We celebrated our anniversary there and they did try to make it special for us, with 2 free drinks and a nice dessert addition. The food was very nice, we ordered pork chop as the main and it was very really nicely cooked, and the sauce was fantastic. We view from the restaurant was beautiful, especially at night, looking at the castle and its reflection, quite magical. We had breakfast here the next morning and it was a great selection. We had the full breakfast which was very well cooked, and then there was a selection of bread, fruit, yogurt, ham and cheese, juices etc, a great to the day!

We decided to go to Leeds castle to take some pictures of the surrounding grounds, we decided to have some lunch in the castle view restaurant, what a great atmosphere and wonderful views of the castle, there is good option of food, we went for the veggie halloumi burger with chips and coleslaw which was delicious, my dad had a a jacket potato with cheese and beans, which I was very surprised at the portion of cheese he got! Highly recommend

Our son decided to treat us to a new restaurant venue for our wedding anniversary. We were delighted he had chosen this establishment. It was a lovely setting, just outside the Leeds Castle grounds in Kent. On this day, it wasn't particularly busy, so we had a reasonably quiet setting with a magnificent view of the castle from the terrace. The service here was exemplary. The staff were very attentive. We were able to choose from the evening menu, and this was bought out in virtually no time at all. My son had the battered fish, my wife, the beefburger, and I the 8oz Ribeye steak. All were very well presented. I have given 4 stars because I wanted a medium cooked steak and received medium rare. Also, the chips I received had quite a few bits of batter in them. This suggests that either they've used the same vat to cook the fish and chips. Or, they stored the chips in the same area/tray as the fish. This did not though spoil the meal. Hats to the pastry chef!! The deserts were absolutely gorgeous. No complaints there. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The service is impeccable. I would definitely recommend it. You will need to book, as this requires a gated entry at most times of the day.

We had a lovely evening at Castle View for dinner. They were flexible and were able to get us in before our reservation time, but even if they’d not been able to accommodate there’s a wonderful bar you can take advantage of while waiting. The food was spectacular! I had a sea bass dish and it was fresh and perfectly prepared. My partner had the duck breast and shared a similar sentiment. The staff of the Castle View is what makes this experience a must-have. They are wonderful and warm and so knowledgeable about their offerings and about local wines and other drinks.

Good variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options on the menu ! Very good service! It’s interesting the calorie count are listed next to each dish which is very helpful for my husband who is tracking his calorie intake while as an intuitive eater I would personally prefer a menu without calorie count. Wish there is the option to pick menu with / without calories count on the menu like we can pick still or sparkling water .

Couldn't have asked for a better experience! The view was amazing with the castle in the background. Make sure to see our amazing dusk photo. it's not doctored at all! We had afternoon tea, dinner, and breakfast here. Everything we had was prepared to perfection and presented with such charm. Wait staff is creme of the crop. We closed the place down one night, so we got to chat with most of them for a while. They are all super friendly. The restaurant itself is set up very nicely. The patio out back gives you the best view of the castle. Whether you're staying overnight or just visiting for the day, you need to grab a bite here.

Went to Leeds Castle today and ended up in Castle view restaurant. We didn't expect to have a Sunday Roast but we did. It was very tasty and substantial. I had roast beef, hubby had roast pork. Great selection of vegetables. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Obviously the view was spectacular. We wanted to give a tip but only took cash. We had no cash. Thank you all for a lovely, tasty lunch

I had a solo meal while staying for the evening. Staff were friendly and welcoming, attentive and professional. I didn't have to wait for service, the whole team worked well together and everything flowed perfectly. The duck was cooked to perfection and the lemon tart was the best I've tasted in a long while. The ambiance and dining room itself was well laid out. I will be booking to go back again.

Lovely food with an amazing view of the castle. Apparently they had a new menu, we had crab pate and the mackerel which were both lovely and amazingly presented, mains we had confit duck which was delicious. Wish there was just a bit of green on the plate but other than that can't moan as it was all cooked perfectly and the flavours were amazing!

I went to Castle View Restaurant with my mother for lunch last Tuesday, and we had such a fantastic experience. For Lunch, I had a jacket potato with baked beans, but I asked to not have the side of dressed leaves as I don't like salad dressing at all and the waitress completely understood, which was great. My mother ordered a jacket potato also but with cheese and coleslaw and side salad, and both our dishes arrived at our table in precisely six minutes; I've never been served so fast at any other restaurant before. My jacket potato was really tasty and because I had no side salad, i got extra baked beans! I would like to thank all the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant for being so efficient and serving our food so well with a smile on their faces.

