Had a really nice evening here. The waitstaff were very polite, we were seated quickly and ordered the General Saou's Chicken, Chicken Pad Thai, the Pineapple Fried Rice, and Pumpkin Curry.

We enjoyed our dining experience here! An out-of-towner, I’ve been trying to eat here (located almost a stone’s throw from a relative’s house) since MARCH 2015! But the stars never aligned until this trip. Ironically, over a week in Modesto and this was the only restaurant we ate at. We started with the Calamari. My daughter doesn’t like spicy so I thought we ordered the Spicy Garlic, sans spicy so just garlic, however I do not recall a garlic taste. The calamari are very large rings, not lots of little pieces. We each had about 3 pieces, so there are 9-10 pieces to a serving. My daughter had the Fried Rice. She ordered chicken but received beef, but stated the beef tasted good so we didn’t mention it to anyone. It’s QUITE a large portion. We also ordered the Pad Thai to share. Wherever we go, my husband and I almost always order a Pad Thai to share on top of our entrees. This item was not a highlight for me. It was a deep red color and was missing all the flavors of Pad Thai I expected. I’ll go on to say I’ve noticed differences in food items between the West and East Coasts. Example: Our local Asian take out by my house, a Sushi Pan Asian place near the beach, a Dim Sum Asian Place in Riverside, Morimoto in Orlando, and even an actual Thai restaurant in Downtown Jax have all have similar Pad Thais in appearance and flavor. But in talking with my sister, all the Pad Thai she’s ever had in Modesto is what we experienced at Tasty Thai. My husband ordered the Orange Chicken and it was great. Not too heavily battered, with a light orange flavor. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and I loved it! This too differed from what I’m used to on the East Coast. Here, it’s beef with sliced onions in a sauce. That’s about the extent. At Tasty Thai, there was a generous amount of veggies (mushrooms, white & green onions, and carrots). It was spicy but delicious! The kind of spicy where you can’t stop eating, but your mouth is burning so you just keep shoveling your food in because....you can’t stop! It was a bit oily; it reminded me of the red pepper infused olive oil I had in France. There were red pepper flakes present to warn you of its spice. ALL the employees were very friendly and accommodating! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get any pictures because I was holding my 5 month old the entire time....and she wasn’t sleeping but actively reaching for anything on the table she could.

Highly recommend Tasty Thai! Excellent food choices here. Now that I’ve been here a few times I can say that it is a staple for our restaurants in this area. I recommend calling ahead to place a reservation or getting there before it gets too busy in the later evening. Some of the staples that I like to order are the spring rolls and sesame chicken. Will be back. Keep up the great work!

Great people, great food, always clean. Very tasty including the pad Thai, any of the curry dishes (delicious!) and the food is always fresh tasting and of high quality. Let them know if you have questions about spice levels. Love this place! Eaten there many times; quality is right up there as some of the best Thai food ever.

I've eaten at Tasty Thai numerous times over the years, and have enjoyed Thai food when I've lived in Europe and in Portland, OR. This place is one of the best! They are consistently good. I loooove their red curry and pumpkin curry and would highly recommend those. I love spicy food and they always do a good job! If spicy isn't your thing they can always tone it down. I have a young daughter who is anaphylactic to tree nuts and they said they could easily accommodate food allergies (apparently one of the owners/long time employees has a daughter with food allergies and they understand the steps needed to keep you safe). Just thought I would throw this out there in case you have a food allergy and are wondering.

First time coming in, it is currently take out only. We order Pad Thai, Pla Rad Rig (catfish) and Teriyaki Chicken. Two thumbs up, I was not to crazy about the Teriyaki Chicken but my order (Pla Rad Rig) was amazing. Will order again.

Great Thai restaurant that always provides that hot sweet Asian flair. Usually the office would order ahead of time and pick up but I've gone a few times to dine in. Staff is always friendly and the restaurant is always clean. During my recent visit I did try to call in my order but no one answered, or so I thought. The phone rang forever and when they picked up I was ready to hang up. I went over and ordered in person. While waiting I tried the Hibiscus margarita🌺 It was fabulous. I'll have to remember to have another the next time I dine in.

