This past weekend we hosted our daughter's Bridal Shower at the Davenport Press in Mineola. Lino and his staff made this event a total success. They were very accommodating, helpful and courteous. The food was excellent and the spacing during this 4 hour event was perfect. If you are looking for a place to hold any event this is the place.

Food great but if anyone who valet their car would check to see of they happen to get an extra set of car keys they belong to me Our car keys must have got mixed to someone else's keys as the valet could not find them. Food is very good. They don't knock you over the head with their prices. I am so glad that they changed the morbid (it reminded me of a funeral parlor) furniture in the bar area with white marble tables.

Long time favorite hadn't visited since moving east....place is outstanding. Great food..duck and osso buco winners. Not to omit the potato crusted mozzarella and chowder..oh boy..bread and bruschetta...definitely go hungry!

I had the little neck clams and linguini and they were cooked to perfection.The broccoli rabe was the best I've ever had and we were lucky to catch Tom Chupka on guitar and Dean Mihaltses on bass entertaining the enthusiastic Friday night crowd with their wide variety of music. The service was outstanding from the moment we walked in with owners Dennis and Jeannie Liberatos making us feel right at home...but better!

Wonderful place! The food was amazing, the service was excellent! There was so much to choose from. I am very fussy when it comes to dining out. The Chilean sea bass was prepared perfectly! I can't wait to go back there.

I was here for an engagement party over the weekend, my first time here, and I was absolutely amazed. Beautiful decor, friendly staff and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend this place! I’m sure it’s beautifully decorated for the holidays!

Lino the general manager for many years now, yes that is how long my wife and I have going to Davenports, has done an outstanding job as the chief cook and bottle washer, lol, his staff is truly loyal and put service and quality above all!

I recently went to a private event here, and everything was wonderful. The service was outstanding, the food and drinks were tasty, and the waitstaff was very friendly. The decor and seating arrangements were well done. I highly recommend this venue for special occasions.

My wife and I love the Davenport. We have been dining their for decades, and we have also hosted and attended catered affairs there. We now go a few times a year for a date night or special occasion. I am a fan of their older and timeless decor. While I like some of the decor changes they made, I’d like to see the main dining room be and stay as it was. We love the wait staff at the Davenport Press. Never disappointed with service. Will always love ordering from their blackboard and going with their delicious specials and ending with their Chocolate Moose. They are fairly and decently priced. Their portions are always great, and the service is consistently friendly and professional.

Was very unfamiliar with the place but we took a gamble and ended up having a really wonderful family thanksgiving dinner. The lady serving us was amazing to us and our family, and was a hard worker, being that we were a huge table. We all went with the thanksgiving prix fixe. My prime rib was delicious!

Very nice restaurant. It has that "home" feeling. The wait staff was wonderful. The food tasted like authentic homemade cooking. The atmosphere was intimate. I ordered the chicken parmigiana. It came with spaghetti and delicious veggies. My husband had the pork chop, and nothing was left except the bone. Our daughter had the prime rib which was TREMENDOUS, but she really enjoyed it. Really great restaurant. 👍👍😋😍

The Davenport Press is a very elegant restaurant. The staff is excellent. They are very attentive to each of their guests needs. I was there on Easter and was absolutely amazed at how every server was smiling and happy with all of the guests that were there! The food was perfectly prepared and the presentation was very well done. If you want to feel "special", this is the restaurant to go to.

Our family has been going to this restaurant for more than 20 years. The food is always delicious. The service is impeccable! Nice cozy atmosphere. The owner and staff treats everyone like family...it's our home away from home...

This resturant is our local favorite and holds alot of meaning to my family and so we knew we wanted our engagement party there. The owner and staff are incredible! They were with us every step in the planning and even let us come earlier then we were supposed to to set up. They are the nicest people! The food was delicious and we got so many complements on appetizers and entrees. The cake was included in our package and was so good! They have a main dining area plus 3 additional rooms for parties and are wheelchair accessible.  For our party, they closed the main resturant and we were able to have the entire room for our party of 55. Davenport has a really cozy feel for fall. People loved the feel of the room and said it was perfect for the season.

Love this place! Their specials are always good, especially their fish specials. They make this homemade garlic herb bread that's very addicting! Nice relaxing atmosphere. Well stocked and comfortable bar.

I had my 70th birthday celebration with 25 family and friends in the upstairs room. Everything ran smoothly. The buttler style appys meal, drinks and deserts were absolutely delicious!! The wait staff, as usual, was friendly and busy!!! We wanted for nothing. Leno checked on us to be sure things were running smoothly. Very attentive. Thank you to Leno and your staff for helping to making my celebration perfect!!

