We ate here while staying in Madrid. The first time we had dinner here we were so impressed with the food, the atmosphere and the staff that we kept coming back. It was so close to our hostel, after a day of experiencing Madrid, this was a lovely restaurant to come and eat at the end of our weary day. Not only was the food ample and delicious but the atmosphere was comfortable. The staff were hardworking and very welcoming. A memorable experience 😊

A very good place for breakfast. They have several pre-set breakfast options. Also good coffee and churros. A very good option if the hotel does not have breakfast included. It is not exactly on the street where it is positioned on the map, it is vis a vis, but it is easy to find if you reach the location on the map.

To be honest I really really like this place. I was just randomly walking on the streets and came across their pictures of the food that they stuck on the outside of the glass. I went for the Iberico pork dish which tasted so amazing and also a very very good price. I read their menu in full, I think all are very reasonably priced especially their variety of Spanish omelettes. The next table had it, they look really nice. They have paella too but I didn't have it. I think they should have a higher rating!

Base on what I read,.I was worried that the service wouldn't be good. They proved I was wrong. The waiter is efficient and got everything I required. Food is tasty and cheap. It's very popular so you better come in earlier or later to avoid the crowd and you will enjoy the meal here.

Me ha parecido un sitio típico de Madrid y de la zona, con raciones y bocadillos, que aunque no son muy grandes como en otros sitios, no están mal y cumplen con el dicho de buena calidad-precio. Las tortillas de patata las hacen en el momento, pequeñas y no muy cuajadas, por lo que a mí gusto, yo le pondría las patatas más cortaditas y más cuajada. El bocata de calamares, bastante bueno. Eso sí, los camareros trabajan lentos y sin ganas. Pero vamos, que volveré seguramente 👍

Las tapas son enormes. Para Dos es mejor pedir un plato combinado. Lo mejor que hay cocina abierta hasta las 1 de la madrugada si vas de fiesta o al teatro a la salida hay comida.buena de calidad y cantidad precios bien. tardan un poco tipo 30 minutos por tres tapas.

Encontré, de casualidad, este bar para desayunar y me gustó el desayuno que tomé. Tenía buen precio, sorprendente para lo que poden ahora, y la ración de pan tostado estaba muy bien. Me he guardado este sitio para cuando vuelva por ese barrio. Recomendable.

Relación calidad/cantidad/precio muy buena. Raciones de comida abundantes y buena calidad. Pedimos tres raciones y tres bocatas para seis personas y quedamos satisfechos. El ambiente es muy bueno y los camareros son muy amables. Es un restaurante bonito y bien decorado. La única pega que puedo ponerle es que primero tomamos algo y después decidimos cenar. Para tomarnos la comanda tardaron un poco pero por lo demás todo bien.

Hemos comido un secreto ibérico con queso de cabra, patatas fritas y pimientos de padrón inmejorable!👏. El ambiente es cálido y acogedor, sencillo pero completo. Hay una variedad de platos como os podéis fijar en la carta y también de cervezas locales e internacionales. En pleno centro de Madrid a pasos de la Gran Vía en la calle Hortaleza, 18. La atención impecable👌 Volveremos seguro💪

We saw locals dining in there, a good sign. Good food, good recommendations from the friendly staff there as well. You HAVE to finish your meal off with that cake!! SO moist, chocolatety & just the right amount of sweetness. We will be back as there was a nice selection & we want to try more!

Honestly this place was not bad at all for the price and the casual nature of the cafe. The portions are huge and if you like traditional Spanish food you'll like it here. As North Americans if you're wondering the streets looking for a breakfast spot that is sort of close to what we eat in America/UK you can try this place. We got the chorizo tortilla and ham with eggs ( closest thing to bacon and eggs) This place is nothing fancy, but does the job.

Not sure why this place has so many low ratings!! Yes it’s typical local Spanish style service.. what do you expect seriously. Relax The food however is really good. Decent portion sizes and worth the €. Calamari was really good. Little greasy but nothing some lemon and seasoning didn’t balance out. We also had the grilled chicken. Pretty good also. Grilled vegetables. Great. It was busy and seems like the local place for locals if I am honest. So to be welcome as a Tourist it was good and they even offered a english menu which I was surprised. El bocadillo de calamares está bien, no es de los mejores. El aperol sprit peor que me he tomado en mi vida. Del resto buena atención

Un sitio muy amplio para ir a desayunar o merendar es muy buena opción, fuimos para ambas cosas y los productos están muy bien relación calidad/precio. Tienen desayunos muy completos y económicos, una buena tostada con un cuenco de tomate, bastante jamón, zumo natural, café con leche y un yogur (no me lo pusieron y yo no me acordé) por 4,90€. Está bueno, generoso y barato. También pedimos un zumo de naranja y una napolitana. Por la tarde fuimos a merendar ya que tenían croquetas dulces y los camareros no se enteraban mucho, nos sacaron croquetas saladas porque no tenía ni idea de que había dulces. Finalmente las sacaron y estaban muy cremosas y ricas, venían 2 de leche merengada y 2 de chocolate con almendra garrapiñadas, muy buenas y por 4,50€. El café con leche no es de otro mundo y cuesta 1,60€. Como puntos negativos el vaso del café con leche con hielo es enano y no cabe y los hielos, los peores del mercado. En resumen, es un sitio donde está rico todo, pero le fallan muchos detalles