The food is great and had been consistent every single time I order from them. I’ve been going for a year now and love it. I personally love mangos so I would definitely suggest the sweet rice and mango for dessert, it’s great. I personally love the panang curry.

Very tranquil healthy food, great place to have a conversation no distractions or disturbance,have a little small meeting or low-key as well.

I order the Pad Kaprao and it is my favorite dish. The gyoza is sooo good especially the dipping sauce that is served with it. The thai tea tastes great as well. The inside of the establishment is nice and clean. It is a smidge pricey.

I would give them 5 stars, but I always order the same thing. But I have to say, their food is always good, -CONSISTENTLY. Not to mention that the staff is always friendly. I definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Their hours say open until 9pm, but their kitchen actually closes as 8pm on Saturday night, which is pretty weird for a Saturday evening. We didn't even get to eat there at all because we got there at 8:05pm on Saturday evening.

Nice part of north modesto. Great service! The food is fabulous. I have had Thai in Hollywood that was killer good, but this comes in a close second.

Update for 2025: they've been better in the last couple of years. Older review: The food is okay, but this place lacks attention to detail and quality control. There's always something wrong with our order. Sometimes it's minor, and sometimes major. Tonight we got pineapple fried rice NO Chicken. We got home, and there's chicken in there. This was an online order that clearly says no chicken. Also we asked for soft tofu on another dish and it was fried tofu.

I have been going to this place for 5 years now. It is a hit and miss with them. 90% of the time their food is excellent but we have had our fair share of problems with them as well. I suggest you always order an extra order of rice when you got the food to go as there is never enough when compared to dining in. Also the quantity of the soup whe you buy a pot to go is very small. Other wise love their food and it is one of the best Thai restaurants in Modesto

I ordered vegetarian spring rolls to go. They were fresh, had lots of veggies, & the peanut sauce was creamy & good! I ordered vegetarian spring rolls from 2 other Thai restaurants, & they didn't compare. These were by far the best! Why I didn't give it 5 stars, is they're not as good as the ones from Trader Joes. I don't know how the peanut sauce is made (the Trader Joe's ones), but it's the best!

There was 10 of us eating and everyone enjoyed their food, our waiter was a busy person and still managed to make sure we had everything we needed.I would definitely be going back

Clean and fast. But I M used to my Thai in ripon. Had spring rolls and they were picture perfect. But my Thai the sauce is made with peanuts and a rice wine vinegar and they are bigger not mainly lettuce I love my Thai in ripon. Feel like it is a go to spot for friends and conversation

Before Covid-19 this was my favorite Thai place. Went for dine in the other evening. I was disappointed in the Mongolian Beef, a noodle dish that was suppose to have tomatoes and an assortment of veggies in it. There was only tomato. The Mongolian Beef was tastless. We ordered their wor won ton pot. It only had pork in it. I am used to my won ton soup having pork, chicken and shrimp in it. The service was good. I'd recommend you trying this place and judging for yourself. Maybe the cooks were having an off day when we were there?

The shrimp was so well overdone there is no taste. Suggest you check the order before walking out with burnt food to go. Very disappointing.

The seafood fried rice also had strong soy sauce flavor, was super salty, lucky that we had the extra white rice from bbq pork dish to add-in to make it less salty. Only Tom Yum soup (Thai style) still tasted right. Our server was great! We didn’t tell her our food experience cuz she had been nice to us the whole time, didn’t want to give her a bad day :)

Worst customer service in town. Don't try to order during the weekend because you will be placed on hold and be forgotten. If you do end up placing an order, you will be charged extra for any sauce you ask for; the same sauce you get for free at any other restaurant, nothing excessive. The food is ok, but leave it for last resource. In case Thailand restaurant downtown is closed, then try your luck.

