We were happy this place was open as we were visiting Biscayne National Park and there isn’t much else near this spot. There was only one other table taken so I hope the business is doing OK… The chicken portion on the sandwich is huge! Our server was very attentive, friendly and quick Parking is a bummer at $7.84 but I don’t think it’s the restaurant’s fault. And like some places, they do charge extra to use a credit card.
The oysters at this beachfront restaurant are awesome. The size of them lets you enjoy them to the fullest. The rest of the menu items are also on point. If you sit at the bar, Carlo is awesome. He is very attentive and ensures your drink is perfect every time. Carlo is my main bartender! Also, the view and atmosphere is cool. Enjoy!
I have to say the place exceeded my expectations. I was worried it would be too overcrowded, but it was just perfect. The food was fenomenal, like always i order a bit of everything to try all. The drinks were good, the conch fritters, coconut shrimp, the ceviche corvina & shrimp, the oysters were awesome & fresh. The desserts were also perfection. The atmosphere priceless, didnt even know there was live music which was just perfect, played from slow old to new salsa just great. Safe place to have the kids by the pool & the adults enjoying some good food. Our waitress was MARY GALLO, definitely will return & ask for her, she was on top of our needs always bringing the next drink right before we were done & always making sure we were ok.
At the very beginning of my visit with family I told them to take me to their favorite place to eat in their area. It would be the last restaurant food that we we planned on eating before we left. This is the place we were taken to. To enter I guess you have to have a day or yearly pass. There are a lot of boats parked. The restaurant has views of the beautiful beach. We ordered the meals pictured and everything was absolutely excellent. Everything our family stated about the place was absolutely true. The Mojitos tasted great and the atmosphere was wonderful. The warmth of the beach, the view, etc. Now we are at a beach so you will experience flies. The prices are a little steep but to be expected it’s fresh seafood. So the price was well worth it. Loved the moment that will always remain.
We were there during Cinco De Mayo Celebration so the restaurant was full of energetic people and live music as well. The music and atmosphere is what grabbed us to the place. Had such a good time to listen to the musics even though we had no clue what it meant. Seeing Couples dancing, singing, and having family time seems awesome. We just got some dessert and drinks and enjoyed being there. Awesome restaurant by the park.
This hidden gem offers spectacular waterfront views along with a relaxing, chill, laidback atmosphere. They play live music on weekends which gives island vibes. This is now one of my favorite places to bring friends & family for lunch and happy hour. The seafood dishes are delicious and the service is on point. Our bartender Carlos M. was great. He really knows how to make amazing cocktails and offered us helpful & insightful menu recommendations . Our server Yiyi was very pleasant and attentive with all her tables. You should definitely check the place out I assure you that you won’t regret it ! 😎☀️🏝️🏖️🌅
La Playa grill is a nice stop for fresh seafood. The view and atmosphere is more of a tiki hut but here it’s huge. The food cooked really well and as ordered. It has a Mathesan Hammocks feel with a lovely view of the water. Service was excellent and Inexpensive for a government park restaurant.
We stopped here for happy hour. They close for lunch at 3pm and dinner starts at 5:30. The bar is open and they serve only certain appetizers. We got conch hush puppies, and shrimp cocktail. They were very good.
Daibel was an excellent server, very patient with us. The food was delicious & the service was great. We went on a Saturday early afternoon (12pm) and had the fresh oysters, fish/shrimp ceviche & creme brulee. Highly recommended this place!
Amazing experience. Excellent food. Heart melting music. Great ambience. Friendly folks.

An incredible place to enjoy with family, friends, or alone. Highly recommended. You can have a barbecue or go for a swim at the quiet, kid-friendly beach.