I stayed for three nights in the b&b, I used the restaurant once for an evening meal which was reasonable priced and well made. The breakfasts offered a good range of items with both hot and cold food. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great choice of food and drinks and nicely prepared! We stayed at Leeds castle for two nights and breakfast and dinner were included with our stay. Everyone is very welcoming! The food was tasty - beef really nicely done, very tender. We tried a local red wine which was very nice as well. Good choice of desserts - caramel custard slice and passion fruit delice were superb! Keep in mind that menu might be different depending on the seasons.

A great restaurant with a varied menu for lunch or dinner. Lovely views out the window of the castle with tables on a terrace by the water for summer. I had fish and chips with peas. Very tasty, batter was light. My friend had burger and chips. Nice chunky, skin on ones.

Was surprised by the prices! For such fine dining atmosphere, food and services, meals costed just like a family restaurant! And that was amazing! Stayed 2 nights in the castle and so we had 4 meals there. Breakfasts were lovely, kitchen supplied different food for both days. Dinners were fabulous! The Gammon Knuckle was heavenly. Tender, juicy, tasty and full of collagen; It was more than enough for 2 to share. Thank you for the good service. Would love to try the curry dish next time.

What a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. I had a perfect evening of dining and admiring. Service was excellent from start to finish, both humble and perceptive. Food was on the fine dining scale and priced reasonably for food of this quality. There is a lot to be said about fresh bread served at restaurants. At Castle View Restaurant the artisan rolls are freshly prepared and piping hot. Always enjoyable way to begin. An Asian inspired amuse Bouche was offered to follow. Each one of my 3 courses arrived adorned with artistry detail. The main, a whole plaice, was one of the best fish dishes I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Buttery, flaky, it was sumptuous. As I sat at my window side table I looked out and admired a view of the castle. This venue is romantic, scenic and relaxed. I loved it.

We enjoyed a most pleasant light lunch overlooking the castle. The poughman came with flavoursome pickles and picadilly and a thick piece of gammon and a doorstop wedge of cheese.

Fabulous birthday meal celebrated here. Food was delicious and well presented and the staff were lovely and very attentive. The gorgeous view of the castle whilst eating was of course a bonus - highly recommend.

Stayed over in one of the stable rooms and had dinner here for my hen do. Manager Mario is absolutely marvellous he is friendly, professional and created a nice atmosphere on what was a quiet Thursday night. We had a couple of small issues that he quickly rectified and made our night more enjoyable. The food was excellent and they were very supportive of my sisters nut allergy. Breakfast too was really fresh, of nice quality and the view of the castle is breathtaking. Really hope to return one day. Thanks again Mario!

Had dinner and breakfast here, as we stayed over, the food was delicious, breakfast was a buffet but we chose the full English, was tasty and dry is up for a day exploring the castle and grounds

The restaurant has lovely views of the castle across the moat. We shared the camenbert starter which was delicious! I would recommend the Chicken main and the apple crumble and bread and butter pudding were delightful - we couldn't have eaten anything else. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we felt extremely safe with all the covid measures in place. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

We enjoyed drinks out on the balcony and the staff were happy for us to eat there too. The croquettes and the salmon starters were tasty, and pork belly and seared trout on crushed potatoes mains were delicious too. Leeds Castle is a beautiful location and we had friendly service from Megan and her colleagues. Thank you all!

Excellent place to visit with kids or on your own. Vast gardens, lots to see. Entry to the castle is included in the ticket—a great playground for kids with falconry and a maze.

My husband and I recently stayed at Leeds Castle and ate breakfast at the Castle View Restaurant two days and dinner one evening. Breakfast had continental options, a full English breakfast, and dishes you could order from the kitchen. Everything was delicious! For dinner we ordered the Crunchy Squid Rings, Moroccan Lamb Kofta, Rib Eye Steak with Pink Peppercorn Sauce, and the Braised Pork Belly. I think the squid might've been our favorite but each dish was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We also each had a Bailys Espresso Martini after dinner. It was smooth and a great option in lieu of a traditional dessert.

The restaurant view is just stunning, the Risotto awesome, the beer ice cold ... so: Hail to the king, baby! 👍🏻🤘🏻 Leeds Castle was celebrating the 500th anniversary of The Field of Cloth of Gold – a renowned festival that took place in 1520 near Calais as part of a summit between King Henry VIII of England and King François I of France. A recent study of historical records into this meeting of Kings, has raised a big question over one of the most famous events in the Castle’s history. Did King Henry VIII actually stay at Leeds Castle on his way to Dover 500 years ago today on the 22nd May 1520, as has always been thought? We were not able to find out... 😄

Vegan burger was good, roasts were excellent, but fish and chips a bit underwhelming

I had a lovely evening at this restaurant, I dined alone but the staff were warm and welcoming and attentive. The food was incredible and I'm glad I left room for the pudding, a white chocolate brulee which was like heaven on a spoon! Just be aware that they cannot take a tip by card payment, so come with cash as this is somewhere that you will be happy to leave your thanks for a great service. *Edit - I went back the next morning for breakfast and the staff were equally amazing and the food great.