I'd like to let you all know that they now no longer use small flat noodles for their Pad Thai they are using small rice noodles and it does not taste the same I ordered chicken Pad Thai Yesterday evening I was so disappointed I asked for it to be mild, there was no spice to this, I asked for extra lemons, no extra lemons. I had very little spouts and green onion. The rice noodles they now use obsorbs any sauce which makes it hard to separate, looks like a pile of yarn also makes this dish very dry, does not taste the same at all. I called them today in hopes they would replace, use the right noodles this is when I was told they no longer use the small flat noodles due to gluten free ..whatever. So all the dishes that have flat noodles will longer be instead you'll get a heaping tangled mess of rice noodles. I was also told to get my refund from GrubHub. That guy that works there, the one that handles these situations you know who I'm talking about if you're a frequent flyer here, he never offered an apology in fact he spent most of the time talking over my words. It's too bad that they made this change I'm sure many will be disappointed like myself this was the only reason I ate here was for the Pad Thai I will now have to look elsewhere.

Just here in Modesto for two day training. Stopped by for dinner. My wife ordered mixed seafood in soy base. I had Pad Se Ew with chicken. We also ordered a papaya salad. Compared to my favorite Thai restaurants in the Pacific Northwest, the food was mediocre at best. The scallops in the mixed seafood were not fresh and my wife felt that it was not particularly seasoned well. She felt she could do the same at home even though she does not cook Thai food. My Pad Se Ew had very little chicken and what chicken that was in it were tiny pieces that I only knew was chicken when I bit into it. The seasoning was off ; it did not taste as soy saucy and sweet as what I am used to. The papaya salad had fish sauce in it which is normal but it would have tasted better and more balanced with more vinegar. The service I felt was not particularly good either. When I asked for chopsticks, the female server just stuck her arms out with chopsticks without even looking at or facing me. In addition, after serving our food, we were never asked how the food was and they only refilled our water when we were almost done eating. Mediocre at best is my opinion. I would not eat there again if I ever return to Modesto.

Overpriced and awful food, but the place looks nice and the people are friendly. The last fiasco I tried was the Orange Chicken, but they gave me Dry Chicken (notice the lack of orange). Basically, I paid $11 for dehydrated chicken nuggets. There was maybe a tablespoon of orange liquid in the container. The chicken was so dry, I had to have a drink with every bite. I doubt that I will ever have food from this location again this year.

The food is really good but I believe they made a mistake. I ordered a "pot" of soup to go it was $23.94 (BEFORE 10% tip -for to go order) and I received a quart :( hand for scale in pic YIKES! Sad because I live near by and haven't been for a while......

Extremely disappointing food for that price. Add shrimp for 2 dollars on a dish that's almost already 12 bucks so I'm paying 14 bucks for 5 pieces of PRE COOKED FROZEN SHRIMP. That really grinds my gears. I mean how can a reatraunt serve such inadequate food and charge you such a loaded price. It's down right disrespectful. Wont be going back.

I asked for a small container of peanut sauce to take home and was told I would have to buy a big container. Fine, let it go went home and 2 hours later started getting extremely sick. I have food poisoning from this place! The shrimp in my soup was basically in edible so tough and smelt very very fishy I should have went with my gut instinct and just cancel the order when they refuse to get to give me a tiny side of peanut sauce. I will never go back to this place again!