If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience with a touch of tropical flair, Playita Grill is the place to be! This hidden gem offers a perfect blend of fresh seafood, vibrant flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re enjoying their signature ceviche or indulging in their mouthwatering grilled fish, the food is always top-notch. But what really takes the experience to another level is the bar service. Carlos, the bartender, is an absolute pro. He mixes up cocktails with flair and knows how to recommend the perfect drink for every mood. His warm and friendly personality adds to the charm of the place—making you feel like a regular from the moment you step in. If you’re lucky enough to sit at the bar, be sure to ask Carlos for his latest creation. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! The overall vibe at Playita Grill is lively yet relaxed, with stunning views and a laid-back beachy atmosphere. It’s the ideal spot for a casual dinner with friends or a romantic night out. Highly recommend!
Carlos, our waiter, was excellent. We came here for my grandma's birthday and the service was great! He made us feel welcomed, anticipated what we might have needed, and was very pleasant all around.
Carlo (bartender) was amazing. Very attentive and friendly. The oysters and fish ceviche were so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend visiting and asking for Carlo at the bar.
We went on Sunday with some friends. Food is fantastic. (Really!) Fresh fish. There was this Cuban singer, Emilio. He is amazing! Powerful voice! He sings all Latin genres: salsa, merengue, bachata, boleros. Clients just became like old friends. Singing and dancing together. He performs on Fridays and Sundays. We'll be back!
We had a little "party" at the upstairs lounge. Oysters, chips, fish, shrimp, drinks... etc... fun in the water... I stationed myself as "crocodile watch". Spent a LOT of cash. Nice place. Not too many people there. Lots of showers available.
At la playaa grill, therer atmosphere, service and food where exceptional, our waitress was sol soo nice and helpful, and the manager lester very conmunicative and responsive to all sugestions,my positive feed back for this place.
It was wonderful. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. A nice place with good vibes. Life music, the singer is very good a true entertainer. The service was outstanding, fast and pleasant. Thank you Ericka for your kindness and excellence. I strongly recommend this place. It's a little far, but totally worthy.
Great place to spend time with friends. Food is good .
We were at the Homestead Bayfront Park enjoying a little stroll and taking in the sunset..got a little parched...so we ended up grabbing a couple small bites and some libations. The beer was ice cold and the appetizers were perfect, as we were not that hungry just wanted a little something to tie us over. The appetizers were great, what stood out the most was the Calimari. It was phenomenal, every now and then somebody reinvents the wheel. Though a typical dish, theirs was a cut above. Nice thick meaty moist(not rubbery) good sized rings with a perfectly breaded and seasoned consistency. With an ice cold IPA, had me feeling like I was knocking on heavens door, in a good way. Enrique our waiter was a complete gentlemen mixed with cool cat. Had a very relaxed and easy going swagger, was originally from Cuba, and a great conversationalist. Perfect balance of attentiveness, but not overdone, as to allow us space for our own conversation. #winner winner seafood dinner....
Visited La Playa Grill on a Tuesday afternoon while spending the day at Homestead Bayfront Park with family visiting from out of town, and it was such a great experience. Even though the weather was unusually chilly for Homestead, the upstairs bayfront setting made everything feel cozy and special. The ambiance was beautiful, relaxed, and very clean, with amazing water views. Our server Carlos was absolutely fantastic — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He made the experience fun and memorable and deserves major recognition for his outstanding service. The food was delicious, the drinks were perfectly made, and everyone in our group had an amazing time. This spot truly added to our family memories. Highly recommend La Playa Grill for great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. We can’t wait to return!
Great food, atmosphere and service was great. Ask for Carlos. He went well beyond his duties to make me a drink that was not on the menu. He made me an iced coffee that he made from his own Idea for a drink, the best ice coffee I have ever had. We named it a Carlos ice coffee, ask for one, you won’t be disappointed 😊☀️
Carlos is the best swrver/bartender. He was so attentive to our needs and made us feel like we are home. We come every year from NY and he always makes us feel weekend. Thank you Carlos

was looking for refuge from a storm heading my way. was at Biscayne NP kayaking. This restaurant was right next door. Had a grilled snapper with fried plantains and black beans. The fish was basic...nothing special. Black beans were flavorless and watery. The plantains were great! The storm blew over.
Very cute little place! We came for happy hour and got some drinks and an app. Fried Calamari was so fresh and so good! Best I’ve had in a while. Margs we’re good but not great. We also got some draft beer and it was nice with Miami’s afternoon heat. Will definitely come back and try some more food!

