Great view of the Gondola and surrounding mountains. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The service was great, friendly and fast. The food was good, we tried the Elk bratwurst on a pretzel bun. The flavor was delish. The fries were super yummy and perfectly crisp. We would come back here to try some of the other plates.
Let me begin with the chicken schnitzel sandwich, basically perfect. We got one for the road. The staff was very friendly and responsive, food/drinks came out quickly. I also got the Bavarian chili - a table next to us asked what it was, then proceeded to order it. Love this place after a long day! It’s slightly less busy because it’s just outside the base as well which was really nice.
Great food! Wish they had a place like this near me!. Servers and waiters need more help. They have too many customers to help at once. That made service a little slow, but they were trying to keep up
As always, really good food in a Swiss style tavern. I wanted the roast beef sandwich but since it's end of their summer season no roast beef so I got the hamburger which I know is delicious. It's a bit pricy, but you only live once.
Old world look and feel. German infused menu. This restaurant has a big sunny deck, nice interior with ambience and wood carvings all around. You can sit by the fire in a recessed comfortable table. It is in very close walking distance to the gondola. The prices considering you are at a ski resort are not bad at all. I think a burger and fries is $17. The same as anywhere else, and it is seriously good. There is real german beer like Ayinger Brauweisse (or Hefeweizen beer) and a couple of other German beers, and of course American selections. You can even get a number of healthy salads here. Service was very good. I would try the stroganoff. It has an excellent sauce that is unique. It is not switzerland but as close as you can get in California. And right next to the lifts!
I absolutely love the Yodler! The Stein club is the best deal on the mountain, and the cost is a charitable donation for the kids! Plus you get your own stein above the bar! Come in and have some clean German beer, order a pretzel and sit by the fire or out on the sundeck!
Fondue was SO good. Dipping giant pretzel into fondue was so good
The perfect quick bite after a day on the mountain! If there’s one thing you get, it has to be the giant pretzel! It comes with a sweet mustard, spicy mustard, and beer cheese! Pretzels and beer, how could you go wrong?! Their chicken schnitzel sandwich is also really yummy! Everyone should give this place a try!

Great food and solid service. The pretzel is a bit pricey, but one of the beat I've had
The food was good. The drinks were amazing!
Careful with that pretzel, they aren't kidding when they say it's huge!! Great place to grab a beer and unwind are a long day on the mountain.
Great place to get a pretzel and a beer. Good food and service too. They have a fireplace.
The Yodler is awesome! Pretzel is great! Brats r great! Great selection of beer. Cool vibes.
Great rope sandwich, chicken schnitzel, and fondue. Happy and helpful waitress. Fun alpine environment, we will go back with the family.
Great place at main for a beer and a snack. If you carry enough speed down Broadway you can almost ride into the seating area. Buy a mug get your name on it for 100 bucks. Support the youth of East side.
German food was awesome and the selection of German Beers a win. Had the pretzel and Chicken Schinzal and both were amazing, will definitely be back!
Great food! Great Beer! Request to sit by the fireplace, it is my favorite spot to sit.
This place has all the charm of a mountain haus. Cow bells everywhere and the swiss misses lol. Real Poutine on menu too! The Elk Poutine is so good I didn't even eat fries the rest of the day. Every mountain place has Poutine but they are all impostors. The Yodler uses all the true elements to this dish. Swiss-Bavarian menu. Deck is open on Thurs-Sun.
Best spot on the mountain to eat.
By far my favorite place on the mountain for a drink and a meal. The staff is amazing and the food is awesome! The jagerschnitzel is so good!!
It might be expensive, but seasoned fries are $9 and ANYA is the sweetest, most caring bartender, ever. So pay up and enjoy your time in mammoth!
I went to Mammoth with my family for a vacation time. We were lucky to find this restaurant. Food and services are great. Christopher, our server was the best! Food was delicious and very tasty 😋
Oh yeah what a great place this was. The views are spectacular cool old bar. You got to try the bratwurst on pretzel roll.
Some of the best food on Mammoth Mountain. A great place to expand your lunch selection in the middle of enjoying great skiing!
Best lunch on the mountain. Food is always hearty. Good beer selection.
It's got on mountain prices but other than that this place is the spot. Great food, great beer, Austrian vibe and great outdoor deck bar 👍
Great spot and service. Prices were a bit insane, but location.
