Decent place for Thai/Japanese food. Nothing mind blowing. For that reason, I think it is slightly overpriced. Portion size is filling. They did have some interesting dishes like the Sarong Sawatdee Special. They have an entertaining robot. I don't understand the point of it since a human waiter takes your order and serves the food that the robot shuttles to and from the kitchen. The ambiance is kinda dark, if you're into that. Sufficiently quiet to have a conversation without shouting. Service was fast and staff was friendly. Overall a good experience.

I had the peanut and potato curry, and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. I'll definitely be back!

Sat at the sushi bar and asked for some special nigiri style sushi, but without the rice. The sushi chef was patient and gracious and the waitress was also. The sushi was fresh and paired with flavorful scallions, cream cheese, avocado, carrot strings and pickled ginger + wasabi. I ordered the same plate for a second round because of how tasty it was! I was also able to acquire some gluten free soy sauce. I received my food quickly. The restaurant was clean and the music wasn't too loud. What an awesome experience! Would recommend, would return.

Best Valentine's Day special in town. Food tastes fantastic. Only complain was the lighting. Other than that, the customer service was great.

Amazing food every time. And service is always great. Today's server was very patient with us in helping to customize dishes and try new things on the menu that we had not tried before.

Tried Sawatdee for the first time and it was a lovely experience. Our waitress was kind and helpful and food was delicious. My husband can be wary of less familiar foods but he tried the Massaman Curry and it was fantastic!

Great pad see ew,fresh spring rolls, Sue's egg rolls, ginger stir fry, hubs loved the spicy noodles with beef. I also enjoyed hot green tea today. Server was very friendly. Could have used a refill on water, that was my only disappointment. Overall very good experience.

Food was delicious, service was attentive! Ordered 4 different entrees, spring rolls, and mango sticky rice - everything tasted great.

This place is really interesting! It had a robot that delivers food to you and they also have servers. The robot can’t bring liquids to you so the server is watching to see if you need refills or need anything else. Our server was attentive and I liked how she checked in with us a couple times to make sure that we were doing alright. I think this place specializes in Thai food but my table ordered maki sushi rolls. For a place that doesn’t specialize in sushi, the rolls were pretty good. I also got fried vegetarian spring rolls and they were good.

The best Green curry chicken in town! So delicious and tasty with ginormous slices of jalapeños, super spicy 🌶 just the way I like it! 🍲🍲😋 And talk about the chicken in it, big chunks, tender and juicy and I mean CHICKEN! Ok! 🍗🍗😋 Not thin slices of chicken breast, but dark and white all of it! I am staffed! I was planning on getting some spring rolls, but the tummy said lest wait till next time! Haha! And I am coming back for them. And I got the same feedback on the Panang Curry as well from my partner, first time visit 2 items of their menu. Definitely worth visiting again! If you are in the area, try it! 👍🏽👍🏽🍲❤️😋

Spring roles are a must but if you really want to start your meal with a bang you should def try the paradise chicken wings. I won’t spoil it but they are injected with something very yummy. Wine specials and music are a staple here.

10/10 every server there is a GEM. Even the robot. It’s always delicious. The staff EVERY ONE OF THEM deserve raises. 🖖

Food was simply divine! The spice level was perfect, my duck, rice and spring rolls were grand, and it arrived fast. Our waitress was friendly and sweet. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and overall a heavenly place to be.

Food was delicious, the Sawatdee Supreme rum punch was perfect and the server was kind and attentive. 5/5 and two thumbs up.

What a wonderful night we had for my husband's birthday at Sawatdee Maple Grove! We had delicious food along with handmade ginger ale (with actual ginger in the glass)! Our service was incredible, friendly, warm and welcoming. We felt like we were eating in the comfort of our own home. Once our server found out it was my husband's birthday, a delicious piece of cheesecake arrived and a brave young man sang Happy Birthday to him. We would highly recommend!

Very good food. The only thing slightly negative is could say is the level 5 spice level isn't as hot as i hoped it would be.

Shoutout to our waiter Neong who brought us a whole plate of extra sauce! You are a sweetheart and you were so nice to us! Food was great as always. Got the chicken Pad Thai and cream cheese wontons (yum). Love you Neong!

Sawatdee has delicious Thai food. The service was great but had some difficulty understanding the server and his timeliness was somewhat slow. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

I was recommended to try Sawatdee because their "spring rolls and peanut sauce are the best." We went on a Monday afternoon, and it was almost empty. For 2 people--2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 drink, the total was $63 (not including tip.) The good: The server was kind and attentive. I loved the lighting, music, and Thai decorations. Our entrees came very shortly after our appetizers, and the food was SO DELICIOUS. We loved everything, and we will be back for more! The not-so-good: Since I ordered no shrimp with the spring rolls, I thought they'd replace it with more chicken, but sadly no... The tables were slightly sticky, and I wish I had asked them to wipe it down again.

