Best taco shop in town. Fast and friendly service. I ordered the Supreme nachos, best ive had yet. Full of flavor and they don't skimp on the toppings!
A small/medium sized place with great food at a good price. Along with good service, and atmosphere. If you are new to the area and deciding where to eat then come check this place out, it's one of the best in town.
The food is great. They have a big menu, many combos, and different sauces to choose from. Only complaint would be that it's quite cold, but understandable because they are making hot food.
I have been going to this taco shop since I was 1 years old. By far the best taco place in Merced County. I will always go here first thing when I return home. I love it so much I had 3 burritos shipped to me in Korea.
What do you want to hear? That its cheap and good... typical review. Well not me. Everytime I come to merced I have to come here because the food has never disappointed me. From deviled shrimp(camarones a la diabla) to carne asada fries. This is worth checking out. And its good on your pockets.
Great food. Sometimes long lines but that is because out of all the taco shops this one must rank high. Friendly service and quick.
We went in last minute cause I always get off work late. No problem at all for these guys able to still make our order and served with a great attitude and amazing food..
Amazing food and big portions! There was a line when arriving but it went by fast and we got our food quickly too! Definitely a good spot to get food!!
The food was excellent even though they forgot to give me my orchata. I had their grande breakfast burrito and the bean and bacon combo was on point. My wife and I will definitely be coming back.
Great food! Breakfast burritos big enough that I am still full at lunch time! Yummy tacos! Just good, all the time!
The chili relleno burrito is absolutely the best ever. Employees are the so nice and the salsa bar and all the salsa's are Delish! Rolled tacos looked so good. I can't recommend this piece of heaven enough...... Yummmmmmmmmmy
Have you ever had a super Burrito and wondered "what makes it super?" Because you can't really tell they added anything? This is not an issue here! When you order a burrito supreme, you get a supreme burrito with plenty of guacamole and sour cream. You're going to bite into that burrito and get some on the tip of your nose! This is a grade A burrito, and that's not even mentioning the shrimp diabla burrito! If you love camerones a la diabla, but are tired of only getting 6 shrimp at other places then come here and get this burrito. I guarentee that you'll love it!
I have been coming here for 15+ plus years and when the actual owner has them make the nachos supreme and carne asada quesadilla the way we like them there the best in Merced County have tried other places but can't beat these nachos
Don’t sleep on this place! Their food is good and has flavor a lot of places food look good but use no seasoning and they do!!!!! The jimica drink is so good.
Anytime I return to my hometown of Merced, if there's a chance to visit this taco shop, I will. The price and portion are beyond worth it. The service is fast and friendly. Clean establishment. Great food that is cooked well. The burritos are my favorite.
Really good food at a great price. I usually go there for lunch and take it out. I've never had to wait more than 7 or 8 minutes. Very friendly staff that are attentive to the patrons.
Great selection, excellent food. I look forward to my next visit to Merced just so I can try something else from the many choices here! As many times as I've eaten here I am always surprised at how great it is. And service is as fast could be reasonably expected.
came from Utah to eat some of the best Mexican food around. #10 breakfast plate🤤🤤👌.
Great little taqueria and authentic tastes. Highly recommend the Chile Rellenos. Perfectly cooked and just enough heat to make the senses taste the care put into the entrees. My friend had the Carne aside fajitas and enjoyed them as well.
Food is always most excellent and ready before you arrive freaking awesome nothing comes closer it home made!! Yupper, Just like that Yo 😋 try 8 rolled Taco's and a Steak & Marinated Shrimp Flying Saucer y tostada con flour shell tell Old Blue Eyes Henry best service in town sit down or fast food
Got the Flying Saucer - very well made, even distribution of ingredients so I got a bit of everything in each bite, tortilla stayed crispy until I got so full I couldn't finish! Very friendly and efficient young lady working at the register. We were there around 6 in the evening and only had to wait a few minutes to get our tasty dinner. Highly Recommend!!
Best authentic Mexican food. Doesn't have ambiance but who needs that when food is great, prices are good, employees are friendly. Update: 7/2023 Same, doesn't change. Still as delicious and authentic. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend.
This place was really good. Recommended 100%. This is truly authentic mexican food and the burritos are made with soft hand made flour tortillas you can tell they are not store bought tortillas. The service is excellent super quick and efficient. Will definitely be coming back!
