Stopped by for lunch at noon on a weekday. Did not have to wait and was seated immediately. I would recommend sitting farther in, away from the front door, as a blast of cold air (it's November right now) will hit you every time the door is opened. I ordered #20 Bun Bo Hue and it was pretty good. As you can see in the photo, there's plenty of meat included and I appreciate the time taken on the presentation.
This morning, the staff provided good and friendly service, and the restaurant’s food was delicious, but it was a bit bland, so it could be adjusted slightly. Thank you, Thien.
Food came out fast and tasted great. Service was 10/10. Will be going back for sure.
Best pork bahn mie I've ever had. Nice portion of meat, bread was perfect and tasty vegetables in it.
My son recommended this place. He said it’s the best Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Very authentic same taste as the food he had when he visited Da Nang. I have to try their other dishes next time. The tea they serve is extraordinary, the best! The owner is super nice! Didn’t know they have been in this location for 17 years! Great food, great service!
I ordered Pha Lau from Ha here. It’s so satisfying to eat with warm bread. Highly recommend if you haven’t try!
My family and I have been back multiple times at this point. We always come back for the banh canh cua. It is just the right thickness of broth and just so tasty. We usually pair it with banh khot. The only other dishes we have had here was the vermicelli noodles and those were also very good. Big portions and the fried egg rolls are 👌. As a tip for families, who want to eat the banh canh cua and want to try other dishes, you can order the large size and easily split it 3-4 ways.
I ordered from Doordash so I didn’t take pictures. But the banh khot was delicious and tasted pretty authentic, compared to other restaurants in San Jose. I think it could be a little bit crispier but I highly recommend this restaurant if you want something tasted like what you find in Vietnam
Great place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. I did not read any reviews before and decided to be adventurous. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection with balanced flavor and very fresh. I highly recommend the Tra Thai Tea, Cha Gio rolls and Bank Xeo … good for 2 people for sure!
Almost forgot this was the whole point! 🇻🇳🍜✨ Being foodies, we eat at so many different places we forget about the food we grew up with sometimes. @truongthanhrestaurant is an OG spot that serves delicious and flavorful Vietnamese dishes we all know and love growing up. We felt right at home after just one bite. They’re known for their Banh Canh but don’t skip out on their Mi Thai! Egg noodles with hugeeee prawns. With a huge selection of dishes and drinks, there’s definitely something for everyone for family fun.
Cozy atmosphere with the best crab udon noodle. Just get the crab noodle and you will be happy and shut up while eating it.
We brought my brother to try rice paper cha gio, banh khot, bun and hu tieu. All were flavorful. Coffee was phin. Service was nice and helpful. Tried cold coconut juice, when you finish the juice, ask them to cut it in half to scrape the meat. Also had banh xeo this visit, nice and crispy, good texture.
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant, despite all of the many delicious Vietnamese Restaurants in all of The South Bay Area/San Jose, CA. They get very busy at times, but the food always comes out nice and hot. My friend put me on to this place before he moved back to New York. And now it is my favorite place to go to, and specifically because they serve my favorite dish; Com Bo Luc Lac. It is extremely delicious, especially if you get it with the red rice; served with the egg on top 🤤😋 I brought my dad here for his first time, and he loved the Beef Stew. He hadn't had Beef Stew in a long time, and he said it was very delicious. Once again this is my go-to place for my favorite Vietnamese dish Com Bo Luc Lac. I've had it elsewhere and it was good, but didn't have the same taste as here 😌😋🔒
We tried bun thit nuong cha gio at different restaurants. This is one of the restaurants to enjoy the dish of caramelized fried onions over crispy Vietnamese cha gio and a good portion of thit nuong over noodle. Wish there was mints to compliment this dish. Overall, we had a pleasant experience at this traditional Vietnamese restaurant. Waiters even wore traditional outfits! Will definitely come back when in San Jose.
So good. Light, fresh and authentic. Not heavy or oily. Loved the #11. Egg noodle soup combination!
For context, I am very picky with Viet food because I was born and grew up overseas in VN. By far, this is the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve encountered in the South Bay Food: 1)bánh canh—amazing! Broth was as thick as it could be (and how it should be) 2)bánh khọt—light and airy! Their accompanied dipping (fish) sauce though was unique and just a perfect addition on top of the banh khot 3)bún thịt nướng tôm—perfect balance of noodles and proteins (shrimp, bbq pork, eggroll) Ambience: Beautifully crafted decor that reminded me of my time living in Saigon The servers also wear the traditional đồ bộ aka outfits you would see in the countryside of vn Service: Great service, very attentive. They’re a bit short staffed but it wasn’t a big problem for us.
I know this restaurant for many years. The food quality improved so much in the past several years. My favorite dishes are the Vietnamese crepe, egg noodle soup, Vietnamese udon, and more. Good portion, yummy food, fresh vegetable and ingredients, reasonable price, no card surcharges, good customer service.