This place is perplexing! It’s always busy, has a lot of reviews, and is full of locals, however I thought the food was average. I’m not sure if we’ve been super lucky up until this point and have just been eating at the best places or if we just caught the chef on a bad night but I didn’t love anything. They only have full racions which was fine, just a lot of food. We got patatas bravas, which were huge chunks of potatoes that were a bit soggy and the sauce wasn’t really that flavorful or spicy. We got pimentos de predron which were your standard peppers, and a tortilla de patata with jamon which was not great compared to the others I’ve had in Spain. My husband got the paella which was kind of grey in color (can’t tell in the photo bc the light was reflecting off yellow window shades) and had quite a bit excess liquid, overall the flavor of that paella was okay. The servers were HUSTLING all night and I give them a lot of credit for serving the whole restaurant themselves. This place reminded me of the Spanish version of an American Chili’s.

Just an OK place to eat. Do not expect personal service as the waiters are running left and right. They forgot to deliver my appetizer order and didn't even say sorry. Our waiter was very very impersonal never said hello and appeared rushed and upset. English is not spoken here so don't expect any help. The tomatoes were not fresh and were all WRINKLED. The chicken in our ensalada and plancha were served in small amount but then again it was only 9.50 per plate. The mineral water was 2 Euros each, however they were served in a glass cold jug container that is OPEN. It tasted more like cold tap water to us but who knows.

The servers were nice and service was decent. The food was ok. We ordered the squid (sepia), chicken salad (neptuno), and grilled chicken plate (real madrid). The sepia appetizer came out at the end but no big deal. The chicken salad was heavily dressed, not too much chicken, and way too many croutons. There was also a lot of wilted lettuce and the tomatoes did not seem fresh (the skin was wrinkly). This place actually reminds me of a diner. It's an ok bad place of you're hungry and just liking to fill your stomach

Whilst meandering Madrid late at night (23:00), looking for a place for dinner that was not only still open but also had a crowd (to let us know, visually, if the place was popular), we came across La Española. We immediately sat down, ordered two cervezas (received complimentary tapas), jamón (prosciutto), patatas bravas and slow roasted oxtail. This was our first time ordering and enjoying the famous jamón that everyone seems to rave about and now we know why! The jamón is much more flavorful, fresh and scrumptious that what we are used to in the U.S. It is served on a platter with mini baguette crostinis and somehow the meat is so tender, it feels like it melts in your mouth! We would definitely recommend this dish anywhere you go throughout Spain! The patatas bravas is a side dish composed of roasted potatoes topped with a spicy red salsa. This is a dish you will find on just about every single restaurant menu you come across in Spain as it is a staple and quite delicious. The salsa has just enough heat, the potatoes are cooked perfectly and it is filling. Lastly, the slow roasted oxtail was rich and savory. The dish was composed of three oxtail servings over a bed of roasted potatoes and the flavors were decent but not extraordinary. I would say that you have to be vocal when it comes to this place if you want anything from the servers, but after having encountered this throughout our travels in Spain, it seems to be customary to do so. The atmosphere is a bit noisy, but that also seems to be the standard for any restaurant, especially eating out so late. Our server spoke a little English, which helped us out a little bit throughout our dinner experience. Pro Tip: - Be assertive - Learn their language - Pay cash (faster and easier)

The staff was very patient and friendly despite having to serve a huge crowd on a busy Sunday. Good job. Location is good too. We sat outdoor under the umbrellas, environment was lovely. Unfortunately, big disappointment over (1) the paella, as we had tasted many before at other restaurants, this rice was very hard and taste was off, too much of Tumeric. (2) Pork chop was hard too. The garnish was too sweet, and the round whitish food which was not in the description in the English menu, tasted like goat cheese and definitely not appropriate for Asians.

booking with agency. we agreed on a breakfast with fresh products for 42 people. for 4 days they served us milk and coffee and croissants from the supermarket. poor hygiene.

No hay opción de pedir nada de la carta modificado, ni si quiera unas tostadas del desayuno. El café de malísima calidad. Pedimos tostadas con queso curado y nos dicen que no tienen, lo que al salir vemos una bandeja repleta en la vitrina.

Fatal experiencia discriminación racismo fomenta el local con su salonero ( uno en específico sr grueso con lentes ) casi nos golpea se puso en posición de pelear a golpes que nos fuéramos que porque éramos latinos; estamos de turismo venimos a dejar nuestros ahorros en Madrid el simplemente se molestó y alteró mal por solicitar nos tome la orden; no lo recomiendo por nada; el salonero si podía golpearnos lo hacía. Al final nos levantamos y nos fuimos porque estábamos con un niño; muy mala imagen de las costumbres españolas y sobre de ese restaurante TABERNA ESPAÑOLA no vayan turistas les insultarán y golpearán.

Pedimos jamon iberico (20€) y es d paquete normalito d supermercado puesto en el plato, pedimos boquerones q estaban mas negros q el sobaco d kunta kinte y también un plato combinado d patatas, huevos y lomo en el q los huevos estaban crudos. También pedimos pan q no sabia a nada. Venimos con frecuencia x Madrid. No repetiria experiencia.