Delicious bream fish main course, my wife loved the beef burger and chips. Highly recommend. Great service and relaxed atmosphere.

The food and service was incredible and very good. The view of the castle was so lovely. It is worth it if you're visiting the castle and fancy some food. Very good quality. The mains are around £16 each but obviously differ based on different things.

Great family restaurant with British cuisine. Quiet pleasant music, warm and cozy inside. Not so many people as I visited on Wednesday. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet and cozy atmosphere. Make sure you book it, it is needed for the gates. Picturesque view of a castle

Had a lovely meal at the castle view restaurant, high quality food, everythint nice and clean. All elements of service were just as they should be. I would be very happy to eat here again

K

Fantastic menu and food quality. Great choice of cocktails reasonably priced. Service was a little patchy even though it didn't look that busy. But staff very nice. Only slight disappointment was the castle view, which you could not see well from the table due to the brightness of the restaurant lights, especially those around the window - which detrimentally affected the ambience. Only good photo opportunity was from the patio outside - so I'd imagine tables would be sited on the patio in summer. But overall very nice evening. Will be back - in the summer.

First time here, was at Motors By The Moat and thought I'd get a roast donner at the Castle View. I didn't wait long to get served.amd the staff were very good and attentive. I ordered a coke zero and the roast beef dinner. The drink arrived quickly and shortly after the food arrived. There was a substantial amount of vegetables, peas, broccoli, red cabbage and roasties. There were so parsnips which I do not eat. My only slight moan was about the beef. It was very very chewy. Nice but chewy. I made a.comment to one of the staff and they apologised. Id definitely go there again but probably wouldn't get the beef again

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The view is stunning and the food was tasty with a varied enough menu for meat eaters (veggies will just about cope… vegans I wouldn’t visit!) The view and the decent enough food (for the price) make it worth a visit but I wouldn’t expect top end service or a substantial wine list. The staff are young and there wasn’t any real managing going on. It’s fine until you encounter little issues, even such as a wobbly table, which just took far more energy to resolve than you’d expect. We booked weeks before and requested a window table but on arrival we were told there are none available, which is fine and understandable. To then eat dinner on a table with no castle view but a great view of 3 empty window tables for our whole visit (to which there were no other bookings after 9pm on the Euro cup final!) is a bit cheeky. What makes this stand out is that the majority of visitors will either be coming for a special occasion, or staying in the accommodation and paying a fair amount. If I owned this restaurant I would be proud of the food served but would focus on customer focused training, starting with the manager. It would make this magical setting just perfect to have food + view = make it special for every single visitor.

Had breakfast and dinner here twice. Good food and nicely presented. Nreakfast has some buffet and also some different kinds of breakfasts you can order. The trout and the chicken are good. You have a view of the castle. Reservation is advised. If the weather is good, you can sit outside on the terrace and have an even better view Have to mention Aron, who serves breakfast. Very nice young man with a pleasant vibe. He remembers who you are and is not superficial and is really honestly interested.

The fish and chips were good, my spouse had a hamburger which was a typical meal. The menu is limited but a charming restaurant if you want to have a meal while visiting the castle. The service was a bit slow but they seemed under staffed. The manager was working very hard though. The views are amazing from the patio.

L

The restaurant is located not inside the castle itself but a short walk away. It's in a beautiful converted barn that actually over looks the castle, making for some truly stunning views to enjoy while you dine. I had the castle burger, with added cheese and it was delicious. It came with skin on fries which are a favourite of mine. My friend had the fish and chips which she very much enjoyed. Tea is served in a pot, which we all know is very agreeable. The staff are lovely, helpful and very knowledgeable about the grounds.

Lovely view of the castle from the outside seating. Really nice food. Service a little disorganised - took us about 1 hr between being seated and getting food, but they did apologise and we may have just been unlucky.

We had 3 meals and only 1 out of 3 was nice, which was a butternut squash ravioli. The burger was served with cold fries and fish and chips had no flavour and came with cold fries. There was no salt or pepper on the tables, and no sauces offered. For the ice late we had to take sugar from the bar, in cubes, which was not the best combination when it comes to iced coffee. The decor and atmosphere were lovely, and the service was friendly and welcoming. The food however and the lack of basics like salt and pepper didn't leave a good impression.

H
Hajrah M

The view was beautiful and breathtaking. Would be good if they had heaters outside for those cold nights where you can sit outside and enjoy the food. Food is typical British and quite bland in flavour. Wouldn’t recommend. The desserts were banging!