We had creamy chicken salad and jalapeno cheddar bratwurst. Both were excellent. Beer and wine also good. Service was quick and friendly. Prices better than many restaurants down in town. Overall great choice for lunch or dinner.
Awesome food! Hubby liked the bratwurst and the fries. The fries have tasty seasonings. I had a salad that was awesome. I also had the flat bread that was delicious. Highly recommend!
This place is great. Delicious food and great service. They have the best pretzel and chicken and dumplings I’ve ever had. I come from the south, where chicken and dumplings are everywhere, so that is saying a lot. The beyond meat sausage bratwursts was out of this world, too.
Amazing food! If you would like to stop by after a day on the mountain, it’s the perfect place! They have many food and drink options as well as a warm, cozy fireplace! They have great service and kind waiters and waitresses. Just be prepared if you come here during a holiday or a busy mountain event because it does get very crowded here.
Omg!! Amazing!! They have a schnitzel!! It was so perfect that I asked for a second and third schnitzel! I would recommend not to take it as a sandwich, throw the bun away and ask for the schnitzel on a plate with all the veggies and the cheese aside, it's like $8 extra for each extra schnitzel so you can have as many as you want!! One of the best food experiences I had in United States
I'm updating my original review. After a long day of pedaling at the bike park, there is nothing better than the giant pretzel to eat. The staff is very friendly. Everybody was having a great time.
THE BEST PLACE TO EAT ON MOUNTAIN, PERIOD. Seriously, this is such a gem. The kitchen puts so much care into the menu and ingredients and more. Amazing Bavarian foods served by the nicest people in the Sierra in a building with incredible history. There's even non-meat vegetarian things that are superb. It's a completely different level of cuisine than the industrial stuff everywhere else and the prices are great too. Bartenders are also skilled mixologists. Once you know this secret you'll never eat elsewhere on the mountain.
Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient waiters. Enjoyed the German beer variety. The food was amazing, tasty and good portions. The kids portions are somewhat smaller than expected. Super quick service.
The food was fresh, well prepared and tasty. It was busy, but our server, Jessica, was amazing!! She was very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed, despite having a busy section. Her suggestions were perfect! We will come back and request Jessica!
Love this place !!! The large chalet is "alpine authentic " In the heart of Mammoth ski area The interior is great Sunken fire place , open kitchen and Bar indoor /,outdoor seating My salad was fantastic And the large pretzel is a "must Have"it served 5 with wonderful dipping sauces Kids loved the pizza on the kids menu Next time we go we are getting the sausage platter ...yum❤️
After a morning of skiing it was such a pleasure to come down, loosen my boots, and enjoy an amazing sandwich/meal!!! The whole experience is incredible, from staff to quality of food, so great, and not to mention the view is absolutely stunning!!! Can't wait until next season!!!
Wow! Best food on the mountain. Unusual beer selections and unique food. Try the duck fat fries or the classic LARGE pretzel. My favorites! We try something new every visit. Be Careful. Sometimes that extra beer can make you miss the last lift. No worries! Just take the red line bus to the village. Make friends at the Yodler or on the bus ride down. LoL
A great place to relax and fuel up! My sister and I showed up with the younger kids while the older kids were mountain biking. We had no idea when they would be meeting us for lunch, so we just ordered appetizers and relaxed. Scott was awesome as a server, as well as helping to keep the younger kids entertained. He even brought over mustache stickers, which was a big hit! When the rest of our group arrived, they got us seated and ordered quickly. All in all, we spent over three hours at The Yodler. Scott was attentive the entire time, along with help from Xavier and Matt. I highly recommend The Yodler for a quick bite, or a lazy afternoon relaxing. Scott, Xavier, and Matt.... you guys rock!! Thanks for the fun! :)
Always a great stop for a warm up a drink and a bite. Authentic Bavarian beer and pretzel. They have a stien available for purchase with proceeds going to local charity for kids. Buy a one and they will engrave it with your name and keep it for you there. Discounted refills for the season. Excited to get up there more this season.
Got immediately struck by the beauty of the restaurant that kinda reminded me of my favorite place in my home town. The menu offered a lot of different meals at a really good price and the waiter that served us was extremely nice. Everything we ate was great but The Giant Pretzel really put the cherry on top. Would absolutely come back☆
Best place to end our snow day!! Comfy, hospitable, and chill. Pretzels are huge, very tasty, warm, and are complimented with charcuterie items. Indoor or outdoor, enjoy it with family, friends, and meet new friends.
