Opinions de El Cielo Miami Miami
El Cielo offers one of the most memorable Michelin dining experiences in Miami, blending modern Colombian cuisine with a creative, sensory-driven tasting menu. The restaurant is intimate and beautifully designed, and the service is warm, polished, and attentive from the moment you walk in. The tasting menu is the highlight here and the 18 course experience is thoughtfully presented, balancing technique with flavors and utilizing different temperatures and textures. Signature moments like the chocotherapy (a dish where you lick chocolate from your fingers), the interactive “Tree of Life” bread service, crunchy stone crab empanadas, "Lulo" dessert and "Rose Petals" add a playful, immersive touch without feeling gimmicky. Dishes throughout the meal showcase traditional Colombian dishes, clean flavors and beautiful plating. The pacing is smooth and efficient (approximately 1.5 hours for the whole experience), and the staff does an excellent job explaining each course and its inspiration. Wine pairings are also available along with non-alcoholic beverages if you prefer something lighter. While the experience is definitely on the higher end, the quality, creativity, and hospitality make it feel special and worth the occasion. El Cielo is a great choice for anyone looking for a unique, thoughtful, and beautifully executed tasting menu in Miami. Note this restaurant is also on the InKind which is helpful to offset some of the cost.
We visited last year for our anniversary, and there were some truly impressive moments. The presentation of the dishes is elaborate and visually stunning, clearly inspired by Colombian flavors and culture. Each plate is thoughtfully crafted, creating a sensory experience where you interact with the food and learn the story behind its inspiration. For our anniversary, they even added a heart shaped detail dessert, which was a lovely personal touch. We especially enjoyed the presentation of coffee, it was beautiful immersive way to connect with my culture. That said, we had also been to the Bogotá location, and the flavors there felt more pronounced and enjoyable. While the dishes are beautifully presented at both locations, the taste doesn’t always match the creativity on the plate. The atmosphere in both restaurants can feel a bit bland compared to the visual experience. Overall, it’s a very, very nice experience, but given the price, it doesn’t quite live up to the full value you might expect.
Elcielo is an extraordinary experience — Colombian cuisine reimagined through art, science, and soul. Every course of the tasting menu feels like a story, blending authenticity with creativity in the most elegant way. The presentation is impeccable, the flavors rich yet balanced, and the service beautifully orchestrated. It’s not just dinner — it’s a sensory journey that celebrates culture and craft. An elegant, immersive restaurant made for true food lovers — refined, emotional, and unforgettable.
I had an amazing time and the food was as great as I expected. Will definitely go again. Hard to describe, definitely something that must be experienced.
I celebrated my birthday at El Cielo, and it was an unforgettable experience. The evening was filled with creativity and surprises, including a delightful birthday drink served in the table’s flower vase. Each course carried a unique and meaningful concept, and the food itself was absolutely incredible, showcasing exceptional culinary artistry. The ambiance was elegant and immersive, while the service and attention to detail were truly out of this world.
I had the pleasure of dining at Elcielo, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. The food was nothing short of exquisite, with every dish bursting with flavor and creativity. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel truly special throughout our meal. I left the restaurant with a full heart and a satisfied palate, and I can confidently say that I will be returning for another unforgettable evening. Highly recommended!
Elcielo completely blew me away. We did the tasting experience, and it was unlike anything I’ve ever had—an immersive, multi-sensory journey that engages more than just your taste buds. From finger foods to licking plates to getting your hands dirty, every course was creative, playful, and incredibly well-executed. There wasn’t a single dish I didn’t enjoy, but the lamb in particular was absolutely unforgettable—the best I’ve ever had. The attention to flavor, presentation, and pacing was spot on. Service was excellent from start to finish, and I have to shout out the lemongrass old fashioned—it was perfectly balanced and one of the highlights of the night.
