Opinions de Bolivar Restaurant Bar Miami
My first visit to Miami was made unforgettable by Bolivar! It was the first restaurant we tried, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We literally got a little bit of everything to try, and I was "yumming" all the way, especially the tapas and appetizers — they were incredible! The food was delicious, prepared with care, and the drinks were on another level. The restaurant’s decor created an atmosphere that was truly out of this world. Juan Carlos treated us so kindly, and we’re definitely coming back. Highly recommend
I was at the Colombia game with my husband, and the Colombian food was the best! The staff and the girl in white call Pao were very beautiful and attentive! Highly recommended! 💯
I loved it. At first it was not busy, then suddenly everyone started coming in and had a full restaurant. The service was amazing, great attitude you could tell it was busy but that didn't stop them from smiling. It was a great team. We celebrated my husband's birthday and it was amazing. Food was good from appetizers to dessert. The atmosphere was great, from decor to music 🎶. Very affordable. Clean restaurant.
We went there twice within two days stay in Miami Beach. We found that on our first day and we had a wonderful lunch. They have many options and the one that got a hold of us were the typical dishes from south America countries. It's going to be on my pictures for sure. Good service, excellent food and fair price.
Great vibe to draw you in and feel welcomed. Maria and company was a delight. The food was gorgeous visually and just as flavorsome. Columbian food that brings you into their culture with their authentic food, ingredients and style!
An amazing experience in South Beach. Authentic Columbian fare with a modern flare in a hip setting. The food here was spectacular and we had incredible service from so many of the staff. Drinks were creative and delicious. I am so glad we took a chance on this little establishment.
Absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, clean, and beautiful ceviche. We got the Ceviche Shots, which were one of the best things I have ever eaten. The arepas were out of this world. And every other dish was a treat!! The sangria had freshly cut fruit, and was refreshing (and strong!) the cocktails are amazing. The bartender and server Mabel is my favorite person I have ever met in Miami. Despite our language barrier she is informative, accommodating, and an absolute gem. We LOVE Bolivar, and Mabel is phenomenal. Don’t skip Bolivar!!!
This restaurant is a must when visiting Miami! We visited this when looking for ideas online and we were glad that we stumbled upon this online? Food was great and portions were really generous for price in Miami. Some of the best value! The service was over he top also. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and the waitress gave us an appetizer on the house and a shot of Aguardiente on the house. They had a big celebration for my wife as well! Must go here. Thank you for the best service!
Today we found the best Colombian food that we could ever had. This restaurant deserves more than five stars. Since the moment we entered we were delighted by the decoration, I can imagine how beautiful this place would look like in the evening. Our server Miguel was very profesional and polite. I don’t think I can do it any justice trying to describe the food here, but let me start by saying they do have a wonderful presentation, the dishes are very artistic, and the flavors are outstanding. We tried the Sancochos, Lomito Saltado and the Bandeja Paisa, a couple of delicious limonada and a glass of classy sangria. Everything was delicious. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and come here, you won’t be disappointed.
I’ve eaten here twice and both times were amazing. The food is SO good and I love that they have Colombian beer. I went on a very slow day and the service was not worth the expensive service charge. I was surprised our server Sanyi even asked us to leave a review because she didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. We never received water and it took a while for her to come ask for our drinks, even though there were only 2 tables. I’ll still go back because of the food. So congrats to the chef and cooks.
We didn't get the full experience, but we came here on a walking food tour and tried a couple of things. They were all very delicious. It also came with some juice with or without alcohol and it was so tasty. I absolutely love the big mirror they have in the front of the restaurant. It is a must spot to take a quick picture. I would love to come back and try more of their foods and different drinks they offer at the bar.
We went to Bolivar Restaurant Bar to watch the Copa América, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was lively, and the owner was very welcoming. The beer selection was excellent, and despite the place being busy, the servers ensured we were well taken care of. Overall great experience
We ate lunch here served by very helpful Sanyi who guided us through the full but simply laid out menu. At lunch they have specials and beer/wine for $4. We enjoyed the area blanco with pulled chicken (a little crispy on the base and served with three delicious sauces), a shrimp salad and cazuela Pacifico (a creamy seafood stew with fish, shrimp, calamari, mussels) with rice. The passion fruit topped custard for dessert was amazingly smooth with the right amount of tartness. While it was quiet at lunchtime, there is a long bar, small dance floor near the band's setup and it is well decorated. Recommended.
