The food is fantastic, every dish we ate was top notch. Pasta, salads, vegetables and sides were gourmet. You can't go wrong eating here.
Really enjoyed eating here for dinner, small menu which made decisions easier. The food tasted great, no complaints at all with the quality. Service was great, everything came out quickly and didn’t wait long at all. A cozy eatery and a good atmosphere. I recommend coming here with a small group of people or yourself to enjoy.
4.3 | rlly great food and ambiance. I would definitely recommend. the servers were rlly attentive and kind. I got the baked yams and added flank steak. it was rlly good and also fit into my dietary restrictions around whole 30 [I just got the butter on the side instead of on the yam]. my friend enjoyed the salmon and grits. I wish I could have tried the their desserts and drinks but next time. I would say definitely try the deviled eggs, the only thing I would add to it is the option for candied bacon, but it was delicious. great menu items, great service, great ambiance. I highly recommend.
We had a great time here at margrets! We loved the unique flavors and interesting dishes. Some of our favorites were the sardines on bruschetta and the flank steak. Our server was super fun and bright which provided for a great experience. The photos are pickled beets deviled eggs, flank steak with a salad and salmon, arugula, and grits.
Margaret’s is a very Marfa-esque restaurant: minimal, quality, and friendly. Seating is limited (maybe 50 seats, 20 of which are at the bar) and with no reservations, one might have to wait for a table. The menu is simple, although not totally reminiscent of a classic diner like advertised. Alcohol is beer and wine only but the wine selection is pretty diverse for its size. The anchovies and potato chips is a great starter as is the cheese toast. I was skeptical of the large amount of tomatoes on said toast but ended up being the tastiest part of the dish. The bolognese is great and the steak was very good. The key lime pie was homemade (very diner-esque) and the sundae looked terrific so I would recommend saving room for dessert. Overall the experience was great, the prices cheaper and staff friendlier than what most tourists from major urban metros are used to back home.
Loved Margaret’s! Ate there four nights straight — delicious food every time and don’t skip the key lime pie!
First night in Marfa and our dinner was superb. We put our name on the list and waited an hour for a table (We went to a nearby bar). They called us to let us know the table was ready in about 45 minutes. We wanted a slow meal with kale salad, and apps and then our entrees, with no rush. Our waitress was understanding and didn’t pressure us at all. By the time we ordered our entrees, they ran out of a few items. So, we had the salmon and cauliflower. Both were very good. Unfortunately, they ran out of the carrots, braised cabbage and yams. But, it was late by then time we ordered. So, not their fault. The key lime pie was tart and perfect to end the meal.
Had dinner there two nights in a row while we were in Marfa. Had salmon, steak, olives, and cauliflower (magic!). The key line pie and olive oil cake were some of the best I’ve ever had. Staff were really great and were sweet with our kids :)
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the appetizers were just as impressive. The staff was incredibly friendly, adding to the warm and inviting atmosphere. However, the only downside was the smoke from the kitchen, which lingered in the dining area. They could definitely improve their ventilation. Despite this minor issue, it’s still very much worth visiting. I’d rate it a solid 9/10 for the food and service. Highly recommended!
Always a consistent Marfa favorite. No Quail on the menu this time, but the steak was awesome.
Margaret’s is our favorite little spot in Marfa—The best mix of cozy diner vibes and really good food. The space very much feels like the heartbeat of this tiny community. We love coming here for date night, and we pretty much always get the bolognese… it hits every time. A great, easy place run by great people.
outstanding execution on every level. truly great food and service. If I was a local, this would be my local. Steak was absolutely perfect. a memorable meal. Somehow didn't take pictures. Take my word for it.
Every year, I bring my friends to Margaret’s to celebrate my birthday- and every year we fall in love with this place even more. The ambiance, the service, the delicious food, all of it. Photos don’t do it justice. It’s just got good energy. Go.
Loved my dinner at Margaret's! We sat at the bar and were well taken care of and personally loved the vantage point of the restaurant from here. It's a beautiful, airy, clean space that shines in the late evening sun. We opted to share a few things and all were excellent. The picked deviled eggs were a take on the dish I'd never had. The cauliflower was light and tangy with the chimichurri. Finally the New York strip was cooked to perfection and made an excellent dish with the incredible creamy polenta. The polenta was a showstopper! Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this relaxed yet refined restaurant and look forward to returning. Definitely add it to your Marfa plans!
