Awesome place for home cooked tummy filling any time of day type of food and GREAT home-made pies and cake even great lil gifts you can buy that say " 🐻baby bear, 🐻sister bear, 🐻brother bear, 🐻Papa bear", 🐻 lil bear paw slippers in all sizes even 3 diff styles black brown and white with blue claws 🤭 lol there so cute.. They have actual lil boots of a 🦄 unicorn and black boots with actual lil bear ears and eyes on front, pajamas for both boys and girls from sizes 6mth to 16-18 youth coffee mugs coffee canisters and much more to look at.. Nice warm setting lots to look at from gifts to the cool news paper menus cute Lil decor all over, I definitely recommend this place any time of day..

Fantastic diner with great atmosphere inside and out. The menu has something for everyone - all day breakfast, sandwiches, salads, full dinners. And everything looks and smells fantastic! The service is top notch from the front door to the table to the cash register. Everyone seems to enjoy working there, and it shows in the quality of the meals!

The service was a bit slow, however the massive amount of food help offset that. Great spot to stop and eat when traveling. The portions definitely leave you full for hours. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, almost makes me feel like I'm in an old time midwest diner. I definitely stop by again when I'm in manteca next.

We always visit this location. When passing through Manteca is stopping. The GPS has a really roundabout way of getting you there, but it is worth the stop. The food is always excellent. The staff is by. It's very friendly.

I went early in the morning. The staff is very friendly. The waitress was helpful when going over my Gluten free dairy free and Egg free she even asked the cook to confirm the sauce had none of my allergies in it prior to completing the taking my order process. So I felt confident I could eat with no reaction.

Black bear diner is the place to go if you have an appetite of a bear.. Lol. They serve huge portions of food regardless of what you order. I always go for their fried chicken since I don't eat fast food and this is one of the few places to find good fried chicken. It's a great family diner. Servers has always been nice everytime we've been there. Not a pie person but they look good if you are a pie fan. Enjoy breakfast /lunch or dinner here.

Great place if you're super hungry. The portions are huge and everything we had was delicious. The coffee was great and our server, Jesus, was on top of keeping our cups topped off and taking care of us even with a full restaurant. We didn't have a reservation so the wait was about 20 minutes on a Sunday morning but it was well worth it.

First time visiting this Black Bear Diner. Glad we went. We all got omelettes and waffles. Portions were huge and delicious. Our server was excellent. She was very friendly, patient, and kept checking how everything was and if we needed anything else. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend!

Just coming from from French Camp with Basker Hobbins where we set up some Draveport Sticklers and a few blank Clamors to scare away any boogeymen from the Haggers Shaft, and all Basker could talk about was stopping at the Black Bear Diner when we got to Manteca. He must've said "are we there yet, are we almost there" about 40 times! You think a grownass man could act his age when it comes to eating dinner. Well, I guess most can, but when it comes to eating at the Black Bear we all get a little excited. The big Porterhouse steak was amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Travelled from Latrobe, PA for a wedding and stayed at a nearby hotel. Decided to have a brunch at Black Bear Diner. Very quick service despite a busy crowd. Lots of vegetarian options. I got a Parmesan crusted burger melt with the veggie Patty while my best friend struggled to make it even halfway through the ENORMOUS taco salad!!! Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Had a great experience today. Food came fast. It was hot and delicious. Server was excellent even provided separate checks for 4 couples, WOW!

Wonderful option on your way to Yosemite etc. Healthy options - you can ask for your burger with greens & the no-bun option. Many do. Healthy salad options and fish choices. Burgers are excellent of course. The meals are big. Service is excellent and always smiling and pleasant. The dessert options are plentiful and generous and homemade. Just a great option on your road trip. And it’s always busy and bustling.

This is the first time I come to this establishment. I've already been to the one at Fairfield and Tracy. And like the previous other places the Black Bear Diner's food never disappoints. The food here was also delicious, and so are their pies. My chicken steak was soft I was able to cut it with my fork, and my eggs runny just the way I like them. I also liked the cute souvenirs at the entrance, that was cute. Now for a very busy place we didn't wait a long time to be seated, get our drinks and food. Their service was all around wonderful.

Today I had a not so pleasant experience at black bear dinner that turned into a great experience. First of all the male host was very friendly and greated me promptly. I informed him I needed a table for 2 but needed to use the restroom. He directed me to the restroom where I dropped a duce. I left a brown bear at the black Bear. Much relief! The bathroom could have been a little cleaner but I thank black bear for accommodating my brown bear monster. As I exited the restroom I only needed a table for one lol.

Was better than expected. Decent service, though I rarely ask for much. The Cobb salad is huge with plenty of bacon, cheese, eggs, et cetera. These days, a filling meal for under $20 is near impossible to find.

