Went here after traveling around south Florida & stopped by here to eat a late lunch & it didn’t disappoint! Good view & we were seated quickly. The view itself was amazing & having the pier right behind us to walk was very pleasant. Lots of food options & when we placed our order, in a couple minutes received our food. It was presentable & tasty, the drinks were cold & crisp. For being in Miami the price for this type of food wasn’t bad at all. Staff were very friendly & helpful. The restaurant & bathrooms were kept clean. Very nice restaurant & didn’t break the bank!
Unbeatable vibes at Sandbar! This is easily one of the best spots in Sunny Isles Beach for a sunset drink. Sitting right on the Newport Fishing Pier, you get a 360-degree view of the Atlantic Ocean that you won’t find anywhere else. I loved the tropical cocktails—the flavors are fresh and perfect for the beach atmosphere. The service was friendly, and the breeze over the water makes it so much cooler even on a hot day. It’s a great place to relax after a walk on the beach. Pro tip: Arrive just before sunset to catch the amazing colors over the skyline
This spot was great! We originally came to check out the boardwalk, which was fun. There are benches along the walk which was nice to sit down and enjoy the view. We were also able to watch a few people catch some fish. While there, we decided to grab lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The fish tacos were delicious, only three, but each one was loaded with meat and topped with a flavorful sauce. The cheeseburger was pretty standard, but the fries were excellent. The service was a little slow, but the staff was friendly, so that helped. After lunch, we walked down to the public beach for a quick swim. The water was clear and refreshing. It was a bit crowded due to nearby hotels, but still a great experience overall!
It’s been a while since I had dined here when there apparently was different ownership and menu. The staff appears well trained and happy to work here. Food was fresh and delicious. The view doesn’t hurt either.
The best coconut I’ve ever had! Fresh, naturally sweet, and perfectly chilled. The vibe at Sandbar at Newport Pier is super chill with a beautiful beach view. Great service, relaxed atmosphere, and pure tropical pleasure in every sip. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic Miami beach experience!
Stopped by at 4:30 on a weekday for happy hour specials. In fact there is none unless you go to the bar for a discounted drink of well or draft beer. After tax and auto service charge it’s about $6 - $7 a drink. We split chips & quac & tenders b/c we weren’t too hungry just coming for what we thought was a mid day deal. Nice place, fast and friendly service. Parking is awful. Deck not allowed and have to wait for an empty spot in the little lot or find something blocks away. Nice walk on the pier afterwards.
We had lunch here and really enjoyed the views + the awesome food with mocktails 🍸. Only issue is that parking is tight there, and if you park your car in a nearby shopping complex, as soon as they see you leaving the shopping complex, they will tow away your car 🚗 But staff and good quality were unremarkable. A great place to enjoy your meal 😋
I have been coming here for years. I could have sworn I left a review already. This place is my favorite place on Earth! I am a regular here as it is my office away from my office. I love the staff and they make excellent drinks and food. I especially recommend the California Chicken Sandwich. The views are amazing and it is the only place in Miami-Dade where you can literally be eating on top of the very place where the waves are crashing. The restaurant is quite literally on top of the beach & shoreline.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, highly recommend!
The view is awesome! The terrace tables are at the entrance to a large bridge “over” the sea. The service was great, the atmosphere was the best, but the food and cocktails were 0/10. We ordered a plate to share that had fried yucca, shrimp, octopus, fish sticks and some sauces. The best thing about the dish was the sauces 💀. The cocktails (they were wine base) were not delicious at all.
Best sushi roll I've ever had in life. The margaritas were great too!! We sat at the bar and the bartender was awesome!
Our experience at the Sandbar was the best part about our trip to Sunny Isles Beach. The atmosphere & view was wonderful, lots of great people. Julio provided outstanding service, went above and beyond, and made great menu recommendations. You could tell he truly cares about the quality of ingredients and food that is served at the Sandbar. Sebastian was also a phenomenal barkeep, very on top of things even with a crowd. We ate here a few times and every item we ordered was delicious. You cannot go wrong by ordering any of the sushi items, chicken fingers or any of the sandwiches. If you get a chance, you have to visit the Sandbar.