A standout Marfa dining experience with bold flavors and great guidance Margaret’s is one of those Marfa restaurants that quietly exceeds expectations and then stays with you long after the meal. From the moment I sat down, the experience felt thoughtful, welcoming, and rooted in genuine care for food and guests. I started with what may be the best deviled eggs I’ve ever had—perfectly balanced, infused with beet brine and finished with curry powder. The flavors were unexpected, vibrant, and incredibly well executed. On the staff’s recommendation, I also ordered the cheddar tuna melt, and I’m glad I listened. It was outstanding: comforting yet elevated, expertly grilled, rich without being heavy, and full of flavor. If you’re searching for the best places to eat in Marfa, locally loved Marfa restaurants, or creative comfort food in West Texas, Margaret’s should be high on your list. Excellent food, knowledgeable and attentive staff, and dishes that feel both familiar and inventive—this is exactly the kind of place that makes dining in Marfa memorable.
Wonderful place, it's a small place. The food is delicious, Everything we tried was scrumptious. We will have to again even if we have to travel 5 hours. The appetizers were perfect. The meat was well cooked and the seasoning was on point. My respect to the chef all the food was amazing, interesting flavor combination.
Such an awesome place! Very cool atmosphere, feels small and intimate but not crowded. The food though… so good! Highly reccomend the cheese toast appetizer (w burrata and roasted tomatoes) it really was amazing and great for sharing due to the big portion. The pickled deviled eggs also very good. For main course, the spaghetti bolognese was SO good, could eat that repeatedly; and it sometimes can be hard to find a bolognese that hits the spot. Also good wine selection to try different things and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful with the full list (as well as overall menu)
Margaret’s was a wonderful addition to our Marfa trip. We walked in on a Wednesday and were quickly seated at the bar/ center area. The menu was filled with so many delicious options. We had the sausage, the eggs, the steak and carrots. Everything was so fresh, unique flavors and generous portions. This was more than enough food for two people. Highly recommend. Great food and service and good price point.
My wife and I had an amazing meal here the other night. Every dish was fabulous and I would highly recommend. Definitely worth the short wait for a table but we were actually able to grab a seat at the bar with no wait.
Great! felt a bit Copenhagen/Sweden vibes A lot of gluten free options & nice natural wines
Nice atmosphere. Wonderful waitstaff. Menu items from appetizers and salads to spaghetti bolognese, salmon, etc for main dishes. Excellent dessert selection. We got so full on the appetizer and salad that we skipped the main course and went straight to dessert. Very reasonable prices.
Wonderful restaurant. Great service. Beautiful food! Look forward to coming back. Appetizer of salty chips and anchovies wonderful. Salmon plate, spaghetti bolangense and steak with salsa verde really good. Update. 2025 June. We had a lovely dinner at Margaret's. But couple of little things need tweaking. My wife had the summer squash plate. Was okay. But squash really need a touch of grilling. Too raw, hard. My bone in pork chop was excellent. Had a great green apple potato salad with it. Needed a little some green, fresh veggie with it. Little more sauce please. No breads. Be nice to have little bread, baguette and butter or cheese spread. My daughter's spaghetti Bolognese was good she stated. Small portion. But really needed a slice of garlic bread. Very smoky inside. Irritating the eyes.
Margaret’s in Marfa is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy an exceptional dining experience. This cozy, popular spot does not take reservations, but the staff helpfully directs you to a nearby wine bar for a pre-dinner drink if there’s a wait. The intimate setting, warm atmosphere, and inviting decor make it well worth the time. The meal was nothing short of spectacular. We started with the cheese toast, which was topped with whipped burrata and roasted tomatoes—an absolutely perfect appetizer to share among friends. Next came the Iceberg & Crushed Olive salad, featuring a delightful combination of jalapeño, sweet white onion, and parmesan. It was a fresh and flavorful complement to the Spaghetti Bolognese, made with 100% Texas beef. The Bavette Steak, served with chimichurri and a loaded baked potato, was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with a side of roasted carrots topped with roasted garlic, jalapeño, feta, and pepitas. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, with layers of flavor that stood out individually yet harmonized wonderfully. Margaret’s also boasts an excellent wine selection that elevated the entire meal. We ended the night with a shared slice of key lime pie, which was nothing short of heavenly—a tart, sweet, and creamy finish to an unforgettable dinner. Margaret’s is a gem in Marfa, offering an outstanding dining experience that’s well worth the wait. Don’t miss it!
Dinner was so good that we came back the next day. Each my entre was delicious. I had the tune melt one night and the spaghetti the second. Hubs had spaghetti the first night and a steak the second (although the steak was a bit too rare even after sending it back once 😕). Service was also more attentive the first night. We loved the atmosphere a lot. Very cool vibe of people.
Loved everything about this restaurant. No reservations so keep that in mind, but even my party of 7… was able to get in without too long of a wait. Food was excellent and the portions were plenty! Also great service, our waitress was super nice and had plenty of recommendations for us.
We came for the food but we will return because of the incredibly nice and interesting people that work here. We ordered the spaghetti bolognese and the red snapper!!!! Both were PERFECT and had its own unique flair!! The building and decor were spot on arty too. Loved it. We shall return….. It’s an honor to be one of the first to review for this Marfa Gem. Dara is the best waiter this side of the Pecos! Love it all!

