Recomendado
An excellent experience from start to finish. We booked for lunch, and from the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. The restaurant has a modern yet welcoming decor, with spacious tables and good spacing between diners. We ordered the set menu, and we were truly surprised by the quality. The creamy rice with mushrooms was wonderful, and the entrecote was juicy and flavorful, cooked exactly to our liking. The dessert—a creamy cheesecake—was the perfect ending. Furthermore, the service was quick, which is much appreciated during the week. I would definitely return.
I had been to the other one, Los Castaños 2, years ago, but a friend wanted to go to the first one to order the set menu. It was simply fabulous. A bit more expensive than other places, but worth it. The service was very professional, polite, and friendly. The dishes, being from the set menu, were very, very good. For starters, mixed paella—good flavor, not a rice restaurant, but good flavor, cooked perfectly, and a fairly large portion. For the main course, pork knuckle. I appreciated that it didn't have sauerkraut, but the pork knuckle was the best I've ever tasted; it melted in your mouth without having to chew it, and it was served with a boiled potato with paprika. In short, very happy and ready to return. Today, October 29, 2025, I went back. We had to eat on the terrace; they charge €2 extra for it, as we would have had to wait 30 minutes if we wanted to eat inside. The food and service continue to be excellent.
We had a very good lobster rice dish, with a great flavor and a generous portion. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and we even received a complimentary liqueur at the end. The only negative point I would say is that the herbal teas aren't up to par, as they come from sachets and are quite bland.
Excellent food and service. We were very pleased with the experience. The service was very personalized and professional. We were going to return to try the fabada the next day but did not have time as we were late for the airport. The next time we are in Madrid, this place is a must.
Actual review: ⭐️⭐️ (2/5) As a tourist im confused on why this has so many positief review’s (This is definitely a tourist trap) Let me explain: According to the waiter no one that day could speak english, Yes i get it, its not their main language… But why have an english menu than… Talking about the menu the english menu is missing a lottt of dishes, im not joking it really is missing a lot, the Spanish menu has a lot more dishes! Theres a lot of 2+ person dishes i was looking forward to but couldn’t pick.(also didn’t get the drink card) For some reason the waiter brought out this nice linnen for the table, my friend later pointed out that they did this only for us, anyone else with the same amount of people and table didn’t get this only tourist! At the start we got some nice appetizers, they just brought these to us, after mentioning that my friend doesn’t eat pork the waiter came up with an alternative which was really nice of him! ❗️(The waiter didn’t tell us that the alternative cost money €1,80 for tiny piece of bread that i could buy from the Lidl for €0,30)❗️ Food was pretty salty, the drink we got was just a tiny bottle for one glass so it was obvious that they wanted us to buy more drinks to help with the overly salty food! The price was okay normal price for a fancy place.
This must be one of my favourite places to eat in my neighbourhood. The food is excellent quality. The waiters are all so friendly and genuinely want you to enjoy your food and have a good time. It’s a winner for me 🥂🍋
I've been there with my family on many occasions, and it's always been wonderful. The service is impeccable, the portions generous and delicious. A special mention to the ham with tumaca bread, a delight. In short, a wonderful place, with a truly commendable price/quality ratio. Highly recommended.
Good food , great service 🙏❤️
Great restaurant and bar, nice staff attention, lovely food.. 😍
Nice food, friendly staff, good service.
Good, good, good ...
A place to try good, well-prepared products, whether meat, seafood, or fish. We tried the corucho, a fish similar to turbot, with the texture of sole; it was very good, baked with Bilbao-style sauce, and served to three people—it was a large portion. The red meat was very good. The cockles were plump and simply pan-fried. A great place to enjoy products from the Rías Altas (High Rías). The service was excellent.
Dinner with friends at this restaurant, which we chose because of its convenient location and because they offered us a table without having to wait in line, something increasingly rare in Madrid. The food is good, and the prices seem high, but in the end, the bill doesn't break the bank. For starters, I'd recommend the sweetbreads and the grilled baby squid, and for main courses, my favorites were undoubtedly the cod Rioja-style and the sea bass. Some diners ordered the ribeye steak to share and said the meat was very good, but I didn't try it. I was very disappointed that one of the people who ordered a salad had it taken away almost untouched because the dressing contained mustard, which she doesn't like. The waiters removed the plate practically untouched, without asking a single question—a bad sign. Why I recommend it: Los Castaños proves that quality food never goes out of style. Yes, the prices may seem a bit high at first glance, but in the end, the bill doesn't leave you shaken. More things in Fernando's hobbies.
Nice
This is the first time I've eaten at this restaurant, but I've had good reviews from friends who've frequented it. I ate on the outdoor terrace because I'm obviously taking precautions against Covid. The staff was friendly and attentive. Good service. The portions are generous. Quality and price are in line. I would recommend it. A nice touch was the fact that they offered us a shot and left the bottles on the table.
As a tourist im confused on why this has so many positief review’s on google. After looking a bit more into this its mainly spanish people making these reviews they probably got asked to do this by t…
Average traditional spanish food. I do not give the 4th start because service was too average.
A very busy place, at least during lunchtime. The daily menus have three or four starters and the same goes for main courses. The problem? They have no control over what they have and what they don't. It was just after two o'clock, and there were already a couple of dishes out of stock and a line of people waiting for a table. In addition to being out of stock, once we had ordered everything, which they supposedly had, they made us change dishes up to three times on the spot, and finally made us wait 15 minutes for a chicken fillet that arrived after everyone had finished eating.
This is the first time I have been moved to post a negative review anywhere, however our experience was so negative I hope this will save you the trouble… The TLDR is tourists are treated poorly vs locals… we arrived around 8.30pm on a Monday night with 2 other tables present…we ordered 2 glasses of wine plus tapas and made an effort with our basic Spanish. Waiter tried to upsell from tapas to portiones ( double Size). Waited 45 minutes for tapas - in the meantime several tables of locals arrived and immediately received tapas. Asked for ‘la Quenta por favor’ and saw the waiter go on to serve other tables and never came Back, so 10 minutes later asked another waiter for bill. Once presented he asked for a tip - I usually tip and well for good service but given our experience said ‘I was fine with original bill’ checked the bill then tapped credit card, but when I got home found he had added 30% tip without consent. There are plenty of fantastic tapas bars on this road but this is not one of them!!!