Service was great but the food itself is okay. It’s not bad but Thai Express or other places nearby are better.

This is the first time I have tried Sawatdee. A Maple Grove friend recommended this establishment and we were both pleased. We had choice of a lunch menu available weekday afternoons. I ordered the cashew stir-fry because I love water-chestnuts and it was very good at a decent price. The establishment has low lighting, music, and interesting decorative pieces throughout. And the staff was service oriented checking on us several times. Parking was very easy.

It is in the shopping mall area, so it’s very convenient for parking and for visiting other places before or afterward. The spring roll is huge and fresh. The veggie dish is average, which is totally fine. The Thai noodles are very spicy, even for someone like me with a high tolerance for spice. I asked for a medium level, but it was still very spicy. The server was very nice and welcoming. He asked us about our preferred spice level for each dish. The place is spacious, but quite dark. It was hard for me to see the menu clearly, even though we had lunch there. However, the decor is very culturally rich.

The food was good except for the Calamari, the batter was too thick and the squid was chewy

C
Chin-Shian Lin (Happy)

The fresh spring rolls are fine, the sauce is quite matched with the rolls. However we are kind of disappointed withe the pad see ew and the beef pho.... the pad see ew tastes smelly like it storied in the closet forever. And the beef pho is more like a Chinese style beef noodle. I just tried two of this, I bet they still some other food worthy to try. Anyway, it’s a personally experience.

Memorable.. for negative reasons. First time and the last time. Not the place to go if you have a preference for authentic Thai/Asian food. Service: 2/5 customer service was not terrible but almost nonexistent. Got to our table, given iced water and our order taken after we were ready to order. Never came back to check if everything was okay or if anything was amiss. Food: Ordered three dishes. They were pretty plain in all aspects. 1)Noodle Soup (Pho):2/5 Small bowl of pho(a size small in many Asian restaurant) flavor of soup was not deep A few options of meat: vegetarian, chicken, pork, beef and duck. I had beef and it was as pictured and disappointing. No condiments and straight up plain beef. Basically consist of one beef meat part, beef soup, noodles, bean sprouts, green ions and cilantro 2)Thai fried rice(Thai fried rice): 2/5 There were multiple options for the fried rice style and I got Thai which comes straight up with tomatoes and cucumbers as described. I tasted.. sweet soy sauce. There was a strong smell of it. Extremely noticeable. Super oily that doesn’t make the dish any better. 3)Green Curry: 2/5 The flavor again was a miss for me. Flavor was a 3/5 for me. It is on the sweet side. A spice level 4 that did not taste like 4, instead a 2. Chicken was very chunky and uneven. The curry had meat, bell peppers, peas and carrots. Just too plain of a curry in my Thai curry history. Side of rice that came with it was too small. The rice went with a 1/4 of the curry then there was no more rice to go with it. It would be better to have some leftover rice than not enough. —— Cold iced water(tap) had a copper aftertaste to it. Make the whole meal.. even worse. Atmosphere: was pretty cold there and very few customers for a Sunday afternoon. Plenty of room and COVID procedures were followed. There was also outdoor seating. Place was clean so no issue there. I hope that feedback is taken and steps taken to improve for those who come after me. Good luck!

Ordered some sushi rolls for takeout, they were very thin and not much fish in it. Soy sauce they use is not made with real soy and tastes awful. Look at the ingredients on the sauce packet. No respectable sushi place should use something like this.

In my opinion their quality of food has gone downhill. Pad Thai noodles (IMO) seemed hard compared to other times I've ordered. The holy basil, there was hardly any meat. Majority was veggies, and beef was hard. My daughter ordered the seafood delight and similar issues too (lots of veggies and little protein). The egg rolls, not my favorite. Reminds me of frozen egg rolls put into airfryer. The stuff wing and calamari was my favorite. It's disappointing for a lot of money spent and food was not the greatest.

The food had a nice presentation but was not the best tasting. We ordered mild spice but didn't expect the flavor to be so bland. Figured there would be more than to the flavor than just spice. The thai tea caused two people at the table to have stomachaches. I didn't order it, so my stomach was fine. The table had some sticky spots. Pad See Ew noodles: It was a little hard and too sweet. Papaya Salad: Didn't have a lot of flavor, and it tasted too much like lemon. The peanuts were delicious in the dish! Duck Curry: The duck was good! It wasn't dry and had very large cuts. The peas and carrots were typical frozen peas and carrots and didn't taste great. The bell peppers were undercooked. The curry flavor was decent, but I was expecting something more and different. Tom Yum soup (seafood combo): There was a lot of seafood. This was probably the only dish that was worth the price because of the amount of seafood that was given, though Tom Yum was very generic and wasn't not close to being a great Tom Yum. The shrimp was over cooked.

