I eat here 3 or 4 times a week (for dinner). I love it. They have the best fast food style Greek food around. The salad and protein plates are my absolute favorites. I like to get chicken and salad most of the time. And sometimes I will get the meat and salad. The dolmas are delicious and so is the pita bread and hummus. Will come back and eat here again soon. I love this place. UPDATE: I've been eating dinner here two to four times a week. I usually get a chicken wrap. It helped me lose 15 lbs over the past month and a half. If you get the wrap, and you're trying to lose weight, just make sure you get it without rice. It's delicious. Also, all the women that work there are beautiful 😍
Simply delicious! Will definitely be back, had the chicken shawarma and falafel and it was divine. Service was great also, will definitely be back soon. Cheers.
Decent spot for middle eastern food... Families are ok but not great atmosphere when it's full
Another winner! Started going to Dametra at Del Monte shopping center in Monterey and it was amazing! It became one of my wife and my favorite restaurants. It got my wife hooked on Mediterranean food. We have driven all the way over from Stockton just to get lunch. We then tried the original Dametra in Carmel and it didn't disappoint! Great food, service and atmosphere! Saw they were opening another one in Marina and decided to try it on the way to a wedding. Everything was great again! Keep up the great work and hopefully they keep expanding in the future. Edit as of 6/6/25- Why did you change what you use for the lavash for the wrap? The new one falls apart and doesn't taste anywhere near as good as the old one. Please switch it back.
Picked up catering for an intimate dinner after our wedding ceremony. Everyone LOVED the food. Great customer service and help through the ordering process, generous portions, and delicious food. Definitely recommend!
Great service by the front counter worker explaining the menu in depth
Pretty great restaurant. Went on a whim while out shopping, loved it so much that I convinced the wife to brave covid with me in order to go again! Best part is she loved it too... And that was our Valentine's Day outing of 2021! One day we'll be able to regale our grandchildren with tales off romance during the great pandemic. Awesome staff and amazing food, and super quick service
I can’t speak for the consistency of the food here, as I’ve only eaten there once. But the food was DELICIOUS. When I went, everything was warm and tasted fresh. It was incredibly refreshing and didn’t leave me feeling heavy or weighed down after the meal, despite it being a lot of food. I’m not from the area, and I get very bad stomach aches when I travel, and this settled my days-old stomach pains when nothing else would. It makes me sad to hear others have had such unpleasant experiences there, and I really hope Dametra is able to stabilize their quality issues because everyone deserves the experience I had here. I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could.
Great fresh food. Friendly staff at both Marina and Monterey locations. My go to when I'm out and about.
Lamb and beef gyro wrap. SO good!! Nice staff too.
I come here pretty much every week without fail, sometimes twice. I either go to the Marina or Del Monte Shopping center location, both are excellent. Staff are always very kind and knowledgeable about the ingredients they have on hand. Overall I really love this place and give it 5 stars because the food is so delicious. The cooks craft every ingredient with love. It's amazing to me that I can order an incredibly large meal with lots of vegetables that is still extremely tasty. I sincerely wish I could eat half a wrap and save the rest for later but 9 times out of 10 I can't resist eating the whole thing. I recommend going here to everyone I talk to. My week is pretty much incomplete without a trip to Dametra.
10/10 experience. Staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Chicken shwarma lavash wrap was delicious, as was the baklava.
Relaxed environment and staff is always super kind and friendly! I really love coming here. Great options in pricing, fresh food. Dimitri is doing amazing managing everything and is accomodating and kind. Thank you for your hospitality! ^_^
The food is amazing and so fresh. Staff friendly and informative. The lavash was so delicious and the sandwiches were excellent! My son had half gyros and shwarma on lavash, I had the kabob. The sandwiches were quite large...but we finished them because they were soooo good! Highly recommended.
Grabbed a gyro wrap & ice tea with my gal pals. We sat in a booth near the bar area so that we could have our food brought to our table. Good service & good food equals a good time at Dametra Mediterranean eatery.
The food is made with love fresh ingredients and great service definitely a goto spot for your Mediterranean fix.