Five stars. Truong Thanh is a solid Vietnamese spot with a calm, no fuss vibe and really comforting food. The service was friendly and quick, the dining room was clean, and the portions were generous for the price. The bánh khọt came out hot and crispy with a nice turmeric flavor, and the herbs and dipping sauce made it feel fresh and balanced. The pho was also excellent, rich broth, good meat, and everything tasted like it was cooked with care. Very kind people. Easy place to come back to when you want a reliable Vietnamese meal without the hype.
I come here every few weeks and usually get the Pho Tai or com tam suon nuong (grilled pork chop over rice). I always enjoy the food and never had a bad experience. In the evening, there are always people inside, but I never had to wait. Servers are always very polite and helpful. Last time i was here, Nghiep was very helpful when explaining to my friend how to drink the soda sua hot ga she ordered, as it's served unmixed so you can proportion it to taste more or less sweet.

The first and best place I've had banh canh! 🤤 Super glad an old coworker showed me this place, because the thick noodle dishes here are so comforting. My go to dish is #2 Banh Canh Ga, which is tapioca noodles with chicken soup. The dish comes with delicious chicken soup, slices of chicken, and it's topped with fried onions to elevate the flavor. Staffing seems low so service can be slow as a result. Parking here can be volatile, so hope you can get lucky snagging a spot. Otherwise, there's street parking as well.
Quaint restaurant with solid banh canh. We also got the ga roti which had great flavor but the chicken was a little small /: we also got their spring rolls which we enjoyed as well. I also really really liked their Che 3 Mau (shaved ice dessert with red beans and mung bean), the red beans were cooked well and it wasn't too sweet (huge plus for me). Didn't get any photos cause we ate too quickly. Shout out to the waiters for being so nice despite the many other tables they had to take care of too
A friend and I saw an Instagram reel for this place and I really wanted to try. We made it happen and got two more friends to join for dinner. The crispy egg rolls were pretty tasty. I’ve had ones just like those. The Banh Khot was good too. The Instagram video mentioned a pandan tea that I did not see on the menu so I asked for it. It tasted pretty good. I don’t see this in other Vietnamese places so it felt unique. The main thing I wanted to try was their signature dish: Banh Canh Cua - Vietnamese udon with Dungeness crab, pork slices, and shrimp strips. This was my first time trying something like that. It tasted pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. Also saw a sign for a dish that we couldn’t understand. The server did not know how to explain what it was in English initially. Came back and told us it was beef offals. I’ve had beef offals in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cuisines, but not Vietnamese. The food here was pretty good, but a bit steep if we are just eating Vietnamese “street foods.”
Food: I saw someone recommended this place on social media and took my chance to swing by when I’m having a craving for Vietnamese food. Everything we ordered tasted great! The portion is good and price is fair as well. Will definitely want to try more things on the menu! Service: there were only 2 staff taking care of this small restaurant and they were super busy but one of them is very welcoming and helpful; we’re grateful:) Ambiance: the decoration is very relaxing and interesting at the same time. Hope they can mop the floor cleaner because it feels greasy. The rest is great!
Banh Canh Cua is soooo good. Definitely order some Chinese Donuts to soak up the gravy-like broth. So savory and flavorful. The noodles were perfectly chewy and this was overall just a deliciously hearty dish. Made me feel warm and fuzzy. Don't sleep on the Thai-style Egg Noodles! (Mi Thai Truong Thanh) Actually blew my mind! The pasty sauce is a little sweet and spicy. However, the fried jumbo prawns? INSANELY GOOD. I was addicted to this. If you're not in the mood for banh canh, order this!!! I have to admit that the prices are a little high, but it's one of the few specialized Vietnamese restaurants in the Milpitas area. I would come back!
Nice vietnamese restaurant in Milpitas. I have been in this area many times but never stopped by as every time I saw the restaurant was empty. I came today with friends and glad we gave it a try. The food was yummy. We ordered 1, 3, 18, and 31. All are yummy. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived but was almost full when we left. Service is a bit slow when there are many customers, as it looks like only 2 people serving all the customers.
Try their Truong Thanh Thai Noodle, not so bad but could be better. Bun Mam is good, flavor is on point, and is a lot better than other places. -2 stars for noodle being a bit under cook. Overall m, great services and atmosphere 👍
I had a decent dining experience at Truong Thanh Restaurant. The food was flavorful and authentic, I had ordered the com ga Hai Nam and fresh banh khot. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. The service was friendly and attentive, though it took a bit longer than expected for our food to arrive. The atmosphere was cozy, but it could use a little more lighting.
Most foods are really good. Bánh khot and cảnh gà chiên nước mắm i like a lot. Parking is okay. I will try more items. I do recommend this place.

What happened to this restaurant? The food quality has gone down substantially since the last time I came here a couple years ago. Their specialty "Banh Canh Cua" now tastes very bland and replaced with subpar toppings. Service is also worse than before. The young waiter that serviced our table only mumbled in his mouth that it was difficult to hear what he said. He wasn't very attentive as well. Everything was very mediocre compared to a couple years ago.
