Lung Yai Thai Tappas is a popular Thai restaurant in Miami known for its delicious and authentic food, fast service, and reasonable prices. A unique aspect is the one-time ordering policy. Some find the rushed dining experience off-putting.
Tip: Be ready to order all your dishes at once, and consider ordering two dishes per person if you're very hungry.

We went by recommendation to this restaurant located in downtown Miami with a Michelin Star and the truth was great. If you look at it from the outside it doesn't say much because it's a small place and without much luxury but you really feel like somewhere else. The atmosphere is good, the attention is very professional on the part of all their team, the cozy place, with little light at night but it makes it different, they play music from their country all the time, it was clean and the service in general was fast and efficient. The food was very tasty, recommended, with a balance of spectacular flavors. Just as a tip: when you go, look at the menu first so you know what to order because only one order is made, which is a little uncomfortable but it's not that it gives problems either.
This spot is straight 🔥. The flavors, the energy, and the vibe are unmatched. Where else in Miami can you get a Michelin-recognized meal for under $100 for two people? That alone makes it special. A lot of the negative reviews you see are just haters this isn’t some generic tourist trap it’s authentic, bold Thai food done right. If you actually appreciate real cooking, not watered-down plates, you’ll love it here. Portions are generous, service is efficient (don’t expect hand holding, expect greatness), and every dish is packed with flavor. Easily one of the best values in the city. If you’re in Miami and you skip Lung Yai, you’re missing
Outstanding Thai food. We tried the dumplings, tom kha soup, chicken curry noodles and slow cooked pork soup from chefs specialties. Everything was phenomenal! The prices are very reasonable. For appetizers, soup, two main courses and 2 beers we spent $80. The place gets packed during the lunch time. They claim Michelin ‘22, ‘23, ‘25. It’s closed on Sunday’s and Monday’s.
Last time I was here was about maybe four years ago. This place is amazing. The food the service the flavors the soup everything about it is lovely. Just be prepared to order one time everything that you need because there’s no placing any additional orders no matter how delicious it is… Today I had the soup with shrimp. I had the dumplings and had the barbecued ribs so good you will slap your momma. My nephew is a food reviewer and I already sent him the information on this place and told him he gotta come here early just as they open to ensure getting a table and he is gonna love this place. His reviews will be on TikTok and on Facebook. JosheatsFL
The food at Lung Yai Thai Tapas was amazing! We had the steamed dumplings, Tom Kha, Pad See Ew, and Jungle Fried Rice. Everything was packed with flavor… the dumplings were tender, the Tom Kha was rich and comforting, and the Pad See Ew was perfectly balanced. The Jungle Fried Rice was good, though it tasted more like a regular fried rice than something unique. Overall, delicious food and definitely worth visiting!
Hands down the BEST Thai food I've had in the US. Everything was exploding with flavor. Seriously so so good! I recommend their Khao Soi, fried pork dumplings, mushroom coconut milk soup, and their crispy duck. We cannot wait to go back to try more of their menu!
Our server was really friendly and gave us REALLY good advice on the restaurant's specialties. The service was very fast and efficient. The food was excellent and authentic. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Miami!
This is a hole-in-the-wall that serves up some seriously delicious Thai food! The food we had was all tasty, but the portions were a bit small for my liking. The spring rolls and oyster mushrooms were 10/10. The tom yum was very flavorful. Server recommended the Khao Soi, which was very hearty. I’m not a fan of the “one-time order” policy, but whatever floats your boat. And the Thai iced tea was a bit too sweet for my taste, so I wouldn’t recommend it. I would recommend coming for the tasty dishes.
We came as soon as they reopened at 5 and were the only two there. The tom kha is good, papaya salad, wings and mushrooms were excellent, and the curry was one of the best I've had before. Even though we could only order once they did bring the curry out later to save us table space which we appreciated. I really enjoyed the Thai music too. I will definitely be back. Only thing that could of been better was more mosquito protection (got bit on my back and sides) and the service to be less attentive - I understand we were the only ones and the staff doesn't have much space inside to hang out. Will wear a light jacket next time.
Been here multiple times and the khao soy never disappoints! 😍😍 Love the upbeat atmosphere I wish they’d expand! The wait it always long but worth it 😋
The best Thai food in Miami! Dining here is laid back and fun atmosphere. Staff is always so kind & helpful with picking up to-go food, or getting a table as fast as possible! Favorites so far have been the spring rolls, pad thai, and the duck basil dish! Excited to come back soon and try all the curry options. Thank you for all the yummy food!
Wow, the duck noodle soup really blew me away! Easily my favorite dish from here so far. I was a bit surprised when I had to wait about 40 minutes for seating (on a Tuesday night!) due to its popularity and limited availability (it’s a small space in an unassuming building), but I didn’t mind. Neither did the others who patiently waited, because we all probably knew it was worth it. We were served quickly and efficiently, and being able to watch my (and other’s) food being prepared in front of me in real time was mesmerizing and added to my enjoyment of my food. However, don’t come here expecting good service. Overall, this place is excellent with a very cozy and modest environment/vibe. I will certainly be coming back!
