The view is what it is all about here. Yes, the food is wonderful and the service is top tier but enjoying the sunset from the rooftop is spectacular. We especially enjoyed the time Ricardo spent helping us select wines and understand Mezcal options as well. He clearly understands how much difference great service makes to your experience for the evening. Food was wonderful start to finish highlight though was the Dulce de leche. Divine!
Went here for our anniversary, the food tasted great, the restaurant is beautiful and located in a great place with an amazing view if you sit on the rooftop. Owen served us and he was exceptional providing both English for me and Spanish for my girlfriend perfectly. I only wish the portion size was a bit bigger but an overall wonderful experience
Karen was a fabulous server and helped me practice my (very poor) spanish throughout the dinner! The honey that came w the habenero honey chicken was lacking spice, but it was a delicious dinner with a gorgeous view and wonderful service to boot! Highly recommend for anyone looking for dinner w a view and friendly service 😋
Culinary delight 20.967709°, -89.623656° You should look for the small entrance in the Plaza de la Independencia a.k.a. “Plaza Grande”, to the left of the Palacio de Gobierno del Estado de Yucatán. Behind the entrance, there are stairs to the dining room on the first floor (2F) and another staircase to the roof terrace on the second floor (3F). Picheta is a highly rated TripAdvisor restaurant in the centre of Mérida. The roof terrace offers panorama views of the historic Plaza Grande, especially at night when the lights come on. A very romantic and luxurious place to dine. In December 2024, we chose to have cocktails at the bar before dinning. We ordered Margaritas (Mex$180) as our first cocktail, followed by La Doña (Mex$220) with chilli powder on the rim of the glass. Very tasty cocktails. At our table, we started with traditional soup de lima with turkey and toasted omelette (Mex$160) and tuna toast with lime, avocado, cucumber, coriander, sesame oil and tortilla ashes (8 pieces) (Mex$230). Both starters tasted fine with white house wine (Mex$850 a bottle). As main courses, we ordered buttery-and-rosemary aged beef steak, sauté of truffled mushrooms and tree spinach served with mashed potatoes (Mex$540). The steak was perfectly prepared with lovely flavours and a fine texture. We finished this excellent diner with sweet milk caramel cake, vanilla ice cream from Papantla and red berries (Mex$240) and hazelnut dacquoise with caramelised banana, pastry cream and salted caramel glaze (Mex$210). Great way to finish an excellent dinner. Service was highly professional. English menu is available. Picheta sees itself at the heart of Yucatecan contemporary gastronomy with in-house and guest chefs creating unique dishes with local ingredients. Not cheap, but worth the culinary experience of local flavours. Highly recommended.
Such a beautiful place with the most amazing views. We had a great night. Service was a bit slow but we appreciated the time between courses. However, we would have appreciated more attention to our empty glasses. And although I think it was a fluke, my husband was served his cocktail with a bee floating in it. Yes, a bug! There was no apology, no compensation and zero remorse. I would have thought for a restaurant of that popularity they would have acknowledge that and apologized. That being said, I would go back in a heartbeat.

We went to Picheta the last night of the MeridaFest in 2026. We had a great table next to a window overlooking the Plaza Grande in the City Centre, so we were able to overlook all the celebrations th…
food and drink were good, but the location steals the show. Ask to for a rooftop table once the sun is down. Overlooks a beautiful square in Merida.

Great place and we went there several times during our stay both for dinner and just a drink. Great food and a spectacular view over the plaza.