If you are looking for vegetarian Pho, then this is not the right place. It had no flavor at all. We have had vegetarian and vegan one before but this one was tasteless. Our vegetarian entree also wasn’t tasty and it was gluey
The chicken noodle soup was ok but too salty. The grilled beef rice was really good I wasn’t know that was also kind of Vietnamese food. Lunch hour was long Q avoid the rush hour go after 1pm.
Most of the Vietnamese restaurants close around 8pm on Saturday night but I found this Truong Thanh Vietnamese Restaurant still opened. We were excited but the food and service were bad. These young guys seem new to their jobs. They brought out pho but no vegetables. Com tam but no nuoc man (fish source). The food were not great as salty meat and pho soup not smelled and tasted as good. The environment was quiet and nice.
Had the banh canh cua (crab noodle soup) but the soup was really watered down. They do this to try to stretch out the soup to serve more bowls. The soup is supposed to be thick. My wife asked for no onions but both bowls showed up with onions. It's not worth it at $20 a bowl. Also they tried to set the minimum tip at 18%...you better take the 10% tip and be happy or next time you're not getting anything at all.

This review is strictly for Bun Rieu. For the price, it was nowhere near good and portion disappointed. This specific entry needs a lot of work from the kitchen. Really disappointed :(
Really expensive. Pho or vermicelli is at least $16 each. Egg roll and shrimp cake is excellent but do not get the udon. The udon noodles are mushy and small pieces. Not much crab or flavor in the soup. I will not order this #1 udon again. Don't listen to those reels or shorts! Stick to the eggroll
Bánh Canh Cua: The flavor was okay but the noodles were way too overcooked and were just one big gluey lump. The yao tieu I ordered alongside was not great. Bánh Khot: My first time trying this. Not bad, tastes like bánh bột chiên with shrimp. More expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants serving similar dishes.
We came here for a birthday dinner. The restaurant was empty. Should've been the first warning. Apparently they just have expected no one to come, because after we ordered it took about 45 minutes for our food to get to the table. The crab udon was fine. Good enough but for almost 20 dollars you would expect more. At least there was fresh crab. Though added in was imitation crab so. Take that with a grain of salt. My brother got Hainan chicken and it must have been organic considering the size of it. (No where did it say it was organic. So it definitely wasn't) small portion of rice. And maybe 2-3 oz of meat. Not worth 15$ to say the least. Would recommend trying a different restaurant if you are in the area.
Horrible customer service! The food itself was decent, but their customer service is definitely lacking! I came in today and had ordered the shrimp/meat over vermicelli and a 3 colored bean dessert. They had brought the dessert in a reasonable amount of time, but because I prefer to eat the desert after I've had my meal, I put it to the side and waited for my meal to come. I waited, and I waited, and I waited, and I waited, and I waited... finally I had to wave to them standing at the register to to say ..."Hey! did you guys forget about me?", and then the guy finally brought the food over. And here's the real kicker... a guy that had came in and ordered AFTER me already had his food brought out to him first. Make that make sense. Just how much longer would I have had to wait had I not waved at them I wonder? Please be more mindful of ALL of your customers! P.S. I normally leave a very generous tip, but this is the first time that I've just paid my bill and left without leaving anything!
Understaff Friday night at 7:30. Good food but quite overpriced. Poor service in my opinion. Two empty tables without setup, one unclean table, and 10 parties wait outside. They can serve 3 parties right there. They used Tiktok to advertise but not ready for that. Many reviews will say the same about their service.
Horrendous Service and Subpar Food It should never take 35 minutes after ordering to get my bowl of bánh canh cua, and I wasn't the only one in the restaurant without food, there was about 7 other tables that was also waiting. During this wait I have to feed my daughter imaginary food to keep her entertained. Took 45 minutes from ordering for the restaurant to realized that on one at the restaurant got their banh khot order. While I see them cranking out Banh Khot orders for multiple take outs. This is pure negligent. When the food finally arrived, the broth was too thick, lacked flavor, and lukewarm. The pork was thin and tough. Compared to Que Ta Banh Canh Trang Bang and Nam Thanh Bánh Canh 3 Miền, this restaurant charges the most but serves the smallest portions. Absolutely unacceptable
Overpriced for the foods. Small portion compared to other restaurant with same price. $17.5 for a bowl. Also put some special request and none of it was taken action until 2nd time remainder. Imitation crab had some odor which did not taste fresh.
The restaurant was warm and we waited nearly 6 minutes just to be seated and there was no one in the restaurant. Once we finally sat down no one came back. We gave them the benefit of doubt . Finally got our order but while we were waiting for our orders to be taken no one ever brought out water. After our orders we asked for water several times and napkins plus utensils. We never got napkins and no one ever came back to refilled our waters nor napkins so we got us and got some from the podium. Would not recommend if you’re in a hurry.
Food was alright. Not too many vegetarian/vegan options. What shocked me was that I found a stapler pin in my roll. I was lucky to have bitten into it rather than swallow it. You guys need to be way more careful of the things around in your kitchen.