***NO STAR***for the way I was treated. On 5/14/18 I returned my Mother's Day dinner that (I picked up after 7pm 5/13/18) didn't taste good. I wasn't greeted by anyone, I walked over to the bar(where I've picked up orders before)..this guy behind the bar asked me if I wanted to place a order? I said no I called earlier, I'm returning food .. he asked me what was wrong with it I said it doesn't taste like it normally taste do you have a new cook?..he said no.. I said I wanted my order remade with no spices and no mushrooms( I show my receipt and the card that I use)he had the order remade and said he would credit my card back...what I now know was the manager name Jay... who over talk me cut me off and was very rude before he even identified himself... he returned with the new order I opened the box and said look at this and look at what I return do you see the difference he said no, but I called the owner of the restaurant you return food here before! I said no I return food at the old location that's closed on Coffee Road.. he said " I called the owner does the owner does not want you back in this restaurant!" I asked why? He said because you return food.. I said I return food today makes twice in over 2 years???? Tried to get him an example as a customer with a business he cut me off...I said to him.. do you know how many people that I have referred to this restaurant including business??? I did let Jay know that I would be writing a review and reporting this restaurant. Jay yelled at me in front of customers and staff and told me I needed to leave now!!! ***A customer has every right to return food*** I am very dissatisfied and beyond words . I couldn't eat the food on Sunday tried to enjoy my mother's day with my son went to bed with no food. Unfortunately I was programming my new phone while waiting that FedEx just dropped off so I was not able to record this live on Facebook. Jay followed me outside, thew the order that I brought in the trash and wait for me to get in my car? WOW.

Extremely bad service and server who wore glasses and long ponytail… little on the chubby side and short. This server thought that she was the owner there and was extremely rude and gave us bill for somethg we didnt even eat and never notified us . Worst place to eat as they cheat their customers. I give them 0 out of 5 in everything.

The family and I have been customers for a long time. A couple days ago, my mom ordered shrimp spring rolls, and it tasted expired and smelled really bad. She called the restaurant about this and asked to remake the order. They also forgot to give her two other orders she had ordered along with spring rolls. On her way to pick it up, she received a call from the manager, where he rudely tells her that he would send her money back to her card and that she would receive it in a few days, because she was not there at exactly 4:30 to pick up the food, and refused to give it to her. He ignored the fact that the food was expired, that they forgot about the two other orders, and then refuses to give it to her after charging her. My mom just wanted the order. I have seen other reviews about the manager and now we see it. Actually, my mom have said that he has been rude to her several times. He is not a good manager. Too bad, we wont be going there anymore until they change managers. Edited: I just read the negative reviews after posting my review. Most of the negative reviews are because of the manager. So dear manager, shape up or you will be losing a lot more customers.

Small and cozy place, which was nice. But the waitress never checked on us. Never refilled drinks. They brought me the wrong order but never came back so I could tell them. The food was good even though I got the wrong dish. And I was too hungry to wait for them to finally check on us a whole freaking hour later.

If there is an option of zero stars in this chart, I would most certainly choose this option because this place gave me food poisoning. Back from Monday night I was with my friends having seafood while I had ordered Yum Neua and Seafood Delight, and after I got back home I was vomiting the whole night. Don't go there it's dangerous!

I have been coming on and off for years, but after today I had to replace my 5 star review. 8/21/22@1300. I showed up with a party of 4 and asked for a corner table, there was one available. The bald/shaven man without a name-tag at the front immediately started, "No, our customers do not get to choose where to sit. You will sit where we show you to. That spot is for a party of 6 only." I was taken aback by such a rude response; it was like he was mad I had the audacity to request a specific spot. There is a proper and more polite way to say "no" and redirect a customer. I said "I would like to sit there anyway". "No, it is our policy that customers will sit where they are told". (These were his actual words, verbatim). "If a party of 6 shows up, where will I sit them?" I stared at him like maybe he was joking. Only 5 tables were occupied, more than 2/3 tables were empty including 2 tables with seating for 8 and 1 table for 6. I pointed and said, "Over there?" He rolled his eyes at me, in front of my face and repeated, "Our customers will sit where we seat them. It's our policy. We have to follow it as employees." Another party of 3 walked in and he said, "Think about if you want to be seated or not while I help them". And left without a glance back or waiting for me to respond. When he returned I told him that the way he spoke to me was rude and that we were leaving. "Ok, bye", he said. There is a nicer way to redirect customer. I probably wouldn't even have noticed if he just said sorry we can't, but you can choose from any of the tables for 4 people... No way he hasn't been rude to other customers before. That employee needs to be dealt with. I was here last Sunday 8/14/22 with a group of 19 people to which I recommended this place. That day everything was fine. This is why so shocked by this treatment. I deleted/replaced my original 5 star review over this.... Edit: After reading some reviews I quickly found a bunch of 1 star reviews that referenced a bald manager named Jay. That rude employee was definitely him, matched every description.