Fabulous food. Hidden gem in South Beach. We walked over from Joe's Stone Crab after being told we had t wait 2 hours for a table. We were surprised to see the place quite empty after seeing good reviews. We ordered the choice 7 tapas platter and were surprised by the generous amount and the waiter recommended the Pescadores Margarita and a bowl of Creamy Shrimp and corn chowder. The dishes were absolutely delicious. The corn chowder was an experience different from new England clam chowder and is a must to start. The tapas platter gave you a chance to try a good selection of their extensive tapas. The pork belly and garlic shrimp was good. The fish came in a creamy sauce which was delicious. Highly recommended and off the over crowded and over rated restaurant on Ocean Drive.
Started off with the ceviche sampler of 6 shots and was surprised about how much seafood they packed into each glass!! Such a great way to try a variety. Enjoyed the empanadas, but what really made it was the sauces that came on the side. Put that on everything!! Also got the Bandeja Paisa, which is a great assortment of different meats, rice, eggs, avocado, beans, all on one amazing plate. Come here hungry!!
It is a great place for take a dinner! Since we landed at Miami International Airport and finally got our car, on the way to South Beach we were looking at some good place for dinning. And I am so glad we found this place! We has been greeted by smiling man. Due to COVID-19 the best available for us option was dining out on “patio”. Well, it is better then nothing and definitely better then take out. Our server’s name is Paula. She answered all our questions and recommended the best food we could chose. I don’t remember exactly the name of the foods but, really , the food was delicious 🤤 it is been a long time when I drunk so delicious mojito. We had a great experience overall , recommend this place
Awesome food! The presentation is everything! Definitely will come back next time I’ll be in south beach! Affordable prices and out server was the best!!! Love it, love it, love it!💗 if you’re ever in the neighborhood, please try this great place
Miguel was the best server ever! I have no idea why this place wasn't packed, my family and I were one of the few tables there for dinner for some reason. The food was so fresh and delicious, we had a variety of foods ranging from steak to ceviche and it was some of the best food (if not THE best food) we had since arriving in Florida. We would have come back if we had more time in the area, but unfortunately we only found out about this place right before leaving!
I love coming to eat at this place the food its delicious they make everything so good i have tried almost the whole menu and Maria Camila makes the best Margaritas in the city. Besides that they have an amazing full bar so nice atmosphere and fun music. Thanks guys ill be back soon
Beyond impressed with how delicious the food was. I normally do not order appetizers but the menu looked enticing. Completely worth every penny. For the main meal, I got the the churrsco(spelling it wrong, haha) Absolutely one of the best steaks I've ever had. Service is good, but the food is amazing.
The food was wonderful and was only surpasses by the wait staff, and in particular our waitress. She was friendly, was there for us at the right times. We had the Empanadas for an appetizer and I had the Pabellon Sifrino for the main course. Both were delicious. The cost was moderate, not at all bad given the neighborhood.
They gave us a free complementary appetizer which was super good. I wish I remembered what it was called, but is one of the photos I posted. Besides the appetizer, everything else was just as good! Plus the staff was super friendly and helpful, which for me is always the best part of my dining experience. 😃
Bolívar represents our Colombian cuisine in a elegant way and the best Caribbean style. The service, lead by the owner, makes it welcoming and friendly that complement the atmosphere with the music that invites you to enjoy the spectacular nights in South Beach.
My wife and I decided to head into the city around 10pm on a Sunday night and everything was closing soon. After walking around for 10 minutes we ran into this Colombian restaurant. It was an unexpected treat. The food, drinks, and service was amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for great Colombian food.
Shout out to Eugenia who made excellent recommendations and was so amazing. She really made this an experience to remember. The food was delicious(try the Parce Viche you won’t regret it) and whoever is playing the music has such a good playlist. Definitely come out here if you’re in the area.
This is a cozy little spot just off Ocean Drive. We walked in on a normal week night so it was a quiet affair. The service is very friendly and the food is super delicious. Portions are generous and overall it's a good vibe. This place looks like it can get super busy and towards the back it looks like a spot where liver performances happen. It's been a positive experience and I'd come back again without a second thought.