Often stop here for comfort food when crossing the Valley. Always enjoy the mashed potatoes and the green beans with lunch or dinner, and the coffee is fresh all times of day. Not every location of this old school diner chain is equally good, but Manteca and Tracy have always been up to par.

Great food. Good service. Was pretty busy when i was there. I got the Reuben with regular fries. The sandwich was really good but the fry portion was pretty skimpy. Coming from someone who had worked in the industry for many years ... you can always make a customer happy by giving them too many fries. They're cheap and easy. Stir your sweet tea, lol. They use simple syrup to sweeten the tea and it all sits at the bottom of the glass.

I was relieved when our busy Saturday was capped with our daughter asking to go out for dinner so I didn't have to cook. She really wanted chicken fried steak (which she literally never eats, so go figure) so Black Bear was the destination. Haven't been by here in a few years but the service hasn't fallen off at all, everyone was as good as they could be. Helpful, accommodating, friendly. Now, you should know that this isn't where you go for meals whole dieting. Portions are impressively substantial and prices haven't skyrocketed like so many other places. You wouldn't come by looking for gourmet, which Black Bear definitely isn't, but it's also not pretending to be. This is exceptional down home, classic style eats that are done very well and create that internal struggle of "can I finish, or is this tomorrow's lunch?"

First time at the Manteca diner. Service was good; food served promptly and it was hot. My compliments for that because who wants to eat a cold breakfast. I had the Corned Beef Hash as I generally do. Hash browns were great and the Corned Beef was good. It could have stayed on the grill for another couple of minutes to give it that crispy edge, if you know what I mean! Will definitely come back again.

Pretty cool atmosphere of the place. A lot of cute black bears in interior. Tried crispy chicken with mushed potato, was tasty and portion was big. Feels homely. Be noted that turn to the restaurant is right before exit from the highway. There will be the sign with direction to Black Bear Dinner (we tried to turn wrongly few times thanks to Google maps). Just be attention.

Very good food selection to a reasonable price. Big meals and also tasty. When you are on the way from San Fran to Yosemite, stop here for a break and food.

I appreciate the homey atmosphere. We'll maintained, no broken furniture or torn upholstery. Service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry so not really a complaint, just an observation. Food was cooked as ordered a we were satisfied with the portions. I can't bring myself to rave about the food, but it was satisfying. A little difficult to access as Google has the wrong location for the entrance to the parking lot. Google expects the entrance to be on Yosemite but it is on Bunch. I'm sure once Google reviews the images they can fix that glitch. The location is just off of Hwy 99.

Stopped here on the way to Yosemite for lunch. Food was just okay. Your typical diner food. I got the soup sandwich combo. The bread was a bit dry. My husband got some tri-tip meal and that was pretty good. The service fine. What you would expect at a diner.

Used to come here a lot and when I came here recently, I’ve noticed that the portions have gotten smaller. Not what it used to be, and definitely more expensive, just like everything else.

I have tryed two different bbd locations this one is very nice inside and out. Service is a standard 3 woud have gave them a 4 🌟but they forgot our fruit on all three of our dishes, and we had to send a waffle 🧇back because it left the kitchen over cooked and served to our table..smh.. not only our waffle were late and not served with our food one of the three waffle were over cooked.

The prime rib was very good and tender, the pot roast was weird. I've never received my meat already cut up in bite size pieces. It looked like the making of stew. The cut ruined the texture of the meat. The meat was over cooked. The price was very good and the service was awesome.

This location is pretty roomy, so a lot of people can easily be accommodated. Order was taken quite quickly and brought out the same too. We were 3 and even though we had a coupon for a free entree, our bill was still over $40 but we did order 2 drinks and a coffee. My pancakes looked so good but unfortunately were rather crumbly. The ham was cold and very hard. The brisket sandwich was good but a bit dry, but the fries very good. For the Chicken n waffle, the waffle was almost tasteless for and the chicken was okay. Lastly the grits just tasted like tiny bits of potatoes in water with melted butter on top, but this being the first time trying this, we don't know if that's what it's supposed to taste like....oh and the coffee was not hot. Our waiter was very nice and staff was very attentive. The waiter brought out refills for the sodas before asking, but I did have to wait and ask for more "warm" coffee...

The service was really good. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food was not very good though. I ordered ribs and chicken. The ribs looked like they must have been boiled, not the best way to cook ribs. If I knew they were boiled and not cooked in the oven or broiler I would have chosen something else. Not a fan of soft jiggly meat and fat. The two chicken strips were very small and mostly crust. Another in my party ordered tri tip. It was hard and rubbery. Looked like it was sliced and overcooked in a pan. Not the proper way to cook tri tip. We jokingly called it beaver tail, that's what the slices looked like. Not sure if this is the standard way of cooking these items at all Black Bear Diner's or if it was only at this restaurant. But, if we return we'll definitely avoid those two dishes.

