can remember its the same lady ,but i love coming here for some sho pow and impanada. I miss the ube cake and some ube pastries they used to have on the shelves, but overall i enjoy this place!💜💜
Mom and pop Filipino baked goods. I don’t know anything about Filipino pastries, but was passing late in the day so I stopped in looking for something sweet to munch on. The person helping me grabbed a “crowd favorite”- plantain wrapped in a spring roll with jackfruit. Sticky sweet with a nice crunch. It hit the spot. I’ll need to come back!
quality Filipino baked goods at amazing prices. the family that runs it is beyond sweet. they are an original fixture of the community and I hope they stay as long as they want.
Stellar store of Filipino sweets and savories. Plus the day I went the Deus-clad shopkeeper was especially generous with his hospitality and let me try the plantain egg roll. Outta this world! 🤩
This Filipino Bakery is so awesome. The family that owns this place are very loving, caring and has good customer service. Their breads, pasties and food are all so delicious. Their empanadas, enzaimadas and banana turon are the best. Their siopao are very tasty too.
So this place has the best boxed pastry’s When I tryed the pastry’s at this location the taste was out of this world. The variety of the delicious food was so, Good i got extra box so other people can try them. They were that good.
Delicious! Fresh cooked turon.Glad I got them here... 🙂Parking can be a bit hard, but thankful they still were able to fill my order. I highly recommend this place and worth the trip to Silverlake.
Great food & down to earth vibe
Their banana egg roll or turon is great for takeout. I ordered 50 pieces and it was ready in 20 minutes. Fresh and crunchy.
wow very happy I found this bakery, they sell quality goods, I love me some hopias. Their's are delicious. And on top of that the people there were very kind to me. I love it when I find nice food made by good people, will be back
Cutest mom and Pop bakery n yummy cakes and baked goods!! I love their sweet coconut bread n banana breads!! So inexpensive and yummy treats of all kinds!
Great Filipino bakery. I come here to get turon (fried banana wrapped in sugar glazed rice flour wrappers, think, a dessert type egg roll) for parties or other special occasions, or when I have cravings. This is one of my favorite places for turon, they do a great job with it.
Very friendly with great service, their empanadas are bomb!
awesome bakery! Love all the goodies.
First time coming into the store, Great customer service and lots delicious pastries and food to try out !!!
Very homey filipino bakery selling all kinds of bread and pastries. They have empanadas, turon (banana egg roll with jackfruit), traditional rice cakes, birthday cakes, party platters, and pies (cassava/egg). They also have a small grocery section inside. The ladies here are very kind! Parking is very limited. Cash or card.
This place is such a hidden gem!!! I almost just walked by it and had to go inside to find out whether they were actually open. But I’m SO glad I went in. Their selection I’ll say, is pretty wide although the place appears small. Their pricing is reasonable and service was really good (they didn’t get annoyed with my endless questions!). I got hopias (ube, mung bean, onion) and plantain lumpias. Oh my God... the hopias were SO good and the lumpias, I don’t know how they do it but they sweetened the wrap itself and it’s sooo good altogether! The crispy and chewy, gooey wrap coverig the soft and delicious plantain(tasted more like banana to me) inside. I’d like to try their empanadas next time!!

Love the baked good here. Today I picked up some empanadas and Turon for the office...always the best
Family run spot with incredible bites. Turon and empanadas are a must
I spent a month in Silverlake and I think this was my favorite place I visited during my stay. The staff are always so pleasant and nice and the baked goods are TOO cheap. You literally won’t find a better deal in all of Los Angeles. You must try the turon! I’d never had one before visiting and I am now addicted.
Wow this place was so good. I got hopie (pandan flavor + ube flavor), a small flaky bun. I also got turon which is similar to Latin friend plantain deserts with syrup. Both were so good. The hopie were both super flakey and had very flavorful fillings, they felt delicately prepared. The turon was very flavorful and tasted fresh. The staff was extremely friendly, I had a great visit to United bread and pastry and will be an ambassador to their excellence at each opportunity that presents itself
This should be what people means when they say something is “inflation-resistant”. I can’t fathom how they are able to provide baked goods at such a high quality but low price apart from the fact that maybe they don’t have to pay rent?? Definitely recommend giving this spot a try if you’re in the area. I bought a turon and a pandan hopia, totaling to $2. Both were warm (not partially but warm throughout which suggest they were either made very soon before or were kept in a heated environment) and tasted super fresh. I preferred the turon; the outside was crispy and caramelized, and the inside tasted like a plantain but also had jackfruit umami. The layers were clearly defined and the texture was great. Comparatively the pandan hopia was not as sweet, but the filling was soft and gooey. It’s not really a dough-y or bread-y texture but in between bread and pastry, so it was quite unique.
This Filipino bakery is hands down the best in town! Every item they serve is pure perfection, from their soft and fluffy pandesal to their beautifully crafted ensaymada. But what really steals the show is their *turon* – crispy on the outside, sweet and perfectly caramelized on the inside. It’s no wonder it’s their most famous item! Not only is the food top-notch, but the service has recently taken a huge step up. There’s a new team member, a kind, humble, and hardworking man who goes above and beyond to make every customer feel welcome. His warm smile and helpful attitude really elevate the entire experience, making you feel like family the moment you step through the door. This bakery truly has it all – amazing food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're grabbing a quick snack or treating yourself to a full spread of Filipino delights, this place never disappoints. If you haven’t tried their famous *turon* yet, do yourself a favor and stop by – you’ll be hooked from the first bite! Highly recommended – a gem for anyone craving authentic Filipino flavors!
My go to for delicious birthday cakes, fantastic Filipino treats, and run by the absolute nicest people who give the most five star service ever. Cannot recommend enough. One of the last good things left on that entire strip of sunset.
Found this awesome family owned bakery on my way to the farmer's market. The Mom owner and son? handling the counter were super friendly, doling out samples to everyone, explaining what everything was...the pastries were flaky and not super sweet and the chicken empanadas were delicious. Can't wait to try everything else on the menu, except maybe not balut. Haha. 5 stars!!
We were greeted with so much kindness when we walked in, to me that’s always the most memorable thing! The pastries we got were very affordable and delicious too of course. The adobo pan de sal was soft and fresh. Love to see this mom n pop still thriving in Silver Lake.
5 star selections.. 5 star taste/aroma of everything we tried.. 5 star to the gentleman who guided my wife and I on what to pick and he went ABOVE & BEYOND! since this first visit was exceptional expect us to visit your shop and try your delicious variety of food!
So delicious! their Turin is perfectly sugary crackle-y. Also a good amount of ube dessert options!
The empanadas were a great hit at the Christmas Potluck. I was able to get a large quantity on short notice, and everyone wanted to know who made them. #lifeoftheparty
absolutely LOVE their turon, so delicious and crispy. an authentic family owned business! always happy to support!