Fast Fodd Mediterranean. Great Lamb Gyro (Shawarma). Dolmas were good. The Tabouli was heavy on olive oil but was good. All around it was a Great Experience.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit Gem – Dametra! Absolutely loved my experience at Dametra! The chicken shawarma wrap was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had — packed with flavor, perfectly wrapped, and beautifully presented. You can tell they put real heart into their food and service. Huge shoutout to Hamada and Dmitri for making the experience even better — their hospitality, energy, and attention to detail made me feel right at home. If you’re in town and want amazing food with top-tier service, Dametra is the spot. I’ll definitely be coming back!
We’ve been going to Dametra Mediterranean in Del Monte Center for years. When we learned they were opening this one, we were stoked! First off, you will receive a friendly greeting upon entering the restaurant. The employees are engaging and kind. If you’re unsure of what to try, ask and they’ll be happy to give you suggestions. I usually get the falafel plate or salad. My husband has tried most everything and loves all of it! All of the food is prepared to order, FRESH and fast! The restaurant and rest-rooms are spotless! Dametra also has a lovely little bar to the right as you walk in. We plan on trying a cocktail the next time we’re here. I love this little place and we happily recommend it! *Oh, don’t forget to try the baklava!
The food was so good, the service is good, they have restrooms there, parking but the food was little expensive
This place is bomb. We had the gyro and it was huge I couldn't finish it. What I loved the most was the different dressings. We also had a delicious Turkish coffee.
Yummy wraps, plates, and salads; Dametra in Marina serves the same menu as their sister restaurant at Del Monte Center. In addition, this location includes "The General", a bar serving appetizers, wine, and cocktails. The only issue we ran into is that they don't have any high chairs. Hopefully that is just a temporary situation. The gyro meat and chicken shawarma wonderful!
Loved lunch as always, first time going to their newer location in Marina. My gyro 🥙 🥗 was perfect. Sat outside, great for kids! Others in our group had chicken, and multiple other items, all impressed, the bar on the right hand side looked like fun, didn’t experience it more than from afar but the decor, and feel looked like a place you could enjoy. Parking was easy, and just and FYI they have SteakHouse style French Fries...maybe they have them at DelMonte location and I just didn’t notice.
The food is made with love fresh ingredients and great service definitely a goto spot for your Mediterranean fix.

Food was great, young woman with glasses helping us was very friendly & explained the menu well. 10/10 would come back food was very fresh & chicken kabobs were nice & juicy
I decided to stay overnight in Marina and was looking for a dinner option that wasn't fast food and wouldn't break the bank. Found Dametra through Google reviews and placed an order for pickup. Needless to say from the 5 stars, I really enjoyed what I ordered! I got the Gyro with the Greek salad and a side of fries and it was absolutely delicious with great flavor from the meat, and super fresh veggies! The dressing for the salad was pure heaven and their tzatziki was a cool, creamy dream. The fries were thick cut, but a little soggy once I made it back to the hotel... they'd be better eaten at the restaurant. This was a great spot and I will definitely stop by again whenever I'm in the area.
Looking for a Mediterranean place and this one popped up. They were SO YUMMY. The person who helped me was wonderful, she answered all my questions, and was just a kind human. Love that. They have an outdoor patio I could sit with my dog. And it was plenty of food, I had leftovers 🤤
The menu was a little confusing at first, but the lady behind the counter was very patient and did a great job walking us through it. Choose the "Toss It" option, which is a salad, and they loaded it up with lots of toppings. Only ate half and saved the rest for later. Enjoyed it so much, went back again a week later. They have live music on Wednesdays, but not sure if that's a regular thing.

Food is always good, we probably eat there 1 or 2 times a month, service was a little rude this last visit and they didn't tell us our order was ready, just left it on the counter. Definitely not the norm though. Falafel was a little overdone, which I discovered I really like crispy Falafel, so I may order it that way in the future. Owners are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
The staff was very nice! It reminds me of a Chipotle- style serving bar. No waiting! Plus plus! It may take awhile to learn the flavors and what goes with what. Thank goodness the music was low and in the background. I don't like it when I have to shout over the music! Most of the time I get my food and go eat in my car because the music is so awful in a lot of places.
I came in with my 13 year old to a warm smile and pleasant girl behind the counter. She made our order quick and the food was fresh! I loved the kebab meat, the hummus and their bread. I also tried the baba ganoush. It was amazing. We decided to sit in the side area which is there really cool bar and restaurant seating as well. Not sure if it was the manager or the owner but he was so kind, telling us we could sit there and next time we could even order from there at the tables. Service was incredible, also got to watch football on the TV. Nice atmosphere. Can't wait to come back.