This place does not disappoint. Food is amazing, vibe was great and service was wonderful. Serving South American food from a variety of countries so take a journey with your taste buds! I usually avoid alot of places in SOBE feeling that they are overpriced & mainly tourist attractions. Bolivar definitely isn't that! Few blocks away from the beach and totally worth the quick detour.
First time in Miami, first time in Bolivarc first time trying Mojarra. I wish I had one more day so I could come back and eat it again. I travel the country for work and routinely eat at some of the best restaurants in the US. This mojarra at Bolivar is one of the top three meals I’ve had in recent memory. It’s likely *the* best but im giving myself some wiggle room In case I forgot something. If I return to Miami this is my first stop for dinner.
The 6-piece shots of Ceviche was incredible! Amazing flavors at an affordable price! Do not go to Ceviche 105, come here! It’s Colombian food with dishes from all over Latin America so it’s a lovely fusion. Will definitely be coming back!
Br3h honestly, music environments these days have been getting me frustrated-- despite being with rambunctious relatives, my New Year's Eve was not spent dodging a DJ's attention. I was able to keep to myself and enjoy time with my dear younger sister (21 this year.) We all had some drinks, some "Picadera" and our talkative relatives were able to be themselves, ( ´・_ゝ・), lol I love South Beach. I'll update soon with some pics of our multiple 'Bandeja Paisa'.
Love this place! Hands down, I enjoyed one of the best drinks I've ever had, can't remember the name of it but it had watermelon puree in it. The Pollo Andino dish was also to die for, plus the staff was amazing. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was lively, festive, and fun too!
Stopped in for a drink and found it to a be a very stylish bar/restaurant with a stage for weekly live music. The Colombian theme is all over the bar without being overbearing and overall is a great atmosphere. We tried a few different drinks and found them all to be very tasty, and the service was great! Did not get a chance to try any food but based on the menu everything sounds really good. Will absolutely be back for food in the future!
This was the first place we went to eat & the food was impeccable letting every taste bud dance to its flavor. Miguel took care of his with his rich, deep voice describing the cocktail and dinner menu. We got the Agua de Florero (Rum, Vodka, Gin, Tequila & Triple sec Combined with an strawberry, lime & mint syrup) which was beautifully ornate with flowers in a tall vase like glass. Then we enjoyed Ceviche Bolivar, shrimps marinated in an exotic citrus lulo juice served with yuca fries along with the Bandeja Paisa, a traditional colombian platter of char-grilled steak, crispy pork belly, caramelized plantains, red beans, fried egg, rice and grilled arepa (made from corn). Three sauces ranging from very spicy to mild were also brought out. It was the perfect first dining experience coming into the town & we will be returning! 💕
My daughter and I had the most delicious food at Bolivar Restaurant in our recent visit to Miami. Our server was Juan and he was very attentive and courteous. Every dish we tasted was an explosion of flavor! We ordered the shrimp with garlic butter entree, and the corn pancake and octopus appetizers. Juan even gave us several treats on the house. Not only do I give 5 stars, but a Michelin Star if I could! ;) Kudos to their Chef! This place is on my highest recommendation of Miami Beach restaurants.
Delicious food and the staff made you feel they've been waiting for you to show up. Sabrina is a wonderful wait staff. This was my first time eating here and she answered all of my curious questions and gave me her opinion on what to try. I will definitely come back when I'm in Miami
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The restaurant itself is beautiful with art and Colombian decor covering the walls. The food and drinks are incredible and taste like my family's cooking - and the ceviche is out of this world! Perhaps even more importantly, every staff member that we came in contact with was kind and had a smile on their face. Andrea, in particular, single-handedly made our experience wonderful. I would go back solely to say hi to her!
I stopped by on July 4th before heading to the airport. I loved their happy hour specials. The service was good and the waitresses made awesome recommendations. I had the shrimp and corn chowder which was absolutey delicious. It came in a bigger bowl than expected so I didn't have space for anything else. I'd revisit any time I'm in town.
Bolivar was a treat during our recent visit. I dream about the food and the mojito was the absolute best we have ever had! We had a wide array of food. The pollo andino was so good and the combo dish my husband had was delicious as well! We sat outside and had a wonderful time. Everything was fresh and prepared beautifully. The staff was knowledgeable and super kind. I cannot wait to go back!