Food is consistently delicious! Everything I’ve had on the menu has been so tasty. I am vegetarian and gluten-free (not celiac) and there are many options for me. Wine is reasonably priced. Wish I could eat here every week. I am hard of hearing and each time I’ve been it’s been easy to converse with my dining companion.
Good vibes. Went on Valentine’s Day. Steak and eggplant parm were very tasty. All the food we saw being served around us also looked delicious. Great experience overall!

The food was great but the service was not the best. We sat at the central bar, ordered a bottle of wine, and a bunch of items on the menu. The anchovies were divine! Even if you think you don’t like anchovy, try them, I bet they will change your mind. At first our server seemed engaging and attentive but then we were promptly forgotten about. She never came back to check in on us, fill our waters, or even give us the bill. We had to ask another server to close us out. It may have just been an off night but we were a little disappointed because we had JUST got engaged and were hoping to have a better experience. Overall 4 stars and will definitely be back the next time we’re passing through. I know this place is a special spot, the food was great, and we really hope we have better service next time.
Stopped by on a Thursday around 7p. There was about a 30-45 min wait, so we sat at the bar. They quickly served up room temp. water, but ice was available upon request. I ordered the kale and beet salad along with the cheese toast. Both were phenomenal!!! I think the kale needed to be chopped up a little more, but it it was blanched just enough to take the harsh crisp out of it without taking the crunch of a salad. My husband had the steak, but he wasn't impressed with it. It was a ribeye and had a lot of gristle. Ribeyes tend to have that though. The flavor was good. They need a better ventilation system. It was a bit smokey, but I would definitely go again.
Good food, good service, but the baby booster seat was broken so we had to hold it for the entire meal. The website said child-friendly and they did bring crayons and toy horses, but the fact the almost 2-year old could fall out if the seat means they lose a star.
A decent option for Marfa but don’t expect to be blown away. The food was pretty good, but nothing was outstanding — definitely overrated based on the other reviews here. We had the olives (which were warm and not memorable), the anchovies and chips (OK), the sardine toast (best thing we ordered), spaghetti bolognese (OK), deviled eggs (disappointing), buttered Parmesan noodles for our child (fine), and key lime pie (good). Service was great.
Elevated new American bistro featuring well curated and eclectic menu. The ambiance, decor, and clientele have strong New York vibe (reflected in prices as well) and given it’s one of the few cute dining options in town, it gets busy as soon as it opens. Overall the experience was pleasant, the food was well flavored and portioned but on the saltier side. One disappointing dish was the spaghetti.

Went for my birthday dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised to see beef bourguignon on the menu! We also split the house white, roasted yam, and a key lime pie. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was chic and romantic. Would definitely go again!
We loved the restaurant but the food not so much! The spaghetti was somehow acidic, not to our taste... And the steak had a weird taste to it... We are also from Texas but I guess it just wasn't our type of food... Nonetheless we had two amazing servers, and they even made us some lemonade because we didn't want soda nor alcoholic beverages.

I’m only giving 2 stars to be nice. The service was mediocre. No one ever came to check on us after our food was delivered. The food was terrible. Coming from Austin where we have so many farm to table Italian eateries this didn’t even come close. I didn’t expect it to but this was my worse nightmare. I got the baked eggplant parm. It had the worst chunky m tomato sauce. The egg plant was just swimming in sauce and it was watery. I could barely taste any bread crumbs. It was just a soggy mess. Not how I like my baked egg plant at all. The bread was also just odd. It was overpowering with garlic and it just wasn’t balanced. The whipped burrata bread appetizer was okay. Some parts had way too much salt. It just wasn’t my favorite. I’ve had some great burrata bread dishes and this was low tier. There’s just nothing notable about this place. Go to cochineal, not here. For the price, this isn’t worth it. Paying Austin prices for low quality dishes.

The hostess was rude; they told us there was no room for anyone else and that it was early hours before the closing. We asked for an order to go. She told us we are super busy, and I repeat: you, no time to do it. I was trying to get just a lemon pie.