Great Mediterranean fast food establishment. I would rate it expensive given the portions provided. Honestly, I can’t complain about it, but I wish sides were more generous. They limit pita bread to one piece per order. Extras can be purchased but not for cheap! Still, I do recommend it.
Fresh, quick, delicious, and friendly. Regarding the prices, they reflect the pricing everywhere these days. And the portions are better than most. So why waste your money on fast food when you can get this faster, healthier, tastier option? I asked Grok about Dametra and these were the results: Overview Dametra Fresh Mediterranean is a popular fast-casual restaurant specializing in authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, located in the heart of Marina, California. It’s known for its fresh, customizable meals that emphasize high-quality ingredients, aromatic spices, and healthy options—think Chipotle-style assembly but with a flavorful Greek twist. Diners can build their own bowls, wraps, or salads with choices like grilled meats, falafel, hummus, and vibrant sides. The spot blends casual dining with a welcoming vibe, offering indoor seating, a cozy outdoor patio, and takeout/delivery for quick bites. It’s a go-to for locals and visitors seeking flavorful, nourishing food without the formality of fine dining. History The restaurant is part of the Dametra family, founded by Syrian immigrant Bashar Sneeh and Jordanian-born executive chef Faisal Nimri, who bonded over their shared passion for Middle Eastern culture and cuisine after meeting in California. Nimri, who immigrated in 1994 and cut his teeth in Monterey’s restaurant scene, teamed up with Sneeh (who arrived in 2004) to open the original Dametra Cafe in Carmel-by-the-Sea in June 2008—a more upscale spot named after Damascus and Petra, featuring live music and belly dancers. That location quickly earned accolades, including “Business of the Year” from the Carmel Chamber of Commerce in 2010 and top rankings on TripAdvisor and Yelp. Building on that success, they expanded with a fast-casual outpost in Monterey in 2014, followed by the Marina location in 2018. Tucked into The Dunes shopping center, this site incorporates “The General Bar,” a historic sports bar vibe for drinks and game-watching, adding a fun, relaxed layer to the Mediterranean focus. As of November 2025, it’s thriving as a community staple, with ongoing menu tweaks to highlight seasonal fresh flavors. Menu Highlights The menu is build-your-own, promoting customization for dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free options abound). Key categories include: • Pitas and Wraps: Freshly baked pita stuffed with gyro, chicken shawarma, kafta kebab, or falafel, topped with tzatziki, tahini, or spicy harissa. • Plates and Bowls: Grilled kebabs (chicken, lamb, or veggie) over rice, greens, or quinoa, paired with authentic Greek salads, hummus, and sides like Mediterranean fries or dolmas. • Salads and Starters: Crisp Greek salads with house dressing, baba ganoush, or spanakopita. • Desserts and Drinks: Baklava, rice pudding, or herbal teas; the bar slings craft cocktails, local beers, and wines. Portions are generous and prices mid-range (entrees $12–$18), with rave reviews for the falafel, chicken kebabs, and that addictive Greek salad dressing. Recent updates include a “new menu” rollout emphasizing even fresher, lighter options. Atmosphere and Practical Info Housed at 120 General Stilwell Dr, Ste 110 (in The Dunes retail center, easy access off Highway 1), the space feels vibrant yet chill—bright interiors with warm lighting, plus that inviting patio for Monterey Bay breezes. It’s family-friendly, with kid-approved picks, and the staff gets consistent props for being friendly and efficient. Open daily: 11 AM–9 PM (Sun until 8:30 PM), with happy hour specials at the bar.
Good quick Mediterranean food option. Fresh and tasty, with vegetarian and vegan options. The General bar in the back is a hidden gem. Chill vibes with a great selection of beer and hard liquor.
Food was ok. The kafta kebab was dry and premade and stored in a heated container making it not super fresh.. gyros were a little dry. Would pass it as semi fast food. But quite expensive for the quality.

Maybe they had an off day, party of two, Saturday, 4pm'ish, chicken kabob was barely warm and dried out hard, and didn't want to slide off the skewer, turmeric rice was fine, wheat pita was cold n dry like right out of a bag, not even warmed up, dolma was perfect and delicious, tea was overly sweet but would have been delicious if not sweetened, kofte was delicious, hummus was delicious, Tzatziki delicious, chicken shwarma wrap delicious, overall would have been great with a little more care.(management) The potential is there, Also our server was fantastic, and the food not her fault at all.