I went here randomly just to get see what a Thai Tapas restaurant was. Basically they have noodle soup bowls. The noodles were rice noodle , not wheat noodle so I was good with that. I ordered the spicy seafood bowl that has the pinkish color to it. I'm not sure what spices were in there, but it was mild to me. It could (and I wish) have been alot spicier. The waitresss gave me a no refund" warning so I was somewhat of a letdown when the soup was mild. But overall good and the price was very good
This place I found thru Yelp and I'm so glad I did. I have driven by so many times and never noticed it was here. This is authentic Thai food surprisingly located at Calle Ocho in a hole on the wall. Very small and cozy and they cook right in front of you so no shady business in the back. Everything looked delicious but I can only judge what I had and that was the dumplings, pork dumplings to be exact and the Pad Thai. I ordered pork pad Thai and it was so good I wanted another bowl. Soooo delicious and flavorful. The dumplings were good but nothing out of this world, yet again dumplings are not flavorful by nature when steamed but these were still very good. I will be coming back to try the famous chicken wings and small plates. 10/28/2023: food is still phenomenal…tried the mouthwatering crispy duck salad, the pork dumplings to die for and opted for pork Pad Thai this time around and it was just as delicious as last time. Service is still top notch but improved since they’re no longer rushing you out of there. There’s more sitting capacity, now outside and on the sidewalk. This joint is now a not so hidden gem in Calle Ocho but a gem nevertheless.
Manage your expectations coming to this restaurant. If you’re coming for delicious food in a humble, understated setting, you’ve come to the right place. This is an order once type concept, be decisive about what you want, enjoy your food, and move on. Not because you’re being rushed out, but because you’re sitting in one of the 8 tables available. Yung Lai gives the confidence of a restaurant that has been here for 9 years and recognized on the Michelin guide (a foodie’s reference book). I tried the fried oyster mushrooms (recommended over the wings for a less heavy option) Tom Kha soup with chicken Crab fried rice All washed down with the only beer option, Singha Everything was delicious. Dare I say some of the most tasty Thai food I’ve ever had. What I can appreciate most about this place being new to Miami is the simple “come as you are” atmosphere. If you simply want to go out and have a delicious meal without the need to dress up and put on a show, Lung Yai is it. The music is a little loud, so probably not ideal for a first date you’re trying to impress. Or maybe the absolute best place to take a first date you’re trying to see the real side of. 😏 $48 later, I’m full and happy. 10/10 recommend. PS: if you want to avoid a wait, I’d recommend getting there early ish. Thankfully I got in right as they opened at 5PM. I walked out at 6 to find a line outside.
So there's not a lot of seating therefore expect to wait if you're not one of the first in line. When you get there look for a clip board hanging to the left of these door, write your name and party size cause that's how you get seated. The staff is very friendly, the place is tight inside at the counter but there's some AC in there otherwise you'll be on the side in this outdoor area. So it's authentic Thai food served in good portions butbif you have a good appetite you could probably do two entrees by yourself...I recommend skipping the apps and trying more of the main dishes, the fried rice is amazing and the noodles with beef is so good, tender and delicious and the noodles are hand made. Baby back ribs are not what you'd expect, chopped into pieces and fried, same for the crispy duck salad. The smell from the curries make you drool, can't wait to go back and try some other items. Also not the times....they close at 3pm and reopen at 5pm...totally worth it though😊
I have been to Lung Yai at least 5 times in the past 2 years, and I can say without a doubt that it is the best place to go for Thai food in S. Florida. The portions are decent, but not overwhelming, and the flavor is on point. Get there right at noon, or else you will have to wait 30+ minutes for lunch. The seating is super limited, and you can only order one round, so plan accordingly. Food is dine in only, but you can take leftovers with you. No to go orders, though. Overall, its worth it for the wait. Pad See Ew is my favorite dish here, although the Pad Thai is also amazing - not too sweet or sour.
It is small place. So if you would like to eat there...most likely you have to wait. Most of the tables are for two to four people. There is one for larger parties. Indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking is available. It's definitely a place that you eat and leave. Anyway the chairs are not comfortable. But the food itself is delicious. There are vegetarian options. If you like a drink.. beer and wine available. I really enjoy my experience there.
I love this place! Tried the chicken wings which are so easy to devour, the chicken falls out smoothly off of the bone. The fried mushrooms are EXQUISITE. I had the green something curry which was also great. I highly doubt there's a thing bad here. Good is made right in front of you. They have red, white wine, Thailand beer only, Thai tea (favorite) and more. I had a nice ice cold beer to go with the food. No desserts, but still cool place to go enjoy warm, fresh, quality food made with love. ❤
Great place! Hole-in-the-wall kinda restaurant with great quick service, fantastic food, and good prices. We loved their Khao Soi and Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). Food came out quickly, wasn't too expensive for the area ($15 per dish) with generous serving sizes, and was really flavorful. Note, it's a very small restaurant with minimal seating. During popular times, there is a wait time to be seated. You can also order takeout from their website.