The service was excellent. Very loud on Peak Busy times. Seating is very tight. They pack you in. If you are looking for a quiet, intimate setting, this is not the place on busy peak times. The food was okay. Steaks are great. Salad was okay. You are going there for the steaks. I had stuffed shrimp with crab meat. Real crab meat. It was a little on the dry side. The potatoes were good. The chocolate cake was decent, but the actual cake was very dry. Service was amazing, and you are not rushed.

Absolutely love this restaurant. The quality of the food, service, and atmosphere are all outstanding. Incredible Mediterranean fare with excellent steak selection as well. Top 5 grilled octopus that I have ever had. Big shout out to Fotini who we see every time we are there. She is always so pleasent and provides incredible service. Highly recommend! 👍🏻

What a beautiful rare gem of a place. Set in a historic building from the 1800’in the heart of historic Mineola. The vibe is cozy, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Beautifully decorated for the holidays, and the staff felt like family. There was a specials board that changes daily offering creative dishes like Pistachio, crusted halibut, grilled Tomahawk steak and potato crusted sea scallops. Their à la car menu also has a variety of well thought out classics surely to appease anyone’s pallet. The Davenport pork chop was cooked perfectly and moist as was the halibut. If you’re tired of these chain restaurants that seem to be on every corner and looking for a family run restaurant that hasn’t forgotten what customer service is all about give them a try. Well done!

We have been dining at The Davenport Press for years and have always enjoyed their menu and the tremendous amount of daily specials they have. I recently had a retirement party there because we knew that we would have a great party with wonderful food and service. The party was for about 30 people, so we reserved one of the private rooms. The rooms and the entire establishment has a warm cozy feel to it. The party menu had many options for both food and beverages. We opted to have passed hors d'oeuvres which were abundant and delicious!! The passed trays were high quality things like meatballs; chicken wings and steak bits. There were plenty of waitstaff to assist the guests with their meals choices. We had four or five options on the menu for the entrees, including fish, sirloin, chicken and pasta. All the guests enjoyed the food immensely and even had leftovers to take home! The party package has a great option for dessert, either a huge dessert tray or cake. I have to thank the waitstaff and all involved in making this a very memorable party, I have everybody involved in the party really worked hard to make it enjoyable for all of the guests. Quite a reasonable price for their daily dining and I highly recommend having your private event here, it will be memorable. This establishment has been here for years, and the quality and friendliness are what make it successful.

This was my first time to Davenport Press Restaurant. The service is great, the atmosphere is beautiful and the waitresses were very attentive. The food is out of this world. I had the grilled octopus and it was cooked exactly the way I wanted and asked for.... the taste was outstanding. The coconut shrimp was amazing, uniquely prepared and presented. My friends dishes were delicious as well. If you're in the area or even out of the area, this place is a must. I'll definitely be back soon. Thank you

The Davenport Press is a place I’ve been told about for years. It’s my parents first date spot so finally coming here myself was a treat. The decor is beautiful ( the moose head is the star of the show.) Free bruschetta and bread is provided for each table to start. The staff is welcoming but not overbearing and the musical selections are calming ( something duly missing at lots of fine-in restaurants these days.) The lamb chops were cooked to my liking ( although I at times did wish for a bit more of the seasoning it was that good!) For dessert, the New York cheesecake was creamy and fresh. When the mineola train goes by the whole place rumbles which adds uniqueness but could be a bit jarring to some. Definitely a place everyone should try at least once !

Had a great lunch yesterday. Fresh warm bread to start and butter room temperature. Followed by ahi tuna , sliced thin with a beautiful salad. Also had the sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection and delicious mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. Staff very warm and gracious. Never had a bad meal here.

My wife and I had dinner, and it was excellent. Started off with the calamari, not a huge portion but tasty. We then had salad which was OK. Main courses were bronzini which was very good, two large pieces and the stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon which was good. Both came with baked potato and vegetable. Dessert was a chocolate cake which was delicious. Wait staff was very attentive. Parking can be a issue. Overall excellent experience would recommend.

We celebrated our anniversary here. The food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were greeted upon arrival, and the waiter was attentive. I had the rack of lamb with spinach and mashed potatoes, and he had the filet mignon with seasonal veggies. Main dining room located in the old printing press room.