I would definitely give 5 stars, but the food took a very long time to come out, and servers were not attentive to empty drinks or coming to check on us. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was nice. Please note that parking is paid here, not free!
Stopped in for happy hour, not enough of a variety of draft beer available but the margaritas were tasty. My friend had a pina colada and she said it was great too. Atmosphere was cool, overlooking a beach y area. Unfortunately it was a bit too cool to stay for food, too windy on our visit
Very nice surprise of good food and service. View is amazing too! We just like to dine relaxed and with some water front, I google restaurants close to the house , and Playa Grill showed up!! Hidden jewel!! I referred the restaurant to friends and family , and every body happy!! We need more places like this in our neighborhood! Keep up the good job! !
As seen in my pictures are the most up to date menu prices. -Entrees can get pricey but my wife and I stuck with the cheaper options of burgers and it still ended up being about $37 total as seen on the receipt. -The burgers were not disappointing though so that's a plus! -Atmosphere is great, outdoor seating with a gorgeous view of the ocean and palm trees was nice! -However, service was very slow even at 1:30pm in the afternoon on a week day. The servers were kind enough but couldn't keep up with the 6 tables they had to manage. **Happy hour according to the menu is 2pm to 7pm. This is inaccurate, it is 4pm to 6 pm**
The food was great. We ordered chicken wings and chicken fillet as we are more a chicken lover than seafood. The waiter was super energetic and helping us understand what the drinks and food made from. The only draw back **mosquitoes** .we went on a Friday in December. Till 5 it was light but past that around 6 we just couldn't bear it . We were going crazy just trying to kill the little mosquitoes everywhere. You can't see them but they will sting. There was a guy that sprayed something for the flies and said the smoke was not toxic but it didn't help. Wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the food and the view but couldn't bear the bites. The waiter did say it's not everyday and I didn't see much reviews on these mosquitoes but still hope the management would do something else about it.

My husband and I dined at this restaurant our last night in the Florida City/Homestead area. What a great find! Our food was delicious and and plentiful! The view was great of the Biscayne Bay…
I dined here and had a mixed experience. The outdoor seating offers a lovely view of a small bay area by the ocean, which is a highlight. The blackened Mahi Mahi and plantains were delicious, bursting with flavor. However, the outdoor-only setup comes with challenges. Mosquitoes were a major issue, making it hard to enjoy the meal. They provide bug spray and have fans, but these only helped so much—bugs were still biting and even getting into my food, forcing me to leave halfway through. The table was also uneven, which was annoying. I ordered a lemonade since I was driving, but it had an odd, barely citrusy taste that didn’t feel like lemonade. The food and view are great, but the bug problem and outdoor limitations need addressing.
Been here a few times, always quiet, was a Friday night and on a September night!!! Open air restaurant, Yes, mosquitos!! What less would one expect?? Food was acceptable and sufficient for the appt. We had 2 fish sandwich and a house salad, conch fitters, 2 beer, glass of wine and 2 shots! Topped it off with 2 Cafecitos! All good!! Except for the BILL!!! With tip @25%, $156!! Not complaining cause it felt like we were in our own back yard and being served! I am not a “give me the bill” type when going out, but that seemed a little off??? Better times to go are Nov-Mar…no mosquitos!!!

Food was okay. Service was very slow. Not as nice as some of the reviews make it sound. Suggestion for wait staff: if you're out of something, let customers know when you seat them instead of when they go to order. The good: Plenty of parking. Pretty views. Good portion sizes for kid's menu.
Very expensive since new ownership. Nice view to the sea.
It is very relaxing place the waitress were very kind the only thing that I was not happy was the fry calamari it was over cooked and burned when I made observation to the girl she gave me an excuse that probably the oil was old I didn't like it she should had spoken to the cook men and replace it.the the fettuccine and shrimp were excellent.
Food was pretty good. Not gourmet of course. After all it IS a beach bar. But the atmosphere is amazing. A couple things to note. You MUST wear shoes and be dry. No soaking wet barefeet allowed.
The place has a nice view. People is so nice. Incredible Whole Fried Fish. Latin music playing on the back. It is located on the second floor of the building with an unique terrace to enjoy the ocean view. Totally recommended. It has a happy hour where you can enjoy 2X1 margaritas and beers.

Lunch with some friends I had the lobster she had the fish. My friend expressed her fish was good but my meal on the other hand well the lobster and scallops were over cooked (very chewy) the veggies & plantains were the best thing on the plate. Our waiter was super friendly and that view though...

This place is great for enjoying the beach, live music, or catching a show. While the food isn't the standout feature, it's definitely a fun spot to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere.