One of my all time favorite restaurants in Miami! A small local only spot that bring Calle Ocho to life. Walking in off the street you’re transported into an authentic Thai style food eatery. Everything on the menu is cooked fresh 10 feet away from you. The restaurant is family owned and operated. Really a perfect well rounded restaurant. Single order only! Make sure you over order or else you’ll be upset. Pro tip- Thai tea is amazing if you like sweet drinks.
This is one of my favorite Thai spots in the Miami area. I like how you are only able to order once. Portions are tapas sized which is nice because I can try lots of things. Best to come here in a large group and with people who are okay eating with some slice. Will continue to come back here. Good singha beer, in a bottle and maybe on draught.
Perfect spot for Thai food! It’s a small spot so wait times can be long , but that just tells you how great the food is. Ambiance is typical Thai vibes which makes it even more unique with its lighting. Pro tip: if you have groups of 4 + you might have to wait longer since space is limited. Get there early!
I wish the photos were better because I feel they don’t do the place justice. I knew from the moment I arrived this place was going to be good, from the look of the line of people waiting to eat here. Let me tell you… WORTH THE WAIT Where to begin: 🍖The ribs - delish 🍗The wings! - super 🍜Khoa Soi Noodles - the main reason we went here 🍚The fried rice with lump crab meat- *chefs kiss* 🍶The passion fruit sake - a little on the sweeter side but the only sake I will sip on over dinner. If you get the chance, try this place. You’ll be glad you did.
The food is sooo good! It’s just like eating in Thailand—authentic and full of flavor. I loved the baby ribs, and my husband said it’s the best Thai restaurant he’s ever had! One small thing: some customers were smoking cigarettes nearby. Luckily, we asked one of them politely if they could move away, and they did, so it didn’t ruin the mood too much. Overall, we had an amazing experience and will definitely come back!
The best thai food I've ever had in my life. The papaya salad (with a little added spice) and khao soi are MUST haves. we order multiple of everything. Pad thai also amazing with some spice. Cannot recommend enough. My favorite restaurant in miami and favorite thai food ever. Time it well since they don't take reservations. It's easier to go on a weeknight or for lunch.
Catching up with my dear friend Senen of 25 years and counting! We had lunch at Lung Yai Thai Tapas and if you haven’t been then you must go! Authentic Thai street food and it was delicious. Dishes we had were the Som Tam (Papaya Salad), Shrimp Dumplings, Khao Mam Kai, and Pad Thai with beef. Great spending time with you buddy and let’s plan again soon. I took leftovers to my hubby and he said -wow!
Tiny restaurant that packs a BIG punch 🤜 of FLAVOR!! Make sure you come early before the rush hours happen, you’ll be standing and waiting to be seated BUT it’s so WORTH it! I had one of the best services in this restaurant I will definitely be back to try everything on the menu my words can’t describe how amazing this food is ! It’s just worth the leap of faith to take eating here!
The best Thai restaurant in Miami according to my experience. The food was absolutely top class and the wait for the table was around 45 mins, so that explains alot about the place. The staff is very helpful and very welcoming. The best dish according to me was the duck with basil and the beef Pad thai. The massamam curry was great too. Overall one of the best experiences in Miami. I will definitely return for more exciting food. Keep up the good work.
Recommend going for lunch on a weekday to minimize your chances of having to wait to be seated. We were sat immediately and took a bit to look over the menu before ordering ( you can only order once). Pad Thai was delicious, one of the best I have had. We also enjoyed the duck salad even though it was slightly over seasoned but nonetheless delicious. Don’t think you can go wrong with ordering several plates for the table and sharing family style.
I recently visited Lung Yai Thai Tapas and had a pleasant experience overall. I ordered the Tom Yum Soup and Pad Kee Mao with tofu, and both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The soup had a nice balance of spice and tang, and the Pad Kee Mao was packed with fresh vegetables and rich flavors. I also ordered the chicken wings, but unfortunately, they were forgotten. Despite that small mishap, the food I did receive was delicious, and I’d definitely consider returning to try more of their menu. A solid choice for Thai food lovers!
The food is AMAZING and has so much flavor. Took me straight back to Thailand! I will be returning and possibly with a bigger appetite. The service was attentive and helpful. Loved everything about this place!
Loud music but delicious food. As my friend says they really try to turn over tables quickly which is great for people waiting but it means you are going to be a little rushed in leaving your table. Warning! You must order everything at once!!! No changing your order later. Will definitely be back, popular place for a good reason. Curry and dumplings are fantastic. Thai coffee was a winner too.
Authentic thailand experience! The second we walked up, we immediately felt like we were back in Thailand!! 10/10 everything. We got the fried pork dumplings, beef pad thai, and the beef khao soi. wooooooooow everything was out of this world good. I was craving pad thai and everything exceeded my expectations. This is more of a fast paced environment but who cares when the food is that good, I’ll take it. We also tried the passion fruit sake which was so refreshing!! Basch(sorry if I spelled his name wrong) was so awesome, we talked to him about our visit to Thailand and he gave us cool recommendations for when we decide to visit again. We will definitely be back, it’s too good to stay away!