I thoroughly enjoy stopping by for a exponentially delicious Supreme Asada Burrito as well as their freshly prepared salsas. I enjoy getting to know the staff at this location as they go above and beyond to accommodate your needs an may even memorize your usual order. I'd highly recommend stopping in!
This is the go to college place. Great food good vibes. Food is authentic and delicious. Fast service and you can see them make the food right in front of your eyes. No fancy distraction just good food good service good people.
Beef quality is pretty good, my girl said it was similar to how her mom would make it but the cheese they use threw her off. Place is pretty clean, food quality was higher than I expected so 5 stars to the workers. The only downside is it's not as much food as I was expecting for the amount that I pay for, but if I were to crave decent Mexican food then it wouldnt really be an issue. This place also seems like a good place for a quick and small bite.
It was two days ago, on a night just like tonight... The fog was so thick that my mother-in-law could barely see the painted lines on the ground, driving by instinct alone, hoping the Ford F150 would remain on the road until the lights of the shopping center could guide us to our destination. Fortunately for us, those lights did appear, as glowing fog pockets of joy. After trolling our way through the lot at what would have been appropriate racing speed for the cousin of Speedy Gonzalez (Slowpoke), we finally docked in front of El Asadero. Once inside, my family (who have eaten at approximately infinity taco shops in their lives) proceeded to act as if they had never been to a taco shop. After letting other experienced customers go in front of us, we finally stepped up and ordered from the very friendly and helpful staff. A quick wait later, we got our food, returned to our ship, and made our way home with the speed of a retired racing snail. I always get the 6 taquitos. They're great, along with everything else here. Highly recommended.
One of the best places to get a breakfast burrito around!! The food is great. People are friendly and helpful and its in a nice area of town. Cant go wrong with El Asadero!
Their surf and turf burrito is amazing and their california burrito on point with mild sauce. One of the best hispanic foods there is and staff are awesome. Can order through the phone and they ususally take 10 min so the wait time is fast. Would recommend to anyone who wants delicious burritos.
Growing up in Merced, CA, this was always the ideal spot to get Mexican food, even amidst so many different options. I have since grown up and moved an hour away, but coming here is always a highlight of coming back home. The food is authentic, and the service is professional and speedy. Every person I have recommended this restaurant to has walked away with a similar opinion. There is not a menu option that you can go wrong with. Go with the Fish Taco's no doubt!
Great food and open early, i like I can order anything from their menu at anytime of the day because they make their food when it's ordered. It's not fast food or reheated food but it's cooked fresh in front of you when you order it. There service is great and prices are affordable. I definitely recommend this place.
This is the best Mexican restaurant that we have ever had the pleasure to find. Now we live in Italy and miss their cuisine, their service and the flavors they are passionate in using. You don''t know what you are missing until you feast on their food. They know perfectly what they are making. Perfect food.
By far my fave asada fries!! Mainly because I love the fact they put nacho cheese on them & some amazing guacamole! I live in Fresno & still drive just for their food. So glad my ex introduced me to this place, haven't left since I started going there.😊🤤👍👍👍
Other than not being able to call in our order because the phone just rang and rang everything was amazing! I came in and ordered an enchilada plate, a chimichanga plate and a quesidilla. They filled the order quickly and the food was wonderful! They always give generous amounts of food and it all tastes so fresh.
We stopped here for the first time after dropping our daughter off at college. The restaurant was pretty busy so we figured okay food must be good. My husband ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and I ordered a chile verde burrito. It took about 15 minutes for us to get the food then we hit the road to start our trip to the coast. They got my husband's order wrong. He got a bacon sausage ham burrito instead of the chorizo burrito. My husband did not mind because regardless it was very good. My chile verde burrito was amazingly delicioso! Will definitely stop here again when we head this way again! The staff was also very friendly! The picture is my chile verde burrito. I was unable to take a picture of my husband's burrito, he ate it all!
This cafe looks to be family-run. There were quite a few people working there on a Sunday afternoon. The service was great, and quick. The tacos were "old fashioned" -- the taco shells were hard and fried (not soft like "street tacos"). So while there were some extra calories, they were really delicious. They have traditional aguas frescas -- Jamaica, Orchata -- too.