I and four other friends went there for lunch. We love Thai food so our standards and taste buds are pretty particular about Thai cuisine. For 5 people, we ordered Fried Chicken Wings, pork Pad Thai, pork Thai Fried Rice, the Holy Basil Supreme, and Tom Yum soup, out of which two of the entrees came with a side of rice each. The Holy Basil Supreme was the performer of the day and the Tom Yum was a close second. The Pad Thai was good, however, the fried rice was actually disappointing. The portions were good for what we ended up paying!

We decided to try this Thai spot again after visiting a couple of years ago, hoping for a good local option. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The restaurant now seems focused primarily on takeout orders, with only one person managing about 10 tables. It took 10-15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and when the food finally arrived, it was bland and underwhelming. For the price we paid, we definitely expected more and left wishing we had chosen a different restaurant.

C
Choua Lee

I personally found the meals all too sweet and not flavorful like Thai style which was disappointing.

C
Crystal Vrieze

The chicken satay was the only good thing about the meal. My veggie pho was flavorless and the waiter did not mention that when they do veggie pho, they put cauliflower in it, how strange. I have celiacs and they have listed in the menu as well as the waiter confirmed that the California roll was gluten free before I ordered and when it showed up at the table, they use the imitation crab in it which is NOT gluten free. If they are going to advertise its gluten free, make sure it actually is or someone will get really sick if they didn't pay attention before putting it in their mouth.

The establishment itself is nice. And the waiting staff are kind people. They establishment has low lighting, music, and interesting decorative pieces throughout. And a little robot (Dee-Dee) who brings out the food. For an appetizer, we had the fresh spring rolls. They were quite nice. They contained cilantro, lettuce, rice noodle, carrot, chicken, and shrimp. The spring rolls came with a side of dipping sauce. I had the wonton soup, which was very delicious. My wonton soup choice contained chicken, Chinese cabbage, cilantro, spices, and what could've been a large chunks of onion. I also purchased the Laab Esan(#28). I did not like the flavor of this dish. The flavor wasn't for me. The Laab Esan contained chopped beef with lemon juice, cilantro, and green onion.

It was my first time here and the restaurant welcomed showcasing a banner of awards. I had a lot of expectations as my team members were of high praises for this place. We didn’t have any waiting time and were seated right away for lunch. The menu was detailed and for the first time I was amazed to see a Volcanic Hot for level 5. I ordered a Curry styled Thai fried rice and we were a group of 10 people with each ordering mostly a fried rice. We waited, waited and waited and finally our orders came through. I went with a Medium Hot since i didn’t want just crushed peppers to be thrown over my food for the level 5 heat. The food quantity was size-able and moderately tasty, but the medium hot was not even mildly hot. We were done eating and ordered for check and again we waited, waited and waited and finally it came through. The restaurant wasn’t too busy but I found a serious shortage of hosts and as I quipped to my team mates, may be we should have placed our orders while starting off from work and asked for check right after we entered the restaurant.

Ordered for delivery. Sawatdee has been my favorite for pad thai for 20 years. Unfortunately this order had zero sweetness and almost too salty to eat. Im wondering if the chef mistook the salt for sugar. If not and this is a recipe change please go back to the old recipe! PS The sticky rice and mango was delish

J
Julie J Condon

Sorry guys; I have to be honest. The food completely lacked the depth of flavors we expected. The beef in the curry was almost too chewy to eat. The egg rolls and sauce were bland. The papaya salad had absolutely no kick or ethnic complexity, despite asking for medium spice. I politely suggest you hire a Lao grandma about 52 years old. She will bring Asia back to your kitchen.

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but unfortunately, the quality of the food and service has declined. While the waiter was nice (and apologetic), he disappeared into the back for long periods of time (perhaps cooking too?). The table was sticky - I set my wallet down on the table and it stuck to the table and actually became coated with gunk. It was a very long wait (I'm guessing 45 minutes) for the food to come out, and our appetizers came out with the food. One dish was cold and it looked like it was sitting out for a long time. The noodles were semi-dried along the edges and the sauce was discolored on top. Another dish had mushy shrimp. Another dish had pepper flakes, but was supposed to be 0 spice level. The waiter said they made a mistake and replaced the dish. Lastly, the curry broth was not as good as in the past. We asked for silverware several times after the food came out - it probably took 5 minutes to get silverware. I had to get up and ask for the check 10 minutes after finishing our food. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. I hope management can turn things around.