One thing I appreciated was the fair pricing, especially for a Miami restaurant. The quality of the food, drinks, and service all felt like a great value, which can be hard to find in the city. The food was delicious but i didn’t like the rule, order on time and no more, even if we order different dishes still i wanted more to order but i couldn’t… 😣
I’m from Toronto, where legit Thai food is everywhere. That is not the case in Miami. This place is the real deal. Genuine mom-and-pop feel. No gimmicks. No “fancy” restaurant pretending to be something it’s not. Just authentic food that actually tastes like Thai food. So refreshing compared to the usual Miami spots where the vibe matters more than the food. This place clearly cares about flavor and authenticity, not impressing you with decor. I’ll be back.
Best Thai food in Miami Hands down ! If you come here at night , expect a wait as the place is small with limited seating . Staff is always kind and consistently refilling water and busing plates . You can only order once so make sure you get everything you want as everything on the menu is absolutely delightful.
Our family’s favorite Thai food in Miami—and that says a lot in a Latin-dominated food scene! Every dish is packed with bold, authentic flavor. The duck salad is incredible, the fried rice and soups never miss, and we love both the steamed and fried dumplings. Don’t skip the passion fruit alcoholic drink or the exquisite Thai tea. A true gem we keep coming back to!
Probably one of the better Thai food place I've ever had in Miami. The portions are pretty small so you have to order a few dishes. I love this concept because I can eat several dishes and not feel too full. Did you have a policy that you can only order one time. Please order wisely. Seating's pretty limited. I would recommend going at off peak times.
Service was great. We felt very well taken care of. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was top notch. I can’t wait to bring all of my friends here. The ones complaining about the single order policy don’t know what they’re talking about. This spot is amazing. Just order enough food to begin with and you’ll be fine. Everything was so so so amazing.
We had a very pleasant experience at this restaurant. The food is truly delicious — every dish met our expectations and matched the menu description perfectly. The sauces and soups especially stood out with their rich colors and deep flavors. The average check was about $20 per person, which is a great price for the quality. We will definitely come back!
Finally made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognized restaurant. Lots of hype and the food was great. The much talked about Khao Soi (noodles in curry from Northern Thailand) didn't disappoint! The spring rolls were piping hot and extra crispy. The steamed dumplings were good, but not spectacular. One drawback - they have a "one time order " policy - meaning you place your entire order all at once and if you're still hungry... well, too bad!
We enjoyed the food we ordered, pork dumplings & pork belly appetizers. Pad See Ew. Super tasty, fast & friendly service. Going on a Friday afternoon helped avoiding crowds.
Lung Yai Thai Tapas is hands down the most authentic Thai restaurant in Miami! The flavors are bold, fresh, and perfectly balanced. Our go-to order is always the Green Curry, Massaman Curry, Pad Thai, and Papaya Salad — each one is absolutely delicious and full of authentic Thai flavor. Just a tip: you can only order once, so make sure to take a look at the menu ahead of time and jot down what you’d like to try. Trust me, everything is worth it!
Average Thai food. No indoor sitting, only a few outdoor tables so no A/C. Not very appealing place. Tried 3 dishes , good but not spectacular as so many reviews say. I live in Kendall area where there is a very good Thai place. Staff was not rude but somewhat uncaring. Will give it 1 more try but only for takeout.
I love Thai food. This food is ok, but I would not say it’s amazing. The place is super simple. So I would say if you are not picky try it. Don’t expect to have the food you tried in Thailand and it will be ok. We came 25 min before closing and I understand that everyone was tired, but they made music so loud, that we tried to eat super fast and leave, for sure without any joy.
Nice little restaurant close to Little Havana. Tried their Crispy Mushroom and Khao Soi. The crispy mushrooms were a bit oily for my liking however Khao Soi was full of flavors and tasted really good!! This restaurant is great, if you just want to have good food and leave, but not the kind of place where you can have a relaxed meal. Staff encourages you to place the order only once and service is fairly quick ( more like rushed). We went here on a weekday, while we had to wait to be seated, but the waiting time wasn't too long.
Good, authentic feeling Thai place. Great addition to the area, especially since there aren't many good Asian options. This one hits the spot. It's got a heavy "street food" vibe and setting. The crowd skews younger as a result. There's only outdoor seating (either on the sidewalk or on the side of the building that has a covering). No indoor seating. The food is elevated and higher quality than I expected. We got the steamed shrimp dumplings (just normal shumai that you can get elsewhere. I'd skip it), crispy duck salad (very good and flavorful), and spicy calamari salad (also quite good with good spice). For our entrees, we got the crab and pork dry noodles (quite tasty. My wife commented that she's only seen that dish in 1 other Thai restaurant, so it must pretty legit, and it was great.) and a chicken curry (a bit too sweet for us even though we asked for it to be super spicy). 4 star type of place on Yelp for me. Total bill was $100 for 2 ppl with 2 beers.