Husband and I went here in April for our anniversary. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. I'll start right off with the only negative - the wine pairing is not worth the money. The portions are small and the wines were nothing exceptional. In hindsight we would have been better off buying a couple nice bottles of wine. The paring was overpriced IMO. Now on to the food. The service and food were outstanding. We have been to Michelin 1, 2, and 3 restaurants in and outside of the US. This was definitely in the top of some of our experiences. Elcielo did a great job of creating dishes that awaken all the senses in a unique way and not gimmicky. The taste, smell and visual presentation of the courses were exceptional. The "touch" part of the experience was unexpected. We were asked to eat melted chocolate with our hands. It was a lot of fun! The portion sizes were perfect. It can be intimidating to approach SO many courses but they were small enough to where we could try a lot of different things and not feel gluttonous and too overstuffed by the end. Definitely a great culinary experience and if you can afford the tasting menu for a special occasion, it will be a treat you won't forget!
Elcielo was outstanding! The experience, the food, service. We loved every part of it, especially the hands on experience with the chocolate!
The chocotherapy was a blast and a unique experience. There was a lot of food but the team there was so generous and explicit in their food descriptions and proud of its and their origin. I think it’s a great cultural immersion as well as a dining experience.
Not only does this restaurant have great food, but "The Experience" menu provides a one-of-a-kind experience of fun participation and sensory involvement. The service and pacing is excellent, similar to that of other Michelin starred restaurants. I feel that this menu deserves at least 2 michelin stars because of the interactive creativity. The cocktail pairing was also impressive. If you decide to do this experience, be sure to allow yourself to relax and have fun.
Elcielo Miami offers a dining experience that is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the stage for a culinary journey that delights all the senses. Each course is not only a feast for the palate but also for the eyes, with beautiful plating that elevates the overall experience. The presentation of each dish is thoughtfully crafted, making the meal feel like an art form. The flavors are vibrant and complex, with each bite offering a burst of sensations that showcase the chef's skill and creativity. The wine pairing is impeccable, enhancing the flavors of the dishes and complementing the overall meal perfectly. Service at Elcielo is truly exceptional. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of your dining experience is flawless. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a night out, Elcielo Miami delivers an unforgettable experience that will leave you eager to return.
What an experience! That’s not only a meal with a Micheli star, it’s an amazing experience. Food was delicious, we loved everything. Service was amazing, servers were around all the time. They brought our dishes right perfectly timed. The chocolate therapy is a nice experience in the middle of the meal. I loved all the explanations and reference from Colombian traditional food. The tasting manu has plenty of small dishes that you feel satisfied at the end.
10/10 dining experience from start to finish. They knew who we were from the moment we arrived, greeted us warmly, and seated us promptly. From that moment on we didn’t have to ask for, reach for, or want for anything! So much attention to detail and endless amounts of creativity in the food and presentation. Well deserving of their Michelin star!
This is a Colombian high class restaurant. The experience was fabulous, staff is very professional and everything is done in style. All dishes served at the same time so sometimes you have 2 servers and at times 4 depending on the amount of people in your group. Each dish is small and each one has a story. It's a classy show with great food and drinks. Use the Vale parking for $9, it's worth it and gives you time to take pictures by the river. This is not your typical high class restaurant, this is Colombia with a style and great performance by the servers.
The experience, the drinks - can be perceived as expensive. If you go here, you expect to spend money. After trying other “Michelin Star” restaurants - this was our favorite, some of the best food, and experience we’ve ever had. I prefer to eat in a quiet atmosphere, it was romantic and calm. They bring out the dishes fast, and yes - they are small. This is a food “tasting”, but after 18 items - we were stuffed. They were very attentive, answered any questions, and explained every dish. Only issue was - you can’t repeat. Every dish that came out, surprised us more. Not every dish is perfect, but for the experience - it was worth it.
We felt so well taken care of—our server Pedro and Diego had such a kind and positive attitude.” • “It really felt like our Server cared about our experience—thank you!” • “They made our celebration even more special—so grateful for the amazing service.”
Elcielo Miami delivers a dining experience that feels more like a sensory journey than a traditional meal. Each course is introduced with intention, blending Colombian heritage with modern technique. Flavors move from bright and tropical to deep and comforting, always tied to memory and cultural roots. The “Chocotherapy” moment stands out—not just for its playfulness but for the way it ties emotion to food. Service is warm and expressive, with staff who genuinely enjoy guiding guests through the experience. The atmosphere is intimate, dimly lit, and centered around the storytelling of the dishes. This restaurant succeeds not only in technique but in creating an emotional narrative. A truly unforgettable five-star experience.