By far , their Carne Asada fries are the best. EVER.... Their portions can feed two or just one hungry person. Can't say enough. My favorite, plus the men always gentleman when taking orders.
the more I eat here the more I've grown to like it. The food comes out quick and taste authentic. the restaurant is pretty busy during lunch but I manage to get out of there in about a half hour. my favorite is the menudo they serve during the week.
I've been going to the taco shop for over 10 years. Always had good service and fast too! My favorites are the carne asada nachos and the fish tacos. They can get busy at times, so you might want to call ahead.
Always good. They have the best shrimp cocktail, and garlic shrimp too. We've never had a bad meal. One of our favorite places. Since I can't respond back to the one who left a review about not getting free chips... you ordered at a counter, they don't bring your food to you. And you never said anything about the food other than no free chips.
Always fast service, good food and friendly staff. Their hot sauce is also one of the best I've had in Merced so far!
The food is always fresh and ready in 15 minutes if not faster. The service is impeccable! They have an amazing memory and great food. I love the fish tacos. I'm not sure if they have the white sauce for it anymore but I love how much veggies they give you. They also have a salsa bar with carrots and jalepenos!
Was not expecting it to change the taste of the food. Had gone once before . Back then, it was a mouth-watering experience. Was there two days ago. Didn't like the tacos. They add guacamole on the tacos, and now it made the tacos taste sour. Didn't like them at all.
This is the only place I go to get me a delicious burrito and Amazing customer service. They always treat me like la familia
The burritos are amazing and a great size. The variety of salsa is good and very tasty.
Best hamburger and fresh in Merced. My personal recommendation bacon cheeseburger with white onion and jalapeños. Oh I almost forgot they make great Mexican food too! But have a bacon cheeseburger with all of the fixings except tomatoes. I hate tomatoes.
The burritos are high and soooo delicious. I had combo plate and they give you plenty to eat on the combo plates.
I live in S Carolina and was working in Merced for a few days, and we were looking for a place for a coworker and I to grab lunch close by. I set my phone to search for top rated and this was one of the first. We were not disappointed. It was actually so good we went back the next day. I saw a few bad reviews and know sometimes things happen, but my experience with this establishment (2 days in a row) led me to give a nice 5 star review. The food tasted great, Chili Verde was awesome, the sides were great too. The roasted salsa on the salsa bar was my favorite but I tried them all and they were good too. Different days, different cashiers each time, both were extremely courteous!
Nice and good people working here. Food is very good, and cost is low. Their menudo is good and fresh. They have Rosa de Jamaica, and orchata, both refreshing. The place itself is very basic, but clean. Not cozy, nor romantic, instead I would call it cafeteria functional. It is almost always full.
Great little place for some HUGE yummy greasy burritos. Really nothing about the menu is authentic Mexican, but I'd expect most people know that going in. They don't skimp on the portions, and the food is well priced.
Always my go-to for breakfast burritos in Merced. Fresh ingredients and flexibility. Used to be a 5 star, but burritos have gotten smaller. Still tasty though!
I've always had a great experience here. The food has always been pretty good and the staff is very friendly. The only issue I've had is that they have gotten my order wrong many times
It feels like this place has improved over since the start of the pandemic. The food overall tastes better and more fresh, and the sauce is definitely better than it used to be. The service is great too
Flavorful chicken enchiladas and horchata! My bf and I both really enjoyed our meals! The guac wasn’t what I expected— it was more sour cream like. Also, they use styrofoam plates and cups— I wish they would swap this for a more eco friendly option.
The staff is nice, and my order is always accurate when I receive it. Food is always hot, too. I love their Carne Asada Fries, in which I substitute chicken. I also love their fish tacos, pretty yummy and crispy! Their tacos are a good size as well. I usually order three, but 2 fill me up. My family are regulars here. The atmosphere isn't too bad, but I don't care for dining in. Will add photos next time I order here :) My brother is fond of their Chile Verde plate. I also quite enjoy their Carnitas plate.
As I said before in a previous review, it is very difficult to review Mexican restaurants because every chef has a there own take on a dish. This place is no different. I like coming here for breakfast because the food they serve is fantastic. My only concern for this place is just the ingredients they choose and the presentation of the food. Some of the ingredients do come from cans and that is ok if you know how to cook it correctly. However, I'd rather not see it be opened on the spot, rather just have it prepared prior to cooking, but that is just my opinion. I understand that other restaurants do the same thing so this is normal, but there are ways to improve on the serving and preparation. A really good aspect on this restaurant is the proportions of the food. For the price you pay, I can say 100% that it is worth it because the dishes are big enough that you can get full in one dish and that is really good. Overall, I would reccomend this for someone who just wants to eat for fun.
