L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

Well short on getting a meal in Maui or North shore Oahu, this is a great substitute. This is a chain, but they do it well as far as food is concerned. Their short ribs are excellent, tender, bbqued just well enough where the meat is tender and moist, and the glaze coating is cooked well into the meat. I ordered the mixed combo which included 6 fried shrimp, the short ribs as well a fish filet, and bbq chicken slices. White steamed rice, some cabbage as well as their famous macaroni salad. I just love this macaroni salad. It is just the right mixture of mayonnaise, pasta and chicken. Sometimes I order just a large macaroni salad and that is so satisfying. The fish filet was also good, very tasty not fishy taste or smell. I think they use a fish that is native to Vietnam. Different from talipia or cod but better tasting. I don't know know, maybe it the light batter. Anyways as always a subjective review and observations, but I think you will like it. No drink included. But the manager threw in a free drink. How nice!

Chicken Katsu is definitely one of my favorite comfort dishes. I have not had it in while and I really miss. L&L Hawaiian BBQ does a great job in making it. The chicken is Crispy and perfectly tender. The portion is huge and generous. The Katsu sauce is a great combination of sweet and sour, but I add another layer of flavor by dipping it in Sriracha. The macaroni salad complimentes the chicken and rice really well. I splurge and also got the Spam Musubi, which was also good. For dessert, I got the Guava Macadamia short bread cookies. It was a great way to complete and end my meal. Can't wait to come back to try the Hawaiian BBQ mix. They have tables and chairs outside for outdoor dining. Pro Tip: I can never finish everything in one sitting, so when I reheat it I use an air fryer to reheat it because it makes it crispy again. @LLHawaiianBBQ

Second location I've been to of this chain and overall it was solid. Had their seafood combo with chicken, while nothing was stand out amongst the three, all where pretty good. Their chicken katsu musubi while pricy was great. Their mac salad while decent was a bit loose. Pricing is pretty in line as well so would recommend.

Customer service is always great and has food ready when I pickup. Food is always tasty as well. I wish L&L offered online ordering to avoid having to pay in store.

Good little place, BBQ mix was good. Short ribs were a little tough but good flavor. Macaroni was a good surprise.

The food taste different here than any other chain I've eaten at. It's not bad, but it is odd. Also their barbecue chicken bowl has more vegetables, I actually like how the other chains use only carrots and broccoli, the few peas and corn really don't add much to the plate.

This place never fails me whenever I crave fried, greasy goodness over rice plus some macaroni salad. The service here is consistently good. They can take a little bit long sometimes in getting the food out but I guess that just reinforces me to learn to be patient. I love their chicken katsu plate! The chicken is always crisp and they give a heaping portion of it. I can never finish an entire plate but I'm not complaining. I also really like their longanisa with eggs over rice. It's not the best longanisa ever but it hits the spot when I want something sweet and savory :)

First time going here at this location . Menu easy to read. Nice friendly aloha atmosphere. Family oriented. Good food.

First of all, let me say that the service was kind and friendly. I went with my daughter, who the employees engaged with in a sweet manner from entrance to exit. It helped that we were the only customers, but for the employees to be so engaged at a slow time says something about the establishment. Now, the location is old and not the cleanest. But L&L has always been more of a grab n' go place. For the 20+ years I've been to these restaurants, from Southern to Northern California, I've rarely seen people eat in them. None of them have been very clean. We come for the generous portions, macaroni salad and luau luau pork they cook upon order.

Ok. The beef in the beef plate was rather chewy and stuck together with tendon. Probably shoulda got another dish. Did not have teriyaki chicken on the menu.

Food was not so Great. Grilled BBQ Chicken didn't taste so good at this location. Service was fast but the staffs taking the order is not that friendly. Don't greet customers. I have being here 3 times it's being the same everything. I just go here when I don't have any options as it's close by my work.

Pretty mediocre for Hawaian BBQ. I had the BBQ beef plate. The meat was kind of bland with lots of gristle strands through it. Macaroni salad was mediocre too. Does not have enough mayo to bind the macaroni together and make it creamer. Such an important part of Hawaiian BBQ... the meal wasn't disgusting and I did gobble it down but is was pretty so so...

We occasionally eat here. This time I tried the chicken tonkotsu with my daughter. Portion was generous. Batter was crunchy and chicken was tender in the middle. Rice was not dry or soggy. Nothing really stood out but decently good, 3.5/5.

This place exceeded expectations. I ordered fried shrimp and french fries. It was reasonably good. I've certainly had better fried shrimp, but this wasn't too bad., And I have to say it did not look appetizing. He only ate a few pieces, and that's unusual. Hawaiian BBQ was not my first choice for dinner. But it worked out in the long run.

The food is decent but seriously over priced. I ordered a bbq mix and small soda for 20$. It should have cost 12.00 with the soda. I used to go there at least 3-4 times per week, now I will go maybe 1x per month. You got to give the customers value otherwise, they are going to eat at home or get a nice tasty burrito for 10.00.

Good food. Nice friendly staff. 3 stars because prices are too high and menu is limited compared to other Hawaiian spots. They should include a drink with every meal for these high prices.

The flavor is good. But you'll regret to have eaten it afterwards. Very greasy, and not really good quality of food. I'm definitely not coming back.

L&L usually is really good, but unfortunately this is not one of those better establishments. When I got there it wasn't that busy, so I ordered a BBQ mix combination with steamed vegetables instead of macaroni salad. That meant there was going to be three different kinds of meat. The chicken was cold because I guess it was done first and the other pieces we're hot so I returned the chicken to get reheated they took the whole plate and reheated it which was fine. However the short ribs were super fatty and super thin nothing could be cut with a knife cuz everything was too gooey and chewy. The rice however was super dry! Like it has been sitting in the pot all day and they just took the top layer and dished it to me! The steamed vegetables...were frozen vegetables! They were basically unedible and cold and chewy. This was a horrible experience and the guy at the counter didn't smile much either. Don't recommend this L&L for those that like Hawaiian BBQ

Terrible service. Got kicked out by the owner disrespectfully because we entered with a dog, even when there was no sign clarifying it anywhere and we got welcomed by the waiters before. Even after we apologized, he was disrespectful and answered back at us. I feel bad for their employees.

Visiting here from Sacramento. Went into this L&L at 845pm on a Sunday. Was told "Just to let you know, we close at 9pm." Food was ready in 10 mins but was told "We packed your food to go because you have to leave." IS THAT THE WAY YOU TREAT CUSTOMERS? We intended to eat in, but were chased out. Beware potential customers.

The owner kicked me and my friends out because of coming in with my service dog. He holds no signs on the wall saying that service dogs or pets are not allowed. Not going back again.

Although I went in 10 minutes after opening, the food was horrible. The chicken I received was extremely dry and almost seemed "bottom of the barrel" because there was so much fat. Everyone has great reviews of this place, BUT I had a different experience.

I’m sorry but the price for what someone would pay is not the best. The lunch special is so expensive for $12 for something small and needs to bring in more clean items or offer packets of condiments ready to go.

The worst Hawaiian bbq I’ve been to. Terrible Mac salad and over marinated chicken. At the end of the day, I realize something in that plate was bad, because I have a poisoning. What a shame!

Owner needs to show more care about how their serving to their customers. This place needs to be inspected. Very disappointing when your hungry & had to throw the food away.

Ordered their "garlic rice" Not recommended, it's literally spoonfuls of garlic powder, nothing else, just haphazardly tossed on top of the rice. Just skip the wait and eat garlic powder for the same effect. Undertrained staff, very unhelpful in all regards.