I tried this place hoping that it would be good. I was very disappointed. Between the, what must have been a young new waitress, and having to send food back, waiting a long time for the food to get to me and then waiting a good while for the check, it wasn't a happy camper experience. We ordered grilled shrimp appetizer that said came with ranch, but got cocktail sauce. Waited about 45min for food and ran out of drink during that time and then she finally shows up. Got more drinks, but no food yet. About 10 min more it came out, i tried one of my fries and they were cold. Sent back to get hot ones and they refried the cold ones. They were hot, but many were too crispy to eat. Since they took my fish sandwich back on the plate also, needless to say it got cold. Didn't dare send it back, it was already little overcooked on one side. I hope they will get their act together, they have beautiful views and nice outside dinning, but maybe the name tells it like it is, just playing.
Wife and I used to come here quite a bit about a year ago until we had a bad experience. Decided to try again tonight hoping it got better.... but no. Walked in, sat down at a table that needed to be wiped down, waited for about 10 minutes until someone came to greet us. There were about 10 others there, so not crowded at all. Server took our order, but we had to ask to have the table wiped clean. Food came out and was terrible. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was over cooked and rubbery. This place has potential, but it seems those that work there don't care. Also, be aware and pay attention to your bill, gratuity is automatically included. (I can understand for 6 or more people, but for 2?) Better service, better food and I bet more people would go more often. It's got great potential.... but will wait to go back and try again as there are better options, just without the view.
Great atmosphere, waitress was good and sweet but had a very difficult time because she barely spoke English (not a problem) had to translate with her cell phone constantly. Most of the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, 30-40 min. Several meals came out 30 or 40 minutes after that! Everybody else was completely finished with their meals before several meals even came out. The manager was horrible. Pretended not to speak any English. Never offered any apology or discount.
Waiter never attended us or offer us some water to drink took for ever to charge us and was unpleasant been here many times before this place has change a lot and not for the good.
The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the location was great. It wasn’t super fancy, but it had a good vibe. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in key areas. While the drinks were good and enjoyable, the service was a bit slow, which made the wait for our food feel even longer. Speaking of the food, it was very disappointing. The quality was low, and the taste didn’t justify the high price. Overall, while the setting and drinks were decent, the food and service left a lot to be desired. I wouldn’t rush back.
I've been to this place several times, but it seem like the quality of service has gone down. I received a dirty glass with lipstick on it and the waitress didn't even noticed it, until after I pointed it out and the food was cold.
The view is lovely. The food is average. The service was absolutely horrendous. My advice? Order a beverage, maybe an appetizer (be sure you know exactly what you’re ordering as the menu is confusing) if you’re feeling lucky and skip the entrees. These guys are uninterested.
I was happy to see a restaurant near such a nice beach but honestly the food was not all that great. The beans were good and the rice was ok but the chicken lacked flavor. I had the fish and it was also very bland. We did get very lucky to have a nice male waiter who was on top of our orders and drinks, so honestly he gets the 5 stars but the kitchen needs to step it up. Also, the female waitresses more interested in catching with each other then taking care of their guest, leaving all the work to the male waiters (not cool). If management steps it up and the kitchen improves this place will be worth the trip. As it stands, not so much. Drinks were actually very good!

Place was pretty dead. We had the pizza, calamari, and mahi sandwich. Very good. Burger and tenders, nothing special. The ambiance was beautiful. The service was okay, she really didn't have to do much. We did enjoy ourselves but it's a one and done thing. The server added herself and extra gratuity, on top of what was included. My boyfriend didn't say anything until we left, I didn't want to go back and ruin our day, but for that greediness, we won't be back. Be careful when you check your bill and when the server taps the iPad to add herself more of a tip. If she did it to us, I'm sure she does it to other customers. I'm sure management doesn't care. We also weren't sure is parking was free or not, so we paid $11. A total of $111 lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids. Craziness.
Aight gang here's the deal. The good: Convenience if you're at the park View Beer Yathrooms are not the ideal place to take a yiss The bad: Food was mid at best. My blackened mahi mahi was quite overcooked and over seasoned. Cod fritters were too moist and chewy. Chicken wings were over breaded and bland. Tostones were bland and tough. Frozen pina colada wasn't frozen. Oysters were huge but I've had much better in many other places. I heard multiple songs they were playing 3 times which is a massive no for me. Service was super slow. Guy was nice but it was massively slow. I'm not local to homestead so I don't know if other oceanfront options exist nearby, but if they do, just go there.
HORRIBLE - Just plain HORRRIBLE. The music was at EAR BLEED volume- we were farthest from the stage. Asked the Manager to help lower volume - we couldn't even talk to each other waiting an hour for…

The worst place I have dinned out. I don’t recommend it! It is truly very expensive and they don’t know how to cook at all. They used mojito to cook something they call steak. In addition, it was raw or not cook medium rare at all. Not to mention that could possibly have been cooked well done. I couldn’t tell, because the taste was horrible. Moreover, the steak was so thin, that was obviously no possible to cook it medium rare. Finally the female server was very unpleasant and not knowledgeable at all, we had to request the child seat, instead of offer it. I had to go and pick it up, because she told someone, that couldn’t observe that it was for the table that had the only child. The worse experience ever! And now reviewing my check, they charge you a service charge as well.