Perfect location and views. Food was delicious and drinks were good. My favorita was the Cenote desert - a must! And Owen provided such great service. We had an incredible evening! Thank you.
Javier made this visit great. Food was delicious, view of the cathedral was worth the visit alone. Make a reservation for a Friday, would absolutely recommend.
Dinner with hubby, who is celiac; this restaurant offers gluten-free menu options and the rooftop view is an amazing feature, too. We ordered a bottle of Mexican wine ($1300 pesos/$100 Cdn!!). The Food was served up in a decent fashion. He had the cold lime soup and I had the Zucasotto as an appetizer. He had a chicken entre and I had the ravioli. Both were served hot and were very good, but not outstanding. You're paying for the view of the cathedral and city hall. And the live music performed by a group at city hall. It was our last night in Merida and worth every penny. Highly recommend this venue, even if you just enjoy a drink or two at the bar. Lottsa stairs so not accessible, sadly.
If you’re looking for a cool rooftop bar with amazing views then this is the spot in Merida! Unfortunately, the cocktails are average, the prices are very high for Merida, and the service is subpar. Our waiter, after trying to rush us into ordering dinner, seemed very dissatisfied that we weren’t ordering much and left us to never return. We finally flagged down another server and ordered two more mediocre cocktails and the raviolis as an appetizer (which I would recommend). After enjoying the view for another 15 minutes or so we decided to leave to find another place to have dinner.
Food is incredible. I had the soft shell crab and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in Merida. Rooftop views are beautiful The service was not what I would expect from a place like this. Just small things like having to ask for cutlery when our mains arrived and a glass of house wine taking 10+ mins to arrive when there were only 3 other tables in the dining room. I would just expect a more streamlined experience at a place of this calibre. Overall a good spot and we would visit again in the future
The rooftop opens just before sunset. It has a perfect view of the square and cathedral. The food wasn't bad, but I would not venture to call it value-for-money when it comes to flavour or volume. It is very expensive for what you get. Beautiful interior decor, though. The atmosphere is sophisticated with some great abstract art.
The service was indifferent at best and the food mediocre on a good day. So disappointing. WE had much better food at a local buffet outside of Chichen Itza than we did at this place. The view …

Magical terrace. But reservation staff plays games. Insist on an outdoor table on roof. Service attentive. Food good, portions small for price. Still, a beautiful experience on a nice night.
Sure the view at sunset is nice. The tuna tostadas are good, but the bland mezcal cocktails for 250 Mxn (£15) each ! What a total ripoff!! I tried to explain to the bar man the level of citrusy non sweet cocktail I like and he gave me cucumber water with no alcohol. Watch out for these con men. Stay for the sunset and leave
I’m writing this review in case anyone is like me and reads reviews and is surprised because it’s mostly positive reviews. . If you come here, then you must sit on the terrace. It is for sure gorgeous and a great view. I do wish they played some softer or live music instead of what they chose, but it was still a nice vibe. That said… I have to say I was utterly underwhelmed by the food and the saving grace was the glasses of wine I had. . I had a glass of red from Mexico and it was lovely. The server recommended it, though he did say yes to everything being good. . I started with a guacamole with smoked meat, which was good, but not unreal. It was a decent size, but expensive by even North American standards. I did add some salt and lime which enhanced the flavors. . As a main I had the shrimp alfredo, which all the reviews raved about. It was a small portion (something others noted), the shrimp was overcooked and the sauce was quite bland. When the server checked in I had asked for fresh pepper, which they didn’t have, so he offered to have the chef remake it. I am quite certain they literally just tossed some extra cheese in my dish and mixed it up and replated it. When it returned it was no better and when I told the server he simply burst out laughing. I didn’t finish the pasta and did enjoy my glass of sav blanc and salvage the moment with the view, but left disappointed. . The server didn’t comment further and proceeded to take my dish away even though I hadn’t finished. I then asked for the bill and carried on. No follow up and no consideration. My meal was just under 1000pesos with the two dishes and 2 glasses of wine. . I did see that guests seem to be getting some sort of card and told to fill out a survey. I’m guessing they only get that if they’re sure they enjoyed the meal. . It’d recommend coming for wine and if you aren’t particular about tour food, then this may be satisfactory. I won’t bash it, because it wasn’t awful, but it definitely wasn’t worth the price point or the excellent reviews. I did manage to take some good pics though.
Nice rooftop location with impressive interior design. I inquired about wine by the glass. The server showed me an iPad with a few wines, with prices flashing by. I made the mistake of choosing a…
The view, spectacular. The service, not much interaction or follow-up. The food, definitely not impressed. My salad was socked with vinegar, barely and fruits as described in medium and those white drops was cream, barely any nuts, not creativity. The tacos of carnitas was ok. Not worth the price for neither.
We ordered carpaccio, tuna crostini, venison burger, chicken breast and fettuccine, and all of the dishes were extremely disappointing. The pasta taste like plane milk, no seasoning at all, the chicken was dry and had a plastic pipette with just honey, the bread of the burger tasted old and the carpaccio was so bad that we decided to better focus on the view that was actually very nice. If you go there I will recommend to maybe take a drink but definitely save your cravings for another restaurant.