I usually enjoy Thai food and always order the same things—egg rolls and Pad See Ew. Unfortunately, this time was absolutely disappointing. The egg rolls were way too crunchy, almost like they had been over-fried or left sitting too long. The dipping sauce looked like it had been microwaved repeatedly(sauce container was bubbles up)—it had a weird, separated texture like it had been overheated. As for the Pad See Ew, it was completely dry. No sauce, no flavor, none of the rich, savory taste I expect. It honestly felt like someone played in my food—it was that bad. To make matters worse, when I called in the order, they asked if I wanted it spicy. I said yes (like I always do), but they added a random $1.50 charge for medium spice. I’ve never been charged for that before, and they didn’t even tell me there would be a fee. It’s not about the $1.50—it’s the fact that I spent $30 in total on food I couldn’t even eat. I ended up throwing the whole thing away. Complete waste of money. I won’t be coming back, and I don’t recommend anyone else does either.

First time ordering from here. My boyfriend ordered the Holy Basil ($15) and we paid an extra $3 for extra shrimp and extra chicken but there was not a single piece of chicken and barely any shrimp. Wondering if they mixed up our order with someone else’s but it’s extremely disappointing. We also paid extra for chicken (another $3) in our hot and sour soup that were tiny pieces that tasted extremely dry. Our wontons were cold and weirdly tasted stale, like as of it’s so dry it’s crumbled in my mouth. How is that even possible?? Ended up throwing it out. What a waste of money. I’ve honestly eaten subpar food, never send food back, usually just roll with it and am not one to complain but there was just so much wrong for the high price point that I had to write a review to warn others.

S
Sasan Rahmani

By far the worst pick up experience I have ever had. First off. I got the catfish for my parents and this is what I got. A tiny piece of catfish on top of some steamed vegetables for almost 20 DOLLARS! It was almost inedible and already I felt scammed. The cashew stew was another let down. Cashews fell apart and had no crunch. The beef tasted old and had no flavor, very low quality meat. The stew was 3/10, wouldn’t touch it again. The highlight was the green bean and chicken stew. Pretty good stew, but it only shined in comparison to the rest of this meal. 6/10 I wasn’t going to put this negative review up since I asked for a refund. But with the hurdles I had to jump through for 2 weeks to request a refund just to NEVER GET MY MONEY BACK really left a sour taste with this restaurant. The bottom line is the food is just not good. And charging ridiculous prices for bad food is a recipe for disaster. I have lived around maple grove for awhile and you have much better options for Asian cuisine than this place. And even if you didn’t like it, you won’t get your money back. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS.

Thai food for white people. I got the Rama thai delight spice 4/5. A curry. With some sushi and appetizer sampler. They brought it all at the same time so my main dish got cold. It's not thai spice levels so I didn't really feel any heat at all. The peanuts were very overwhelming and was not good. Only good side is it looks very pretty. Both the restuarant and the plating. Not gonna come here again.

D
DeYung Le

Heard the food was good here, we love Thai food! Walked in and saw all the awards on the wall. Thought it was going to be good, but after 35 minutes we finally got our appetizers and it was cold. How does fried food come out cold? Another 20 minutes to get our pad Thai... kinda average at best. The wait wouldn’t be so bad if we were giving really good food, but this just felt like a punch to the face waiting so long for mediocre food.

K
Kate H

This is at least the 2nd time I've been shorted. Only 2 of the 3 items I ordered arrived. When you attach the receipt, if you mark items off when you put them in the bag, this issue is EASILY preventable. Feeding my kids ⅔ of their dinner isn't possible, so now I have to either cook, despite ordering out, or spend even more money & wait even longer. (Hid name on receipt.)

j

The food here is absolutely amazing and delicious. The service is absolutely horrible. Food all came out at separate times 15 minutes in between each plate being delivered. Not once did the server come and ask how the food was. The server walked past us at least 4 times well we were trying to get their attention. Will not be coming back for dine in

P
Pamela Nelson

I've tried this location twice and both times have been disappointed. The egg rolls were mushy and not freshly made. The Thai basil dish was watery with mostly onions, flavored only by dried red pepper. The chicken was flavorless; the brown rice was crunchy. This food has no relationship to the complex flavors of authentic Thai cuisine. Save your money and buy a frozen Lean Cuisine for better flavor and value

V
Victoria Neyman

I took my daughter to Sawatdee because she loves Thai food. And Everything was terrible! The place is dark, cold and not very clean. The waitress was terrible and the food was very bad 👎

P

I am highly disappointed with my recent experience with the Swatdee Maple Grove restaurant using DoorDash. I placed an order, but the app showed the pickup date as the next day. When I contacted the restaurant, they advised me to place another order to receive my food. As a result, I was charged twice for the same meal. The restaurant falsely claimed they fulfilled the first order when they did not, and asked me to contact DoorDash. Unfortunately, DoorDash chose to believe the restaurant and denied my refund, without even reviewing the two duplicate transactions from my bank statement. This is unfair, unethical, and frustrating, especially since the duplicate charge was caused by the restaurant and DoorDash, not my mistake.