I was sitting outside looking at the sea with my family, the attention was really professional and friendly. Delicious food and one of the best Mojitos I've had in Miami. We really liked the place and the atmosphere inside and outside the restaurant. Just the service you expect on a Sunday afternoon at a beachside restaurant. I recommend it!
My drink almost gave me a stroke (that’s a good thing). Most places nowadays barely put liquors in the drinks, so, to my surprise,my strawberry lemonade was perfectly made. The view was a killer 💓 the beach is my happy place so...yeah, we were there just in time to catch the sunset. Our food was deliciously made as well. Uhm, I did feel as though, we could have been seated further apart to at least give the illusion that protocols were being followed...but hey it was super windy outside, so that could be the reason. Anywhoo, we paid $80 (gratuity included) for everything. So compared to most beachfront places in SunnyIsles, the quality and the portion of the dish, for that price, was worth it. Overall...we had a good time. The place is kept clean. Our server Julia was super nice. And the host seating outside made us feel beyond welcomed. I will definitely go back and try other things on the menu. (The food was that good... YUMM🤤)
Amazing views, and very friendly staff! I had a burger, and it was the best burger I have ever had. Reasonably priced for the location. Will definitely come back when I am back in Miami! It is a very short walk from the Newport Beachside hotel, so if you are staying there make sure to check this place out!
I am a regular adventurous person and love the variety of drinks, food and appetizers here at the Beach Bar @ Newport Pier. Beer is always cold. Buffalo shrimp are always hot and you can count on great service from everyone on the staff. Especially Raquel and Chelsea will keep your drinks cold and your face smiling. Try it out. Tell me I’m right or wrong!
I often visit this restaurant bar. It is not a fine dining but here you can eat with an amazing view to ocean and the smell of the ocean.. EDIT April 2024: We recently paid another visit to Sandbar at Newport Pier in Sunny Isles Beach, a place we make a point to visit at least once every year. The breathtaking ocean view, the refreshing ocean breeze, the sight of people swimming, and the waterfront high rises all contribute to the charm of this place. The food and spirits further enhance the overall experience. However, this time around, there were a few disappointments. Upon our arrival, we had to wait for several minutes to be seated by the host who was not there. Due to the lengthy wait, we decided to find a spot on the terrace ourselves, as most of the tables were available around noon. When we tried to order lunch, the server informed us that we needed to see the host first. I found this quite odd because we were still seated, but complied nonetheless. The server even told another customer, who had already ordered a beer from a different server, that he couldn’t sit at the table because he hadn’t seen the host first. This seemed rather strange, especially considering the host was not readily available. After resolving this “host issue”, we were finally able to place our order. Another disappointment was the downsized menu, which was now limited to a single page. I ordered coconut shrimp, guacamole, calamari, and a lobster roll to share with my wife. Except coconut shrimp which was fried a lot, others were good. In previous years, the menu offered a wider variety of delectable dishes, but this year it felt limited. I noticed that other tables were only ordering a starter and beer. In conclusion, I was not pleased with the new regulations and the limited menu, which will likely influence my decision to return to this restaurant.
This restaurant is like a burger and beer place, very basic food, they do have some other items on the menu like for example, ceviche, which we got, but I cannot recommend it. Just go with the basics. But don’t get the coleslaw, it’s one of the worst I’ve ever eaten. It’s a nice place to grab a beer! The views are absolutely stunning! But you should sit outside for that. We had a table outdoors at the end of the restaurant on the pier in the Floridian summer and the evening and it was not too hot because there was a constant breeze from the ocean. Keep in mind because it’s on the pier you have frequently people walking to and off the pier, which was fine cause it’s like people watching… The staff were friendly.
Great restaurant with a beautiful ocean view and good food. The service was slow, so be patient, but everything else was great!
Didn't have a long wait to sit outside. The view was amazing! The drinks came quickly and were good. Our waitress was attentive and accommodating. I ordered the ceviche which tasted a bit spicier than most ceviches I've had but was decent. The sushi roll ordered to the table was delicious! The side of fries were also hot and crispy. Would definitely go back here again.
