Good sized salad bar with good choices. Buffet lunch available on Fridays and Sundays. Excellent service. I had a bacon cheeseburger and hand cut fries (not frozen)and it was good. Oct.23, 2022 - Update to previous review. Went back today for Sunday buffet lunch & was not disappointed, again. There was plenty of choices & service was outstanding. Our server was a lady that I recognized from the (now closed ) B&B in Athens. Excellent service from not only her but also David ( owner? manager?) who was out on the floor the whole time, checking with customers & looking after the buffet table constantly. Our server was recognized by several customers as they came in & got a few hugs. David seemed to know several as well. The peach cobbler topped with ice cream was the perfect ending. I will have to make sure I head over to Malakoff more often. Its great to be in an atmosphere with people who are happy.

We found this little place as we were driving through town and looking for a place that had good burgers. After reading the menu and reviews we actually decided to get fish and shrimp. The plate included a trip to the salad bar as well as the bean bar and free dessert. The food and service were both equally amazing. Prices were great and the place was very clean. Great experience and we will most definitely be back.

Passing through and stopped here to eat. The staff was incredibly friendly. Mollie…?I think was her name was so friendly, efficient, and provided great service. We opted out on the Friday night buffet even though it looked amazing. The fries snd onion rings were awesome. My very picky children cleaned their plates. Husband got a cheeseburger and I got a chicken sandwich. Everything was really great! We all left full and happy. We will def stop here again on our way through.

Friday night buffet is delicious! Staff is friendly and chefs normally walk through dining room to make sure everyone is enjoying the food. Cant wait to come back!

Really Impressed. 1st Time at Bean and Burger in Malakoff. Awesome food. Chefs made Greatest Soup ever tasted. Tortilla Soup the bomb. Special today was Hamburger steak soup and salad bar for 9.95. Was perfect.....Cant even believe such great food. Was so happy. Management great. Service great. And Chef out always to make sure food great. 10 STARS. Are in order.

We've visited several times now, and am happy to report that we always get excellent service. The wait staff are friendly, personable and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food is outstanding, fresh and hot every time, and the bill is pocketbook friendly. 💯

Nice cafe with made from scratch comfort food, a salad bar, 3 kettles with pinto beans, taco soup and chili beans and corn bread and a blue bell ice cream bar included with most meals. Fresh cut fries, steaks, 1/2 pound hamburgers and great service for just a couple dollars more than a number 1 at the Golden Arches. Remember to bring your appetite.

The owners, David and Tammy, were absolutely dear and pleasant. They are hard workers- diligent, and you can see they care about each customer that comes in and out of those doors, as well as the restaurant and food they serve. I appreciate their faith in God. Everything is clean, in order, and welcoming. They have gone out of their way to make their restaurant inviting and accommodating for customers' needs. It didn't feel like much of a wait for the food at all! And it wasn't, really. I enjoyed the decor and conversations in a relaxed environment. All ingredients and food were fresh. The amount you get for price is plenty generous. Everything tasted AMAZING! I would 10/10 eat there again. Good job y'all, and God bless you and your staff!

Such an awesome place new favorite restaurant by far. And very affordable 10/10 for me

Good food at a quality price. On this trip we had shrimp and onion rings. More than enough shrimp to take home for leftovers.

The town has infamously bad tasting water. I would recommend drink iced tea. It would be nice if they would get a filter system that would fix the bad taste.

We stopped in on our way to the Canton area. It was Sunday about 1:30 PM. The food was homemade with fresh ingredients. We had the opportunity to visit with the owner and found him, his staff and other guest delightful people. We highly recommend you stop in and support this restaurant.

What’s not to say.. ate lunch there on Tuesday and I’ve eaten now at all the beans and burgers that I know of ... I think this particular location is my favorite... I ordered the small catfish plate and still barely ate it all.. salad bar was well stocked.. Bean and soup bar had the most delicious pinto beans... could have made a meal of them by themselves! Our waitress was a jewel... When in Malakoff this is a super place to find a great Place for HomeCooking!! Will go back before I leave area!!