I recently visited Elcielo restaurant, which offers high Colombian cuisine. The atmosphere and service were outstanding. The dishes were unusual and exquisite, presented as a true art form and show. The complimentary chocolate hand wrapping was a delightful surprise. Highly recommended! I live nearby and had no idea about this amazing restaurant.
Overall a fantastic Michelin experience. My partner and I have dined at a few Michelin star restaurants around the world (in San Francisco, Toronto, and Barcelona), and for our trip to Miami we intentionally sought out Elcielo to get to experience Columbian-inspired dishes. It was great to experience Columbian food in a fine dining setting with a creative twist brought to the dishes. For instance, the tasting menu included a course where we got to eat melted chocolate with our hands (chocotherapy), and another course titled 'lick me' which involved licking a plate with no utensils. Staff were also incredibly friendly and explained each dish well.
The food was amazing. It’s 18 courses of the Columbian experience. This is a rather unique setting because it’s very fast paced. They bring the food quickly and the waiters they kind of watch you eat because they need to time everything so if you’re looking for something where that’s no pressure and you can hang out. This is not it. This is more for an experience. You valet park at one of the residential buildings in front of you and then you have to walk down the sidewalk which is not covered so if it’s raining, you need an umbrella. It’s on the Miami riverfront so it’s pretty cute and then you’re only a few blocks away from Brickell city Center, which is where we went to afterwards.
**El Cielo Miami - A Culinary Masterpiece!** Having first experienced El Cielo in Bogotá and again in Medellín, I was eager to introduce my parents to Juan Manuel’s extraordinary culinary vision at their downtown Miami location. The "La Experiencia" was nothing short of incredible. I've dined at some of the world's finest restaurants, including those by Thomas Keller, Heinz Beck, Gonzalo Aramburu, and Tomás Treschanski, yet El Cielo stands out as my absolute favorite. The innovative dishes, impeccable service, and stunning ambiance create an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to indulge in a culinary masterpiece.
If I could give them 10 starts I would. The food was delicious we did the experience with wine pairing. honestly I can not tell you which plate was my favorite because they were all spectacular. The service was amazing, the way the explained each plate was awesome. The ambiance was perfect. I will 100% recommended to all my foodies out there its a very unique Colombian Modern cuisine experience. Below are only a few pictures of their amazing food.
The most creative culinary experience I have ever been to. I went for the experience and paired it with the wine tasting. You must do the FULL wine tasting. The food and story line is phenomenal. The tree of life and its narrative was my favorite! Washing your hands with chocolate, unforgettable. The flavors of the macaroon were perfect. Staff were so kind, relatable, and efficient. Overall marvelous experience!
Great experience. Amazed by the creativity of the chef to transform and present Colombian food. 2nd time visiting the restaurant and enjoying "The Experience" tasting menu. The only not so positive feedback I would have is that in one of the courses "Seafood Cazuela" my wife didn't get all the ingredients (Calamari). When we mentioned to the waitress, he spoke to the Chef and brought just the piece of calamari after my wife had finished the course, instead of serving the dish with all the ingredients on it. Overall we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the testing menu!
Extraordinary dinning experience. You must bring an appetite and plan to spend a couple of hours to truly enjoy the experience. The service is top notch, very private location, offering some of the best tasting cuisine in SoFla. You must make reservations The food is prepared with the upmost care and top quality ingredients . The cooking techniques ensure a mouth watering experience in every bite, the beautiful presentation, and aroma are incredible and difficult to describe. Ask for the old fashion, we did not get to try it but it is definitely worth it. It is definitely one the best restaurants in Miami worth it!!!
Wow! Attention to such detail with each bite, with each presentation. The glasses, the cocktails, the mocktails, the plates and the pedestals—they thought through everything with such care and creativity and presented each dish with grace and professionalism execution. It was a visceral experience for every sense and every texture and flavor. Pedro, our server, was truly caring and proud of his heritage and his country’s cuisine. Diego and Chef Leidy knocked it out of the park!
It’s a perfect place for a special celebration. We celebrated our anniversary and that covered our table with rose petals, which I think was a nice detail. The “experiences”, or dishes are very tiny portions of food or drinks, so don’t expect to fill up with just one thing. The staff is very friendly, professional, and they explain each step very carefully. It’s a little overpriced but, like I said, it’s perfect for a special occasion.
