La comida es excelente. Todo tiene un sabor auténtico y delicioso, bien preparado y con ingredientes frescos. El arroz estaba en su punto, suelto, sabroso con ternera y bien sazonado. Sin duda, una experiencia gastronómica muy satisfactoria. ¡Lo recomiendo totalmente!..

La experiencia fue impecable. Pedimos un arroz tres delicias y unos fideos udon espectaculares: todo fresco, sabroso y en su punto justo. Lo mejor: la atención fue excelente desde el primer momento, súper cálida y atenta. Hubo un pequeño error con uno de los platos y lo resolvieron al instante, lo cambiaron sin ningún problema y con la mejor predisposición. El mozo (un muchacho de Colombia) que nos atendió fue especialmente amable y se notó el cuidado en cada detalle. Un lugar al que dan ganas de volver siempre.

Varela Cafe is like stepping back in time to an age of royalty! My family and I felt welcomed, even without a reservation, which I recommend you make! The staff were accommodating, professional, and I felt seriously important to them. The staff was attentive to the last detail! Food was delicious, presented with care, and cooked to perfection. My only gripe is that I can't go there often as I live abroad.

I went to this restaurant with my colleagues, we were about 10 people. The food was amazing, especially the meat honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. We shared some Spanish-style starters and fish dishes that were excellent, and the meat with fries was fantastic (though the portion of fries could have been bigger for the table). On the downside, the dessert was disappointing my tiramisu wasn’t good at all. The service was just okay; communication was a bit difficult since our waiter didn’t really speak English. Also, at the end of the evening the smell of trash from the street next to the restaurant took away from the atmosphere, which was a shame. That said, if you love great meat, this is a place I highly recommend. The food itself really stands out.

My friend and I just found this place on a whim on our first night in Madrid. We were sat in the beautiful window seat. Delicious olives were served as tapas. We got the seafood croquettes to share (yum!). For mains, I got the scallops and my friend got the veal tenderloin, both were delicious! The waiter gave my friend a joking side eye when she asked for ketchup for her fries. Service was great. Highly recommend.

One of the best cafe in the center of Madrid. Its adjacent to gran via street. The decoration was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and polite. The food was tasty and too delicious. We ask for seafood baella, the portion was big enough for two persons and it was full of seafood. It tooks a little bit time to get the food but the offer us free appetizers until we get our meal. The prices were very reasonable compared to the food quality and other restaurants in the area. Highly recommended.

The staff is amazing!! The food was amazing! We started off with a small group of Americans who found ourselves in town for Thanksgiving and decided to go out and find a snack at 10:30. The restaurant across the street turned their nose up at us and sent us away when it was just five people. Our group quickly grew to 13 and several hours later , and many plates of food and wine and desserts later. We left with our bellies and hearts full. If you have the opportunity, stop by it is an amazing place. The staff is more than happy to share the details of the and origin stories behind it all an expansive bar, impressive wine list and specialty items such as Jamon Imberico, blonde beef (vaca rojo), galatian seafood and fish, lamb and more round out the dinner menu. Highly recommend. Muchos Gracious!

Excellent food and reasonable. The establishment comes with a long history. It opened in 1884 and is still going strong. The smokers eat outdoors. The breakfast is awesome and one you cannot comprehend. It is a very large buffet with a bonus of an excellent choice of coffees. This is a very pleasant place to eat. They honor poets and have portraits of their country's "thinkers" two side by side, floor to ceiling. They still make their brew and he told me 500 each barrel daily.

We had dinner at Cafe Varela in Madrid this July and enjoyed the experience overall. The service was excellent — the waiters were very attentive, and the inside decoration gave the restaurant a welcoming, classic feel. The clams and salads were especially good, fresh and flavourful. Dinner at Varela Cafe was very good. The service was spot on and the food was delicious and not over priced. We enjoyed a nice salad but the scallops were wonderful as was the ribeye - no much in the way of seasoning but that means the underlying product can stand on it’s own. I would certainly eat at Varela Cafe again.

Excellent service. Visited twice. Once for dessert, the second for dinner. The staff was kind to answer any of our questions and help make selections. The desserts were 5 star hands down. Our dinner was great we had artichoke appetizer, a goat cheese salad two pasta dishes and the grilled chicken. Sangria is excellent. Hemos ido algunos días antes de que cerraran, después hemos ido pero la verdad que el ambiente ha empeorado, entramos y tuvimos que esperar más de media hora para que nos entregaran la comida, la primera bien, pero las demás fatal quemada, sosa,.... La encargada bastante grosera, había mucha gente quejándose pero ella no hacía nada, personas que habían entrado después comiendo y marchándose. Me da bastante pena porque era un sitio bueno y barato.

Pedí la comida y me tardo en llegar más de 50 minutos y encima sabia a quemado. El aforo estaba superado, de tal manera que no podía salir de mi asiento porque tenía otra silla atrás de la mía. Y por si fuera poco para bajar al baño habían tantas mesas con personas en el medio que parecía la misión imposible salir de allí. Tienen una sala abajo con humedad y sin ventanas, es bastante claustrofóbico. Sobre la comida fuimos a reclamarlo varias veces y la encargada/gerente ha sido muy borde y prepotente. Me da mucha lástima porque iba mucho, pero no pienso volver después de este trato tan horroroso.

El local supera el aforo máximo permitido. Son muy listos y no lo ponen en la puerta. Tardan más de 1h en servirte la comida, y como si fuera poco, al hablar con la encargada, está llena de prepotencia no deja al cliente hablar y dice siempre lo mismo, que no pueden hacer más. Ya muy molestos hemos pedido la hoja de reclamaciones y no tenían. Un dato muy importante del aforo, es que lo llenan tanto que no puedes bajar a la planta baja a usar el lavabo. Asusta pensar que tengas que salir corriendo por qué se obstaculizan la salida