Driving by we stopped to try it out. Staff was very friendly. The owner came out and said hello to each costumer. The salad bar was fresh and crisp. I had the buffett. The catfish fried just right. The bread pudding was some of the best I have had. And Blue Bell is included with your meal.!!! My husband burger was huge and delish. Every order may help themselves to the beans and cornbread bar. If we ever pass by again we will be sure to stop.

We very much enjoyed the salad bar. There is plenty to choose from. You can make a meal out of just eating the salad bar. Steaks are just honestly not very good to us. The staff was very courteous. We will have to try other menu items.

First time going today. We always went to one in Athens. Decided to go to Malakoff because we missed it. We had fish buffet and it was outstanding as well as salad bar. Waitress was very good to and remembered her from Athens. I would have gone 5 stars except I hated the forks! Lol I know thats silly but they are so small and tines so close they won’t stab or pick up salad. We will be back often. The place is very nice to.

We got there about an hr before they closed. The food was really good, the owner was really nice too. The service was slow but there were only two waitresses working and had a few big tables. All in all it was pretty good!

Very clean place, all the drinks taste awful because of the water. All the food was bland except the fries. My hamburger stake was in a soup of brown grave. The mabank location seems to be much better. Everyone was really nice though.

The food was great!! However, the menu says “basket includes drink and fries.” They charged us $2 a drink. The waitress didn’t tell us it was no longer included with the basket! My husband and I ordered sweet potato fries and onion rings instead of the regular fries because she offered them. She did not tell us that there was an upcharge for them of $1.75 each. It would have been cheaper to order everything separately. I mentioned the drink to the manager and he said that new menus are on the way. I said well you can fix the menu by marking out the includes drink and/or having the waitress tell the customer. Just too lazy to do that I guess. If you don’t mind paying more than what you expect then the food is good.

I just had food brought to me and it was so bad. Almost 18.00 for fishing shrimp that was microwaved , the fish was under cooked, the shrimp was like eating crusty rubber bands ,the fries were under cooked , soggy wet, the hush puppies were raw in the middle. The meal was absolutely disgusting ! I will never recommend or dine with the establishment ever again. ABSOLUTELY NASTY

My wife and I bring our RV to Cedar Creek lake so we are always looking for new places to eat . Last year I had the Catfish dinner and it was still frozen inside. I just thought I would give it another chance. I got the Chicken Fried Steak and what a mistake that was ! Absolutely the Worst . It was one big chunk of Gristle ! No flavor whatsoever. I’m telling you you could not chew it . So I filled up on the green beans and salad bar . And the price ! 17.87 for that terrible steak ! Do yourself a favor and go to The Roost in Eustace ! The best food in East Texas! What a disaster that attempt at a Chicken Fried Steak ! So 2 times now I have been totally disappointed! Yuk !

I watched as I waited for my food that sat on the counter to be delivered to our table the owner stand in the way of the waitress which was doing an excellent job moving around him. When the owner /boss decided to get out of the waitress' way he made his way to every table talking about how much people love his restaurant. I watched him seat people with no drinks or menus as he told the busy waitress to get the drinks The service and the food were excellent but the owner seemed to go around ruining my appetite with all the talk up about his business. I would recommend he stay home and let the business run itself. He has managed to run several people I know off. Id rather support a business that encourages their employees and supports the business community rather than a man that is worried about if he is charging for every glass of tea. I even hear him say a few times "stick it to them they can afford a few dollars." I understand he is running a business but the whole sense of his fake concern or interest ruins my appetite everytime. Food and waitresses should be giving a five star. The whole success of his business is being saved by the one or two great waitress'.

This place looks sub par inside and out. My ribeye was a tough stringy cut of beef. The shrimp and potato was ok. The wait staff was attentive and accommodating. The salad bar was fresh and was really the best part of the menu.