Located in Little Havana, found parking in the street paying with the Pay by phone app, sat inside which is a narrow hall with no air conditioning so on a summer day you are sure to sweat. The food was outstanding, everything was delicious, the spicyness was just right. The servers were not very helpful but very fast, the food came out super fast and they came by very often to check on us. Would come back in the future to try more dishes.
This Thai tapas spot offers a fun and fast-paced dining experience. The service is highly dynamic—you place your order once, and that’s it. They have only one type of beer, no desserts, and as soon as you finish eating, the check arrives without you having to ask. Seating operates on a waitlist system, so be prepared to sign up upon arrival. Despite the unusual setup, the food was delicious, and the whole experience felt different from a typical restaurant visit. If you’re open to a more structured yet flavorful dining adventure, it’s definitely worth a try!
4.5 stars for this lovely spot! Incredibly tasty dishes, and super fast service! Recommend the green curry and clear noodle dishes. You’re only allowed to order once, but food comes out fast. Try the passion fruit sake for a delicious drink. Small and bustling atmosphere, the music was just a tad too loud though. Overall, definitely a spot i would recommend for some tasty thai cuisine.
Very interesting and tasty place. Off the main area and very nonchalant appearance is not an obstacle to make this place very busy. So reservation is highly recommended. Also you have to order all of your food at once, you will not be able to add any dishes once your order is placed. Like I said the food is very tasty I really liked their fried mushrooms, crab and curry noodles. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because the way they treated as once they see that we about to finish our food. They have asked at leat 5 times if need the check and almost took away unfinished food, kind of forcing us to leave as plenty of people were waiting. The place is popular, but I personally don't like this kind of pressure
The best food in Calle 8 is not Cuban 🇨🇺, it is Thai 🇹🇭! Yes believe it or not this modest street food Thai spot has everyone crazy about it 😵💫. They are a little bit pretentious in terms of booking ahead (so they don’t take any reservations), and they also are very strict in terms of ordering one time only 🫡, but it is designed that way so they can serve the most amount of people in the limited space of the area. So yes, you need to put up with the rules if you would like to enjoy their unique flavoring. We immediately went with the Roasted Baby Back Ribs 🍖, they were crispy and the sauce spiced up the flavoring, but it didn’t have that much meat in it, so disappointing. The crispy fried oyster 🦪mushroom 🍄sauce appetizer took over the ribs as a winner appetizer. The dipping sauce was on point and fried to the point to hear it crack 💥with every bite. The best dish was waiting for us, the khao soi—a bowl of egg 🍳noodles in a golden curry that tastes the way a hot shower feels. Get it with braised beef 🥩! The crispy noodles 🍜are the cherry 🍒on the top! Delicious in every sense. Their classic pad Thai is also very legit 🥡🥢. Fresh in flavor and combines all the right condiments. To wrap up the main entrances, we included a crab 🦀fried 🍚. Well balanced but missing a lot of crab meat in it. Be prepare to pay the old school way, they don’t accept 🍏💰apple pay! Overall an unexpected experience in Little Havana 🏝️. It reminded me of the Seinfield episode of the soup 🥫nazi because of their strict ordering system, service, and their quick-paced ambiance.
As a New Yorker in Miami for a few days, it was hard for me to find good Asian food, let alone Thai food, that satisfies my standards. When I discovered this place on Yelp, I had to find out for myself if the food justified the hype. Upon arriving in the area, I had trouble spotting the establishment because it is a small place; however, we only had to wait a few minutes to grab a table. If a fast-paced atmosphere with loud music is not to your taste, then go elsewhere because this place embodied a high-energy, high table turnover business model. The waiter suggested the Fried Pork Belly for starters, and we ordered Massaman Curry, Khao Soi Gai, Beef Noodle Soup, and Thai Basil Rice for mains. The food arrived promptly, and the service was attentive. The Fried Pork Belly had the right amount of crisp and was not overdone. My mom would like it to be crispier, but I guess you can't please everyone. I had the Beef Noodle Soup, and it was pretty good. My dad, who seems to be a chronic critic, did not say a word and just continued eating his Thai Basil Rice, which was also a good sign. At the near end of our meal, we were given the check without asking for it, but considering this small establishment with about a dozen or so seatings, I understood a high table turnover is important. Coming from NYC, where there is a competitive Thai food scene, I can say that Lung Yai Thai Tapas is up to par with many good Thai restaurants in NYC. I'm glad to know where to get good Asian food whenever I'm back in Miami!
coming from an Asian, I can confirm that this is very authentic Thai in Miami!! I will say though that the portions are small and seating is very tiny and limited. The pad Thai was delicious and full of flavor, and the panang curry was creamy and sweet with a side of white rice. Duck noodles was also really good! The fried rice however was kinda salty but I like how it comes with lime at least to balance that. The servers were also friendly and it was nice that we could make conversation with them :) it’s a bummer though that we can order once though, because their food is too good!
