I used to go to the mecca when I was younger. This is my first time going to their new spot and same great, awesome food. I got the pork and cheese burrito and their world famous bean dip and they haven't missed a step.

Delicious food and genuinely the friendliest service! Every bite was flavorful, fresh, and authentically prepared—we’re still talking about it. Even the half-portion was generous enough for leftovers! What made the experience even more meaningful was the beautiful artwork by Acosta on display. It’s deeply personal, telling the story of my friend’s grandfather—his heritage, hardship, and heart. It adds such richness to the atmosphere and reflects the authenticity of this place. An unforgettable meal in every sense. Highly recommend! 🙌

New Mecca Café has a long history in the community and I’m happy I finally got to try it! From the moment we sat down, we were treated to their famous bean dip, which was so good we couldn’t stop eating it—we went through multiple portions! For our meals, I ordered the Lengua in Ranchero sauce with a side of rice and beans, and it was absolutely flavorful—the meat was tender and soaked up the perfect amount of sauce. My son had the chicken flauta, which was crispy, well-seasoned, and delicious. My daughter ordered a quesadilla, and she ate it right up—always a good sign! My wife went with the chicken tacos, and they were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The portions were generous, the flavors were spot on, and the service was warm and welcoming. I really enjoyed the experience and finally getting to try this place!

Delicious! Inexpensive! Friendly staff! A friend & I popped in with 15 to 20 minutes before closing (sorry, I hate being last minute people). 3 different staff members helped us (as it was our first time). All 3 were amazing. The gentleman went to the back to make me food (I am pescatarian) he made a cheese enchilada, brought us chips, salsa & bean dip (all vegetarian). He didn't charge us. Simply amazing food, I would eat there everyday if I lived in the area. The pictures: the circular tin bowl is Chilaquiles (enough to feed 2 or 3 people). The taco is a potato taco, amazing!!!! The picture with multiple items is the cheese enchilada, salsa & bean dip.. mm mm so good!!! Everything but the Chilaquiles is vegetarian. Cheap & authentic food!!!! Must try!!!

Awesome restaurant! Good service, tasty food, adequate portions and good prices. We waited for about 5 minutes before we were seated inside but it was well worth the wait. Highly recommended!

In a word: slipping. Have been coming here for over 10 years. Food is still pretty good. Prices are still reasonable. Service has gotten very bad recently. It looks like an entirely new staff and they just don't seem to care at all. Another thing - which I don't think I have ever encountered before - its restroom capacity is totally inadequate. For some reason the men's room was locked yesterday, leaving only the ladies and handicapped restrooms. That is just not enough for a place this busy. Health department probably wouldn't permit this.

Went here with the family. First time at this place. As some others have said, restaurant is a bit dated and dreary. Could use a refresh. Place was doing a brisk business which we took as a good sign. They quickly got a table together for us. Waitress took a while to get to us as she had quite a few tables but service was decent once she got our drink order. Free chips and salsa as well as a bean dip were provided. The bean dip tasted very similar to the beans and red sauce at Taco Bell. This may make you pause but I actually like the beans and red sauce at Taco Bell so for me this was a good thing. Salsa on the other hand was way too watery and that I did not enjoy. The wife enjoyed her chimichanga with shredded beef my son found his food dry and bland. I was somewhere in the middle. It certainly was not terrible but wasn’t anything I’d be looking to return for. Overall disappointed in this place and I suspect there are some better options out there.

Definitely different. Bummed that they don’t offer horchata, but they do offer different kinds of beer. I ordered the Sunday special, chicken soup, which was served in a salad bowl (smh) besides the presentation it was good. The enchilada was ok, the sauce was not to my liking but over all the food was good. I payed a total of $18 + tip. The staff is really nice and attentive . For me personally, I most likely won’t come back.

I had been going to this restaurant for the past 30 years. It had been a few years since I had been and was excited to eat at my favorite Mexican restaurant. The decor and service hasn't changed. Service was always hit and miss, and the decor is always what I remember. The salsa was the same, they had the great flour tortilla chips. The bean dip was light on beans but was good. We got a bunch of all our favorite dishes. I got the chiliequiles with Guisada meat and it was what I remembered. The chili rellano was cold and the breading was too thick with not enough sauce on top. The enchiladas didn't have enough sauce as well. We all went in excited about eating at our favorite restaurant and left disappointed.

My husband and I patronized New Mecca today to purchase some Mexican food to watch the 49er game. Huge disappointment 😞. I ordered the New Mecca Special Plate #3. Horrible! The Chile Relleno had a big hunk of cheese in the middle( appeared to be frozen and not cook throughly). The 2 ground beef tacos tasted like the meat was soaking in water( no flavor). My husband's large deluxe nachos, he stated that they ""suck". We drove from Antioch to Pittsburgh. We get home to eat our food and watch the game. After taking 2 bites I immediately called the restaurant to speak to the manager. He offered that I drive back to the restaurant, miss the game, never offered to refund my money, and stated that I can order something else 🫩. Why would I do that? I was introduced to New Mecca back in 2023, the food was decent. Today was our first time going back after a couple of years. Huge disappointment. I Will never return. They just lost 2 good patrons! We are huge foodies.

I love this place and grew up going. Came back into town and of course had to come eat here but I was sooooooo disappointed. The food is not how it's always been. Theyre Chile rellenos were cold and not fresh like they used to be. They also were thickly battered instead of the thin battered they used to be. They were not good at all. They're tacos tasted different and the chicken was dry. They're rice wasn't as good and their Chilequiles were even off and the flavor was different. The chips they use aren't as good. They're bean dip seemed the same but the salsa also seemed off. They're salad didn't have enough dressing. I am soooo sad 😭😭😭. This place had been the same for the past 30 years and I'm sad to see they are going down hill. I hope they get back to what they used to be. It was basically the heart of this town bringing it to my school growing up. Did they change cooks? Did they change owners? Am I the only one not seeing this ?

Horrible food!!! I will never eat there again. I took my Silvia there at the New Mecca for lunch today and I ordered Chile Verde withe rice and beans & green salad. Silvia ordered the a younger dish in red sauce. To start the salsa if you call it a salsa was terrible! Watery and tasteless! Salad nothing special and the dressings we ordered again was watered down! No flavor! The bean dip was passable. To start when they put our plates in front of us the food all had the same exact coloring ( like brown dog food) the beans were canned with the same brown coloring. My dish was absolutely horrible!!! It was all brown floating in so much liquid and smelled like mop water. Silvia’s food to was horrible. When the waitress came with take home containers I said don’t bother I don’t like this food. I went to pay my bill left all the food on the table & told Janet ( The waitress) how bad the food was that it was like mop water and smelled disgusting but she smiled and took my payment and donate about my feelings on our experience there. Well we are definitely NEVR going back!!! Silvia said it’s canned food! Time Health Department to pay them a visit!!!

The customer service was good. They kept checking in to ensure the drinks were topped off. The establishment was a bit dingy. The food lacked flavor. It was bland and not a true representation of Mexican food for sure. I've had more authentic Mexican food from Taco Bell. 🌮 the burrito is labeled as gisado, and what you get is chunks of chicken, onions, and bell peppers without sauce or anything to enhance the flavor. The food was just inconsistent. Some had little to no flavor while the tacos seemed to be salty.