The only issue I have the food listed below, all of them was not in the menu I had. There was not that much choice if you got more options put them in the menu. but overall nice place service was amazing view of the ocean make it super nice. The food was great. It's a yes for a come back.
Great service, great drinks, and great scenery. The restaurant attaches to the pier overlooking the ocean so you can go out for a nice stroll after eating. It would make a great date night spot! My only complaint is that my oysters had some shells in it from when they were cracked open, which wasn't pleasant to eat. The conch fritters and JB roll were delicious though. I got the coco loco drink and it was very strong but I really liked it. Overall, I had a great time.
Right in the heart of Sunny isles Beach at the pier you can experience variety of taste, nice drinks and atmosphere of vacations. Best tourist place to visit even if you are a resident of Sunny Isles. ⠀ I love having lunch there with glass of vine or just having drinks with friends. ⠀ This place has sushi and seafood and of course French fries for kids. Family friendly. ⠀ Watching seagulls and ocean makes me calm and relaxed. I appreciate the blessing of living in paradise where everyone is coming for vacations. ⠀ See you at the Pier for sunset drinks.
We had some really good food here with really great views! The only downside is that in the women’s restrooms, the stalls are “opaque” but you can see EVERYTHING in the other stall. I couldn’t seem to get out fast enough 😂
I was sat outside by the pier without a wait. I just wanted a drink and something to hold me over until dinner. I waited 7 minutes for a server to come get my drink order. I ordered the caprese at the same time. The Captain's Punch was just strong enough, and the caprese came out promptly with a thick vinegrette glaze drizzle that gave it just the right zing. Kind of pricey, at $36.53 with tip (that they pre-fill). But you are paying for the location, which is pretty freakin' awesome. 😉
the menu is quite extensive and the seafood is also fresh. You can see the fresh seafood laid out in the open kitchen and pick your peace if you choose. be forewarned. If you choose to dine here on a windy day, it is open air and some of the tables are not blocked by the building. This place is definitely about the outside seating and if there isn't any left the inside decor is very standard.
Our family loved this place, we thought it was ok. They all ordered sushi and really enjoyed it. We don't really like sushi so we decided to share the chicken sandwich. It was good but not great, the sauce that comes with it was delicious but spicy so keep that in mind. The portion of fries was quite small even for one person so that was a little disappointing. The bacon was soggy and not crispy Also they only had one waitress for the whole outside area on a very busy day so it was almost impossible to get our drinks refilled and ask for anything else we needed. She was great though, but obviously we didn't get many things we asked for on time. We may give this place another try probably on a not-so-busy day next time
unfortunately not possible "just to take a Coffee" ...For this they send me to a hotel close by but it wasn't operating and apparently under construction, same next door. That's very sad for such a privileged place.
The lobster roll was delicious, now for the negatives; service was sub par, pricey for the amount you actually get, I witnessed the bus boy sneeze in his hands three times in a row then not wash his hands and wipe his nose again. The only reason I ate my food was bc I ensured booger boy didn't touch it.
The view from the pier is the reason that people come to this place not the food. The fish, dip pictured here, was certainly worth $12. The cobb salad not so much. And the $25 shrimp cocktail? Not sure I'd buy it again. The attention from the wait staff was outstanding however. If you are on a big-budget, you should bring a picnic lunch out to the end of the fishing pier. It cost $2 per person to go on to the fishing pier. There are park benches in the middle of the fishing pier facing each way.
Watch the tips! 18% automatically included in your bill for a waiter that never actually checks on you. We didn't order any food, but we did have some drinks. It was definitely overpriced, but you're paying for the location. Cocktails must be free, because there's no prices on the menu. Come on in and pour as much as you want! LOL!! 🤣
Food was pretty meh. I feel as if it was over priced. Marg was $24 for what tasted like water and tequila. Probs won't come back but it's a cute spot.
The restaurant itself is pretty neat. You can’t beat sitting outside on the beach while enjoying a meal with your family. However, the service wasn’t very great. Our server was very sweet but kept forgetting everything. We ate our entire appetizer and still had no drinks, silverware, or napkins. Our service was pretty slow, the quickest I seen any employee move was when one of the guys working killed the roach that crawled up my dads leg. Overall, the food was okay, and I enjoyed sitting by the ocean. They also take out 20% for a tip which is higher than many of the other restaurants, but regardless, make sure you tip!