The most incredible hole in the wall! Even though there was a wait time of 1.5h it was def worth it. The ambiance was incredible, makes you feel in Thailand. The food was great too, the servers are so helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes. I'd def recommend the chicken wings, curry, and their Thai tea! The Thai tea has to be THE BEST IN MIAMI, absolutely incredible. Would def go back.
A Secret spot for Thai food lovers in Miami, Good prices, you will not regret it. Not a fancy place but busy, food is extremely good and prices are affordable, located in Little Habana. Try the Grilled Pork, Crispy spring rolls, Pad Thai, we loved the Red Curry. Drinks Singha beer or Thai coffee. Make sure to be prepared to wait since sometimes you will have to wait for a table. This Michelin star restaurant doesn’t say much just by looking at it but the food here is Michelin worthy. We got there at 6 PM, and there was no wait time. The restaurant is small and seating is limited. The service was amazing as the staff were very attentive. To drink, I had the Thai tea and it was delicious. To eat, I tried the Khao Soi and it was so tasty. The crispy noodles paired wonderfully with the egg noodles. I also tried the Khao Mam Kai. At first, the chicken looked bland on top of the white rice but once you pour the sauce on top and try it with the cucumber, it’s a game changer. The soup was also good but it’s very light. I would order the Khao Soi again in a heartbeat but I wouldn’t order the Khao Mam Kai, even thought it was delicious. I prefer food that has more flavor. When we were leaving, the restaurant was getting full. I would definitely return to this establishment as I would love to try other items from their menu. The only reason I’m not giving this restaurant 5 stars is because it’s very tight.
The food is amazing. Moo Manoun is a spicy salad (very spicy) but no so good. Khao Soi is delicious and Pad Thai is good. The service is horrible and the place normal
Over priced. They have a good reputation, however it is based on what they used to do five years ago. They are now only interested in making money and not on giving you an authentic Thai experience..
Went here on a Sunday evening so didn't have an issue getting seated for my party of 4. Ordered the chicken wings, which were a bit dry but otherwise tasty. Also ordered the Pad Kee Mao, which was fine but nothing special. It lacked spice and flavor IMO, so I expected more from this place given the other reviews. My friends enjoyed their Pad Thai though, so maybe it's dish-specific.
Gave this place a third chance and I can’t understand why it got a michelin star. Spring rolls and fried mushrooms are excessively oily, multiple soups are very sugary (!!) and the pad see ew noodles were some of the worst I’ve had - but the red curry and pad Thai are good. Flavors are generally good nothing special and they charge you for a small portion of extra rice, which is always a sign that a restaurant has jumped the shark. The environment and service are just awful too. You’re on tiny dirty patio tables with small water cups, so they are constantly reaching across your face, and they bring out one dish at a time in no particular order. Not worth driving across town, much less across the state.
Being Asian and having lived most of my life out in Asia, I love Thai food. Lung Yai is run by Thai people both in the kitchen and the dining areas, so you’re getting authentic Thai food. But whether or not it deserves the Michelin 2023 recognition it was awarded is something I’m not particularly sure of. I ordered the Khai Sow as well as the clear Tom Yum with shrimp. I was rather taken aback that the Tom Yum was ANYTHING BUT Tom Yum. Tom Yum is spicy and sour, slightly oily and with distinct flavours of galangal and lemongrass. What was served lack flavour and tasted like ordinary Asian soup. The Khai Sow was alright, nothing spectacular, just passable; I’ve had better in Boston. The pork in the Khai Sow was also bland and overcooked, giving it a tough texture. The dining area is set up so it emulates street dining in Thailand so it’s non air-conditioned; I presume it could get pretty hot during the day. It is basically a side alley covered up by fabric awning and a side fence made out of tin. Thai music was also blasting loudly to the point it is hard to hold a conversation. Will I be back? prob not - but as far as Thai food goes in Miami, this is prob as real as you can get it. Also, for a modern-day eatery that doesn’t have physical menu, the lack of Apple Pay/contactless payment is a turn off. It is indicated in the menu that an 18% gratuity charge is applied to the bill, but this wasn’t enforced when I made payment.
Limited uncomfortable seating, small portions, must order everything at one time. We went for dinner and sat outside. The tables are folding type that have slats. If you have a beverage like a beer and it's not perfectly set it will tip over very annoying. The food quality was good in the flavors were good. I found the portion sizes to be on the small size. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back there it was just okay.
This place is located calle 8; make up your mind and order everything you think you’ll need and take the best with you. Why? This place has a onetime order policy and you can’t order anything else. The only exception is rice and beer and possibly drinks. The Tom Yum is littered with mushrooms, no tomatoes visible, and it lacks galangal and lime leaves; could use some more tamarind, and it comes without spice for those who find bell peppers and mayo spicy. The waiter Chris offered to get me some pepper, which gave it the spice I needed. The duck salad was good, but it was a small portion for the price.
cannot add any dishes after the first order (they ask us to order all the food we want at one time). Dishes are really small Bad attitude when I came back this year, feels like they think they got enough customers and not care about the reputations after all. Overpriced for the meat just from cans. Thai tea really sweet like just syrup + water.