Just walked in to celebrate Father’s Day with our four children and were told we had split up and sit at separate tables. Was told there wasn’t a manager on site. Wondering how they plan to stay open without accepting large parties or being family friendly. Very unsatisfied with the service. Was recommended by a friend. Will never eat here.

My son was here visiting from out of town wanted to take him to a good restaurant I choose tasty thai because previous times going their we've had great service, my daughter and son in law met us their for dinner, my wife met us their after work, unfortunately our experience that night was horrible, my wife and daughter got their meals first, about 20 minutes later my son gets his meal myself and son in law are still waiting for our meals, everyone at the table is done with their meals while we wait. For ours, no one is letting us know when we are getting our meals we complain to the manager in charge Jay, all he can say is that he is sorry about the delay, this is after we complained about the wait. My son is in the restaurant business and wanted to speak with Jay in a more professional way but seemed like Jay was being defensive about the whole situation, what upsets me the most we weren't asking for free meals just that he would take ownership of their poor service that day. My son and I spoke about this the entire way home and it makes no sense why Jay refused to take more ownership about this issue. We were out the night before at a different restaurant in town with a larger group of 12 and that waitress seemed to be able to bring all 12 meals out at the same time. Not sure we will ever return to this restaurant again.

To-go wait was more than double the quoted time, one dish was cold, the other over cooked and inedible. No apology for the excessive wait. After several years as loyal customers, this place has taken a huge dive.

My wife and I walked in at around 12:15pm. It was decently busy. We were going to be seated right away but my wife is pregnant and we asked for a booth. The host said "10 minutes". I pointed out the empty booth and he promptly said "we need to clean it". 15 minutes later the front is filling in and we are still waiting for the one open booth. No busser cleaning, no one asking us what's going on. Ridiculous. My wife asked how much longer and the host said "5 minutes". We decided to just leave and the host said "ok, go then". I guess we were such an inconvenience to request a booth that he would rather not deal with is. Thanks for the terrible service. Would not recommend this place.

Being a frequent customer to Tasty Thai with my family over the years we would usually eat here before heading over to a symphony concert at the Gallo Center. But the past year or so the service and food quality has gone down. But lastnight's dining experience with my mom has sealed the deal that I will never be returning to this place. The owner was kind at first as always and we ordered an appetizer then a simple pineapple rice and pad thai dinner with spring rolls as we only had maybe an hour before having to head to the concert. Nearly an hour later, we had only gotten the appetizer and spring rolls (which I later asked tonhave brought out as we were already sitting there about 30 mins by that time). I requested the rest of the meal to go and when the owner came by I asked him why it had taken so long but he kept saying we ordered a special rice dish that took time to make but never acknowledged that nearly an hour was a bit over the top - really?? Pineapple rice takes an hour to cook.... okay. When I tried to explain that we were on a time crunch he raised his voice and snapped at me before walking away. FYI some tables around us had already seated, eaten, and left, all within the time we ourselves had sat down. My mom graciously paid the full price for the meal and even a decent tip considering the horrendous experience. It's a shame that an old stomping ground will no longer be one. I will not be returning.

I went to restaurant for a to go order. I ordered pineapple chicken shrimp fried rice. Seafood soup not spicy and teriyaki chicken. The appearance was perfect the order was not entered correctly I made sure to tell them no nuts because I have a nut allergy. The soup and teriyaki chicken were both spicy. My granddaughter and husband couldn’t eat their food. I sat down to eat and within 10 minutes I had an allergic reaction. We called to speak with the manager I let him know my order was wrong and they put nuts in my order. He said he looked at the camera. Once he came back he said the chicken was not spicy. I told him they couldn’t eat it and had to throw it away. We don’t know what had the nuts in it. He asked me well what do you want me to do about it. I said make it right. He told me he would refund my rice only. I do not suggest eating here if you have a food allergy or want your order right.