Wow what an experience! I was worried because of some of the negative reviews I read, but rest assured that you will be well taken care off, everyone was really nice and respectful! All of the food in the “experience” was amazing, the people that complain of not having Items “a la carte” should go to another type of restaurant, the experience takes about 3 hours so be ready to sit down and enjoy your food, they also have a bar option with some menu items which is faster in case you don’t have time, thank you everyone for making my anniversary so special!
Wow. Best dining experience ever!! Had amazing service from entire staff. We got to meet the chef. Food was tasty and rich in flavors. Recommend this restaurant to everyone.
A Symphony of Colombian Elegance Nestled along the Miami River in Brickell, Elcielo Miami offers an immersive dining experience that artfully marries Colombia's rich culinary heritage with avant-garde techniques. The tasting menu unfolds as a series of meticulously crafted "moments," each designed to engage the senses and evoke emotion. Signature elements like the "Tree of Life" yuca bread and the indulgent "chocotherapy" hand-washing ritual transcend traditional dining, inviting guests into a narrative that is both deeply personal and profoundly Colombian. The ambiance is a harmonious blend of modern sophistication and warm hospitality, reflecting the essence of Colombia's vibrant culture. For those seeking a dining journey that transcends the ordinary, Elcielo Miami stands as a testament to culinary artistry and cultural pride.
This is a dinning experience. We did the 18 courses and loved the experience. Can not go wrong with Michelin Star restaurants, they deliver every time.
Drinks, food and desserts were amazing!! But the experience is completely out of the ordinary, simply a place to remember! They also did a beautiful decorative job in our table.
I would love to start this review by saying what an amazing crew they have, everyone was so attentive and dedicated to giving us the best experience possible. Pedro is such an amazing person and made us feel at home. We had a very pleasant experience and the attention and service from Chris the bar tender was just 10/10 he made us one of the best drinks I’ve ever tried. Thank you for such a wonderful experience Elcielo.
Miami Spice 2018: Unfortunately, the menu options were not as good this time around. The leek soup with mushroom center was good but nothing compared to last year's soup. The Salmon dish was good, but the dulce de leche dessert was not a hit at our table. I would like to come try the full experience but will most likely wait until they rotate their menu again because it includes a lot of the same Miami Spice options. Miami Spice 2017: What a phenomenal experience. Every single dish held an abundance of flavor like no other. We highly recommend the carrot soup, pappardelle ropa vieja, guava ribs, and pretty much everything else. We came for Miami Spice but will definitely be back to try the regular menu. While pricey, we know it will be worth it because not only was our meal extremely tasty, it is an experience like no other. We had the good fortune of meeting the sweetest, most personable server ever. My only regret is not getting his name so I can give him proper credit in my review. He described each dish beautifully and had a story to share about almost everything, including the wine cork collection they keep at the front of the store and the painting by the bathrooms that a 7 year old girl once described to him as a whale's tale. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
The dishes are tasty, creative, diverse and very well presented… the experience as a whole is awesome. Had a wonderful time with my parents. Well done!!
When I tried this restaurant in Medellin Colombia you have highly expectations of how the food will be and especially how flavors will be! I’ll stick with the one in Medellin as flavors of their general Colombian ingredients are much better in every way but when friends want to try upscale Colombian food this is what I will always recommend. Experience in general was amazing but there’s a few here and there “The Experience” Tasting Menu wasn’t very accurate on flavors but everything was perfectly executed. Ps. Not everyone speaks English so you must find that employee who does in order to get what you want to order. We had trouble figuring out the bottle of wine of our choice since one of their employee wasn’t comprehending English very well.
Probably the most unique dining experience we have ever had. The courses were filling and exceptionally well paired. My wife had a blast and we got to sample everything. Leaves you satisfied but not overly full.
I recently went to the new El Cielo in Brickel. As someone who is an affictionada in molecular gastronomy El Cielo does not disappoint. Years ago I went to the one in South Beach and it was good (not great) the service was typical Sobe. About a month ago on a business trip I went the one Colombia the original! It was next level and the service was 6 stars!! The waiters are not typical waiters as they put on a show with every course and also describe the course and the wine pairing impeccably. I decided to try the Brickell location. Had I not been to the one in Colombia I would of given it a 5 star as everything was great but the service, although excellent for Miami it didn’t compare with Colombia’s . My recommendation is have the wait staff take a trip to the one in Colombia to experience the service.