The quality of the food it quite high. We had the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich and the best Waldorf Salad that I have ever eaten. Fun to visit in the summer. We ate here after taking the gondola to the top of the mountain. Great summer day.
Always love the Yodler after a day of skiing. This last visit was extra awesome - sitting outside the server (Ailan?) was fantastic as was the chicken sandwich and salad, local brews and perfect views. Love the Yodler experience!
Always love me some Yodler! The best GINORMOUS pretzel with yummy cheese sauce, homemade mustard and honey mustard! This beast can feed a whole family! Don’t forget the brats and kraut. All the food here is amazing and the staff - even better. Thanks Yodler Team!

Beautiful space, great service. Both of us had trouble finding something on the menu, as it isn't our typical style of food. But we had limited options coming up here for the shuttle. But not judging on our taste, the quality seemed very good - both the salad and loaded fries. For me, the fries with gravy tasted very much like a gravy used in 'biscuits and gravy', which did throw me off.
German beer selection and pretzels are amazing! Pretzel is huge, fondue is good but a little small. Pork Jaeger Schnitzel was ok, but my wife absolutely loved the Eggplant Schnitzel, which had a tasty spicy sauce.
Great service. Ok food. Good beer.
There’s not a lot of food options at the base of the mountain, but the food was decent here. Kind of pricey for what you get.

Summer visit. Nice place to grab a bite. Limited menu. Great on tap draft beer.
Great salads. Good beer. Amazing pretzel. Bit on the expensive side...
Fun apre spot. Needs to stay open longer
Excellent food and drink in a fun, mountain atmosphere. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is their bizarre hours. They close rather early, and are not open except during peak season. If they were open more often, I'd certainly be there more often.
Exactly what you need after a session in the slopes, though it is kind of pricey. Brat and Duck Fat fries were hearty and satisfying, while the $5 local draft beer for happy hour was a good deal.
The brats and kraut were tasty. Server/bartender was attentive. Cute dining room.
Very nice lunch, good portions and Jennifer ,our server was great. Pizza and sandwiches were top notch.
Pretzel was great. Wings were great. Small penalty for the interior of the restaurant (kinda stale, slightly malodorous, in need of some investment)
This was our second time here at the Yodler. The first time we came was last year in February, and my husband fell in love with their GINORMOUS pretzel. Unfortunately, this time, it seemed that the pretzel was stale and not very warm. My husband was really looking forward to it, but now he's realizing that maybe they're not made fresh every morning?? The service, though initially great, was scarce, and it wasn't even busy. It seemed that we had to keep waving our server down after we received our food and drink. When we visit Mammoth again, we'll definitely give it another try. Hopefully, we will have that first-time experience!!
Stopped for lunch here before the snowmobiling adventure. We ordered the pretzel which was huge and delicious: definitely shared for two. I had a Bloody Mary which was okay; the flavor profile was a bit odd. Server was wonderful. It missed 5 stars because of the prices, but that’s just like everything else at Mammoth. We would eat here again!
Went in July, not during ski season. So it was much quieter than it would be in winter. Friendly, fast service. Food was good, but a bit on the expensive side (it's at the base of a ski resort, so not unexpected). Known for their giant pretzel, which was is, in fact very large. It is yummy and filling and is enough of an appetizer for at least 4 people. They do have a kids menu, but you have to ask.
We definitely enjoyed our break from mountain biking with a cold beer and some food from the Yodler. I love how they have imported German beers which I can't help but get when on draft. They come in steins which is always a plus. I got the bratwurst which was pretty good, only issue I had was how expensive the price was. But when you are at a mountain resort its expected. There is ample outside seating and the indoor section is decorated as if you were in the Alps. I am looking forward to coming back here in the winter and giving it another shot.
Favorite apres location from my week vacation. Warm days out on the deck and cold ones inside the cozy restraunt. Most meals were great, one was very confused... otherwise it would have been 5 stars for food. Fondue cheese was heaven.
Decent food and great atmosphere. I wish they had a better menu selection as it was somewhat limited. Bring back the fondue please 🙏
Bratwurst, burgers, and fries were very good. A bowl of soup came out to the table lukewarm, though.
We stopped here to grab some food after enjoying the local mountains festivities. The overall experience was 50/50. Food was delicious and there were some more unique menu items to try. We enjoyed the food. The bad part was having to keep asking for things like silverware, straws, water, and parts of our orders that they kept forgetting to give us like the condiments/dressings ect. Our server was great and friendly, but there was a 2nd server that almost seemed annoyed when we'd ask for anything. Again the food was good but not worth how pricy it was.