I’d say this was a pretty average place. The view from our table was amazing, but the food was okay. It was $78 for the seafood sampler, understandable as there was a ton of food on it. It was clear that the food was not fresh though. The shrimp tasted like the frozen shrimp I buy at the store back home. The fries were really good though. I would say go for the non-seafood items and it would be worth it.
We ordered guacamole and chips for $18. I asked if the guacamole was made fresh and was assured it was. It was not. We were given very few tortilla chips with the Guac and asked for more only to receive a small cup of extra chips for an additional $3. We had the fish tacos which were decent though. Service was just ok. Hard to get the waiter to stop by to check on us. Location is nice. This place is geared towards the once and done visit by a tourist. I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit for an overpriced lower quality meal.
Food was great! But be careful, they charge you a 20% charge before tip. I always tip 25% and did my first vist. Un knowingly tipping 45%. Food was good and I came back a second night when I noticed a 20% service charge. In my opinion this is a scam. Unfair to the consumer that has no choice but to pay the service charge. Shame on this establishment and its deceptive billing.
This review is only for the deep fried ice cream dessert. We found the dessert to have a fishy taste to it, due to same oil as used for the seafood? Not the traditional preparation for the ice cream to be coasted and then deep-fried in a ball, but rather a deep-fried "cup" with a scoop of ice cream.
Big portion, food is ok . I asked for baby pork ribs, and it was over cooked. Prices are ok for location. Service was the worst part . I sat on one of the bar tables, and one of the bartenders was a waitress too. I asked for everything to make order, napkins, check, to go boxes etc. I saw they care more when is a party of more than one person since they include the tip, and they care that you spend more money on food, so they can get bigger tip instead of giving a good service. Total of my food was $44.45 not bad with the gratuity they incluided.
Waited 30 minutes for food only to be told at the end that they were out of the item. Drinks were ok. Waitress was very rude and seemed to hate both her job and the patrons. Owner seems very professional and hopefully service will be better next time (I'm sure many people would LOVE to work in such a great location!).
The food presentation was so good, but the flavor was meh. They are over priced. I paid $16 for an over cooked hotdog and they charge $6 so a small cup of soda. The managers appeared friendly but my server wasn't really attentive. Overall I would not recommend this place.
Started with not so welcomed hostess. The waitress was nice and gave us a great service. We ordered the coconut shrimp with was so oily. Then we got fish tacos and steak tacos. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just tasted ok. Taco Bell taste better. For the location and type of restaurant, it should be much better. The portions are super small. Even ordering an appetizer and a main dish I felt like it was not enough food for the price. I would not recommend going back. You can go to any simple taco place and you’ll eat better there.
The dining experience at Sandbar left much to be desired. The portions were disappointingly small and significantly overpriced. Service was virtually nonexistent, and to add insult to injury, I was overcharged twice. The bill totaled over $100 for a single order of tacos, a soup, and two beers. When I inquired about the additional charges, management curtly informed me that a 22% fee is always added to the bill. We ended up staying for happy hour, but to my surprise, the prices weren't what the bartender initially told us when we started a new tab. The staff's rudeness was the final straw. I certainly won’t be returning. Definitivamente no volveré.
A true Let Down! We ordered our food. My wife ordered sushi, we received our food, ate most of it, no sushi. Turns out the Sushi guy went on a 1 hour break and no one knew! Our server never told us. So she ordered the fish tacos. Wife says they were Flavorless and the Presentation was terrible. Go somewhere else for the inflated prices and Super slow service.
Cocktails were good and service is quick, yet the menu is very basic, not too many options. The burger bun is the same you can get at a grocery store. Very basic. Presentation can be better. The guacamole was great, but the chips tasted stale. The wings taste pre-cooked. Honestly, the prior restaurant had better quality food and options.