I went to Lung Yai for my small birthday dinner last weekend and we were served chicken with a side of attitude. I’ve posted my friend’s review below for context, but as someone who was prepared to become a regular at Yung Lai, it’s disappointing to know that there is no culture of honesty nor accountability, and instead they choose to foster an environment of blatant hostility. Every modification request should be taken seriously—and any failure to fulfill or correct a modification on the part of the server should never be the customer’s responsibility. Especially because people in fact *can* be allergic to chicken. — I ordered pad kee maw tofu and received it with chicken, no big deal it was a busy Saturday night. Got it back again, now with tofu, but mid bowl bit a piece of chicken. Called back the server and he said “yes, I picked out the chicken, I tried my best”. He did not offer to take it back, tbh I was uncomfortable so I decided to swallow my discomfort. We receive the bill and the item is still on the check. My friend kindly requests it be taken off, as the order was made incorrect twice - he then proceeds to argue with us for 5 minutes and said he couldn’t take it back because “no one would want it” as I ordered it spicy. As we are discussing he says “why didn’t you tell me sooner” as if I did not call him to the table TWICE. As my server, it is his responsibility to offer ME service, I should not be directing him how to fix the situation. He then told us several times he would not serve us again, saying he didn’t want to argue while actively arguing with us.

I have never been to a restaurant that so aggressively pushed the diners out the door. During our entire meal, extremely bad Thai teen pop was pumping through speakers. Conversation was possible only by shouting. Strobe lights were going crazy. Our bill arrived minutes after the meal was served. Three times waiters attempted to remove my plate while I was still eating. In the end, a waiter came over, told us people were waiting for a table, packed the leftovers into a box, and basically pushed us out the door. (We had not been in the place for even an hour, after a 40-minute wait.) The food is good
Not impressed, So what you are a Michelin star restaurant Don’t believes the hype. I want to be completely honest and transparent. I'm a world traveler who has visited over 100 countries and eaten at millions of restaurants all around the world. At 60 years old, I've been to Thailand five times and even speak a little Thai a took thai cooking lessons while in Bangkok. Love Thai people and culture but these folk the staff here were not nice. Each customer is paying $100 -$200 for a meal. We visited a restaurant without knowing it was Michelin-starred until we saw the review in the window. It looks like a real Thai street restaurant which you can eat at in Thailand for $6 get a whole meal so when I saw are bill was $50 and we were still Hungry That didn’t sit well with me. From the moment our waitress approached our table, she had an attitude. She informed us that we could only order once, so we needed to choose carefully. However, she failed to mention that the portions were very small, like cereal-sized bowls. We also didn't scan the barcode menu, assuming that, like most Thai restaurants I've been to worldwide, dishes would cost around $13-$16 for a large plate of food. I didn't check the menu and ordered my usual: padi thai noodles, not too spicy, with no bean sprouts, nuts on the side, and two limes. I also ordered a Thai iced tea with no ice, explaining that since the tea is cold due to the cream, it doesn't need ice. She argued with me about the ice until I reluctantly agreed to a little. However, they filled the glass with ice, a tactic to make you order more of this delicious tea at $5 per glass. Full of ice and very little 🧋 tea. Learned this trick in Thailand. When the food arrived, I was shot and surprised with disappointment it was just two small cereal-sized bowls for $50. We left hungry and walked up the street to order Cuban food. We left hungry because I didn't realize the portions were so small. The waitress didn't inform us, and since it was my first time there, I didn't read the menu thoroughly. When I asked for an extra bowl to share with my date, she said no. Extra napkins? Also no. They did bring more water, but it was tap water, which I don't drink tap water. The food was delicious, but the waitress's attitude was terrible. I made sure to note this on the receipt, advising her No tip she wax rude play silly games Nita get silly prizes Will never return and I would not recommend it for $50 there are much better places in town to leave full. It’s a swipe left NO for me. Nita and the staff need to be nicer we pay their salaries!
Rude, made up rules that didn’t make sense. Food is good though: Edit, seems they give a Michelin star to anyone nowadays. I expect a $17 dish to be a bit more than a small bowl of pad thai. One of their specialties as well was quite pricey and consisted of very bland chicken and rice. I got catfished by the mushrooms, which I will give credit, are very yummy.