Their food is really good, well except for the Pad Thai. It doesn’t taste like the “traditional” pad Thai at other establishments... I think it’s very bland. Anyway, customer service is another story. I don’t think I’ve ever been here and thought I received decent service (and I’ve been there dozens of times). It’s always lacking. All of the waitresses are so slow, and they never refill your water. It’s kind of frustrating because most of the time it’s not even busy. I have love/hate relationship with this place. I think more hate than love. I prefer to get take out if I am craving the spring rolls. The peanut sauce is what really keeps me coming back. I wish I had the recipe for it. I would never come back again.

Hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Went there for lunch with my mother and she was not satisfied with her food. Asked if she could replace it and was told no. Bald manager said it was the Most popular dish and there's no way she didn't like it. Then asked her if she would like a Box. I'm literally mind blown that these people would lose customers over $12.

Gross food, poor service and awful manager. Yelled at my mother because she didn’t like her chicken dish (she thought it tasted old) & had the audacity to come to the table and yell and embarrass us stating they had “served 50 chicken dishes already that day and no one complained” We got there at 11:08 had our food by 11:21, mind you, they open at 11 and were slow so how would they have served that many dishes? This was our go to spot. Always tipped appropriately and complained maybe 2x out of our 50 visits for good cause. Unfortunately will NOT go back. So sad he felt the need to be rude to us instead of fixing the problem.

3-10-22 Manager Jay (The Bald Guy), you are a horrible manager and should be replaced. If the owner wants to stop losing customers they would find a better manager. We have been repeat customers for a long time and now we probably won't be coming back unless your not there. You made my wife cry on our way home because of your treatment over something so very simple. A charge that should not have been charged and being told that if we didn't want to pay for it that's fine but it will be charged to our card regardless... On the other side, waitresses were great.

How can several different types of food all be bad and such a big waste of money??? I’ve had delicious food here in the past, UNTIL last Sunday‼️ We ordered food to go from here! The the first and last time we will order to go from them!!! We paid $104.00 for the worst food!!! We had to wait briefly the restaurant was very busy. Busy restaurant that’s great we thought surely the food would be freshly cooked and hot! WRONG, at home instead of golden fried wings we found hard black chicken wings obviously cooked in oil that was burned,dark and old! We ordered 2 types of wings. One was cooked in a sauce I swear looked like black ink, both orders were bad. Fried wings were just terrible not crunchy but hard blank and dry. Looking forward to delicious pad Thai, but instead it was all stuck together. It was cold and so dry and tasted like it was yesterday’s refrigerator leftovers. Even the Chicken salad and orange chicken were both super dry!🤷🏻‍♀️ Even the red curry was real watery with a couple of bell pepper strips. For some reason last Sunday was a good day to order from ANYWHERE ELSE! Huge disappointment . Maybe Tasty Thai is trying to save money.Had they served us that same food in their restaurant we would have sent everything back and left! Not happy to post this since we have had good food in the past but there is something wrong here because there is no excuse for their very expensive and truly awful dried up food! For sure they didn’t charge any less for lousy food! I made breakfast for dinner that night and threw $104 away! We tasted then threw In the garbage 🗑! So angry and disgusted! Anyone have a suggestion for a good Thai restaurant?

Never again will my mom and I go here, the food was amazing but the waiter and waitress were so rude when my mom called them out. An older couple came in waited a good 10 min to be seated while the waitress was bull shitting with a couple so the couple waiting went ahead and sat down waited another good minutes and decided they wanted to leave and the waitress had the nerve to tell the old man she wasn’t talking to the couple for that long and that he should of waited to be seated, my mom couldn’t sit there and listen to the waitress lie so she spoke up and the waiter and waitress got defensive and told us to leave gave us a box to go and the check and told us never to come back, was my mom in the wrong? I think not The rudest customer service I have ever experienced and for one thing put a damn sign saying please wait to be seated not everyone knows to wait