My sister and I were looking for a seafood restaurant near our Hotel on the beach and after viewing the menu on line we chose the Sandbar pier restaurant Big mistake after we arrived we found that the menu and restaurant changed very disappointing mediocre menu offering burgers wings and fish tacos! We decided to give it a try since it offered mixed drinks and ocean view outdoor seating! I have to say worse burger I have ever had I had a couple bites and was done SMH my sister tried the buffalo wings which weren't tossed in sauce it came with a small container of sauce ugh and the coconut shrimp she said it was edible but only ate a couple and was done! Way over priced 165 for a couple of burgers, 8 wings ! Our server apologized for the menu and said they were renovating and will have a different menu in the future! Don't make the mistake we did!
We had lunch today.. we waited 20 minutes for the waiter to arrive, in the meantime we cleaned the table and went in 2 times to ask to at least be welcomed by the waiter. After 10 minutes he arrives and takes our order.. in the meantime where we were sitting there was too much wind and we moved the table and cleaned it because both waiters were in front of the computer laughing and joking. Notified of the table change, he brings us the drink.. and after 30 minutes the food arrives.. 1 hour for a non-existent service and an average meal. I also work in restaurants and I'm not used to writing reviews.. but here you just can't not review.. not to mention that it wasn't crowded at all. Non-existent service. I wanted to have the service charge removed (also because under 5 people by law it is not mandatory...) but then I let it run
The only good thing about this place is location and direct view of the ocean. The rest is needed a big improvement. The food was very average, too salty and chicken that I ordered was not cooked through and had a pink meat inside that is very dangerous. The ugly part started when we were checking out. We had a 25% discount from the hotel that we stayed at and we asked to apply the discount to our bill. The waitress told us that she forgot to apply the discount and we asked to speak with manager. The manager by the name of Julia came to our table and was very very rude and verbally abusive. She pretty much told us that she doesn’t care what we think and she can decide on her own to whom she wants to give discount or not. When my husband said that we will post review they may not like she said that she care less about reviews and left our table slamming the door on n front of our faces. I hope this review gets to the owner of this place and they will retrain their employees on costumer service.
Terrible and overpriced, low quality of drinks. I will not come back or recommend, even though it is a great location.
I need to update my review. As of 1/18/2026 this place has completely updated their menu. It's no longer a wonderful place with delicious food. We walked in and the hostess handed us a menu with only 3 options on it, Turkey club, chicken tenders and a burger! He said it's a sushi bar too but the bar is closed. WHAT A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT! Such a wonderful location for mediocre food. I don't know who thought this change was a good idea but they are terribly wrong. OLD REVIEW BELOW We absolutely loved it here, what an amazing experience. Delicious food on the beach with a stunning view! Made for such wonderful memories thank you!
With the new owner this place went down hill. Ordered ribs and got leather. Not kidding … this place is horrible and totally overpriced … since the ribs were so bad, I got a mediocre bacon cheeseburger that cost $25.Not worth it! I don’t recommend this place!
Great views and the hostess was great, other than those everything else was terrible. The server sat at the bar nearly the entire time we were there playing on her phone and didn't bring us our check until we asked someone to let her know we were waiting. As she dropped off the check she reminded us why she was such an inattentive server saying, "the tip is included". She didn't bother to ask why neither of us ate more than half of our food. About the food, in a word, disgusting. The burger had bacon that looked as if it was cooked on two different days. The Cuban was even worse as you can see in the picture. The drinks from the bar were as bad as the food. The ONLY reason to dine here is the view.
Going to give a 1 star just because of one person who the corporate hired and she is not professional.. she got hired as a manager while she has no idea what it is. I’ve been managing restaurants and had a chain of restaurants so I know what it is to be a good person on behalf of the owners. She seems to be very unconfident in herself to do not approach people straight but being weak and ready to call the police haha It’s funny In any case, bartenders and one manager guy are great people, not sure why the woman was hired, she needs to run the diner not a bar at the beach. Cannot recommend however would be a wonderful place if that woman manager be out of there
Don't order the lemonade I found ants in mine. Do not order a smoked Ceaser Salad, literally use 0 green leaves all white core pieces horrible. The chicken strips were tough, the only thing that was somewhat good were the fries. Your manager and chef were extremely rude.