My family and I visited Bolivar for the second time and it was as delicious as it was the first time. Miguel Ángel, our server, was very helpful with the menu! Everything we chose was beyond tasty from the pollo andino to salmon manuelita to mariscos criollo-ajillo. The mojitos are the best in town in our opinion and to top it off, we had the cuatro leches cake which was absolutely decadent.
We came here on a Sunday night, only 3-4 tables of people and manager had to stand in front the restaurant to grab some business. The prices has gone up and portion has gone down compare to some menu photos from a few month ago. For example the combo plate by choice drop from 7 items to 6. Overall food tasted great, full of flavor, freshly made. Service was average, nothing special, as they default to 18% service charge pre tax.
Best part of this place was the ambience, you got to give them that. They have meticulously tried to maintain the Colombian atmosphere inside and the decor inside is pretty authentic. I was there during the World Cup so they’re playing the game but we went in around afternoon so the place was totally empty we were the only ones dining there. The service is really nice, but it’s a little bit on the pricier side to be aware of that. Also the serving sizes a little smaller. But the food taste is amazing and they serve it real fancy. They explain to you what the food is and how to eat it which is great. One thing I did not like at the end they showed the service charge was included which was the same amount as the tip so I was confused if I should also give a tip. We ordered the crab cake which was yummy as hell, then we did order two more Colombian dishes which were amazing. The steak was real well cooked and sliced exactly the way I like it and I loved the fried pineapple on the side. Give them a try and I can totally tell that they would get really busy during peak hours like evenings. Their bar looked amazing!
This place is small but nicely decorated which have it a good ambience. Our waitress was great. The plates of food are large (see picture) and it was tasty. The mango mojito was delicious and for me the best thing that I had there. We started with the empanadas which were delicious. They are made of corn and we tried the beef and chicken. You can also get cheese if you want. My husband had el Plato Paisano and added the chorizo for an extra fee (usually not an add on at other restaurants). He said his plate was very good except for the rice and as I said earlier they give a lot of food. If I had known that we would’ve shared. I got the churrasco which was good but for me a little greasy. That came with fries and salad - neither of which I wanted. When I asked to switch that out for yucca fries they said I would have to order a separate side. So I ended up ordering a separate side. They still brought me the fries and salad because it came with the plate but I didn’t eat it which was a waste of food. I asked for water and they brought us a bottle of Evian which was a separate charge but never asked if I wanted bottle or tap. So in all I gave a 4 star rating. We ended up paying $152 because there’s an automatic tip which is normal in Miami Beach.
This place was cool I like the music and the place is cute Maria Camila was our server she was awesome ! The salsa that was played was a little slow I wanted to dance with spins but it's hard to do with the slower salsa they changed to regeton and that was fun would definitely come back food was good
Kind of difficult to notice from the street but the inside is nice looking. The food was pretty fufilling and tasty. Only thing I didn't like about this place how expensive it ended up being, and tip was already charged on bill. Would recommend this place, but only if you're willing on spending a lotta $$ for average food and a bit lower than average service
We had a nice dinner at Bolivar recently. We went on a Monday night. It was not busy at all. I was able to make a reservation on Yelp but it wasn’t needed. It is always nice to know that is an option. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was very tasty. The meat was tender, the fries weren’t too soggy and there was sufficient rice. My friend got the Bandeja paisa and he enjoyed it. Everyone loved their meal and drinks.
Very good. Caipareña was amazing. Empanadas were very tasty as were the accompanying sauces. The ceviche was very well composed, I ended up eating almost the entire place myself. My only complaints was that the egg on my dish was overcooked and the mojito was too sweet for my taste. I would definitely go back.