Beautiful restaurant, was confused with the service as there was such a low effort of the menu explained to us. We were so confused. Overall the food was good and it’s was a nice atmosphere.
My wife and I recently attended a wine dinner at El Cielo, featuring their “The Experience” tasting menu paired with Chilean wines. While we enjoyed the food and overall atmosphere, certain aspects fell short, making the high price hard to justify. If the meal had cost $150 to $175 per person, I would have rated the experience four stars. However, at nearly $300 per person (just the food), it simply didn’t deliver the value expected. The Food We genuinely enjoyed the food. Every dish was cooked perfectly, with well-balanced flavors that worked harmoniously. There were enough courses to leave us satisfied. However, nothing stood out as particularly creative or memorable. The meal lacked the “wow” factor I would expect at this price point. For comparison, Ariete in Coconut Grove offers a more exciting culinary experience with a better atmosphere at a significantly lower price. The Wine Tasting The wine tasting was the most disappointing part of the evening—not because of the wine itself, which was fine, but due to the extremely limited pours. There were around 12 guests, and we sampled five wines from just five bottles total, resulting in minuscule pours. When I requested a bit more wine, my request was denied. Even when my glass was empty during the meal, I was told to wait for the next course. This level of restriction felt stingy and out of place for a premium dining experience. At this price, offering a second pour or additional glass should be standard. The Service Service overall was excellent. The staff was attentive and professional. The only challenge was understanding one waiter due to a strong accent, though it didn’t significantly impact our experience. Final Thoughts El Cielo might have been innovative five years ago, but today there are better, more affordable options in Miami. While we appreciated the well-executed dishes and attentive service, the lack of value—especially with the wine experience—left us underwhelmed. At a lower price point, we would consider returning, but at its current cost, it’s hard to recommend.
I’m a Colombian immigrant in the service industry who works at a Fort Lauderdale brunch place. When I heard about el Cielo, I decided to save up enough money to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. To make matters even better, I decided to go on the special day of July 20th—the day of Colombian independence. The food was everything I’d hoped it would be. The truffle buñuelo started things off with this elegant and surprising bite. Things got even more delicious with standout items like the yucca gnocchi and coffee experience. I couldn’t wait to save enough money to go back again in six months. However, the experience was taking longer than anticipated (they said two and a half hours but it was closing in on 3), and we were about to miss our train. When the check came, they had added 20% for service, which was an additional 118$. The whole check with gratuity came out to 721 for two people…we didn’t have enough time to wait for change, so we left 720 cash, understanding that it was at our discretion to raise or lower a tip. Instead of tipping 20%, we ended up tipping 19.99%. So, it was very surprising and humiliating for me when one of the servers chased me to my Uber, and chastised me in front of a group of people about not paying the extra dollar on the bill. I felt so embarrassed and like I didn’t belong—a feeling that was incredibly painful considering the long hours I worked to save for the night and the fact that it represented my culture (a country I haven’t been able to go back to for two years). Obviously, I understand paying servers for their work as I am one myself; however, I thought this situation left an unfortunately bad taste in my mouth over one dollar. I just hope the servers know that when gratuity is added onto a bill, a patron can raise or lower at their discretion. I’m not sure if I’ll go back in six months, and it’s hard to recommend it even though the food and environment are spectacular.
Too much theatrics and not enough focus on food and service. Some dishes under delivered and seemed too basic in thought and execution. For example, our lobster roll was undercooked and a few dishes were dry (like they were cooked earlier in the day). However, other dishes like the buñuelos were very good. As for service, many of the staff we’re constantly walking around seemingly out of place, asking us if we wanted more water, and in one occasion discussing logistics while delivering plates. Also, because the menu is so large, we felt rushed as they were presenting dish after dish without some time between them. We some some tables were multiple dishes were brought at the same time. Overall, ok menu and dishes, too much theatrics and an overpriced and overrated feel.