Was closed, however online it said it was open. We drove few miles to get here just to learn the online info was not actually correct. Cool location. - not considered and needs brushing up-!
Decent service, food came out in a timely fashion. The bbq pulled pork sandwich had a bland sauce with good coleslaw and good crispy onions, decent pricing, very friendly environment. Duck fat fries were very good and the salad was too salty. Great lunch menu with lots of variety and great beer selection. Quality has gone downhill since years past.
If you come here, make sure your party no more than 6 because it's only 6 per table and if your party isn't there when they call you, they will need to go the end of line. My infant son counted, so I waited outside while my girl eat and then we swap, so I can eat too. The hot chocolate is water down. The big pretzel was bomb. My girl said it had to much salt but I thought it was just right. We also got a side of fries and those where also very good. I would of rated higher but there's no sign notifying you of a max per table and when they told us, they were rude about it, like we should of known.
Had the brat, it was ok. Nothing special about it. The restaurant was fairly empty, maybe 2 other tables with people, we were sat quickly, by the hostess But, it took 15 minutes for someone to take our order.

Updated review: no IKON discount is lame. Pretzel is WAY overpriced at $29 bucks now and ours was hard as a rock and bone dry gross. We used to love this place apres. Now we will skip it completely.

Cute spot looking on to the mountain but $14 for a beer and juice is ridiculous. Plus both members of staff that were serving behind the bar were rude.
Update 3/17/2025: disappointed they removed their vegan brought braut. No vegan options unless you heavily modify. 2022: Really enjoyed my experience here! Great food with fast service so you can hit the slopes again. We got the chicken and dumplings, a small pretzel with beer cheese, and a beyond sausage in polenta bun. All really good. My boyfriend said it was the best pretzel and chicken and dumplings he’s ever had. We will be back!
I used to really love this place but the prices for drinks and food have gotten out of hand in the last two seasons. Further… the restrooms are disgusting. If you’re going to charge $25 for a hot pretzel and $14 for a beer then please ensure the restrooms are presentable.
Excellent food. Service is pretty shitty. They gave away our food to another table and we had to wait forever. Think the birthday girl bartenders friends that were here got a bunch of free shots and our food that was "mistakenly" dropped off on the wrong table.
We ordered 9 plates of food that were apparently “taken” from the kitchen. We never got the food and were comped two pretzels, a Diet Coke and a beer. The staff were rude through out. Pretzels where really good though!

This was the nastiest food in mammoth!! The only thing they have going for themselves is the giant pretzel. Do not go in here looking for tasty food. Does not exist.
Location is great, nice place to sit and relax after a hike, however service was poor, drinks expensive, and the appetizer we ordered (duck fat fries) were just OK. (and expensive.) We had higher expectations. Highly recommend Mammoth Brewery just down the hill.
Awful experience thanks to the blonde woman with the tattoos working the patio who is “a manager at the lodge.” Our 4 and 6 year olds are crying right now because of how she treated us, so thanks for ruining the day. As a family of former servers and restaurant managers, we a thousand percent understand that this job can be a pain and that customers can be annoying. That said, we were literally just sitting at a table on the patio, which appeared to be open seating, and she was beyond condescending to us from the moment we sat down for no apparent reason. Instead of a greeting she snapped, “Did you ask them if you could sit here?” referring to the couple at the other end of the table who didn’t mind at all. She then circled back to rudely ask if we had already ordered and we said yes, through the QR code, because we thought that’s what we were supposed to do. She comes back in a huff to drop our order off and curtly says “you can’t eat this here.” I told her that she wasn’t being very polite, and there’s no reason to be speaking to us that way. As a response (or was it an excuse?) she proudly announced that she is the manager of the restaurant. While I highly doubt that, if it’s true it’s a real red flag for this establishment. If there were rules on this patio that we weren’t aware of, please just explain that politely instead of treating us so disrespectfully, and in front of small children no less. We are more than happy to oblige if we are aware of the process - but there were no clear instructions posted or employees explaining what we needed to do. We were excited to visit The Yodler and never expected this kind of treatment from a restaurant located at a popular tourist destination. To the server in question, you put a big damper on everyone’s day, so I hope you think twice next time before taking your bad mood out on your customers.