No idea if the food was good or not... went for to the beach but couldn't grab a bite cuz well shoes and shirt is a requirement...and god forbid you have sand anywhere on your body...who sets up next a beach and doesn't expect a sand or a few people will wet hair.
This place charges $11 per hour just to PARK and the parking enforcers were not kind. Sea food was good. Everything else was ok (like sides). Service was okay.
Location and view were great. Some of our party never received their order and cancelled after an hour and half wait for burgers. Meanwhile the other half of our party had finished eating. Manager offered one free dessert for the table. We were charged for extra sides we did not get and the staff supposedly did not understand English in order to take those off the bill. The time was 2 pm -the restaurant was not busy at all. The manager was NOT accommodating and we will not go back.
We were at Biscayne National Park and asked where we could get something to eat. This is cafe at the state park next door is apparently the only option. We entered and were the only people in the place (the whole lunch time). Our first server did not speak English, so she brought around someone who did. He was very friendly. We ordered, then the waiter comes back to tell me they don't have any fish for the fish sandwich. So, I ordered a chicken sandwich. A few minutes later...the waiter very apologetically says, we don't have chicken either. So, what do you have? Hamburger. So much for trying to eat health! BTW, the burger was so-so. The view over a small swimming lake and then out to the sea is pretty, but overall I cannot recommend.
Frozen Mahi finger fish. Not fresh.fake French fries. Not quality at all . Do not carry any type of light beers brand. Have to pay parking which use to be free to dinner. Service Not good.over all the food is no longer fresh . Fish is not fresh. Some of the item in the menu doesn't exists. Poor quality food.a restaurant staff not been professional with customers. I use to love this place . Not any more. I do not recommend to any body . It really sucks. Hope they close soon.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! JUST SAY NO!!! DONT DO IT! the Latin music was so LOUD my ears bleed. The manager could care less! The food was mediocre at best - the service excellent. The waitress could not hear us to take our orders. Tok the kitchen well over an hour to get our food out. We couldn't talk to each other the entire time due to the never ending obnoxious Latin music at Ear bleed volume. We sat as far from the stage as you could get. After eating there for years - NEVER AGAIN!!!
Overpriced for OK food, plus $10 for parking and 15% forced gratuity. Lots of cigarette smoke and loud music/atmosphere made it difficult to enjoy the meal.
First of all I drew from Sunny isles because I saw they got a good food good ambience I get there at 2:00 I have to wait in outside no property wearing area for 45 minutes the service was bad ,the food was terrible. Not only that you cannot decide where you want to be sitting because they reserve table for friends I asked to be sit down close to the window for me to enjoy The view and the waitress told me the owner only allow that area for four people sitting down so I see two people sitting in a table for four people definitely I'm not recommended that place.
Very slow to get food that is just okay. The waitress did not check on and they do not tell you but they already charge a 15% service fee. DO NOT TIP YOUR SERVER OR YOU WILL BE TIPPING CLOSE TO 30%. Stay away there are better places+
Found dead parasite crabs in my oysters. At first the manager/owner would not come out to our table telling our waiter he was too busy. After 40 minutes of waiting he finally came out and told us that the crabs were a sign of freshness. Unacceptable, asked for a refund. Waiters had little to no experience. Skip the drive and go somewhere else.
If I could give less stars, I would. This place for me is pure false advertising. Nothing was even close what owner advertises. I drive many miles to get there due all owner’s youtube shows I use to follow but my experience was like been in a quiosco in the 3rd world country, imported misery. Fried Calamari were mushy done by “chef’s” microwave, super small portions, house mojitos are horrible done with poor quality nasty “ron”. Bartender was rude and I had to beg for a glass cup only disposable plastic cups he insisted. Fish was so small extremely priced. Mahi Mahi Burger was the worst I have ever had in my life, it was dark breaded fish under cooked. Tip was already automatically added 15% that you can’t even see it because the waitress handle the bill so fast. Flys are permanent guests competing to eat your food. Good look 👀 to you but I will never return. I am letting you know my experience eating all in paper plates nothing even close to the videos I previously washed but on top of that they are rude and do not takes criticism from customers as a second chance. Stay away of this place.
