Un sitio estupendo para comerte el típico bocata de calamares sin tener que hacer tanta cola como en otros sitios. Tiene una planta arriba donde hay algunas mesas altas donde poder comer. Abajo es algo más pequeño. Fuimos 3 personas y nos costó 18 Euros los tres bocatas con 3 bebidas, genial de precio teniendo en cuenta el lugar y la calidad. Recomendable.

Sitio para comer un buen bocadillo de calamares(4,20€) en la plaza mayor. El bocadillo está bueno, el calamar rico de sabor y el reboce bueno y crujiente. Como puntos negativos, el pan era un poco chicloso y es bastante pequeño. Tiene una barra en la parte de abajo y una sala pequeña con unas pocas mesas en la parte de arriba. Siempre suele haber cola pero va rápido y siempre puedes comerlo en la calle en los alrededores.

Bocadillo de calamares bastante bueno,algo pequeño,buen precio,local muy pequeño,si tienes claustrofobia quédate el la calle a cómetelo. Rapidez, Por poner alguna pega hay una mujer morena, no se si encargada, un poco desquiciada y sin muchos modales. Una tila iría bien.Totalmente recomendable.

It is what it is. So happy to walk pass this little local gathering and popular spot for snacks and a drink or two. Very welcoming and you get to mingle with some locals and enjoy the Madrid atmosphere within this quaint old city. The iconic calamari served on a freshly baked bread roll is worth every bite. My only regret is not trying their second-best Spanish sausage sandwich.....next time. This place is a must!!

Historical building as well as shop just beside plaza major. The calamari is freshly deep fried upon order and you can add a small beer for 1.60€! Part of the history of Madrid so do not miss this restaurant when you visit!

An incredible experience….a real place where to eat the real bocadillos de calamares…..most probably you need to do a queue, but all the effort will be well paid. Fish is well fried, very well joined with the bread; beer is fine. Prices are good.

Estuve allí con la familia ayer cenando de bocata de calamares. Pienso que es uno de los imperdibles, si vas de bares por los alrededores de la Plaza Mayor; creo que, junto con La Campana, podría decirse que es de los más típicos de esta zona en calamares. Aunque cuenta con 2 pisos, el local es pequeño; es muy estrecho, tiene la barra en un lado, una zona para estar de pie al otro, y alguna zona de mostrador al fondo; arriba hay alguna mesa alta con taburetes y algún mostrador más. El bocata de calamares, aunque no está tan bien como antaño, no es de los más caros de la zona (tampoco de los más baratos); pero comes es un sitio con tradición y muchos años funcionando. Hemos ido a hacer el típico bocata de calamares, imprescindible en una visita a Madrid. Hay que reconocer que han sido muy rápidos, hemos ido a la 1, y estaban bastante bien. Como pega, yo quería un bocata de balón con queso y no les quedaba queso :v Como contras, los bocatas son un tanto pequeños, tal vez necessitas 1,5 por persona, además que el sitio es pequeño y tiene los baños de chicos abajo y los de chicas en la planta alta.

Un clásico en Madrid para comer bocadillos de calamares sin las pretensiones de otros locales más conocidos o de moda en estos momentos. Llevo más de 40 años yendo a comer bocadillos allí y lo único que ha cambiado es el color de las paredes, antes eran verdes y ahora son de color morado. Aparte de los bocadillos de calamares, lo mejor es el bocata de panceta con pimiento verde.

Siempre en la los soportales de la Plaza mayor, recuerdo a la señora que hace muchos , muchos años te ponía los bocadillos con cariño . Múltiples veces como mucha gente hemos ido año tras año y aunque hay otros locales cercanos para mí el bocate de calamares es de RUA, sin desmerecer a los otros.

Just off the main square this is a classic restaurant well known for its calamari bread rolls. There is a seating area upstairs and a small counter downstairs with some high top tables at the back near the bathrooms. There are other foods available, but the calamari role is what this restaurant is famous for. It is what it is, fried calamari on a bread roll. There is no butter no mayo, no lemon no sauce. It’s a tourist thing and not bad tasting.

Decent bocadillos de calamares. Not the famous one, but where the locals go apparently. I liked it but thought it was going to be a little more exciting than it was. The calamari was fresh and well cooked, and the bread decent. A nice snack, I feel i could make a better one myself.. that might be more about me, though - but I think there's probably better versions of this traditional sandwich around. Added- I did go to a few other places, some were better but more expensive. For the price, this one is fine

Madrid's signature dish, squid sandwich! I recommend this Casa Rua. The first thing I ate after checking into the hotel was this sandwich. Honestly, I don't know how it tastes, but the combination of bread and fried squid was quite interesting! Compared to other sandwich shops around, there were a lot of people waiting (which proves the taste) and the price seems to be great.

I have craved for a bocadillo de calamari from this place since I first had it more than 10 years ago. Finally made it back. Unfortunately I think I was chasing a memory. The squid was good. However the bread was a bit too hard for my taste. They did not offer any sauce to add to the bocadillo, which resulted in a somewhat dry sandwich. The ambience at the place is one that is rush. One has to eat standing up, not a big deal as this will happen in most meals here, but because of the small size of the place, it just doesn’t make for a great experience

My husband and I tried the famous squid sandwich at Bocadillos de Calamares early August 2022. The restaurant is close to the Plaza Mayor. No outside seating, but there are big round steal balls outside that people can sit/lean on. The squid sandwiches cost 3,90 euros each. The fried squids were tender but a bit salty and the bread was soft. Okay to try at least once if you are in the area for a quick snack.

I watched as they served up buns bulging with calamari to Spanish speaking patrons eating at the bar. As an obvious tourist; I stepped up and ordered a Calamari Boccadillo to take-away. What I got was maybe a third less calamari, and oddly unsalted. I looked back inside the restaurant and didn't see any salt shakers.; But if any of you have ever had fish and chips unsalted, you will know what I mean.So bit average.

Unfortunatelly I felt like the calamary is not done well enough. There were also no spices, mayo, lemon - anything. At least it was for 4.30 euros but i wouldn't order them again. Expected golden crispy and got anything but that. But... maybe that's how people in Madrid like it.