The food is great. I usually get the California burrito or asada fries. The only reason i give 4 stars is because of the customer service. Most of the people who work there are really cool but the girl that’s usually at the register always has this attitude and doesn’t make the experience too friendly at all.
The food was great. I ordered the fish burrito. It was my first time ordering that item here. I wanted something not too heavy. It was perfect. The fish inside was breaded, and it was two pieces inside. Added their salsa along with the jalapeños and carrots. Service was prompt and quick. Inside the building was clean with very minimal decor. I would order this again in the future.
The food is always amazing I had shrimp ceviche my favorite. My daughter n grandkids had carne asada fries and a buché taco. The only reason for 4 stars is because their was a customer waiting listening to something annoying on his phone right behind me... I'd never been so annoyed being in this establishment. People should be more considerate to others. Not everyone wants to listen to others videos being that its all ready noisy in there especially during lunch.
Not bad, not great. It was a little pricey. We got two burritos and three sodas for just over $20. I might try it again if I'm nearby, but certainly won't make a special trip to eat there.
Wasnt that impressed with my 2 burritos i got just kinda dry and bland. The workers saw us standing there ready to order but just turned around and started going about their buisness which is fine just let a guy know hey we see you there and we'll be right with you. Not real good customer service skills.
I tried the nachos twice already and although the cheese is good, the chips have been stale both times. And idk what kind of “guacamole” they use but it’s not made from avocado. It’s bright green as if it was just sour cream with food coloring. Other than that the food is good.
Walked in place was alright, nothing like I’m used to in San Diego. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a large drink came out to be Nine something and the burrito was super small. Other than that there wasn’t any plastic cups for the salsa so I ate my burrito without any salsa.
The young man that took my order was nice, and he didn’t rush me. When my food was ready, the lady did not like that I asked for sauce, as if i wasn't a customer or whether my burrito requires none (I've had better experiences there without the lady, so im not letting this one change it). The cook can hear my order from the register, so he began cooking to help expedite things 👍
The girl at the counter was so not welcoming 🙄 she was very much the what do you want and get out of here attitude. Very bothered that I was deciding with my 5 year old son on my 1st visit too. The decor is dated but the food was good so at least that's the main thing that mattered. I'll never come here again 4 dollars for 1 Taco 🌮 I just split it into two since they give you 2 Tortillas for 1 order
The food is pretty good here, but I have to say that the owner who works the front counter has a bad attitude. He's nice to some people, but if you aren't a regular, you ask questions about the food, or heaven forbid you ask for more than 2 salsa cups you're treated like a secondhand citizen. I've been to this place probably at least 7 times, and every time the same guy has the same bad attitude! I've always had the philosophy that no matter how horrible your day is going, if you work in customer service, it's wrong to take that out on your customers. It not only makes their experience bad, but it drives them away! If you can deal with the attitude problem of the workers, than I'd recommend this place just for the food.
I ordered the #4 special. I give this place a 3 because of the value, service and guacamole I was served. I got a lot of food for the price, was more than one serving and I could’ve taken the rest to go after eating lunch. I most liked the beef taco, didn’t end up finishing the bean tostada or the rolled tacos. The rolled tacos had ground meat inside, with a strange green colored sauce (similar to artificial food coloring green used in cake frosting and tasted like avocado ranch) poured on top with lettuce tomatoes and cheese at the very top. The special said the rolled tacos were served with guacamole and so I assume this green sauce was supposed to be the guacamole. All in all okay food, service could be friendly.
Delicious food that never disappoints but the reason for my 3 stars is because of the rude woman that works at the counter. It never fails, every single time you call a order in she has got the be the rudest person I have ever dealt with. I've been a customer ever since they opened up in the 90s but because of this chick, I've been returning less and less. There is 0 reason to cop an attitude with someone that's trying to place a simple order.
I heard a lot of good things about this place and decided to give it a try. I ordered a wet burrito supreme with green sauce and a large Jamaica. Every Taqueria I’ve ever been to gives complementary chips. But not this one. I really don’t like to leave anything less than 4 or 5 stars but in this case I had.