Absolutely horrible service. Manager told us to wait (outside) for a table behind a glass wall and that we were next for a table. As we waited, maybe 20 min, other groups of people had shown up, I overheard the waitress telling one of the groups that they were next. I went up to her and said that we had been waiting long before anyone else and she told me that we were not standing in the exact spot we were supposed to (about 5 feet back) that we “lost” our place. I told her in front of the manager that HE told us to stand where we were, he shrugged and she said too bad, we weren’t in the right spot. Absolutely ridiculous!!! The food there was HORRIBLE!!!!!
Bad service. Waitresses can’t wait to give you check. Burger not delicious at all.
Showed up 5:55 new year's week. Turned away. Said they close at 7. Despite being there an hour before close and despite being a holiday week, they turn paying customers away. To me that is absurd and just plain horrible management and ownership. Mid Feb maybe. New year's week and one of the only places in town so unacceptable. Whatever. You turn me away an hour before close, I give you one star. Lame
Don't forget to take a picture of your receipt with a tip. Otherwise, you will be charged more for the worst service given in the restaurant as a tip. Avg quality of food with expensive tags.
The Austrian style is charming, the Beer selection is great but then it comes in plastic cups outside, or is served in bottles with a plastic cup, food is generally inedible and has been for some years, someone should send the head chef to Austria, prices will make you cry. Get the pretzel its as authentic as wonder bread——mustard mayonnaise is ok. This place could be so great but it’s just another TOURIST TRAP!!
Been here many times over the years. Expensive resort prices to be expected, and food tends to be very good. So it takes a lot to give a 1 star review, especially for a place I WANT to like and enjoy. Plain and simple, you'll be lucky to get your food at all. Most times I've been here, I've never been waited on or had a staff member come by a single time. Sat there and eventually just ordered food at the bar. Watched many others around me close out their drink tabs and have to cancel food orders that never arrived after an hour. The lack of shade at the outdoor tables is inconsiderate especially with the wait times (which is usually no less than a half hour or 45 minutes when you actually get your food, and you have to go find it yourself when it's brought out). Oh, and NOBODY needs a live DJ while they're trying to enjoy lunch.
This was my first time at this restaurant but the people I went with have been many times. Our server Matt was nice enough at the beginning but once we had been waiting for 30 minutes for a diet coke and a beer we started to wonder where our order was. Other tables who had ordered way after us had been served food and drinks, and had been regularly checked on whereas we were getting little to no service. Someone in my party went to go ask where just the drinks were and the server blew him off the first time he asked and once he was a bit more assertive answered him that the drink orders some how had not been put in. We continue to wait longer with nary a drink or any appetizers and obviously not our mains. An hour passes after we had ordered and still we had nothing. Someone else in our party went to go talk to our server again and he began to chat with the manager. The manager then comes to address the whole table and was EXTREMELY rude. She claimed that a customer had come and just swiped our order from the kitchen…. we were a party of 9. A bit hard to believe that one customer managed to swipe 9 plates of food without anyone noticing. She then says that it’s not the restaurants fault and is this mystery food thief’s fault. She was brusque in her explanation and did not apologize. We wait some more and still have no drinks or food. Again, someone from my party went to ask her JUST for the beer and diet coke and she says one minute. She come to address the table again and says “give me your drink order.” We are a bit taken aback at this because it seems as though our order was completely lost if she has no idea what we even ordered in the first place. Of course at this time we don’t have menus because we had already placed an order. She asks what kind of beer and the person in my party says i’m not sure it was the server’s recommendation, she says “you don’t have menus?” Again her tone and demeanor were rude and aloof. Somehow food comes out for us and it’s one pretzel we ordered and another dish we did NOT order. At this time we decided to not even stay for our mains and decided to leave after having the pretzel. They did comp our meal and the manager gave a quick apology as she walked by but after being blatantly rude to us it seemed like the least they could do. Having worked several service jobs, I understand customer service is hard. Things happen, mistakes are made, and yes they did try to make it right in the end. However, at every turn the server and the management was rude. Lets say someone really did swipe nine plates of food, it is honestly insane to me that one could say it’s the customers fault with no apology. Would not go back again.
Early season disaster! Moderately busy. Waited about 15 minutes for a table and ordered quickly. No problem there. Then waited 75 minutes for food!!! And it came out in batches spread over another 20 minutes. Then after all of that they told us that they ran out of the fondue. We've been seated for almost 2 hours and some people still don't have food!!