We had dinner on a Saturday night at 7:15pm. The dining room was totally packed. We were seated promptly. Appetizers we had were oyster casino and mussels in white sauce. Both were very good. For dinner she had Mahi Mahi and I had a Cajun ribeye steak. She raved about her fish and the steak was very good not tuff at all. I believe they were on the special board. Total cost with tip and drinks and chocolate and white mousse cake for dessert was $200. The decor is a little unique to say the least but I would highly recommend going there. It is kind of "off the beaten path" but worthwhile. They did have valet parking that night it made things a little easier. Overall a very nice place and experience. The waitstaff was pleasant and efficient.

Old world charm and taste is alive and can be found at The Davenport Press Restaurant in Mineola. For a building 124 years old, once a printing press for four years, the interiors, moldings, tile, and marble are beautifully maintained. The shelves on the interior brick are lined with all sorts of interesting antiques and one spot, very reminiscent of the Incredible Upsidedown House, a complete dining table waiting for a party to join in on the ceiling. The attentive staff greets you and brings the menu, price fixe menu, with a list and a tonight special's whiteboard to your table. Incredible choices await all your senses be it grilled meats, fish, roasted entrees like duck, pasta dishes, seafood, and more. I think it safe to say everyone can find several foods they'd enjoy here. Tonight we started with their French Onion Soup. The broth is light and flavorful, with plenty of melted cheese. For our entrees, we opted for the grilled T-bone steak and Wild Boar on a demi-glaze. Both were cooked to perfection as you'd enjoy in a steak house — grill marks, charred outside, and melts in your mouth. I tasted the Boar, and to my surprise, it did not remind me of pork. It was more like a cross between goose and beef, with a delicious juicy succulence. The meat is darker in color too. We posted to put half the neal into a doggy bag so we could make — selection from their tiered dessert stand. We opted for the chocolate layer cake. It is rich with a fudge icing and decadent. Convenient to the Mineola train station, there is no excuse not to visit the Davenport Press and enjoy the well-stocked cozy bar or ask for a table by their large fireplace. They cater to private parties and intimate weddings here too. This is undoubtedly a place where you will find a delicious meal!

Good food and spirits! Great atmosphere. With all the negative changes we experience, it's nice that Davenport Press has not been spoiled--and I first went there 35 years ago!

This is a charming restaurant. The food is good, the relaxed ambience is better. In the colder weather there is a large working fireplace in the main dining area. The ladies room is on the small side and the individual stalls are quite snug but the decorations are charming. There is a large bar area with comfortable seating. The only drawback is the location right next to a rail road crossing in Mineola and a small parking area. However once you are inside that disappears and you are in a well decorated charming restaurant. There are also private dining rooms for private parties.

Haven't been here in a very long time and was more than pleasantly surprised. The appetizers, entrees and desserts were all well beyond expectations. The only reason the fifth star is missing from the rating is that the service could have been better. Perhaps it is the masks that make communication difficult. Fortunately, our dining companions kept the conversations going, so the time passed quickly while waiting for service. There were many items on the menu that were calling out to be chosen, so a return visit is definitely warranted.

Busy on a Saturday evening— nice atmosphere. Very pleasant meal not bad pricing. Service excellent. Had trout— generous portion. Sauce could of been a little more flavorsome needed some color. Vegetables du jour beautifully cooked. French fries a bit soggy. Crab cake starter had too much filler. Desserts looked lovely but i was full!

For a "white tablecloth" place they were sure family friendly!!! The food was absolutely delicious and the menu made it INCREDIBLY hard to decide. In addition to enjoying the meal I loved how patient everyone was with my 18 month old and 4 year old needing to stretch their legs here and there! We went as early as possible not to disturb other diners (we were probably there right at 5pm on a weeknight) and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend!

The food and service were very good and restaurant offers a wide variety of entrees ,except on special days like Mother's day where a limited menu is offered. I had a delicious potato crusted tilapia in red pepper sauce and it was delicious. Place has cozy atmosphere and a great place to get together with family and friends.

The food was a little salty. I had shrimp scampi. The place was very crowded.

I went here for a bridal shower the decor was nice and we were able to decorate above what I expected. I'm giving them 4 stars cuz the food wasn't great it was ok. And the champ punch was all sugar no champagne don't bother.

Tried to make a reservation for 2 people for Christmas Eve. They refused to place us in the room we requested because our party was too small. So we are taking our money elsewhere and got the reservation we wanted. Thanks anyway.