Great food, amazing location, terrible after sales service. Clearly a mix up with the menu pricing.... Would management admit to the mistake.. no chance... No apology... If you are using the Lakeside Lodges with Breakfast and evening meal included be careful about extra costs on food...

We had an overnight stay, inc. Dinner and Breakfast. On the Dinner menu, there is not much choice for Vegetarians. Bottles of wine are very expensive (Prosecco, £38) The wine waiter was curt in my opinion. Apart from spilling the wine, and saying he was tired, he couldn't wait to leave our table. The restaurant manager/head waiter was totally different. Very polite and recommending various dishes. Both our starters and mains were very good. My Sea Bream was probably the best fish dish I've tasted. We ordered a portion of seasonal vegetables, which were well cooked and enough for two. We shared a Cheese board, which we thought was poor value for money. £11.50, for three small pieces of cheese, six crackers and chutney. We had to ask for two plates and knives.... A bit like Fawlty Towers Breakfast, the next morning. There was a good selection, Continental (cereals, croissants, pastries, cheese, meat, yogurts etc). The hot breakfast was a full English, inc. hash browns and black pudding. All the Breakfasts were buffet style. You could order Veggie sausages, if you wanted them. The hot breakfast was ok, but the scrambled egg, in my opinion, under cooked. Plenty of tea and coffee available. The restaurant was nicely laid out and clean. The breakfast waiting staff were very friendly and polite. Don't expect white table cloths I only gave three stars because of the lack of choice on the dinner menu, eye watering prices. Breakfast was £20, ours was included in the price The dinner waiter, (spilling wine, we all make mistakes) I don't want to know if you're tired. There is a large patio, where you can eat your meals. It overlooks the Castle and moat. Unfortunately, there were a lot of leaves and rubbish scattered over the patio. Although not spoiling our meals or stay, it doesn't create a good impression

Unfortunately our visit started poorly as a staff member mocked us for being vegetarian after I enquired as to weather the Afternoon Tea could come with vegetarian sandwiches. He said it was unlikely we would be accommodated, and laughed at us, implying we were fussy. Seemed reluctant to invite us in. This was after we waited several minutes to be seated despite the restaurant being fairly empty. I almost walked out there and then, but I'm glad that we chose to persevere. The staff member's behaviour improved after I complained to a different waiter, and to his credit he became very attentive and more friendly. By contrast, the other waiter also said that obviously in this day and age they could do veggie afternoon tea. Afternoon Tea was lovely, and with the view of the castle (sit outside!), worth it at £22 per head. However, there were only 4 finger sandwiches each, and the vegetarian options were egg mayo, or cucumber with... Nothing! A bit of cream cheese would go a long way. A bit odd, but the cakes, scones, and unlimited tea were lovely. There are also vegan options on the menu.

J
Jenny Rust

Disappointing, overall. Our view was more of a brick wall than the castle, our drinks took ages to arrive, my starter (wild bout croquettes) was delicious but the main (risotto) was poor - flavourless and mushy. Expected much better quality for the money. The chap on the table behind me - a hotel guest - complained his steak was too chewy and was offered a free bottle of wine, sides, and desserts, but I wasn't offered anything despite sending most of my meal back to the kitchen. Not in a hurry to go back.

K
Kay Sanger

This was so disappointing. It was meant to be a themed afternoon tea. However there were just a few staff members with some wings. Nothing else. No theme. The food took 40 minutes to come out which is a crazy wait with kids. Then it was not themed and the quality was poor, crusty bread, the lemon tart leaked everywhere and the scones just crumbled in our hands. Our server Bella was great but the management were dismissive and short. At the end the kids get a gift which you would think is great. But the girls get a wand, headband and wings and the boys get a paper pirate hat. Our son felt very hard done by. For the cost you pay you could go to a handpicked hotel, and least the food would be fresh.

S
Surjit Bharath

I would not recommend having afternoon tea here based on my experience. From sitting down, the food didn't arrive till 40 minutes later. Choices of teas is minimal. I wouldn't call this a classic afternoon tea experience apart from the fact that the food came on a three tier cake stand. Our server Bella was really nice and this review is no reflection on her, in fact I would say she was the only part of the service that was exemplary. Food was OK. Drinks choice and selection of food that came out was not the quality I was expecting at the price we paid. It is eye wateringly expensive, our family of 5 cost £122.50. You'll get a better experience, presentation and food choice for a cheaper price elsewhere.

C
Cristian Negut Nicusor (youtUBER)

Total disappointment, restaurant closed 14:30 and on google it says it’s open. Also the directions take you to a wrong location. We spend 40 mins to find this castle then we had to go eat somewhere else as was closed. Even to visit the castle costs 36£! This peoples are absurd. No recommend this place for sure!