Great food! Cool concept! Unfortunately, the experience of El Cielo in Bogota and Medellin both deserve the five stars because the staff takes the art of the chef far more seriously than the staff in Miami. The lack of enthusiasm and high spirits that accompany the food and concepts is why I give this restaurant 3 stars especially For the amount of money you pay for the pre-fix menu.
Where's the beef !! Seriously a $600 dinner for two in less than average restaurant for salty food and unprofessional service leaded by an ambitious 10 years old kid who did the explaining of the dishes to each table and took the seriousness of this unusual weird concept! Wake up guys and smell the Colombian coffee It was a waste of a dinner, time and money in this bad copy of Michelin stars chef and way below the comparison to a serious high end restaurant. Most of their tiny dishes were salty or tasteless and the service was ok by some and super rude by other and the ambiance was cold and annoying to boring including the useless white chocolate hand wash and the smoke over a coffee!!! We will not comeback and We do not recommend
This isn’t the review I wanted to be writing. Roughly halfway through the meal our server attempted to pour a glass of red from a poorly-sealed Coravin when it exploded, spraying wine across the table. Our faces, hair, and clothes (including a doomed white dress shirt) covered in pinot. All involved were shocked, including the staff offering a seemingly endless supply of napkins, which - spoiler alert - still do not remove red wine stains. Elcielo comped our wine pairing, but still charged over $800 for the evening, including a 20% service fee which felt like a slap in the face. It was an accident, and we forgive the server. Shit happens. And at the same time, when you’re spending a lot of money on a celebratory meal, it’s a mistake that leaves you upset, uncomfortable, and in disbelief. Elcielo gets 2 stars because leading up that moment, we were enjoying the first half of the experience. However, this was a significant and embarrassing error, especially given the Michelin stars on full display which are supposed to designate excellence. What we experienced that night was something far lesser. Will we be back? Maybe. But for the foreseeable future, we’ll seek dining experiences elsewhere and encourage others to do the same.
I felt deeply scammed by this restaurant. While their presentation was impressive, the food quality and portions were very disappointing. Their signature dish, “Tree of Life,” is basically fried mochi. It was hard to pull a piece off, and the side seasoning was overly sweet and didn’t pair well with the bread. The soup served with it was too salty. They added ice flakes to the soup, but it didn’t enhance the flavor—if anything, it felt like a pointless add-on. One of the servers asked how I felt about the soup. I said it wasn’t really my thing. He didn’t ask why—he just walked away, which came across as arrogant and dismissive. This is the worst Michelin-starred restaurant I’ve ever tried. It doesn’t deserve a Michelin star, and it’s definitely not worth the 20% service fee or a $500 bill (if you order drinks). If you’re considering dining here, please treat yourself better and go somewhere else.
Staff very polite and friendly. Food portions seemed (samples) in my opinion I have been to fine restaurants and I know that the portions are by weight and all that protocol .but too expensive for the amount of food (SAMPLES ) my son got sick from stomach like in the midde of food he only tried about three options and even that they charged us the completed check I think the food is overpriced for the amount on each portion and you can even order a regular plate you have to stick to the menu they have for everyone at the restaurant
My husband and I visited this restaurant and paid $900 for two. It was a very bad experience. Service: I was shown a small table and told I could put my bag there. I placed it down without noticing a bottle of water, which broke. The waitress made a face and rolled her eyes in annoyance. I felt very uncomfortable and wanted to leave immediately. Food: All the food was extremely sweet, and the desserts tasted like something from a mediocre pastry shop. The presentation was quite nice, but the quality didn’t match the high price. Location: We were seated at a table right by the passageway, where waiters kept walking back and forth — no sense of privacy at all. We’ve been to many Michelin-starred restaurants, and this one doesn’t deserve even a single star.
Almost every dish was too sweet from the appetizers to the main dishes. Lots of ingredients and flavors are re-used and just blend together which dilutes any uniqueness of any one dish. Overpriced, in the sense that unlike some other restaurants in the same bracket the actual quality of dishes were lacking. There were a lot of gimmicks without focus on the fundamentals of taste and texture. This might be a worthwhile experience if it was priced around $100-$150 but at $289 then there are much better experiences both in Miami and abroad. I would not recommend this restaurant unfortunately. This is not a reflection on the staff or service, purely on the food experience alone.