A friend told me about the asada fries so we decided to try it while we were close by. Grab 2 tacos each and split the fries with my wife. The tacos were flavourful and good portion. The fries were pretty good overall and was more than both of us could eat sharing. We walked away with happy full bellies at a price that didn't kill our wallet.
This place is definitely hit or miss. I don't know if it's the pandemic, but the quality of food and service have steadily declined. Very stingy with their salsa, food has been extremely bland and their asada fries are not as good as they used to be. I'll go here if I HAVE to but it's definitely not my first choice for Mexican food. It gets the job done, if you have the right people working
Great food but terrible customer phone service. That girl was in a rush to hang up. I get your busy, but come on, have some decency and some patience. 2 out of 10.
The food was not good and cold, no taste in the food tasted bland, the drinks we horrible but the workers are nice yet there were a lot of tables that were dirty
Went recently, and the food was just okay. Nothing impressive and more expensive than other Mexican food restaurants. I spent close to $100 to feed a family of 5. The staff were butt slapping each other in the back. I'm not going back.
Went to El Asadero for dinner and I have to say it was really disappointing. The wait was long and they put so much in one bag that the bottom meal was crushed. The supreme asada burrito was not good, it was basically like a burrito smoothie, it was all bean, sour cream and guac sauce. There was almost no meat and it wouldn't have been so slushie if they atleast put rice. Also, the asada fries were swimming in cheese with hardly any fries. The rice, beans, and soda were good but everything was so sloppy it was just not good.
Beans and rice were fresh and delicious but the rest of my meal was bad. Carnitas was dry and tamales were also dry and lacked flavor. Gave more than 1 star because staff was nice and the atmosphere was good but it was the food that mattered the most.
Everytime I come here, they run out of carne asada, at least until the next person in line asks, which they then have it available again. But they have other meats available, just not as good. Not sure why they refuse to sell me asada, but I recommend going to a taco truck instead. Cheaper, better tasting, and won't refuse to sell a certain type of meat for reasons I have no clue over.
Was wanting good mexican food and what I received was canned at best!!! My family ordered nacho supreme carne asada tacos, asada burrito with rice and beans and chips. Chips are not fresh, beans taste as if they are from a can and the cheese on the nachos is no better than what I taco bells serves. For 40$ I was expecting AUTHENTIC mexican food!!! Lesson learned my family and I will not be returning customers!
Pretty disappointed and I will not return. The young lady who took my order had such an attitude! What was really upsetting is she didn’t have the same attitude with the person who ordered before and after me. This has been the last few times I went. Not to mention I started going years ago to the one in Turlock. I have been a big supporter but I will NEVER support them again.
While the food itself was alright, we had to wait a half hour for a small amount of food. Also, we ordered the rolled tacos and they used this freak nasty fake guacamole which was really just sour cream with food coloring. The bathrooms were pretty gross as well, I literally slid on the floor when trying to stop walking. Don't waste your money here.
Food has always been great here. But today we found hair in our food. Everyone was nice about it when my husband took it back except for a lady that was working there she started making really rude comments about it and giving us a bad look like if did something wrong..
How TF does this place have 4.5 stars ? First off horrible customer service! Secondly the asada fries were trash ! The “guacamole” was definitely fake and the cheese was straight from the can and it was lumpy. How are they going to serve you food to dine in, on styrofoam plates?
Sorry Im not judgemental n I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings right now, cuz I get all these questions n ask for reviews, especially since I travel around Califas all day then I'm going to tell the truth l, food is expensive today so when I order out I expect my food to taste really good n be in a nice clean restaurant, people n myself can't afford to waste money on food or time. So please don't take my truth to the ♥️ I'm just keeping it real.
This was very upsetting. I was not expecting to go to a “taco shop” and when ordering two tacos with everything on them, that that meant only meat and guacamole was everything. I will be going to a taco truck next time so that when I ask for EVERYTHING, I will get more than just meat and guacamole.
We stop by at this place because it was mentioned as the best Mexican food in the area. I ordered the 6 rolled tacos and it came with fake guacamole made of cream and green color. If you are visiting this area, I recommend you to not visit this restaurant. Also, the service was terrible! Don't waste your money here.