Ordered an expensive blackberry bear claw via a delivery service… same order i’ve gotten for 6 months or more. It looks ok in the picture but it arrived cold & stale & gross. It tasted like week old bread at the least and had a very very small amount of blackberry filling that was a cloudy thick custard looking mess with just a blackberry scattered here & there. Even after microwaving it was still so disgusting. And even more dry & tasteless. It was also so petrified/ vulcanized it could’ve doubled as a paperweight..smh.. but it’s in the trash.

Manteca: I had a bad experience with their salmon. It was filled with bones. I was told their salmon is only cooked there; they do not fillet the salmon because it is sold to them pre-packaged. And, the meat loaf is not meat loaf; is Salisbury steak. The meat reminds me of Banquet Salisbury frozen dinners. I won't be back

This is the only black bear I have come across that is extremely slow. The food is so so and the staff could be nicer.

The service here is just plain sad. My family of 4 walked in today and it was a little busy but we got seated right away. It took 8 min before someone came to take our drink order and the waiter knew we were ready to order when he came to get our drink order but said he would be right back. He didn't come back. He went to the big party back to the kitchen area at least 4 times and then came out singing happy birthday. Not to mention when we were seated the table had the bowl for creamer with empty creamer packs. We weren't acknowledged at all and when we chose to get up and just pay for the drinks Erik or Eduardo didn't even apologize but surely recognized we weren't happy when he gave the front host our receipt. The service here always lacked but today they just fell thru the floor.

The host looked inconvenienced for having a new customer even though the place was not busy. Scanned me up and down seemingly judging me. Made no attempt to be pleasant. Once seated, it took forever to get service. Took so long to get a drink refill that I had to go to the front and request it. The server was there with other staff just hanging out. Again, it wasn't busy. The staff simply seems to not care.

I wanted to leave this review, because I didn't feel welcome. The server didn't even put attention to us when we arrived. We were seated by the host and there was more than one waitress and didn't even bother to say; will be right with you" for more then 10 min so I decide to just leave. The food has no taste. We ordered eggs benedict and veggies omelet. My wife ate 1/4 of the veggie omelet, no taste, cold, bland. I sent back the first eggs benedict eggs were solid, cold, hollandaise had no flavor. Just disappointing. They weren't even busy. $55 I can't get back. Not a again. 🐻👎🏼

I tried to order from GrubHub tonight and yesterday and both times my order was cancelled after two hours. I called tonight and the guy says they don't even use GrubHub. I'm not bothering with this place again. Edit: I responded to them by email and still no response a week later. Definitely not bothering with this place again, they simply don't care.

We had the rudest interaction with the server today while we were placing our order. Midway through my husband ordering, I confirmed the cinnamon roll French toast came with sides because the menu did not state you had that option. I ordered first and after he finished making his order I asked to change mine and the server rudely said it was too late and the order was already submitted. She did not confirm our choices or repeat anything back to us. How she could have already submitted our order while we were still in the process of talking to her is beyond me. She never once came back to check on us after we got our food. The food was mediocre. My bacon was borderline undercooked and the fried eggs were rubbery. It’s unfortunate because we haven’t had such terrible service here before and always enjoyed coming here. It remains to be seen if we return. We don’t like to drop $50 for two breakfast meals and receive such terrible service.

We had a rude server this last time. It’s usually not like this or we wouldn’t come back. However, if it happens again, we won’t be back and I’ll update my review. This review reflects our server refusing to allow us to change our order even though she was still standing in front of us, hadn’t left yet, and we hadn’t confirmed with her what we wanted. She still refused to allow us to change the order. She claimed she already submitted it in her computer and she couldn’t change it. After this, she never returned to check on our food, offer refills, etc. Horrible service!!!

My wife walked in and I was taking care of are puppy. She was waiting 20 minutes. She always a friendly person. I came in and she was wanting a pie to go. She told me there staff was ignored her. She tryed to get there attention. They just looked at us. I said nicely..could you please help my wife. In was shocked at the staff stares. I said excuse me . Could we get some help. I plan to find out who the owner of this restaurant. And I don't recommend this place. But you go judge yourself.

I was there at 7.45 . Guy told us we will be closing soon give us order . Oh man he got our order on table in 5 minutes half of it cold . He was so pushing that we should be out by 8 pm . Wasted around 50 dollars. Totally unprofessional staff mean as hell