We had a feast here! There weren’t a lot of people here for lunch on a Sunday, we were almost the only outdoor table. But they had great music and very hospitable and knowledgeable staff who really cares about the food. We are not too familiar with Colombian food so we wanted to try a little of everything. We ordered 6 shots of ceviche. They are presented on two sides of the plate, one side is citrus flavored and one is fruit flavored. The fruit flavored ceviches are especially interesting — with mango, passion fruit, and lulo (I think that’s what it’s called). Though the flavors are not bad, we thought the seafood wasn’t fresh enough for ceviche. Our server highly recommended fried plantain to go with the ceviche shots. I originally thought it comes with the ceviche, but it’s extra. My bf really liked the subtle sweetness the fried plantain had. Out of all the food we ordered, empanadas and blood sausage gave us the best impressions. Their empanadas are not stuffed with all meat like we are used to, but a mixture of some root veggies and the protein. The pulled beef empanadas are juicier than pulled chicken. And we like it’s crust a lot. It has a pleasant cornmeal taste. The blood sausage resembles of that from Korean cuisine, but smokier. The cumin seasoning really stood out to us, giving the sausage a great layer of flavor. Drinks are great here. We had a couple of Colombian handcraft cocktails here and shots of aguardiente. Overall I’d recommend coming here with a big party!
It was pretty empty when we went, but there was live singer that was giving it her all even though it was just us and a few other tables. She made our time here worth it! The arepa was really dry...not sure if it's supposed to be like that, but not a fan. A smaller piece came with my meal too so I think it's just supposed to be like that. Would not get it again as an appetizer. I was hoping it'd be more softer and a bit sweeter, but it was dry and hard. For drinks, I got the Saudade which was super spicy! Really liked this, but not for the faint of heart. Definitely more heat than sweet. For our meal, we got the Bandeja Paisa and Pabellon Sifrino. The entrees were delish! A good amount of food and very flavorful. Good presentation too!
On a Sunday night, this was one of the only spots still open for dinner so we popped in. The restaurant had the vibe of a club but it was very quiet. The drinks were good, as well as the ceviche and empanadas. As our only dine in experience in Miami, it felt way overpriced for the food we got but that may have just been South Beach.
Apollo Lomo Saltado was tasty, a bit on the salty side. A bit like a typical generic tourist restaurant in south beach — service was inattentive and had trouble understanding english — added extra cheese to a dish we didn’t ask for as well. In addition, the Happy Hour discount was included after tax, which added to a less than average experience.
Food is amazing but...The shrimp cream soup comes without a side, no rice, no bread. Bandeja Paisa came without Avocado and that's a CRIME!!!. I have to admit they have the best Chicharrón I have ever tried but definitely not worth of slow service. Water costs 9$ a coke is cheaper at 4$. Service is very slow!!! We got hot sauce we asked for after our food was finished. BTW, they charge 25% tip and some special fee for Christmas...
I came on a Monday night and The fact that this place has such great location and it's still empty should've been the biggest red but I decided to trust the reviews and my friends and I still walked in. We sat ourselves because since the place was empty and there was nobody at the front door. We ordered everything at once, Drinks took 20minutes, the girl was really friendly but 20minutes for 1 mojito, 1 Martini and 1 cocktail? Only three cocktails and the place was literally empty (except for a couple sitting at the bar) She was looking at recipes and drinks weren't even good after all that. Food came out before the drinks, tequeños were cool at that point (not really good tequeños either), patscones were ok on flavor, same as the empanadas, we ordered bandeja paisa with chicken and they gave us beef instead, we worried it would take another 20 minutes so we just ate it. 18%grat is included, and I understand this is south beach, but for that grat would expect at least good service and good food, their food it's not even that cheap for what they serve. Their website said had a "special" for Oct 6th Monday when we came, we asked the girl what was the "$5 Happy shot" they had in special, she wasn't sure about the answer and then she said it was only after 12am when the website clearly says *ALL NIGHT*
We’re from NYC and stopped by on a Thursday night to try the food. Unfortunately, the bartender/server, Cata, appeared to be drunk and treated me with disrespect when I had to request the check four times. She even commented that it was “sad” for me, as a Latino, to have to deal with someone like me. From the moment we arrived, she was rude. It’s a shame for the restaurant to have someone like her representing it—management should seriously reconsider who they have working on Thursday nights. I didn’t want to tip her but it was included. So sad
This place is no longer a Colombian restaurant as of Jan 1st very disappointed it turned into just another taco place.
We were excited to try Colombian food for the first time, and the food itself was really delicious. However, why did we have to pay both “the Miami Beach tax” and the “Florida state tax”? There was already an 18% service charge included, and on top of that, we also left a 15% tip. The server should have told us that tipping wasn’t necessary, but they still accepted it. It felt like a total rip-off. Don’t go there! My local friend told me that they definitely overcharged us just because we’re tourists.