Theres a gyro skewer on a vertical broiler that is spinning but the broiler is off. They will instead give you gyro boiling inside a pan. Their chicken comes off the broiler though.
Their lamb meat for their plate is ultraprocessed lamb sausage! Disgusting! It doesn’t look like meat! I threw it away.

Mid tier Mediterranean at an expensive price, especially for the portions given. Hummus is tastes like store bought hummus. Chicken Schwarma and Gyro meat is good though. This is basically Chipotle for Mediterranean food.
We paid almost $60 for 2 chicken shwarmas, 1 falafel, 1 fries and 1 soda. Was it worth it? Absolutely not! The food was below average and the amount was very far from generous. Only 3 salads are included in the meal, while eash additional you pay extra. The most annoying thing was to watch the workers using a mop to clean the floors, then handling money, then preparing food, all without gloves. 😒
My lamb and beef was a dry, oily, bland portion and just seemed like it was sitting there for a while in the pan before I was served. They were cutting some meat fresh off the spit and I wish I was getting that.💯 Got a couple of plates to go...when I got home there was no pita bread to go with it. 🤷
We had lunch here yesterday and have mixed feelings — a young girl helped us, she was a bit rude and made the experience very awkward/unpleasant. It was our first time here and she just seemed annoyed. The food was good, and we were really looking forward to being regulars when we saw the place online but now we’re a little hesitant.

Very disappointing! I've been a Dametra regular customer for how many years. But now I've noticed that as they jacked up their prices due to inflation, the servers are giving less and less rice & proteins, be it chicken, gyros, etc. for the Plate it order, not even enough now for one to be fully satisfied. Servers need more training to give adequate amount of servings, not just guessing how much to put in the plate. Or the management really trained and instructed the new staff to give little amount of food servings as much as possible. Very bad, not looking after customer satisfaction!
I’ve been to Greece many times, a gyro already includes meat, veggies, and sauce all wrapped together. But at this restaurant, you have to order a combo, which means you end up paying for sides you might not even want. It feels like a way to sell you more than you actually need. The gyro was made with processed meat, not real, freshly cooked slices — very disappointing for a place claiming to serve Greek food. On top of these, I had to wait for a while at the counter to order. Not a great first impression.
I’d award Dametra Fresh Mediterranean zero stars if I could. This is by far, the absolute worst mediterranean food I’ve ever eaten. Pardon my rant, but I feel it is my duty to forewarn you in hopes that I can save one person from this terrible food. I’ll start with the food and work my way down. I ordered a basic dish, Gyros (not a plate, a pita wrap). You’re supposed to be able to pick it up and eat it. As you can see in the picture, that was pretty much impossible. They basically turned my gyro sandwich into a gyro bowl. The meat was overcooked, and cold. The lettuce definitely came from a bag. Veggies didn’t seem fresh at all, and the pita bread was very stale. The rice was probably one of the only decent things about the dish. The sauce portions were definitely not adequate for the amount of food you get. All in all, very stale, with little effort put into the presentation of the food. Also, food was very difficult to eat as it was improperly assembled. Now on to the bag. They put my order in a to-go bag; each plate was boxed individually, but the sauces were in small plastic sauce cups with snap on lids and were placed haphazardly in the bag. One of the lids came off and got shatta all over the place. Why in the world would you not put all of the sauces inside a stable box? At the very least, throw them on top of all the boxes, not at the very bottom where they’re most likely to succumb a terrible demise. This is curbside pick-up 101 and the employees here definitely skipped that class. This is not the first time I’ve eaten at this location (in Marina), but it will absolutely be my last. My previous experiences have been nothing to write home about; the service and food were mediocre at best. However, this trip was the tipping point for me. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

Been here 3x when visiting my daughter. I kept thinking it was just a bad visit each time but I give up. This place wins for the absolute driest chicken kebabs on the planet and the prices don’t match the quality. I think they are precooked then cooked again using wooden skewers 🤷🏽♂️ We are from socal and the Med food there is always outstanding: chicken/beef kebabs are tender and moist and you can see them cooking on the grill using steel skewers. Try it and let me know - but I wouldn’t eat here again unless it was free. No Joke.