2.35⭐️I heard a lot of hype about this place. It looks like a hidden gem, and I was excited about it! The bench we were sitting on was “dancing,” because you had to sit together on it with other guests, but still better than other seating, which are folding small chairs. They are uncomfortable and shaky/unstable, both for you and your food. The floors are dirty, and overall, it doesn’t look hygienic. And if you sit outside, I feel even worse for you. Starting with Crispy Rolls, which came cold in the middle, but after addressing that, they replaced it, which was fair. All in all, average Thai food, nothing special. “One-time order” is there for fast $$$$ turnaround and so they can get rid of you fast. “Trying to accommodate everyone“ is a lame excuse. I never saw that in my life. I don’t understand how that is acceptable in the hospitality business. Ultimately kills customer satisfaction, experience, and enjoyment We felt rushed, plus the obnoxiously loud music makes you leave faster. 18% gratuity included for poor and unfriendly service; not all of them, some guys from the kitchen are nice. The portions were small and expensive. Food was okay but nothing special, but four people left hungry after spending $137. Not worth a 30-minute wait, and I see some people wait even more. I don’t understand how people say this is “the best Thai in Miami.” Did you ever have Thai? I was really hoping this to be a gem, a hole in a wall, but I can’t lie to you…
La comida está muy buena pero eso de comer con prisas no me gusta. No volvería al restaurante pero si pediría para llevar
They do have Apple pay but they don’t want to accept it because “you can cancel the transaction any time”, even if I was using a debit card. The food is ok, not bad, not excellent, for sure overpriced. If you want to spend your night arguing with the owner, this is the place! (He even asked to take a picture of my ID in order to pay, violating my privacy just for ignorance).
I had a decent dinner, the food was good, nothing extraordinary, though I would mention that the dumplings are really small. Everything was fine until it was time to pay. I explained that I had lost my physical debit card and needed to pay with Apple Pay. The waiter was kind and tried to help, but when he checked with his boss, the situation got crazy. The manager started yelling in Thai at the waiter and then at me and my friend. He kept insisting that they don’t accept Apple Pay because “people cancel the transaction afterward.” I tried to explain and even showed him that the card connected to my Apple Pay was a debit card, and the payment couldn’t just be “canceled,” but he didn’t listen and continued to yell. Eventually he allowed the payment, but then took a photo of my friend’s ID “to make sure we wouldn’t delete the payment,” which felt completely unnecessary and uncomfortable. As we were getting ready to leave, we returned to our table and noticed our beers had disappeared. After we complained and screamed to his waiter, he seemed annoyed but gave us two new beers. So… thank you for that, I guess.
Service sucks, they make you put all your order at once. I really liked the food but they didn’t let me order more and were super super rude about it telling me they had already told us it’s a “one time order”. Very weird. When I complained at the end saying I was still hungry and wanted to order more they said “well, that’s the rule”. The place was not even full there were plenty of empty seats available.
Terrible experience. We had visited the place a few months ago, and the food wasn’t good, but we decided to give it another chance, and this time it was worse. Don’t waste your money at this place. We ordered coconut shrimp, and besides being overly fried, they had no flavor at all—just tasted like fried batter. When we ordered, the food for the person I was with took 20 minutes to arrive. I finished my food, and theirs still hadn’t arrived. When it finally did, the meat was the size of a finger, and their dish, a Thai basil, had no protein either. There are many better places in Miami to eat Asian and Thai food than this one. Don’t waste your money here. I don’t understand how it could have a Michelin star.
Worst customer service I have experienced in my life! The owner is just like the “soup nazi” character from Seinfeld. Treats customers soooo poorly. He is disrespectful and rude. i would not come back to this restaurant even if the food was free. Needless to say, I don’t recommend this place at all.
The music was excessively loud and unpleasant, causing discomfort to both my ears and heart. The owner was very rude. On one occasion, a swift departure from the establishment was necessitated due to an amalgamation of a one time order and the disruptive volume of the music. The cuisine, unfortunately, fell below expectations with excessive saltiness and instances of overcooking in certain dishes. The soup presented an unusual taste. Additionally, they attempted to clear the table, even if we had not completed the meal. The pricing structure is not reasonable considering the subpar environment and service, further compounded by a mandatory 18% tip imposition.
Please avoid this place at all costs! The food is horrible, and the service is just as bad. I ordered a ‘chef’s recommendation,’ and it was plain white rice with a boiled slice of chicken on top and a dressing overloaded with salt! Then we ordered baby ribs that were burnt and also way too salty. The duck salad was terrible! Overall, the worst dining experience I’ve had in Miami!
Place was good. The MANAGER they have is TERRIBLE he was soooo RUDEE with us. We asked twice about our table and he start racing his voice. I told him it was not nice to treat us like that and he said he doesnt care. Get a good manager.
The food was good but the service horrible. You’re forced to decide what you want immediately and as soon as we asked for the check we were asked to hurry because they needed the table. 18 percent gratuity is automatically added with an additional tip column; 15 percent would have been generous considering how poor the service is. Also, no diet soda so people who are diabetic can only drink water; God forbid you bring your own soda. Definitely won’t be going back.
Service is terrible. Music is insanely obnoxious and I asked them to turn it down and so did other groups and they told us all no. The owner was rude. Food is good, I’ll give them that, but in no world should they have a Michelin star with the way they treated us. They are trying to become more of a club than a good authentic local Thai restaurant which they should be. Sad to see. Hopefully they make changes.
