If you want a real Southern breakfast experience, with great service, then this is the place to go! It's not huge so it can get busy at weekends, prepare to queue. But it's worth it! The menu is massive, with everything you could think of ordering, plus lots of unusual dishes (check out the fried chicken waffles). The portion size is huge, and the food was delicious. Add unlimited coffee top ups, fresh juice, mimosas, and hot sauces, and you have one fab cafe.

This cute little place situated in a corner of a building in downtown Los Gatos has some mouth watering breakfast and lunch menu. On a Sunday afternoon, the wait was quite long but was well worth the tasty and delicious signature shrimp & grits and the Santa Fe Scramble we ordered with the outdoor seating. The corn bread was very tasty!. The ice tea was a good accompaniment. Our waitress Debbie fondly addressed by the kitchen staff as “Mama”, was very friendly and took care of us well. Highly recommended.

The grilled chicken omelette with potatoes was delicious, and their coffee cake was simply divine. The friendly servers and the pleasant outdoor seating made for a great brunch experience.

The name of the restaurant is a selling point 😂 The restaurant serves a decent portion of every plate. I think that it is nice for a person who just did hiking. Chamomile tea is the icing on the cake for me. Please DO check the 7 seconds video attached. It sounds everyone is enjoying their meal here😋Have a wonderful weekend. Recommend.

Loved the SSK omelette, fried chicken and waffle was so so but a different experience. My partner loved the Club sandwich though! Lively Saturday brunch ambience with the pinch of amazing weather on a second fall day.

Amazing brunch in Los Gatos at the Southern Kitchen. You know the food is good when you can end up in line for over 45 minutes. The variety and quality on the menu is incredible. And the food is delicious. The service was very friendly and helpful. And we were out on the patio on the sidewalk. It was lovely though a bit cramped with lots of traffic. But otherwise, it was a beautiful day out. 4 x 🍳🍳🍳🍳

This iconic Los Gatos coffee shop has been serving classic American fare for nearly 30 years. Now owned by a former employee, the food seems as good — if not better — than ever. The extensive breakfast menu has all the classics (eggs, omelettes, French toast, pancakes, etc.) plus several Southern style specialty items (chicken fried waffles, shrimp and grits). Ditto for lunch, which includes everything from sandwiches and burgers to salads and fried chicken. They also serve weekend brunch but they’re not open for dinner. I met three friends for breakfast and we were lucky enough to grab one of the few outdoor tables for four. Unfortunately, it was on the narrow sidewalk instead of the new “parklet” out front so it felt a bit cramped, especially when people were walking by or gathering at the door. My Belgian waffle was cooked just right. When topped with a generous cup of fresh strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple (included) and a bit of syrup, it tasted great. I wish I’d told them to make my side order of bacon extra crispy, because it seemed a bit undercooked. My friends ordered a mushroom omelette with hash browns and toast, traditional Mexican Huevos Rancheros, and a taco salad (from the lunch menu), and everyone said that they enjoyed their meals. Service was friendly but responsiveness was average at best. The bill for four came to just over $100 including tax, tip, and a 3% credit card surcharge. With the exception of the limp bacon (ten bucks for four slices!) I think that our meals were a good value for the quantity and quality of food.

Had the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage. Both were a bit bland in my opinion. I do like a pretty sage heavy gravy and this was not it. Gravy had a very milk heavy flavor, nothing wrong with it just not my style. The gravy was a very uniform white as well, meaning, not much meat in the gravy and not much in the way of spices. The biscuits were fine but I found that I didn't have enough gravy to finish them out probably for the best carb wise. The sausages were very good sized, not the little tiny links you'd gat at Denny's or whatnot. However these were also somewhat bland. May need to try a different dish if I ever come back. The chicken and waffles did look good. Coffee was good. Service also pretty good.

After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. This is small restaurant so you need to wait on weekends. It was said to be 35-40 minutes but in fact it was only about 20 minutes. The fried chicken is delicious, but the waffle is a bit dry, and the gravy temperature is too low, giving it a cold texture. We were sitting on the street, with people coming and going, and someone was standing behind me, I feel weird so I can't enjoy my food .

Disappointing experience. Took awhile to get service. It was full but not packed. Server was friendly but we had to ask for more water. Didn't check in with us. Was looking forward to enjoying the Fried chicken. Ordered dark meat. One piece was very dry. And both had very little meat. It was mostly fried skin. Not great quality. Salads were fine. Prefer homemade dressings to bottled. Perhaps the other items are better.

My recent brunch experience here had its highs and lows. Initially, the host seemed a bit indifferent, calling out waiting parties' names so softly that it was nearly impossible to hear. However, once seated, our waiter was a delight - exceptionally friendly and accommodating, which helped improve the overall atmosphere. Although the patio boasted a charming ambiance, the absence of heaters left us shivering throughout our meal, somewhat diminishing the enjoyment. It was disappointing to have such a lovely setting compromised by the lack of temperature control. Regarding the food, it was decent overall. While everything tasted good, my hamburger had an odd texture that was somewhat off-putting. It's always a shame when one dish doesn't quite hit the mark, especially in an otherwise enjoyable meal. In summary, Southern Kitchen Los Gatos offers both positives and negatives. While the friendly service from our waiter and the pleasant patio ambiance were highlights, there were drawbacks such as poor communication from the host and inadequate heating. If you're willing to overlook these flaws in favor of decent food and enjoyable service, it might be worth a try. However, if these aspects are essential to your dining experience, you may want to explore other brunch options in the area.

Cozy indoor and outdoor seating. Food was just ok. Cons: Not many breakfast options. The servers were not clear about the sides of the dishes on the menu so it took many back and forth questions and escalations to fulfill our order! At the end we were charged for items we ordered separately!

All in all the food is very good, except for the microwaved biscuit that they gave me the edges and the bottom of the biscuit was hard a biscuit should be light fluffy and flaky never put in the microwave. I ordered the Los Gatos Lu The gravy was very tasty. The chicken was good. I love southern fried chicken. For the price, you guys charge, your biscuit should be on point. The staff were very nice, respectful and helpful. there is also the grits the grits tasted nice with butter and brown sugar.