Their once Excellent "Au poivre" sauce for steak has changed, to Unfortunately no flavor now. However this steak was cooked to perfection.

Pretty basic catering place. It's cute from the outside and the decor inside is pleasant. The room sizes are good for small catered occasions, I.e. bridal showers. The location is convenient, right by the train station. The food isn't anything really exceptional, but decent. The negatives is that the parking lot is quite small and the staff are not very engaged, which is necessary at times when you need an extra hand for a moment or the attention of a server with questions in regards to food. So, the overall experience was "meh" other than the actual occasion itself.

We went here on Valentine's day because we saw good reviews but left disappointed. The meal was costly, which I was ok with but only if we left happy. The calamari was very plain and had to be saturated in the sauce for flavor. The mango salmon was dry. The Cajun steak was good with the pepper sauce but the spinach I paid an extra $6 for was chewy. The best part was the dessert.

They have a great rotation of specials (and they're darn proud of them!). They also do a 3 course price fixed dinner menu as well. Their desserts didn't really wow me. That being said, their waitstaff is great and friendly and the appetizers and entrees were great.

I and husband had dinner here. Place is beautiful and food was delicious, service was good, But you have to be okay with someone breast feeding front of your table by the fire place while you having romantic dinner . We are grand parents but felt uncomfortable breast feeding allowed in this $$$$ resturant?????. Better go to manhattan to spend $$$$ . They don't allowed breast feeding front of you . Somethings must be private.

Had a birthday dinner there had the mignonette it's a filet mignon with cognac mushroom sauce it was good but I asked for medium rare came out so rare it was still mooooing. And because it was in a sauce it would of messed up the steak to ask them to cook it more so I had to tough it out so ask for medium if you like it the way I do and so fourth. To be honest the prices for everything in this place I would have gone somewhere else. But it was not my birthday or my choice but when I asked my mom she even said she didn't remember it being that expensive. I've never been but I would never choose to go back. I was with a party of 8 people some of them liked there food some of them didn't so. But the staff was so friendly. But if it was me I would of choose Blackstone Steakhouse or one10 insignia prime if you really wanna do fancy but really good food and I told her that she said well we know for next year.

We were very disappointed with where we were seated! If I would have know they were going to seat us in the back room and not in the main dining room I never would have booked this restaurant. Next time they need to ask you up front if you would not mind sitting in the back room which has little ambiance!! Not happy that we were supposed to sit In the main dining room and when we arrived the owner told the hostess to sit us in the back. Very disappointed because this was a special occasion!! Maybe they need to say something up front so I have a choice on whether I want to sit in back or not!! We were not happy!

Had made a reservation for 2, was put in the bar with no service, then moved to side room , bar can’t make an old fashion, food was ok, seems to be clicky place to sit in dining room so will not be returning ! AVOID

Can't speak about the food bc I didn't get to eat here. I talked to Lino on the phone on a Wednesday to reserve my sister's bridal shower, and said I'd be in the next day to put down a deposit. He said not to worry, they'd hold it for a week. Well, life happens and I got there Friday (just two days after I spoke to him), only to discover that someone else reserved the room the day before, and although they hadn't left a deposit yet he was giving them priority. Good riddance.

Weve been coming here for a few years now. Tonight was quite a disappointment. We ordered the duck and got two " duck legs" very " old, stringy, dry and tough. I called Lino the manager and he stated that this is the way people "like it and always request it as such". He was so generous to offer a " cup of coffee" on the house.....we declined, such a generous offer. What a shame.We used to like this place quite a bit...unfortunately We won't be coming back here anymore neither will any of my employees. Too bad...

We came to celebrate our Anniversary. We have been here many times before including we had our wedding here. But this time the service and food left a lot to be desired. My steak was at first rare when I asked for medium. My wife's vegetables were cold. The waiter asked me to to cut open the steak as though I had no idea how to judge if the steak was rare of course I had cut it open to see that it was cooked properly before he asked. I repeated twice it should be medium instead it came out like leather not red in middle. I ate it . When it didn't look right to the chef they should have started with a new steak. When we finished with our main course and it was more then obvious they did take away our plates after a few minutes but didn't offer us coffee or the desert menu finally I said to the waiter can we have a check. We really did want desert It was a bummer. To us it was a joyous time that was ruined. Also they never refilled my wife's water. On the way out Dennis who I assume was a manager Asked us how everything was we told him what I just related and all he could say was have a good evening. Just to keep things in context we started with onion soup Its not like we came in for a Hamburger.