Highly recommended: Turon (deep fried bananas and jackfruit wrapped like an egg roll but really crispy) Must try: the candies in their mini fridge and the cassava pie/cake. They have a very limited parking spot that is tricky to get into. Better to do street parking. The exterior and ambiance isn't updated but the good stuff are all inside.
I have been going to bakeries for about 2 years now... and they simply have the best of everything!!! My personal favorite is their blueberry muffin. PERFECTION in a muffin. Full of amazing blueberries, moist, and it has the perfect amount of strenuous on the top! All of their cakes are amazing as well. Moist and flavorful, made with the best ingredients. I've never been disappointed!
Went here to buy some empanadas. They were just okay. Hadn't tasted any in a long while. I think it was finely shredded chicken and potato, sure didn't taste like pork or beef. Inside they sell all sorts of Filipino desserts and sweets, pan de sal, and some frozen items tucked away in the corner. And yes, they have cheese wiz. Parking is reeeaaally bad.
The bakery is pretty good. Lots of thongs for the hungry filipino. The is great crunchy by no greasy chicaron. The empanada is good and not too doughy. Mom loves the smoked fish.

I have been craving for authentic Filipino sweets lately and unbeknownst to me this small shop was right under my nose all these years. UBP is a mom ‘n pop pastry shop who has been making Filipino sweets, pastries and cakes for 30+ years in Silver Lake. Impressive! They’re located on Griffith Park blvd and Sunset blvd sandwiched between a modern restaurant and a gourmet organic market. I came early morning to grab one of their pastries and check out other Filipino goodies. Interior space was very, very small and a little cramped. However, it’s filled with bread, pastries and other goodies. I was greeted by a young staff, possibly one of the owner’s children attending to their shop. He was welcoming and friendly. I ordered their famous Turon, a deep fried plantain wrapped in spring rolls sprinkled with brown sugar. It was warm, sweet and crunchy. It’s plantain was very soft and sweet. Pure perfection! Turon cost $1.75 bucks each. In general, their prices were reasonable and affordable. They cater to all occasion, hence, the party trays. Parking lot was significantly small. Side street meter parking are available. Overall, I had a good take out order and I highly recommend this pastry shop.

We didn't get to try the turon which seems to be their best seller. Not sure what the hype was about as all the stuff we got were just ok. The milk candies we got didn't seem fresh so that was sad. Was really hoping it was good as we drove far to get here :( Maybe good for others but I prefer Luisa and Sons
Bought a few a few items to include some pan de coco/coconut bread. It was moldy. If I didn’t live so far away I would return it. Be careful in what you buy.

waste of time and money.. the ube halaya that I bought was old and so is their sans rival
Me and my sisters bought 3 dozen of empanadas on 6/4/2017 and it's terrible it's all EXTENDER. Their empanadas used to be the best. Please don't change the recipe.. I've rather pay more that I can enjoy eating rather than cheap but it goes to the garbage.
The place was ok. Finding a parking space was a challenge, but mainly, steer clear of their hopia. I was hoping for an authentic and good hopia since it was rated 4.6 stars here and ordered 2 boxes worth $50+ hoping to send 1 box to relatives out of state. But when I got home and started to taste some of the hopia, I couldn't even get past 1 bite. It was stale, flaky, and disgusting. Like it's been sitting there for more than a week. You can tell it was an old batch. The filling was subpar. The durian hopia was disappointing and not a hint of durian. I feel so embarrassed that I sent a box of these disgusting hopia to my relatives. I should've just drove the extra 10 miles and got some from Hopia like it in Winnetka. They do not disappoint. Please do better and improve your food quality because this is an embarrassing representation to us Filipinos.
Horrible and unprofessional. I called to place an order for a dozen pastries for my grandma and neices birthday and they said what time I told them 6:30. I drove an hour away and by the time I got there which was 6:20 they were closed. The website says 7:30?! They closed when they knew I was picking up an order! They are inconsiderate and I waited an hour outside and no one opened the door. Horrible bakery you are better off at red ribbon.
